Local view

Hi,
I have a simple doubt. If i change some settings in Change query(local view), Will the changes be available for the user/client.
For example if i am changing some row properties etc. If it will be available for that particular query
Thanks in advance
Obily B W

Hi Obily,
If you are changing anything using Change Query ->Local View, it will only be displayed for the user, whose User ID you have logged on.
I mean changes will not be reflected to other users, if you are using your ID to login.
Answer is NO, local view only changes your view, not for Client/Other users.
Thanks

  • DW CS5 will not open pages from local view sidebar

Using the latest DW and having a major issue. Sites are visible through manage sites; all is fine with settings. However, when I open a site to edit, if I try to click on the right side (local view) to open the html pages, DW gives me an error message - for example -  "HD/user/site/xxxx.html not found" but if I open the file from the menu, it opens. I can edit but not "put" the file or add to the remote server manually. I thought one of the site's files was corrupt but then I realized it's happening for all my sites (which work fine on my laptop - also running same version of DW). Is one of the DW settings off? Should I reinstall? Has anyone encountered this issue? Thanks in advance.

Well, I don't have CS5 and I've never seen this problem before, but I would start with deleting and then re-creating the site definition.

  • Files not accessible from local view

    Hello,
I recently got a new computer (iMac 11,3) and transferred all files from a backup drive. Since then, the local view in Dreamweaver's file panel does not display the files in my local root folder. The files are visible and accessible from the desktop. I can open them in Dreamweaver by dragging them onto the Dreamweaver icon, but I can't put them to the remote server (get and put commands are grayed out). I've edited the site settings, and defined a new site with a new local root folder, but still have the same problem. I'm using DW cs3. The old computer was an iMac G5, with a non-Intel processor. I hope that's not the problem.
    Thanks!

  • Is it possible to change the description of an attribute in the local view

I have a characteristic in a query which has multiple attributes. In the global view I am able to change the descriptions on the attributes. But the local view does not show the updated descriptions - it shows the descriptions from the multiprovider? Any way I can match up the local and global view for the attribute descriptions ?

  • Problems in creation of workbook using Change query local view.

    Hi Experts,
I have created a Multiprovider by using union of two infocubes and created a Query based on Multiprovider.  I want to restrict one infocube in Change Query local view for creating new workbooks.  In Query global view we drag and drop the Infocube under Filters, but in the Query local view Filter panel is in disable mode. (My requirement is to create the workbooks using change query local view only)
How can I restrict the one Infocube values in the workbooks by using Change query local view?
    Thanks in advance.
    Venkat.

    Hi Venkat Prasad
As you told that the query is on multi provider and the view is not allowing to declare/define filter value
Just drag the infoprovider info object avilable under packet dimension to rows and right click on it restrict by selecting the name of the info provider when u right click it will show you the option of restrict once u click on it,it will takes to u a pop up where you can able to see the name of info providers and you specify according to it and finally in the display of results if you dont want to to display the info provider name then just right click on the 0infoprovider object under rows go to properties then choose hide option under display.
    Hope its clear a little..!

  • Certain Items Not Showing Up in Local View f12 Preview

I have been making some changes (very, very green with DreamWeaver and Website building ing eneral), and have run into this issue.  When making changes to the navigation/links from one page to the next, (that is the only change being made) the flexslider images do not show up in the F12 preview.  Is this just the way it is or should I be able to view with the F12 local host preview.  The last thing I want to do is make the changes, publish, and all hell breaks lose because the images are not showing up.

The folders should be ok.  I copied directly from the previous user (10+ yrs exp) directly over to me.  I made a change to the "Our Team" page and successfully published to the site.  Here is a question -
If I "get files: from the remote server, then those should be the files currently being used on the LIVE website.  ANd if I overwrite the local copy, then by all means, what is seen on the websiteshould be seen on the Local View as well.  That leads me to belive that this code can not be seen in that preview state?
Here is the code in question:

  • DW File Names Not Visible in Local View?

Hi, in Dreamweaver CS4 in the bottom right of the UI is the (Files > Local View) It shows a list of the files in you website. The files were appearing just fine but now all I can see is the DW icon for each file unless I hover over the file to see what it says. Before the whole file name was easily visible. I’ve never had this happen before.
Anyone know what’s up with this and how I can fix this?

