Location info lost between iPhone and iPhoto

On my iPhone, i go to photos -> places, and i get a map showing where my photos were taken. I import them into iPhoto, and go to "places", and I get a blank map and a message telling me how to add the location, or to "import photos with GPS information.
If I click on the "i" for information on any photo then it is blank.
1. Does iPhone 4 add GPS info to photos?
2. should this GPS info be imported into iPhoto?
3. If the answer to the previous 2 questions is "yes", any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
Cheers
Bert

Try reinstalling iTunes (no need to uninstall, just download and install the current version). Also, check System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items tab to be sure the iTunes Helper app is there. Finally, you might need to remove and reinstall AMDS:

  • No connection between iPhone and iPhoto

    Hello,
this is my problem: connecting my iPhone to my Mac it doesen't react in the usual way anymore – nether iTunes nor iPhoto were launched automatically (which works without any problems a few days ago).
I've got no problem with the not-starting iTunes, because after starting it manually the iPhone is detected as it should. But in iPhoto my iPhone is not detected and no import message is shown even if I've taken new photos with the phone.
I've tried a lot of things: I've repaired my HD (with "First Aid") and deleted some preferences on my Mac. Also I've reset the preferences of my iPhone.
Further I tried to copy the iPhone's folder "DCIM" manually to my HD using the program "Phone View" – but this was canceled with an error message and the already copied files were deleted from my HD immediately.
Also the the system program "Image capture" seems not to be the reason – there's iPhoto selected to handle with digital cameras.
As I connected my iPhone to another Mac with iPhoto running, my iPhone was interestingly detected. But shows the message "No images to import" ...
Now I don't know what I should try more ... please help!
I would reset my iPhone COMPLETELY but I don't want to loose ANY of the token pictures on it. So what can I do? Is there any way to "rescue" them, e. g. by using the backup-file (how does it work)?
This may be important: I've updated the iPhone OS to version 3.1 and installed the app "PhotoGenius" (which I have deleted already).
Here are some information about my hard- and software:
    - iPhone 3G S
    - PowerMac G5 1,8 GHz Dual
    - Mac OS X 10.5.8
    - iTunes 9.1
    - iPhoto '06 (which works before)
    Please help!!
    Thank you!
    Michael

  • Syncing Photos between iPhone and iPhoto

    Two part question:
    1) Is it required to launch iPhoto and import photos into the app or are they/can they be transferred just by syncing the phone in iTunes?
    2) When I do sync with iPhoto, I often get duplicate photos which I previously imported into iPhoto but they get transferred back to my phone, so I now have the same photo multiple times. This is a annoying as you can imagine. How do I prevent this?
    Thanks in advance.

    1) Camera roll pics ( taken with iphone ) are NOT part of the itunes sync process at all. You import them as you would from any digital camera - iphoto for example.
    2) If you do not delete the pics from iphone once you have imported them, then you may end up importing them twice.
You should regularly import pics from iphone, then you can organize them on your computer and sync whatever you like to iphone.
There is no reason to keep anything in the Camera Roll once you have imported them into your computer. As with everything else on your computer, you should always maintain a backup copy on an external drive, flash drive, cds, dvds, etc,

Unfortuantely, you can only track the phone if you had set up iCloud and enabled Find My iPhone on it before it was lost or stolen.  I don't believe there is anything that Apple can do to locate your phone either.

  • Lost my iphone and located on map it using the fing phone app. The second I located it the phone went offline. Whoever has it knows how to disable the find feature. What are my alternatives? Can at

Lost my iphone and located it on the map, using the find a phone app. The second I had the location the phone went offline. Apparently, whoever has it knows how to disable the find a phone feature. Do I have any alternatives? Can AT&T or the police track the phone?

ATT won't unless they are asked to do so by the police and unless a major crime is involved, the police won't request this just for a stolen phone.
If the iPhone is running iOS 6, sounds like you didn't have the passcode lock feature enabled. Nothing prevents someone from powering the iPhone off and the same for removing the SIM card.

  • I lost my iphone and I use the locate iphone function to wipe to protect my information, but I cannot get the location to restore my iphone, can I request a permanent lock to prevent the thief from using it?

I lost my iphone and I use the locate iphone function to wipe to protect my information, but I cannot get the location to restore my iphone, can I request a permanent lock to prevent the thief from using it?, I call your call centre, your staff said they can do nothing, I am great disappointed as your advertisment said that we can protect our phone from lost, however, I think my phone has now been resale and reuse by others, but Apple cannot do anything with your so call "Find my iphone" function, I have brought 4 iphone and iPad for my family use, I will never use your product again and recommend to my company or friends anymore!
    Philip Sin

You are not addressing Apple here at all.
    Apple can do nothing.  Sorry.
Like any other make of any other phone, they cannot permanently disable it.
The thief is responsible.  Not Apple.  You seem to be directing your anger at the wrong people.
No phone manufacturer will do this.
"I am great disappointed as your advertisment said that we can protect our phone from lost, "
It mentions "loss"  NOT theft.  you cannot find a mention of theft protection.  Find my iphone is NOT theft protection and has never been advertised as such.

