LocalStorage in iBooks without iTunes Author?

I'm trying to find a way to make localStorage work for a regular ePub3 file. The goal is to create an chapter1.xhtml, that will offer a quiz with a number of radio buttons and and a button that calls a JS funcion to store the value of those clicked buttons into an Array in localStorage (this works so far). On chapter2.xhtml there will be a button who calls this Array and will show the stored values via alert.
I finally made it work for readium and all available browsers. Sadly iBooks won't give me the chance to see if this all works, because it's not showing any alert at all. I also tried to write the values into an exisiting <p> - Section via an other JS function. No way to proof this, because iBooks won't show anything.
Does anyone have a solution for my problem? That would be awesome.

Image swipe on iBooks without the use of iBooks Author

Im working on an e-book using calibre and dreamW. It contains lots of pictures. What i want to do is tap on one picture, make it pop at you (make it larger, just like it does when you tap on an image) but then from that be able to swipe to the next image, swipe back and so on. I manage to use JavaScript and make it happen in html, but not in xhtml...
So i would really like to know before going any further, Is this action possible for iBooks without the use of ibooks Author?? in other words: Does iBooks allow the swiping gesture to see images within the normal swiping of the page

If you're looking to trap the swipe gesture and take some custom action with it, yes, it's easily doable within a hand-coded ePub and iBooks. We do it in our books to suppress the normal page turn response on certain controls. Trap the move event, act on it, and preventdefault.

How to add files ( music, movies, ibooks) from itunes to your idevice without deleting the exicting files on the idevice??

I have tried to add ibooks to my iphone 5 and I was successful. But when I tried to import the same ibooks from itunes to my ipad 2. It showed up a messege asking me if I wanted to delete the exicting files on my ipad in order to add ibooks? How can I add ibooks without deleting everything on my ipad 2?

Those songs that were purchased from iTunes will be available to redownload from Itunes for free. They are still available after you delete them from your phone.
Any that you did not purchase from iTunes, you can either use iTunes Match, otherwise you will loose these songs.

Let me explain a little more. I had downloaded a lot of free books in the past as a trial when iBooks was first released and since then I have decided I no longer want them, because of this I hid them from the purchased section of the iBooks store. The 5 books left are ones I decided to keep as seen in the following picture.
This is how it appears in iBooks on my mac. There are 4 books downloaded and 1 book that I have decided not to download at this time. I would still like to keep this book available in the cloud incase I want to download it again in the future. You’ll notice that hide iCloud books is not selected, if I wanted to hide the book that I have chosen to keep in the cloud, but have not downloaded yet I could.
This is exactly how I think this feature should work. If you have hidden a book from your purchases it should not show up in the mac Ibooks app. (I am aware you can never actually delete a purchase, just hide them and that hidden purchases can be restored to your account from within the account management section of the iBooks store).
The iOS app is working differently for me. Here is a picture of the purchased tab on the iBooks store in iOS Ibooks. Again notice that pictures of Lilly is still yet to be downloaded. This is how I expected it to look.

Interestingly I have the same issue on my iPhone 6 running iOS 8.3 as I do on my iPad mini suggesting that this might be an issue either with my account or with iOS iBooks software in general.

Error getting an iBook to iTunes

Need your help..
I created my first iBook using iBook Author tool, and this is picture book with lot of pictures and stories etc. About 250 MB size..
It worked just great on my iPad after exporting as an iBooks format and now trying to get this to iTunes. To upload this in iTunes, I'm getting my friends help in US, and the following errors are kept coming up.
Messages:

First time I got this error I thought it is to do with the particular .jpeg file, and I went back to iBook author tool, removed the picture, again took the new picture with a shorter name and converted to a new book (with new file name with the date as you can see in the second error message). Still getting the same error,.
I spent about 3 days researching on the OPF etc, but iBook author will never tell me how to fix. I even tried to do a validation using an external EPUB validator, but that app will not accept .iBooks format.
To speak, I'm really lost - worried that my effort of 8 months on this book will be futile now. I tried nearly every discussion group suggestion, but have no way to understand what is going on from iBook author tool.
By the way - this is my assumption : I've EXPORTED the .iba file from iBook author to .iBooks format and sharing only this file with my friend to upload to iTunes. I know there is another option to directly publish an iBook from the authoring tool, but that will open up the iConnect site.

There's nothing wrong with the 'itunes:author' tag of itself, but it's meaningless without the 'itunes delcaration' in the second line. The first two lines of your feed should look like this:

<rss xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd" version="2.0">
Even so it doesn't constitute a podcast feed, though I assume you are planning on adding episodes. You may find it helpful to look at this page, which gives you some background and includes a sample basic feed:

If you have further queries and have got as far as posting the feed to a server it's more useful to have the URL than the text of the feed.

How do I make my books available in iBooks on iTunes? I am an author, not developer.

This thread is almost two years old now. I'd suggest you start a new topic with your issue (use the "Start a discussion" link under the Actions header at the upper-right of each main topic page). It's generally better to ask a question as a new topic rather than as a reply in someone else's thread. It's more courteous to the original poster, and is more likely to get your question the attention it deserves. If you're using iBooks Author, there's a forum specifically for that.

Delete ibooks from itunes

I have been working in iBooks Author and have done a couple of exports to iTunes of my book. I get multipule titles of same book. How do I delete books from listing?

The solution mentioned here didn't work for me, however the rejection beep tone coming out of my Mac was more than I want to hear this morning. (remember to turn volume down)
In iTunes 12.1.2, iBooks is managed through the iBooks app on your Mac. (Funny I never noticed Apple adding iBooks to my OS, but than I only ever add pdf's to my iPad and then it gets synced to my Mac later.)
Open your iBooks App right click on the book or PDF you wish to remove
For those with Windows Mouse permanently stuck in there heads. right click on the file, and a dialog box pops
Select "Delete" and click
You'll be asked to verify the delete request, (Yes or No).
Now when you go back to iTunes iBooks, those items will be GONE.
Funny, not even Apple has a hint that iBooks in iTunes is managed from iBooks the OS App, at least in my review of the iTunes manual.
Apple Community is and has always been the best source for resolving and answering user questions.