  • Create local view with Bex Analyzer 7.0

    Hi,
with the Bex Analyzer 3.5 it was possible to create and use a local views based on a query in a workbook.
With this "workaround" it was possible to create just one Query for different views and charts.
Is there something similar in BI 7.0???
I know there is a query view, but this is not what i want.
    Thx a lot.
    Br
    Mike

I think the reference is to the BEx 3.x Change Query button. You had the option in a refreshed query or Workbook to Change Query Local View or global view.
With Change Query Local View it was easier for a user with no global change authorizations to drag and drop, rearrange and change properties of their query results as needed. Then they could save locally as a workbook and each time they open it the personalized version can be refeshed as such, all without having to change original query.
How do users do that in 7.0?

  • Files Not Updating in Local View for Co-worker

When I add a file (.html, .pdf, whatever) to our website's folder on our local server, I see it instantly in my Files window tab local view in Dreamweaver CS5 (Windows).
But when my co-worker adds a file to that same folder, it does not come up in her Dreamweaver CS5 Files window tab local view on her computer, even after she clicks the Refresh icon.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

Some of the terminology Dreamweaver uses can make what you're saying a bit confusing, so I'm going to try to clarify so we can better understand the situation.
You and your coworker are each on your work computers using Dreamweaver. You have both created site definitions in Dreamweaver, pointing to a folder on your company's internal server.
The "Local Site Folder" setting of your site definition should be pointing to a location on your own computer. The same setting on your coworker's site definition in Dreamweaver should be pointing to a location on their computer.
This means that when you select "Local view" in the Files panel, it will only show files on your computer. Likewise, when your coworker does the same, it will only show files on their computer.
It is the "Server Folder" setting in the server settings on each of your computers that should be pointing to that folder on your company's internal server.
This means that when you select "Remote Server" (or "Testing Server" if you checked that box instead for the server in your site definition) in the Files panel, you will be viewing the files on your company's server.
In order to essentially share files between your copy of Dreamweaver and your coworker's, you need to "upload" (i.e. copy) files from your Local View to your Remote Server. Your coworker would then see these files by looking at Remote Server on their computer. And the reverse is true; they upload from Local View to Remote Server, and you would see the files by looking at the Remote Server view on your computer.
    Hope this helps.

  • My html files don't display in local view.

I'm not sure if I disabled something, but all of a sudden I can't see 650 files for my website. They appear in the remote view and they are also still in my root folder.
    Thanks in advance.

    Did you collapse the folder?
In Files Panel (Local  View) click the plus sign next to your sitename to expand the site folder.

  • Where is "sort by type" in Local View?

I want to sort all my different files in the local view of a new site, but I can't for the life of me find where to do it. I even looked in the manual and couldn't find it. Someone told me there should be a "type" something to click, but he didn't mention where it was. It's not under File, Edit, View, or Site, and I don't see anywhere else to look.
I have Dreamweaver MX, btw. Thanks.

I just found that. The problem is - if you aren't in expanded view, the "type" header (or any other header) is absent. You won't find it anywhere. Fortunately for me, I found a snippet of info on expanded view in my MX book and checked it out.

  • Local views with NW2004s

In BW 3.5 there is the web item "Query View Selection" where a user has the possibility to create a own local view per template and also to delete it. In the new Java environment for NW2004s I don't see this possibility. I only have the options with save as... to create a global view or to save in the KM. Are there other options available which allows to achive similar functionalities?
Thank you very much for your input and best regards,

  • BEx Local View Changes

    Hi,
We have a query where customers are displayed in the rows and monthwise pending invoices are displayed in columns. This report shows one year worth of data when executed. One end user of the report wanted both month and customer in the rows, with a summary for the year.
Instead of changing the design of the query, we tried doing the same in Change Query -> Local Definition for that particular user. The problem arises here. We were allowed to move only the entire structure of key figures instead of one key figure at a time. Is this a property or how to solve this issue.
Inputs regarding this are highly appreciated.

    Hi Bhanu,
    Thanks for your response.
Well, in our scenario, we are interested in moving only the months Jan - Dec from columns to rows. Let the fields like number of pending invoices, invoice amounts stay in the columns area. How do we go about implementing this? If it is not possible in local view also, please give a solution.
In the current design, there are twelve columns for each month and 3 more key figures related to invoices like % pending, % cleared, # pending etc. All these are listed under one structure. In the rows area, we have region and customer id.

  • Local View Missing Something

In ver 7, while in the Local View/Remote View window, I would
have the local site and a My Computer tree I could open up and
locate other folders outside of my Local Site. How can I get this
tree (with the + sign) where I can open it up and grab pictures
from another folder ??? Ver 8 just shows only what is in this Local
    Folder.
    Any help would be great.

Click on the icon to the far right of the Files panel .. that
    will open the
site panel to full and the remote files are on the left,
    local on the right
    (unless you changed the preference).
