Locating printer selections

Hi
Have a Epson XP 950. No problems with printing photos and documents both via the IPad and by flash cards.
What I can't find is, and need help with please
Do I have control via the IPad to the settings within the printer? Ie I can't seem to find the info about choosing sizes of paper, type of paper, ink levels etc. is this available to me with the IPad??? I can't seem to be able to see it on any of the screens on the printer either...but maybe I am missing something.
Again any help appreciated.

mmmm thought so. Will go looking for app. Probably not huge issue as ink levels if low should show when printing from flash card (says she with her fingers crossed).
So have stopped looking via Ipad .. thanks for the confirmation.

I want to print just a selected area of a website. I can do this on Windows by highlighting the area and clicking on "Selection" in the print prefiew screen. How would I do this with Safari. I am using the latest version of Mountain lion on my iMac.

This worked for me immediately after I followed all the steps.. OSX Lion 10.7.5, updgraded from Snow Leapard
You can get the select printing to work by selecting the text you want to print, then use the 2-finger secondary click gesture to bring up the secondary window, then chose "Print Selection"

Follow these directions to get your select printing to work. These same instructions can be found on the webpage as the very 1st comment you come up to on the page.
1. CLOSE all open apps/programs. Very important!
2. Install the software
3. locate Print Selection.service inside Macintosh HD/Library/Services/Print Selection.service
NOTE: If blocked from seeing the contents of this Services folder due to system settings. Click the folder to select it, Cmd+i to get info, then go to the bottom of the window and click the lock icon and enter the administrator user name and password. Then change the user privileges to Read/Write and access the file.
3. Copy the application to Macintosh HD/System/Library/Services (optionally, copy it to your user's Services folder as well: /Users/[username]/Library/Services)
4. Log Out and Log back In
5. You may also need to Open Services Preferences (Safari-Services-Services Preferences), and in the Keyboard Shortcuts section, enable Print Selection.
There you go. Like I said this worked for me immediately after I followed all the steps.

Preview Scan Location and Print v Print Selected

1. where do I set which folder Preview puts my scans?
2. Print v Print Selected: Is there a way to get Preview to print all the pages when I go Print and then I end up pulling down to "pdf" to print a pdf?! For the umpteenth time I have scanned a 50 page document, gone to print a pdf of this scan, and accidentally hit "Print" (go figure) instead of selecting all the pages (!?) and hitting Print - and then of course pulling down the pdf and going to Save As pdf.
Print defaults to print only the selected page ?! and Print Selected Pages works if you select all the Pages? I have to scan the whole darn document again...What am I missing?

The default Pages setting in the Preview print dialog is set to all pages. You have to manually change this setting to selected pages/range.
If yours is set to the selected pages setting then check that you are not using a Preset. If no Preset is being used then close Preview and try trashing the file "com.apple.Preview.plist" in your users Library > Preferences folder. Then re-open Preview and select to print a document to check the setting.

I made a test which gave a funny result.
Given a Numbers document with a chart.
I selected the chart, the title and the legends
then I grouped these objects.
Select all
copy
run the script
I pasted in the sheet to be able to take a screenshot.
It's a bit inconsistent.
Text values are passed when they are in cells
They are passed when they are used as value labels in the chart
but they aren't passed when they are chart's title or legend's components.
Funny behavior, the graphic symbols are moved in the process to the location where they would be if the text components were nil strings.
No comment upon a table's title which can't be selected with the table itself.

Can no longer print selected iPhoto photo with HP printer

iPhoto 09. Cannot print selected iPhoto photo with HP printer. I select the photo from iPhoto Library, go to File>print. The screen for Print comes up with another one on top of it that is blank but with text "Print...Processing 1..OK". Clicking OK prints from that screen "Print, Processing page 1" (on correct 3x6 photo paper in black!).
I have run Apple Software Update. Run Permissions with problems (one: "Permissions differ on Library/Printers/h...". Have reinstalled iPhoto which has left one icon on Dock and 3 on desktop: iPhoto 07-27-19.app; iPhoto.app; iPhoto Library that I don't know what to do with with them, so just use the one on the dock which opens iPhoto Library.
Believe I read that after reinstalling iPhoto, a plug-in (possibly third party plug-in for HP?) must be installed. I have updated my HP printer to latest driver.
Would you advise how I can print photos in my iPhoto Library again, and also get those iPhoto icons off my desktop which only confuse me. Thank you for your prompt attention.

