  • The step-by-step guide for installing the Oracle Database and Oracle9iAS Portal

    All,
I made a step-by-step guide for installing the Oracle 8.1.7 database and Oracle9iAS 1.0.2.1 (HTTP Only) install on a 'clean' Windows 2000 machine. The guide has a screen shot of every single step that I went through to get an installation of the database and Oracle9iAS Portal to work.
Because I left my email in the guide, everyone will be sending me email with questions about their particular install. [What I really wanted was some positive feedback email to show to my manager... hint hint.] As I do not want to troubleshoot everyone's install by email, I started this thread.
Let's start the step-by-step install guide discussion here.
As a start, here is what I did NOT want to do with the guide: I did not want to 'redo' the current Oracle9iAS installation guide. So I did not put any conditions in the guide. This is just what I had to do to take a clean Windows2000 machine (no Oracle software on it) and get it to work. If I keep on adding conditions, eventually I will end up with the installation document.
Also, in the next version (for the Oracle9iAS 1.0.2.2) I will probably start over again from scratch as we are planning on addressing some of the issues with the install.
Another thing I plan to do is put the following direct links in:
    Oracle9iAS Portal: Troubleshooting Guide
    Oracle9iAS Portal: Diagnostics Tool
    Oracle9iAS Portal: FAQ
Have a look at the above, as they will answer probably all of your questions... But if not post away!
    Thanks,
    Rich

We do have installed a Lotus Notes LDAP. Unfortunately, the documentation is company internal in German.
    The steps, in general, where:
    1) Create physical connection (obviously, you did that)
    2) Deploy the XML Descriptor for the LDAP under "UM Configuration => Data Sources"
We used a derivate of the Sun One LDAP Profile.
    3) Match the assignement LDAP Group --> EP Role --> EP User via EP user management
    4. The user, in our case, is always created in the LDAP first (from a different LDA administration group) and is then visible in the Portal)
I know, this is very generic, but the "magic" is in the XML profile and I haven't seen any documentation about it yet.

  • Quick guide for ALE scenario

    Hello,
I am trying to set up a scenario for ALE to upload data from a flat file into R/3, using one of the standard IDOC types. This is in contrast to using a BAPI, because there is no BAPI for this data (SD Pricing Conditions).
Is there a quick guide to setting up such a scenario, (i.e. processing a flat file in the same system, and not distributing it elsewhere) that shows in easy steps what needs to be done?
I know about the direct input method to create condition records, but I would also need to change existing ones (for which I'm hoping to use the IDOC type COND_A02).
Also, I'm hoping to avoid using Batch Input.
If anybody can explain what needs to be done in a few steps, or can point me to such a guide, I would be most grateful (and will show my gratitude in points

    Hi!
    Refer to http://membres.lycos.fr/benjaminroger/pg_sap/documentation_fabricom/MM/

  • How To Guide: for installing Content DB 10.2 on 3 hosts

    Hi,
Could you please tell me if it's possible to access a step by step guide instructions for installing Content DB 10.2 on 3 hosts:
one host for --> AS Infra R2 (10.1.2.0.2)
one host for --> Oracle Database 10.1.0.5 or 10.2.0.2
one host for --> Content DB 10.2
On other hand, is it required to apply 10.2.0.2 Patch Set on Oracle Database 10.2.0.1
    for Content DB 10.2 installation?
Great thanks in advance for any of your advices.
    Best regards.

Metalink may contain some NOTEs detailing the end-to-end steps to install Content DB.
For Database install on Linux, http://www.puschitz.com/ has some great guides.
Content DB will install against any 10.2.x database.
It is worth while patching the 10g database home software to the latest patchset release prior to actually creating the database. This will save considerable time in comparison to applying any patchsets post database creation (and Content DB integration).
    thanks