  • HT204053 i lost my iphone and reset it all through find my iphone and after locating it and getting it back i can not turn the phone back on how can i fix this

i lost my iphone and reset it all through find my iphone and after locating it and getting it back i can not turn the phone back on how can i fix this

Unless you had enabled Find My iPhone on it before it was lost then there isn't any way to locate it (it can only be turned on directly on the phone, it can't be done remotely). If you did enable it then you could try locating it either via http://icloud.com on a computer or Find My iPhone on another device - but that will only work if it's connected to a network and the device hasn't already been wiped and/or Find My iPhone disabled on it.
If you think that it was stolen then you should report it to the police. You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc.

  • Lost photos! aaaggh! (iPhoto 08). I disconnected my HDD temporarily when relocating.I synced my iphone and iPhoto it seems has rebuilt the library from the old copy

I have two ext HDD intended to ensure I don't lose my photos( iPhoto 08). I disconnected my HDD temporarily when relocating.
I then synced my iphone and iPhoto it seems has rebuilt the library from the old copy of the library (2011. I have Time Machine but I can't restore the last 3y photos as I guess Time machine does not back up the other HDD.
Any chance of finding my treasured photos somebody?

Sounds like you have another iPhoto library someplace - under no conditions would iPhoto revert a library to an older one - you just need to find and open the correct one
Depress and hold the option key, launch iPhoto and use the resulting select library to look st the libraries you have

  • Curious... Syncing Issues Between iPhone and iTunes?

Just curious... the past several months I have noted various concerns around "syncing" between iPhone and iTunes... yet don't recall any mention of whether it occurs between MAC OS or WIN hardware (desktops and or laptops). Furthermore, I am interested if anyone can comment whether these sync issues occurs mostly on TIGER or LEOPARD OS when accessing iTUNES. (Guess I should pay more attention to the noted OS field.
I ask because I am considering an upgrade to LEOPARD by end of month and don't want to jeopardize my syncing to my iPhone if it is a LEOPARD related issue. Thank you

I'm running Leopard and I've never experienced any sync issues.
These discussions include mostly problems, which is what these discussions are for - a user to user support forum for technical support issues and questions.
Which particular issue are you referring to?
Before installing a major OS X upgrade such as Leopard over a previous OS X version, it is a good idea to create or update your existing backup of important data stored on your computer's hard drive - including your iTunes library, photos, contact info, calendar events, documents, etc. I've never experienced any problems installing a major OS X upgrade over a previous OS X version, but I always update my computer's backup immediately beforehand to be on the safe side.

  • Lost my iPhone and why doesn't find my iPhone work

Lost my iPhone and why doesn't find my iPhone work

A friendly reminder: In order to use Find My IPhone Successfully, you need to 1. Turn on Location Services, 2. Lock Location Services (Using Restrictions in Settings, General, Restrictions) so that if some one else finds your IPhone, they can NOT turn off Find My IPhone And/Or Location Services itself! 3. Add your Mobile Me and/Or ICloud Account to your IPhone. 4. Lock Accounts (Again in Restrictions) from being changed or Deleted so that your Mobile Me And/OR ICloud Account can NOT be Deleted! 5. Look Up the Location of your IPhone Before Suspending Service to the IPhone, NOT after Suspending Service (simple common since applies here as well).

  • I lost my iphone and need to track it

i lost my iphone and i want to know if i can like track to wear it is

To be able to track the iPhone you need to have enabled Find My iPhone before you lost it. The phone needs to be powered on and connected to the Internet. With a computer or another device go to www.iCloud.com and log in with your Apple ID. You should be able to see the device on the map.
If the battery is dead, or the phone has been turned off, or someone found it and restored it, then you will not be able to locate it.

  • HT5616 Hey I've lost my iPhone and someone has taken off my Apple ID so my find my I phone app is not on can you help please

Hey y'all we'll I've got my iPhone stolen and I can't track it someone has taken my Apple ID off the iPhone so my find my iPhone app cannot locate the phone I don't know we're the box is for the ime code please help I don't know what I wana knw if you track my phone please

    Sorry, no.
The only way to locate/disable/erase any lost/stolen iPhone/iPod Touch is through Find My Phone or a similar app. However, this requires that Find My Phone be setup/activated, on your phone, before it was lost/stolen. You would then login at iCloud.com & try to locate it. This requires the phone be turned on & have an Internet connection. There is no other way to locate a lost/stolen iPhone. Apple can't/won't help you, nor will your carrier. Report the loss to the Police, your carrier & Insurance company. Change all of your passwords, especially your Apple ID/iCloud password NOW!
If your carrier offers Blacklisting & they Blacklist the phone, it will be unusable as a phone.
If locked with a passcode, and running iOS 7.0, then phone cannot be re-activated or the passcode removed without knowing your Apple iD/Password. It will be nothing but a useless paperweight.
If not running iOS 7.0, the phone can be forced into recovery mode & restored.
