Locating Library/InputManger folder

I am unable to locate InputManager folder
I have searched in/with the finder both under my user (only one) and on computer.
I go to Finder then Mac HD then Library then... only "I" is Internet Plug-Ins.
When I go to Finder under my user then Library, there is Index,Internet Plug-Ins, Internet Search Sites and iTunes - thats it for the "I"s
What am I doing wrong?

Hi Robert,
What am I doing wrong?
Nothing. The InputManagers folders will only be present if an application wants to install something under those locations. They don't exist by default.

Also, does reinstallation takes the back up automatically or the files will be lost. Please help.

Here are a bunch of scripts to get folder size under all circumstances.  Take your pick.

  • Why are there no sounds located in the Library/Sounds folder in Home Directory? My Mail alerts, etc

Why are there no sounds located in the Library/Sounds folder in my Home Directory? Since upgrading to Mountain Lion most of my sounds are not working, in my Mail alerts, etc.

Did you put any sound files there? Because if you didn't, that will explain why it's empty.
The ~/Library/Sounds folder is where any sound files that you add go, and they are only available to you as the "logged in" user (if you have other users with their own accounts, they each have their own ~/Library/Sounds folder). Apple doesn't put anything there.
The sounds that come with Mac OS X will either be in the /Library/Sounds folder (which is the shared location for all users) or the /System/Library/Sounds folder (don't mess around with anything in the /System folder!).
But I doubt your problem has anything to do with the sound files. Try deleting your sound preferences file, or even just clicking around in the Sound system preferences until they start working again (seriously - I had one Mac that had some audio problems after upgrading, and just turning things off and on a few times eventually worked. It seemed somehow tied to Dictation, so try twiddling those settings too).

I redirected iTunes to an external drive and moved my iTunes library and folder, but my hard drive is still low on space.  How can I be sure that my music is all on the external HD ONLY, especially with the new iCloud technology?  It doesn't look like I created any more space by doing this, AND I totally lost all my iTunes playlists.  I'm not sure if because I added old library materials manually if this messed up my playlists, or if the new location is just not reading my moved library.  In any case, I followed step by step instructions and found a few holes and thought I'd just "figure it out" but I guess I'm not as smart as I thought since I'm still scratching my head many hours later.
    Thanks for any support ;-)

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.
If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

  • How can I move the ~/Library/Mail folder?

I partition my hard drives into Startup/OSX, Tools, and several data volumes. I would MUCH rather store email and attachments in a data volume, as I do all my other work product, big application caches, Music, and Pictures folders. I have tried aliases and symbolic links, and everything is ignored by Mail; no mailbox is recognized unless it is in the original location, unlike Pictures, Music, Movies, etc.
I would appreciate having control over this. Does anyone have ay tips or workarounds? I am capable of diddling plists and other config files at a fairly low level, if necessary.

If you are keeping virtually everything in your Home folder on a different volume, then perhaps a better solution is to move the entire Home folder. You can move the entire Home folder to another volume, then direct Leopard to use the Home folder in the new location.
Open Accounts preferences, click on the lock icon and authenticate. Click on your account entry then CTRL- or RIGHT-click and select Advanced Options from the contextual menu. To the right of the field labeled "Home Directory" is a button labeled "Choose." Click on the button, locate your new Home folder, select it and click on the Open button. Now restart the computer. You should now be using the relocated Home folder.
Now, if you would rather not do that then you can move the /Home/Library/Mail/ folder to the other drive. You will then need to create a soft link to this location using the Terminal command "ln -s source target" without quotes. You must first delete the original /Home/Library/Mail/ folder. So your command may look like:
    ln -s /Volumes/volname/PathToNew/Mail ~/Library/Mail
The "~" tilde is the Unix shorthand for your user folder.
This should create a new folder in /Home/Library/ named Mail which is a symbolic link to the relocated Mail folder.

  • Problem on PC: During import, I can locate the sources folder however the photo do not display. Was working fine.

Problem on PC: During import, I can locate the sources folder however the photo do not display. Was working fine. All file types, Lightroom is no longer recognising the images to import, The panel that usually displays them remains empty.  Try using backup versions, removing software that could conflict , still no joy, has anyone had this problem?

    Did you follow this procedure?
Our iTunes guru Terence Devlin advises the following:
    1. Quit iTunes
    2. Drag the iTunes folder from your internal hd - located in ~/Music folder - to your external hd. DO NOT delete the original one from your internal hd... yet!
    3. When the transfer is complete, press and hold the Option(alt) key and fire up iTunes.
    4. A "Choose iTunes Library" window will come up. Click on the "Choose Library" button.
    5. Navigate to where the iTunes folder is located in the external hd.
    6. Within the iTunes folder, select the iTunes Library file and click Choose...
That's it. iTunes will now display all your playlists, songs, movies, podcasts etc. At this point, should you wish, you can delete the iTunes folder from the internal hd to free up space.

  • How to check the location of download folder programmatically in browsers like Safari, Firefox etc on Mac?