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

Firefox 17 on Windows 7 prints blank pages after printing selection

I need to be able to highlight text on a webpage and print only that text using the print selection inside the file/print tab. However, instead, I am getting only that highlighted text AND then blank pages (with headers and footers) keep printing (how many pages that print depends on the actual size of the webpage).
I have Windows 7, 32bit and Firefox 17. I updated Firefox this morning and restarted but the problem still exists. I did not have this problem when I had Windows XP.
The print selection works properly in IE9.

Firefox's Print Selection feature has always left much to be desired...
What I get is blank pages ''before'' the selection but not after. You get blank pages for the entire document? That's especially unhelpful.

Before learning about the above, I wrote a small script to isolate the selection for printing. I wouldn't use it if you are filling in a form, making a purchase, etc., since the script duplicates part of the page and this may break the form. Good god almighty.

CS6 Photoshop fails to print selected area

PS fails to Print Selected Area, instead it prints an area smaller than the one selected, and it does not center the image on the paper. How can I fix this? The details: image size is 20x24 in. and my selected area is 10x12 in. I am printing to a 13x19 sheet of paper. The image size as printed is 6-5/16 x 9-1/8 in. instead of 10x12, and my selected area is cropped -- unless I check Scale to Fit Print Media but even then the printed image is still the wrong 6-5/16 size. Finally, the visualization is accurate: what is shown in Print dialog is what printed and instead of centering it as requested, the image is printed in the location as displayed. See attached screen shots.

Ask in the PS forum, but as far as I can tell this is a specific Mac-only genuine bug. That being so, duplicate the image and do a "hard" crop for printing.

Cannot add new printer, selection grayed out

I have been using a brother MFC-9420CN. I have been sharing this printer with a windows computer over a wireless network. It has worked flawlessly since I hooked it up. After the last 10.4.6 update for the OS the printer no longer works. I first noticed it when I selected print from a menu. The top selection said the printer name but there was a grayed question mark next to it. I opened the printer utility. The printer was there but would not work. So I removed it from the list and went to add it once again. When I clicked on add a new menu popped up. The menu searched for new drivers and then stopped. On the bottom of the menu is three selections. One for name, one for location and one for print using. They are all grayed out. Because there is no selection in the above menu for me to choose. I tried deleting all the brother print drivers in /library/printer/brother folder. Then I reinstalled. Same problem. I cannot selet a printer now. I also tried hooking it up diretly and nothing happened. I then tried the IP printer selection. At the bottom there is a print using selection. It shows the brother cups driver but when selected and then I choose to add it a message comes up that says "An error occured while trying to add the selected printer error code 50" The printer still works over the wirless connection on the windows computer. Thanks for any help...

I found a work around for this matter. Most of the time, I use spotlight to remove anything on the hard drive that has anything to do with "Brother Printers" Then I reload the CD that came with the printer and it works ok. Every now and again if I cancel the print job on the printer the computer will do this hiccup and say there is no printer. This is my work around.

Does anyone know how to print selected cells in a Numbers spreadsheet, rather than printing the entire sheet?
Also, how to save the selected cells as a pdf file without saving the irrelevant cells?

Cell A1 is a Pop-Up Menu containing names of the various "Departments"
Other cells contain formulas to find a match for whatever is chosen in A1 from the Very Big Data Table.

Invoice Print Selected Invoices program is failing when language is not US

Hi All,
I am trying to run "Invoice Print Selected Invoices" for multiple languages.
When language in customer setup under "Account Site Information" is 'US' then EN-US: (Invoice Print Selected Invoices) is completing successfully.
But when I am changing the language from US to some other language let’s say "F”, then "FR-FR: (Invoice Print Selected Invoices)" getting submitted and it is completing in error.

Hi ,
The cause of the issue is the standard rdf is set to run for single operating unit. But R12 is a moac setup enable application. Hence The operating unit mode is changed to Single from null in system administration concurrent program setting for the XML report concurrent program.
This fixed the issue.

Printer selection dialog on client

I have to fire a print out from a jsp page.
I am using java.awt.PrinterJob, Printable and Book classes for the print.
When I call the PrinterJob.printDialog(), the Printer Proerties selection box
is popped on the server.
Is there any way I can pop up the printer selection dialog box on the client machine?

You won't be able to use a java class to open anything on your client.
Your java program runs on a server and builds HTML for the client browser. You can either do as Zetor suggested and put print functionality in an applet, or include javascript in the HTML page you build that will do your printing.
