Locating the physical location of a Rogue AP

I have a situation where there appears to either be a rogue AP in one of our buildings or it is an AP that was missed when we were coverting them over to lightweight mode because it has the same SSID that we are using and is Cisco but my AP's are not finding it friendly.
I would like to try and find this AP, while WCS has given me a good idea on the location, I am looking for software for my laptop that could help me narrow it down even more.
Is there some software that will show all of the access points that my laptop sees as well as their mac address and strenght? I think a wireless site survey tool might work. But, I dont think I can use Cisco's since I will be using a lenovo laptop with its built in wireless card. Does anyone have some recommendations on some software for this task?
Thanks

AFIK you can do this in three ways basically.
1) buy a directional antenna and start sweeping
2) make a directional antenna and start sweeping.
3) if you have severals base stations in the surroundings you can get the general idea of what area to look in by checking the signal streangth of the rouge AP in the different APs. just map it out in a building/surrounding area type of map.
I would look at a directional antenna and cover the ground quickly to find the rouge ap. netstumbler helps out alot.
is the keys and encryptions correct on the rouge AP ? then its probably one you have missed or a serious try to break in to your company.
then just look in your installment plans and check wich one is in that location that you do not have control over.
just some thoughts.
Good luck.

  • How do I locate the physical location of a sample/loop?

I know the usual locations for Apple Jam Packs. I have a few samples that I installed, that aren't part of the Jam Packs. One in particular has been giving me problems when loading a project that contains that sound. It seem to take forever when it gets to that particular sound. Sometimes it comes back with an error (after a long time) saying it could not find it. There is an option to "try again", and then it finds it. I'm trying to figure out where on the hard drive, that sound is stored.  Don't understand what is going on...  Here are some screen shots showing the the sound in question.
I tried right clicking on it to see if there was some sort of "reveal in Finder", but I didn't see anything.  Hope someone can help.
    Thanks

I just wanted to add a screen shot of the dialog showing the sound in question.

  • Hyperlink - The physical location in the page

When I export the A PDF file, how do I know the physical location of the hyperlink in the output page (coordinates)
I need to export from Indesign
    - Hyperlink physical location (# page & XY coordinates)
    TIA

I guess I'm misunderstanding the question, then.
I don't quite understand what you're trying to accomplish with this task. How does Excel factor into this? What value is it to have a report of x and y coordinates for an Acrobat page? This sounds like something you'd need for html coding, not a print document. If so, the pages should be exported as html pages, not Acrobat pdf files, from your original. I only ask because I have a feeling you might be creating way more work or expense for yourself than you need to be. The more information you can provide, the better advice you'll probably get.
If you need a report of x and y coordinates, I'm thinking Acrobat is the wrong application. It's not really a web design app. I don't have Dreamweaver here at my office, but I seem to remember that all that information is available if you open your pages in Dreamweaver, and there may be a way of extracting a report with just what you need. You might try asking your question on the Dreamweaver forum, if that's the route that makes more sense for what you're trying to do.

How can I locate the last location of my iPhone 5s because it is dead and cant be located when its offline?

Apple does not offer a user-searchable log of where the phone has been. Not saying they don't keep one, but I think you'd need a search warrant or work for the NSA or FBI to get access to such data.

  • Find the Physical Location of an attachment

    Hi,
One of the user's has attached a 'Test Document' in FB03/FB02 transaction. When I try to view the document (word document), it shows up. I need to know where this particular document is PHYSICALLY stored in SAP.
I tried to debug and got some indirect references, but I could not find a place where exactly this document is stored in SAP/UNIX. Even finding out a UNIX path (if it is being stored in UNIX and called by reference) would be helpful.

    Srinivas,
It was a great surprise to see you in the forum.
I don't know the logical/physical location. I am trying to figure out if any of the function modules or classes gives me the reference or link to any logical or physical location.
I have debugged the SAP code, but could not find any place where the location is stored. I was ending up going to tables storing the document ID or folder ID (ex: SOFD).
Does anyone of you know if there is a way to find the logical or physical location based on the document ID or folder ID.
Ville, I don't think going to AL11 will help me in anyway without my knowing either the logical or physical location. Still, I will give it a shot and see if it is helpful.

  • How to locate the (physical) z index of encoder

    Hello,
I am trying to locate the Z-Index of a rotary encoder. I need the counter to reset to 0 everytime the encoder's shaft reaches that same point.
My problem is that when I run the VI, the angular position starts at 0 no matter where the shaft is located, and this point is used to reset the counter to 0 once a 360 degree revolution occurs. Hence, everytime I run the VI, the current shaft position is used as the Z-Index.
Is it possible to locate the actual physical Z-Index of the encoder which is at a specific location of the shaft, so that everytime the shaft reaches that point the counter is reset to 0 and this specific point becomes the Z-Index everytime I run the VI (and not be at the location of the shaft at the instant the VI is run)?
Basically, I am trying to accomplish the homing technique to be at a fixed location of the encoder's shaft and not at arbitrary locations which are at the location of the shaft when the VI is run, which may be different everytime I run the VI.
    Thank you,
    r15
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

