Re: iTunes Match on Mountain Lion doesn't work on my 2012 MacBook Pro. I had Lion before, and iTunes Match worked fine. Now it disconnects and back every few seconds. I tried resetting cache, iTunes, turning on/off match, but nothing works. Now what?
Jul 30, 2012 11:50 PM (in response to OneBigBear)
but Itunes Match works fine on my iMac and my iPhone 4 still.
Did you have iTunes Match on LION previously? or just on Mountain Lion ?
I can access all my content from my iPad, AppleTV and iPhone, just my Mac keeps retrying. I can even re-download songs to my Mac.

Ive just upgraded my late 2009 macbook, and things are not working properly. First of all, when I started the computer first time after installing Mountain Lion, some message advised me that some files were impossible to install. Once I wrote my password, and for now on, everytime I start the session, another window advise me that "Java SE 6" is missing, due that, the computer can't run some "CS5Service Manager". If I try to install it, the download ends with an error. If finally, you skip the istallation, you arrive to the dock, but the menu bar at the top of the screen doesn't show up.
In addition, my trackpad doesn't works either. I can move the arrow but i can't click anywhere, probably because the option of clicking by touching is disabeled and I can't performance a regular click.
I'll be very glad if someone know what the heck is happening with my computer. Anyway, I'm going to the genius bar next Saturday. Thx!We're sorry.

back in the days of leopard, the dashboard widgets would come to the foreground but you could still see what you were working on. Now I've updated to mountain lion and the work is no longer visible when I activate dashboard. Can I change that back?
Go to system preferences, mission control, and unselect "Show Dashboard as a Space". While you're there, you may want to make dashboard set to a hot corner "Hot Corners" button at the bottom.

Time Machine after Mountain Lion update
Hello
I'm hoping someone can provide some insight into this situation.
I upgraded to Mountain Lion on release day (July 25th) and seem to be having some issues with my Time Machine backups. I've noticed that when I enter Time Machine - I have NOTHING available pre upgrade date (July 25th). However, when I open my time machine preferences, it says right there that my oldest backup is 21, May, 2011 yet I cannot access this???
Did I lose everything I had pre upgrade?
Thanks in advance,
~C.Hi,
Shut down, and restart TM a few times has worked for some.
I, like always when installing a new OS X, use Disk Utility to erase the TM drive, and reselect the drive for TM use. The drive is only used for TM, and no other files are stored on it.
I, of course, made sure that the Mountain Lion load was working perfectly first. I like starting clean each time. This isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it is mine. I have an archival back up system as well - I'd never trust TM, solely, for my backups.
Cheers,
M. -
Numbers does not open with the main user after installing mountain lion. It works flawlessly when I use the second account on my mac. What got corrupted in the admin-account, something in the user-library? How can I fix it? I´m kinda desperate... (the same happens with the other iWork-Apps!)
Looking forward to hearing from somebody with a littlemore expertise than me, Chrisyou can remove preferences files by navigating to the Preferences folder for your user as follows:
0) Quit ALL iWork apps (Keynote, Pages and Numbers)
1) from the Finder select the menu item "Go > Go To Folder…". This will bring up a dialog:
2) enter the path "~/Library/Preferences" (no double quotes)
3) find the files:
com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist
com.apple.iWork.Numbers.plist
com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist
and move these to the trash. I would NOT empty until later.
4) restart Numbers -
I just purchased a MacBook Pro Retina. Checked my OSX and it is version 10.8.1... trying to find a way to upgrade to a higher version. In the app store it doesnt show the update nor downloading the new Mountain Lion OXS doesnt work. Please help
hienn,
Not yet. There was an upgrade page to 10.8.2 for the late 2012 models but it's down now. I have to assume that Apple pulled it because of some bugs. I would look for something next week, more likely than not. In the meantime, the OP should be good with 10.8.1 until the update shows up again.