  • Guide for installing and tuning a Vista 64 PC

Yes, I'm going to tax your patience again. This is a guide to setup Vista 64 for NLE work, well it actually applies to any kind of work, but NLE machines may profit more than an Office/MSN machine. One caveat: What I suggest here is a lean and mean machine that is mainly dedicated to NLE work.
First: It is always best to start with a clean install and a complete reformat of the disk. That will ensure that your registry is clean and leaves no leftovers from a previous install. Do not partition the drive, format the whole disk as one.
After installation has completed, first select Control Panel and Personalize. Select Change Desktop icons and ensure that at least Computer is selected. You can choose other icons as well if you want to. I have all 5 selected.
Next check Device Manager (right click This Computer, select Properties and then Device Manager) that you have no problems with drivers for any of your hardware. If there are any yellow exclamation symbols, solve these issues first by having Vista search for drivers and if it comes back with the message that no drivers could be found, get the latest 64 bit driver from the internet for this device.
Once Device Manager has no more problems, go to Windows update and install all critical updates. Nothing more at this moment. After installation and rebooting, again check Device Manager for problems. There should be none. Otherwise get on the internet again and reinstall the latest Vista 64 drivers. Next right chick This Computer and select Manage and go to Event Viewer. Open the Windows Logs and click on System. Scroll through the events and check out any errors or warnings you see. Search the Microsoft Technet for solutions. This is the link to the very informative Technet site to help you solve any issues you may have: Microsoft Technet
Next go to Control Panel, select Programs and Features and select turn Windows features on or off. You may not need anymore than these Windows Features and possibly less, for instance if you don't use a network printer. Also this may be a good moment to turn off User Account Control via Control Panel/Security Settings.
Next go to Vista Services and use the instructions and the table shown to modify the services, so only those are started that are needed in your situation. Anything not needed will only increase boot time and will consume resources, placing a higher overhead on the system than needed.
After rebooting, update all your drivers if you have not already done so. For instance, if you have an ATI card, download the latest drivers, but remember you can do without the Catalyst Control Center. Their drivers are typically denoted by y.m (year, month) so currently the latest is version 9.5
Now go to Control Panel, System and select Advanced system settings, select Visual Effects and select Adjust for best performance, apply and then select the Advanced tab, click on Performance settings, select the Advanced tab, Select Adjust for best performance of programs and then change the Virtual memory. Setup your pagefile with a custom size with equal numbers for Initial and Maximum size on another drive than your C disk and set the C drive to No paging file. If you have read my Storage rules for an editing rig guide, you know you need a fixed size of around 1 to 1.5 times installed memory, unless you have lots of RAM, then you can easily go lower.
Reboot and right click on This Computer, select Manage and select Disk Management. Select drive C, right click Properties and make sure that Index this drive for faster searching and Compress this drive to save disk space are both turned off. Click Disk Cleanup and clean what can be deleted. Repeat these steps for all of your drives. Next go to the Tools tab and select Defragment Now and defrag all drives. While you are at the Disk Defragment window, setup a daily defragging schedule, for instance during your lunch break. That will keep your disks optimized.
This will make sure that the space previously occupied by the pagefile on the C drive is reclaimed and that the new pagefile on another drive is not fragmented and at the very beginning of the drive in the fastest location (at least if the disk was newly formatted and not used).
If you haven't done so yet, completely turn off the Sidebar and do not have it autostart.
No application has been installed yet, so it is time to start with some essential utilities.
The first thing I do is turning off Windows Defender and install Symantec Endpoint Protection.
Next I install Ccleaner. A very handy freeware tool to keep your system and the registry clean and to remove or disable registry based auto startup programs.
The next one to install is the Sysinternals Suite and most notably Process Explorer, Process Monitor and Autoruns. Depending on your use, other utilities in the Suite may be nice to install as well. Installation is done by extracting the relevant files to the C:\Windows directory. Run Process Explorer once and in the Options menu select Replace Task Manager.
Other utilities I install (but of course you may have different favorites) are Beyond Compare, HWMonitor, SpeedFan, SnagIt and 1ClickPCFix
You are now ready to install your regular software. After installation, registration and activation of all your software use Ccleaner, Tools to check for unnecessary Startup entries in the registry. Disable or remove them. Next check your registry by scanning for issues and fix selected issues. Defragment all your disks again and make a restore point.
If you want to get rid of the ridiculously large shortcut arrow at this moment, go to this site: Remove Shortcut Arrow and follow Method 1.
Reboot and you are ready to go with a hopefully much faster and efficient Vista machine.
If you encounter difficulties and have problems that want to ask about on the forum, be prepared to include a screenshot from Process Explorer and either HWMonitor or Speedfan and a link to DXDIAG.txt
Thanks for your patience and I hope you have found some tips and tricks to improve performance.

    Quoted from Harm's original post:
"First: It is always best to start with a clean install and a complete reformat of the disk. That will ensure that your registry is clean and leaves no leftovers from a previous install. Do not partition the drive, format the whole disk as one."
I guess I started off on the wrong foot. I just restored my computer to factory condition, which includes a partitioned "Factory Image" which enabled me to restore the machine. Should I be concerned with this? The system drive is actually a 2-drive RAID 0 from factory.
Could I have done this differently?