I am a part of Automation testing and I am downloading and installing the files programmatically with Selenium and Applescript on Mac. Is their any way to check the location of download folder on browsers programmatically?? if so pls suggest and also ways to change the location of download folder in Java or Applescript.

You will need to read and write to preference files. A job best suited for the shell with either command line tool, defaults or PlistBuddy. Each application preference file has its own structure. Reading Safari's preference file is easy.
    defaults read $HOME/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari DownloadsPath
Firefox isn't as clear but this should give you the download path.
    defaults read $HOME/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.firefox NSNavLastRootDirectory
Firefox also keeps a sqlite database of downloads which may be useful to query. Command line tools can be wrapped in Applescript. Also, programmatically changing preference files on an open application is discouraged.

  • "iPhoto Library" icon/folder deleted by mistake, how do i recover it?

Fist off i am not a iMac genius, so bear with me as you read .  I Just bought an Imac (21.5 monitor and 1TB with OS X Lion 2012 version).  After transferring all my photos in the "Picture" folder (click, drag and drop into the "finder" then into the "picture" folder (not iPhoto yet) I then selected all the photos (dozens of folders and over 8,000 photos) click and drag then into iPhoto and they all successfully transferred (which took several minutes).  I noticed when transferring most of the photos over it gave me the option to either transfer or discard duplicates, i chose to not import the duplicates.  Since i had ALL my photos in iPhoto i decided to delete the old file that i copied earlier and empty the trash.  In the deleting frenzy i accidentally deleted the "iPhoto Library" icon/folder )or whatever that picture is) and every time I open up iPhoto now it asked to either locate "iPhoto Album 1" (which can not be found) or start another album (which would be "iphoto Library 2" which opens up with none of my pictures.)  Sooooo, after freaking out i downloaded 2 file recovery software program which seems to have found most if not all the pics (still need to pay to get a key code to get them back), however since i delted the photos that transferred into the finder>picture folder and did not delete any photos form iPhoto itself is there a way to get back the "iPhoto Library" that housed all my pictures?  In theory all my pics are still in the hard drive but i do not know where to look for that little "iPhoto Library" icon/folder.  What is the best Apple/Mac recovery software to purchase to get them back?  Or are they all the same?  Or is there a file buried deep in the hard drive that are hiding all my photos that tech support can guide me to?  And if there is, how to i search for that?  Any help would be great!

however since i delted the photos that transferred into the finder>picture folder and did not delete any photos form iPhoto itself is there a way to get back the "iPhoto Library" that housed all my pictures?
    No.
Inside that package are thouands of files - your photos, thumbnails, face thumbnails, database, metadata, cache and other files. To reconstruct the Library you would need to get all of these in exactly all the correct locations. That's not going to happen.
Best you can hope for is to recover the actual photos and then start over from scratch.
Unless you have a back up of course...
    Do you?

    Richard
    thanks

I'm not certain, but it sounds like you are describing missing file syndrome where tracks show up with exclamation marks...
This normally happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. It may be a by-product of the way you moved the library. Other possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • Download all excel files from sharepoint location to local folder

    Hi,
How to I copy all excel files stored at sharepoint location to local folder?
    Regards,
    Nidhi

    Hi NidhiP,
To download Excel files from a SharePoint library by using SSIS, we need to make use of the Script Task. In the Script Task, we can use the methods provided by
Lists Web Service to work with SharePoint files, and then use the
    WebClient.DownloadFile Method or
FileStream Class to transfer the files from SharePoint to local file system.

  • About to fit SSD to take OS & Apps - can I locate my Home folder on another drive?

    Hi community.
I am shortly to fit a new SSD (probably 240GB) in the primary bay of my MacBook Pro (17", 2.66GHz i7, mid 2010, model MacBookPro6'1). I'm going to retain the existing 500GB drive and mount it in the optical drive bay for data. I will be installing Mountain Lion as the OS on the SSD to begin with (I may upgrade to Mavericks). I will then be running Boot Camp to partition the SSD (probably 120/120) and install Windows 7 (I am doing this to run Autodesk Revit for a course).
My current drive has some 150GB of space used, 107GB of that in the Users folder. What I want to do is locate all of that data on the drive that will be in the optical drive bay. I assume that's feasible enough? Any reason I shouldn't do it? Any other wisdom to offer?
    Thanks in advance.

    You can and should.
How to use an SSD with your HDD
If you are going to use an SSD as a boot drive together with your existing HDD as the "data" drive, here's what you can do.
After installing the SSD you will need to partition and format the SSD using Disk Utility. Then, install OS X on the SSD. After OS X has been installed boot from the SSD. Use Startup Disk preferences to set the SSD as the startup volume.
Open Users & Groups preferences. Click on the lock icon and authenticate. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on your user account listing in the sidebar and select Advanced Options from the context menu.
You will see a field labeled "Home dir:" At the right end you will see a Change button. Click on it. In the file dialog locate the Home folder now located on the HDD (HDD/Users/account_name/.) Select the folder, click on Open button. Restart the computer as directed.
When the computer boots up it will now be using the Home folder located on the HDD.
Another more technical method involving the Terminal and aliases is discussed in depth here: Using OS X with an SSD plus HDD setup - Matt Gemmell. This is my preferred approach because I can select which of the Home's folders I want on the HDD and which I don't want. For example, I like to keep the Documents and Library folders on the SSD because I access their content frequently.
Be sure you retain the fully bootable system on your HDD in case you ever need it.