Sync side-loaded iBook via iTunes?

I exported an iBook from "iBooks Author" and I successfully side-loaded the iBook to my iPad via DropBox. I'm aware that it's also possible for an iPad user to download an iBook into their iPad via a webpage.
Has anyone successfully side-loaded an iBook (with interactive and multimedia widgets) by importing it into iTunes then syncing their iPad or manually transferring it via iTunes?

I did it successfully! I just now:
1. In iTunes, I chose the "Books" category from the little drop-down menu at left,
2. Used File -> Add to Library ...
3. Imported my iBook into iTunes
4. When I started to drag the iBook icon towards the right, a panel displayed at right that contained an icon representing my iPad ... I dropped the iBook icon onto the iPad
5. The iBook opened within the "iBooks" app on my iPad

For instance; it seems on the net I see that many Tom Clancy books are availbe on ibooks, but i can not just look them up on my phone. along with many other authors. in the Category section, when trying to browse, many of the categories do not contain any authors or titles at all. this goes for many "i" apps.

Yes, you would need an internet connection to download. Once that's done and you've opened the epub in iBooks the first time, you should not need WiFi again.

How can I view my full billing history for the app and music stores without iTunes installed?

I just received an email receipt from Paypal showing a $12.99 purchase from iTunes. I almost NEVER purchase anything over around five dollars in the app or music store. Since PayPal does not show what this purchase was for, I have not received the receipt from Apple yet, and I cannot find anyway to look up online what this purchase was for....I need help to find out ASAP what this purchase was. If my account has been compromised or if I have been incorrectly charged for something, I would like to get the issue handled immediately. I do not want to install iTunes on my PC (nor should I have to for Pete's sake), but I cannot see anything recent at all in my app or music history on my iPad (not that I would ever purchase anything for $12.99 anyway...I just don't). How to re-load OS 3.0 without iTunes? My iPhone has a NON-Apple alien OS.

My iPhone has a NON-Apple alien Chinese OS running. This OS caused iTunes to NOT see the phone on USB when I connect the phone to the computer. I want to re-load the non-Apple OS to Apple version 3.0 but I cannot because iTunes does not see the phone. I know the os is Chinese and alien because none of the icons are correct, example I see no ipod, its labeled audioplayer. I see no Safari, its labeled services and so on. I also can NOT see the about, its not found. I have a video recorder it works, I thought iPhone 3G can not run videos. I have lots of Chinese games and symbols. I do have the at&t SIM, it works OK, and I just want to load the phone with the latest Apple 3G version 3.0 OS and have iTunes see the phone like every other American iPhone but I can not figure out how to do that without iTunes seeing the iPhone.

I took the phone to the Apple store in my mall. The Apple experts at my mall have never seen anything like this phone. It's totally functioning like an iPhone but its not one. The dimensions of the case are exact same size as the iPhone 3g we put them side by side. Then we also noticed that the screen is about 1/4 inch shorter than the touch screen of the real Apple iPhone this is the ONLY physical give away other than then OS its running. The person I spoke to worked at the store for 2 years and he never saw such a close copy that works so well. Its almost like they took a real Apple case and replaced the circuits with a copy. The funny thing is the fake phone works really good. I just can NOT get iTunes to load. I can copy and paste music videos, pictures, files to the phone and it all works OK on the phone. The voice calls are good. The video is great that it shoots, the camera is great! I will see if I can load apps, I have not tried yet. I wish I could figure out who made this unique clone alien phone. The quality is up there with Apple. I am starting to like this phone because its so different!!!! How to delete tune without iTunes

I have a problem, I have some old podcast which I like to keep on my harddrive. Then I got the ipod, so I want to store the podcast episodes there. But dragging direct from Finder to ipod show me it copied but didn't appear under podcast. I found out after a few trial and error that I should have added the podcast to iTunes before dragging into ipod. So...
Good : Finder -> iTunes Podcast -> iPod
Bad : Finder -> iPod
So now those files I drag direct from finder into ipod are in the ipod but I can't get rid of them, cause they don't show up in the iTunes list. It shows up in Senuti and iPodDisk, but both don't allow me to delete the song. Now I can't drag those podcast episodes in to ipod from iTunes podcast anymore. It somehow recognise that the file exist on the ipod but wouldn't list it on the podcast.
So, back to the question, How to delete tune without iTunes?? thanks

Did you try using the Finder? I'm trying to accomplish similar management tasks. Finder seems far superior to itune management, for podcasts management. This might work-- First quit itunes.
Use a finder window, not spotlight, search itunes and single-click on any folder by that name. Notice which of these files is in your startup disc (in case you have other bootable drives connected)-- Notice the little icons on the bottom of the Finder window. Double click on "iTunes Music" at the window bottom. A new Finder window should open. I recomend the list mode, selectable at the top left of Finder window. Now you should be able to view all your itune- contents on the computer. It seems these files can be deleted, but one must remeber to empty trash before going further. Unfortunately this approach won't allow adding new folders that will show up in itunes.

She has a sim card on the same network so she can put the sim in and use it straightaway but all of my data and apps stay on there. How can I restore the phone to factory settings for her to use without itunes automaticly trying to restore it to the back up data to my last back up?

You will find a list of your iDevice Backups there:
Edit (Control+,) - Preferences - Devices
Delete the Backups you don't need anymore, but if you delete all Backups you can't restore your iPhone.
