Location in Maps not working

Updated to new software the day after the announcement and most everything works fine. I like the new apps and the customizable home screen.
Maps works fine except that it can't seem to find my location. Pressing the button results in a message, "Your location could not be determined." I have tried when connecting to either my home network or the network at work.
I imagine that there is some variability in this function throughout the states, depending on how well the area is mapped. So, I'm guessing that's why it can't seem to find itself. I live in a small city in North Carolina, but maybe it's not mapped.
If that's the explanation, then it *****, but what can you do. However, I don't want to miss something that I can fix or address. I haven't seen widespread reports of this on this forum, but I would appreciate any feedback/suggestions, particularly the experiences of others. I obviously need to try this when connected to other networks in town, but I haven't had a chance yet.

    It doesn't matter who I send it to or what email account I send it from, I always get this message, it's always identical as well no matter which ISP is supposedly bouncing it. It happens on my original iPhone, my 3G one and on my friends original iPhone. Anyone else had this problem?

    You can't delete the update and your problem probably is not in the Update.
    Check to see if Location Services is turned ON. (Settings > Privacy > Location Services)
    What model iPad Mini do you have? WiFi or WiFi + Cellular
    Have you recently changed WiFi routers?

  • IPhone 6 location services/gps not working

    Anyone else have an issue with iPhone 6 location services/gps not working? I have had it happen to me twice where it stopped working for good 7 or 8 hours and then all of sudden it starts working again. For example, directions don't work, every time I open Apple Maps it will say "Cannot determine location", then when I press the location icon on the bottom left, it will try to search again and have an approximate location but not exact, where as the iPad that I have right next to it is able to pin point the exact location. Sometimes the location circle is pulsing blue sometimes its gray. If I am driving and have tracking on it won't track, and so on.  I have tried to setup the phone as new without restoring the backup, when it stopped working with no luck, it still didn't work. I went and restore it back from backup and few hours later it started to work again. This has happened twice now since I got the phone last Friday.

    Check your "Privacy" settings on your iPhone see what apps are using your location.

    The flashing WLAN light means activity (data getting transferred). Try disconnecting all your devices and check whether the light is still flashing or disconnect the router from internet and do the check.
    Do you have your SSID as linksys or the default one? If your neighbor has the same SSID, then traffic could result from your neighbor's one. Try changing your SSID and password. Make your security WPA/WPA2.

    Hi, my location switching does not work.  I have reinstalled my Access Connection several time but still does not work. I have several profiles and I need to switch manually depending on my location profile. My Access Connetion however seem to know the right profile (dot  next to the profile indicate it picked up the right wireless signal) but never connect to the profile
    Is there any Vista feature that is controlling the access as well? Do I need to disable? I remember the older version of Access Connection will ask to disaable some windows services when using Access connection.
    My Config is
    - R61
    - Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG. File Version 11.1.1.16
    - OS Vista 32 Business - with up to date patches
    - Access Connection 4.42 for Vista Build 7RCN38WW

    The names for the zones don't matter. You could use the 'extranet' zone for another intranet name if you wanted, the names are just to make it a bit more friendly for beginners.
    What you describe sounds routine, you create a web application with a name, then use an AAM to allow users to access it with a more friendly name. Frequently you end up creating
    http://intranet.domain.com and
    http://intranet as an AAM, or vice versa.
    You can use .com for an intranet site, you would need to add the site as an A Host record in your DNS server so that traffic is sent to your internal server rather than out into the wider world.

    Hi Rashmi,
    The problem would either be in cache update or your mapping. Please provide the sceenshot of mapping (after clicking the value mapping function).
    you can also choose the option to throw error in value mapping function, so it will throw error when value not found.

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
    Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Maps.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
    Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
    If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

    Your Wi-Fi only iPad do not have GPS.
    It gets it position from Apple's router data base. Your location may not be in the data base.

    WiFi iPads determine location through a database of router locations. Your new one is not in the database, give it some time and it will be added.

    Turn off your wifi and your location service, but keep your cellular on, You will be able to find your coordinates on the map but not so accurate, You will miss even the rotate on the X axis, The only key player here is your LOCATION SERVICE under GENERAL, the location service works in 2D way, It locates your position according to X & Y axis, For sure this is with the help of the satellite, I have find my iPhone app and it does not interfere with the map app or any navigation app i have, All these app actually uses the LOCATION SERVICE if it's enabled. You can go ahead and turn off your cellular and your wifi but keep your location service on, you will find that on the map your phone will rotate when ever you rotate your phone in a 360 degrees circle, but you will miss the exact names and coordinates of your position, Cellular data gives you that, Names and addresses of where you are and location services gives or tells you where on earth you are.

    Your location is determined from a location database which contains the MAC addresses of routers and their physical location. A MAC address is a unique number which is built-in to all network devices when manufactured. The database is built and updated by actually driving around and mapping router locations.
    Since you just moved the location of your router has not been updated in the database and when you use Maps you will see your old location.
    If you go outside your house you can be correctly located because your iPod sees other routers which are in the location database. Note that you do not need to be connected to a router for your iPod to see it and obtain its MAC address.