  • How do I save a location to a folder that has already been established

I want to save a new location to a folder that contains like subjects. How do I accomplish this? In IE you get a drop down list of all current folders from which to choose. I do not see this feature in Firefox

    See:
    *Add Bookmark Here 2: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/add-bookmark-here-2/
    * Clicking the star in the location bar will bookmark the page in the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder and the star turns yellow (blue on Mac) to show that.
    * The "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder shows in the sidebar and the Library, but not in the Bookmarks menu drop down list.
    * Bookmarks > "Bookmark This Page" (Ctrl+D) will bookmark the page in the Bookmarks Menu folder (you need to confirm that).
    * "Bookmark This Page" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of that browser page or by using the keyboard (Alt+B) to open the bookmarks menu.
    * If the URL in the location bar is bookmarked (star at the right end is yellow/blue) then click the highlighted star or use "Bookmark This Page" (Ctrl+D) to edit the properties of the bookmark (name, location) and move it to another folder or remove the bookmark.
    * Click the star at the right end of the location bar once to bookmark the current site and click the highlighted star a second time to open the "Edit This Bookmark" window and move the bookmark to another folder or edit the name.

  • Folder is no longer in this location? But Folder Still There

I have Windows 7 and PrE 9. I was working on a folder/project on an external drive and had no problem accessing the avi or other folders in the drive. Once I was satisfied I no longer needed the project (about 14 GB) I deleted the project. I got a pop up window saying the folder was no longer in this location. What the heck? I was just working on it. I checked the folder again, everything was still there and functional. I then tried to cut and paste the folder to my main drive to see if I could delet it from there.
It started out as a normal transfer of files and then gave the message that the folder being transferred was no longer in that location. Ok. I rechecked the Project folder and it was still there but....All of the folders inside were gone except a Stop Capture folder of Zero bites. It still says the folder isn't there lol. Even though it says Zero bites I would like to get rid of this folder and the stop capture folder inside. I had two other projects right next to the one still there and they deleted fine.
Is this a Windows 7 thing and have you guys had this happen? I have one other folder on my desktop from a couple years back with the same scenario. Says its not there so I can't delete it. I just labeled it "can't get rid of this folder" and gave up but it still bugs me. Now I have another one.
    Thanks

    ATR,
I should have labeled this post "Could Not Find This item" or Item Not Found
Problem solved. I downloaded 7-zip version 9.22 beta from sourceforge (for whatever reason- just seemed good) There are other places to download from. Choose your favorite.
Here is a screenshot of my problem folder so that if others run into this problem 7zip may work for them.
I had a tussle with 7zip and it did not work to begin with, but the problems turned out to be really simple. My nephew is a computer wiz and came over to use the DOS procedure that people are using on the internet to delete the folder. At first he couldn't get it to work. Then we discovered there were 3 folders, one inside the stop motion capture, the stop motion capture, and the outer project folder. The folders had to be deleted from the innermost first, one at a time, to the outer folder. Hallelujah. This folder is gone after 2 years of staring at me.
If you have this message like I did the first thing to do is go into the main folder to the innermost items and delete as many as will delete normally thru windows. Keep deleting the inner folders til you get to the first one that won't delete. Then see how many folders inside the main folder remain.
So let's try 7zip again. I am a newbie so I thought others might like how my nephew and I did it.
In the main window there will be a short list on the left starting with computer and accessable drives. Double click on computer (or whichever location your trouble folder is in). A bigger list of stuff will show up. Mine was in the desktop so I double click on that. I look at that list fo find my trouble folder. Double click on that. Each time you double click will go to the next internal folder. Then when you get to the innermost folder rename it ( we just used the word del). Up higher on the screen is the red delete X click on that. the folder will be gone. To get to the next folder use the green "up one level" arrow just to the left of the url bar. The next folder will show up, rename and press X to delete. When you have reached the outer folder which you thought was your problem folder it will dissapear from your desktop ( or wherever it was located). In my case I had to delete 3 folders. My other problem folder was in my external drive so I just went through the same procedure after double clicking on the drive letter which was in the list in the starting window. Exit 7-zip when done.
You don't have to close 7-zip to delete the folders as I listed in my previous posts. These were just info I got from a couple of websites. Not complete by any means. They presume you know what you are doing with computers.
The only reason I started this discussion was because both of these folders were made with PrE7 and PrE9. I have never had this problem with anything else. Must be some kind of filing error between PrE and windows.
Hope this helps. The DOS procedure was lengthy and was way above my head but 7-zip only took a few minutes.