HT4245 my iMessage on my macbook pro mountain lion won't work.
this is a very frustrating problem
my iMessage on my macbook pro mountain lion won't work.
it keeps on saying that ive entered the wrong passcode.
i even have my firewall turned off
plz helpOk...
So I bought my MacBook Pro second hand, and it came with no installation discs, but I got Mountain Lion and had it installed and decided to back it up to a disc in case of this scenario. I followed some instructions to make a bootable disc and used it to install a fresh copy of Mountain Lion back when I first got it.
My problem is that without the boot partition of my MacBook's hard drive it doesn't seem to want to boot the disc.
Since I didn't want to buy a disc and I don't have another MacBook or know anyone near me that does, I decided to download a hackintosh iso and use it along with my other laptop to install iPC 10.5.6....this installed successfully and my hopes were that my MacBook would be able to boot it, so I reinstalled my MacBook's hard drive and to my surprise it booted, although not normally. Since it is hackintosh it has some rewritten boot features so it's not a true OSX, but it is fully functional. Since I finally had OSX booted I figured I was in the clear and would be able to install Mountain Lion from this, but then I found out that you have to have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or later in order to install Mountain Lion.
Now I'm stuck with a hactintosh version of Lion and still no way to get back to Mountain Lion, is there anything I can do now that I have a functional OSX installation? -
I have read somewhere that the developers version of Mountain Lion would only work on the latest Macs and I was wondering whether the soon to be released version will be the same.
They have published this list of compatible machines.

I want to upgrade my machine with 16 GB RAM, it already has a G.Skill single RAM chip of 8gb. need help with the following. Will upgrading to 16Gb RAM on a Early 2011 2.7 Ghz i7 Macbook 13" cause any problem? Also i plan to upgrade to Mountain Lion, will it work?
It won't cause you any issues or problems....
it is however, suggested you install the same brand RAM that are of the same specs....
1333MHz........
Installing different brands with different CL speed might cause issues....
so if you already have a G.Skill RAM installed, then install the same brand. -
I cant restore from time machine after mountain lion update
i recentlz went to Apple Geius to get my HD formatted as i had a corrupt disk. Once cleaned and my hardware all verified as OK, i got the apple store to load Mountain Lion, previously running Snow Leopard. I came home conneted to my time machine and it restored evrything that from this mornings back up no issues.
When i try to access time machine to look at previous days back ups i get error code 6584
also time machine shows no dated back ups beyond today.
Any ideas?
thxs
SimonFirst, I strongly suggest that you make another full backup to a locally-attached external hard drive. You should do that anyway. One backup isn't enough to be safe, and backing up over a network is less reliable than backing up locally. Then try each of the following steps that you haven't already taken.
1. Restart the backup device. You can do that by disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord.
2. Hold down the option key and select Verify Backups from the TM menu in the menu bar (not the Dock icon.) This operation may take a long time. If the menu-bar icon (a clock that runs backwards) isn't showing, check Show Time Machine in menu bar in the preferences.
3. Erase the backup device. With a Time Capsule, you do that from within the AirPort Utility application; see its built-in help for details. All backups will be lost, so don't do this until you've backed up to another device. After erasing, select the TC again as a backup destination in the TM preference pane. The first backup should be made over a wired connection, if possible. -

Can you confirm whether any of this looks unusual compared to your own logging right at the point of backup?
Additionally, can you tell me what, in your normal backup, the next logged step is?

Time machine causing Mountain Lion to Hung
After I upgraded to mountain lion, I'm facing this problem very regulary. My observation is sometimes time machince backup is never ending and at that time if try to access any other application then they won't launch. If try to shutdown mac will go to a white sceen and won't get shutdown. I had to force restart mac every time this happens. Any help in resolving this would be a great help.

This is my setup for Time Machine backups which has worked fine up until and including Lion: I have a Mac mini (let's call its mini1) with an external disk that I'm using for Time Machine. mini1 is backing up to that disk, and Time Machine creates the backup folder directly on the disk. There is also another Mac mini (let's call its mini2) backing up to that same disk over the wireless network. Its backup folder is stored inside a disk image called mini2.
After upgrading to Mountain Lion this doesn't work so well any more. Every time Time Machine is trying to back up mini1, it tells me that the backup mini2 was started on another computer (or something like that) and gives me two options apart from postponing the backup. If I choose to "create a new backup", it continues to use the old mini1 backup by adding another folder inside the backup folder at the root level of the hard drive. This is of course what I want and what it has always done before, but I have to answer this question every time the backup runs. If I choose to "continue with the old backup", it hijacks the mini2 backup which of course belongs to the other computer. Its contents are erased, and a new fresh backup is started inside the disk image.
What is going on? As you can see the two computers have different names (and they are much more different in reality than in this example), and this has always worked before. Has something changed in Mountain Lion?AR757 wrote:
I have an update to my situation:
After a while, the time machine entered the backup phase, but then it stopped and said the hard drive (for the backup) was ejected incorrectly. Obviously I didn't eject or disconnect the hard rive while it was working. Still looking for answers. Thanks
May be as little as a loose or faulty cable or plug, of maybe even a USB port. Try another cord and another USB input.