One way out might indeed be to use absolute encoders, but it isn't yet clear to me that it's the only way or even the best way.  So let's make sure we first cover the basics very clearly.
If your encoder has a z-index and your task is configured to use it properly, the z-index pulse will cause a reset at a specific shaft angle.  The very first such reset will usually occur in less than 360 degrees of motion, depending how far away you started from.  The remaining resets will always be at the same physical angle, thus every 360 degrees thereafter.
If you want to perform z-index reset with an encoder task, it's important that the z-index *signal* is coming from the quad encoder.  The task config depends on a z-index signal that is sync'ed to the A & B quad signals and requires you to define which 1 of the 4 possible A quad B states should be used for the reset.  This helps NI support both full-cycle and quarter-cycle gated index pulses.  (Full-cycle means the index pulse lasts one full cycle of the A channel, quarter-cycle means that it lasts for one A quad B state, i.e. 1/4 of a full cycle.)
A z-index signal that isn't sync'ed to the encoder may cause multiple resets per pulse or none at all depending on how & whether the pulse overlaps the A & B quad state changes.
Having said all that, the symptoms you describe sound more software-ish.  If you aren't explicitly doing a modulus function, I would start to wonder whether something about the task config is doing something similar behind the scenes.  I wasn't aware that DAQmx would or could do that, but I haven't done much encoder work since before X-series existed and that was many DAQmx versions ago.  Perhaps it now supports modes for non-cumulative angular position?

  • What is the effect of changing the physical location of data files

    Hello,
    Here is the situation:
We have 2 physical hard disks (that's right - 2 separate disks). Their logical drives are respectively C: and D:.
We have an Oracle 9i2 database installed on the first disk C:. We have one database with datafiles on D:.
We want to replace the second disk (with the data files) with brand new one. So here is what we did:
    1) We mount the disk and we named it drive F:
    2) We stopped all Oracle services
    3) We copied all data files from D: to F:
    4) We remove the disk with letter D:
    5) We renamed the disk F: to D:
So, now the new drive D: has identical structure as the old one.
Before starting the Oracle instance, I would like to ask: Is everything going to be OK when I start the service? Do we need to do something else?
As far as I know Oracle has internal addresses (ROWID) for the data so I think that changing the phisycal addresses of the files won't be a problem. Am I correct?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Beroetz

I think your database can not be opend in this case.
If you follow this method, you can move a datafile to a new address.
    1.alter tablespace tablespacename offline normal.
2.move datafile to new folder as you did
3.alter tabespace tablespacename rename datafile 'old datafile including fullpath' to 'new datafaile including fullpath'
    4.alter tablespace tablespacename onlin

  • SQL Server 2012 PDW - Controling the physical location of a data partition

In PDW for distributed tables, is it possible to know/control which partition will reside in which storage node? Assuming I have 4 compute nodes, and I have data with partitions A, B, C and D (all tables will have only 4 partitions), can I design in a manner
that partition A definitely goes to Compute node 1, partition B to Compute node 2, C to 3 and D to 4?
Please share your thoughts with me.

The idea of a MPP-based DW appliance is to hide the complexity from the user. Crucial is the choice of the column for the hash key. Everything else should be taken care by the query engine/optimizer. Can you please provide a little bit more context why
you want to 'go into the business' of managing single partitions etc.? Thanks

  • I was idiotic enough not to put a passcode on my iPod and to not have gotten the "Find My iPod" app. Is there anyway you guys can help me locate the exact location to it?

HI, my name is Daisy Belleza and my iPod Touch (second generation) was stolen two to three weeks ago. I am hopeless without and have endlessly searched the Internet for ways to find and get it back. I'm hoping that the Apple Store will be able to somehow locate my stolen iPod...

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone
    - You can also have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.

  • Marketing Encyclopedia System : Where are the physical files located?

    Hello All,
I've a Published Content (Oracle Marketing > Encyclopedia > Publish). A PDF File was attached under a particualr category/content type. The same shows up in 'My Published Items' in My Channels. The file opens fine when clicked on the link under the Category to which I attached this item.
Can anyone help me find where is this file (the PDF that I attached into the item) stored in the system? Does it reside as a BLOB in a database table or does the file reside somewhere on the UNIX Box? Any pointers on getting to the physical location of the files attached would be greately appreciated.
    TIA.

    Hi,
Portal Application components do not have any physical files. It is available as a package in the database. You can see it in the manage component screen. Clicking on the package body link will show you the whole package. You can copy this into a .SQL file and compile it later whenever you want, in the schema where the application is built.
    Hope that helps.
    Thanks,
    Sharmila

  • Physical location where the soa jar(ex sca_SomePrj_rev1.0.jar) is uploaded

    Hi
I had configured SOA environment in my system.
I just want to know what is the physical location where the project soa jar is uploaded to the weblogic.
I could find the jar in deploy location of the workspace, but that jar is uploaded somewhere during deployment in the weblogic domain or somewhere. Where is it?
I searched my entire domain, but could not find it out.
Is it jar'ed into some other jar, or by any chance, uploaded to the soa related tables in db(as a blob)?
    Regards
    RaviKiran.

    Hi Kalyan,
    Thanks for the reply.
What I mean is, say a composite has a bpel component, a mediator and some xsd/xsl files.
Now, all these are made to a jar, and deployed to the soa server.
What I want to know is, after deployment, where can i find that xsd/xsl/.bpel/.mplan file that I used, in the server?
Like in a webapp, they are uploaded to a particular file directory. In case of SOA, where are the files loaded? Is the jar loaded as it is and exploded at some location in the server, or, are the individual files uploaded to particular places in the server directory structure?
Because, I've searched for these files in the server physical location, and i couldn't find any(except one wsdl per composite ). So what i thought is, they were uploaded to the db schema soa_infra as blobs.