  • Is there a guide for installing an OS into an LDOM without netbooting?

I have been looking for an install guide that specifically mentions how to install into an LDOM without jumpstarting. There are a few hints about mounting an ISO, but that has not worked for me. I am using a T2000, with Firmware 6.4.6 and LDOM 1.0 software.

Installing from an ISO/DVD is possible with OpenSolaris - snv_77 or later. The support will also be in S10U5.

  • Quick Guide/Intro for applying  PL-SQL onto OracleExpress?

    Hello,
is there a quick guide for applying a PL-SQL script onto an existing Oracle Express installation (under WinXP) ?
I just need a step-by-step guide on how to apply a sample PL-SQL
script (e.g. with a CREATE TABLE statement) onto Oracle.
Is there a comand line interface similar to
    oracle.exe -script myplsqslscript.txt -logfile out.log
or is there a menu + entry field in the browser interface of Oracle where I
can specify the PL-SQL script which should be applied?
Do PL-SQL scripts need a special file name extension ?
Is there a simple PL-SQL sample which creates a table, inserts a sample record into it and lists all existing tables ?
    I don't need a general database/SQL tutorial!
    Thank you in advance
    Peter

    Use either SQLPlus
    sqlplus username/password@connect_string
Or XE built in tool, cannnot remeber exactly by heart - but something like SQL->Scripts or something similar. You can upload, create, run and save scripts there.

  • Guide to install 10g on MSCS

    Hello all,
Is there any step-by-step guide for installing Oracle on MSCS, or is it the same way we install on any server.
We want to install Oracle 10g (.2) on IBM HS20.
    Is Oracle Fail Safe required?
It'd be good if I can get any document related to that.
    Please advice
    Luckys

    hi,
Oracle Fail Safe Integration with Windows
Oracle Fail Safe ensures that Oracle Database (and also other Oracle and third-party applications) can be configured and managed for high availability on Windows clusters. An instance runs on only one node at a time.
A cluster is a group of independent computing systems that operates as a single virtual system, eliminating individual host systems as points of failure. Oracle Fail Safe works with Microsoft Cluster Server to ensure that if a failure occurs on one cluster system, then workloads running on that system fail over quickly and automatically to a surviving system. Oracle Database combined with Oracle Fail Safe on a Windows cluster ensures protection from both hardware and software failures.
For well-configured solutions, Oracle Fail Safe ensures a surviving system to be operational in less than a minute, even for heavily-used databases.
    Note:
Windows XP does not support the clustering technology found in Microsoft Cluster Server. Therefore, Oracle Fail Safe Server, which integrates with Microsoft Cluster Server, is not supported on Windows XP. Oracle Fail Safe Manager Console is supported.

  • Feature GUID for list template 10113 is not installed in the farm

I'm just using a trial of a migration product called Sharegate and it has produced the following error when i connect it to my farm "Feature GUID for list template 10113 is not installed in the farm"
I've used the missing feature project from codeplex and the wssanalyzefeatures tool and none of them are reporting any issues or even for my guid.
Could anyone provide any other tips to try and locate this via powershell or the sql database?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you got the “Feature GUID for list template 10113 is not installed in the farm” error.
The reality is that the feature is installed but has the old feature ID.
    As a workaround, you can
Go to the concerned feature in the 14 hives, you need to know which feature is concerned with that functionality.
Change the feature ID to the one raised in the error
stsadm -o installfeature -name <Feature> -force
In addition, you can change the ‘Scope’ attribute to either ‘Farm’ or ‘Site’ or ‘Web’ or ‘WebApplication’.

  • Installed Photoshop Elements 13. Opened program.  FYI, I work w/3 screens.  Appears in center screen, too wide and cannot minimize it.  Line across top reads eLive, Quick, Guided, Expert.  Only eLive works.  Gray screen on rest.

I have installed Elements 13.  The screen stretches too wide on the screen and I can't see the edges at all to minimize or exit.  Across the top I read eLive, Quick, Guided and Expert.  Only eLive comes up with anything at all.  If I click on the others, I just get a gray screen.  I am running Windows 8.1 x64.  Thanks.

    Hi,
I'm from germany so no 'best buy' but I think I will lock around sleeve/bag for a different product with same measures. Any tip?
The clear plastic case is not what I want. I would like to use the player without such protections. I just want a sleeve to protect the player while its in my jacket/pants.
Btw, i have bought this version: Creative Zen (maybe european version?). I also doesn't seem to have your mentioned sleeve. I also couldn't find it on the website.
    Anyway, thank you,
