Location issue when logging into a store site

When I log into a store site (Walmart, Lowe's, etc), using my iBook G4, the store locator thinks I am up in Maine, so I change the locator to my home town.  And the next time I log in, I am back to the Maine location.   Is there a system profile item or cookie for location?  I don't recall taking the laptop up to Maine on vacation or looking for items in stock in stores in Maine...... very odd.

Hello,
This is not anything to do with a location setup or where you use your iBook, but the IP address.
These web sites will look at your IP address and from that it determines what part of the world or state (county) you are in. You would need to change to proxy server details in preferences > network or create a fix IP address on your router.
You're best to web search on something like 'Change IP address Geographical Location'
Best of luck

  • Error 5002 When Logging Into iTunes Store

A few years back, I had a different email and a different AppleID; I still listen to the music that I purchased under that account, and I need to authorize my laptop now. When I tried to log in (I verified that the password is correct), I get this error:
"We could not complete you iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (5002)"
However, it doesn't happen when logging into my current iTunes account, or my husband's.
Anyone else have this issue? Should I just try to contact Apple Support directly to resolve?

I'm also getting this error. The only thing that is different is that I synced my iPhone to my MBP after several weeks.
I tried updating one of my free iPhone apps but I was told there was an error in downloading the information. I figured it was because I had moved and changed my address for my credit card but had not updated it on my iTunes account. When trying to go into my account through iTunes I got the Error 5002... I guess I'm not the only person to have this problem.
    Any help would be great.

  • Error 310 when logging into iTunes Store and app Store

    Hi,
I just bought AppleTV. It allows me to log into the iTunes store through my wireless connection. However, I can't connect to iTunes store through my MacBook. I keep getting 'Unknown error 310'. However, I CAN log into iTunes store through my PC which is connected by ethernet cable. Does anyone know how I can fix this with my MacBook?

This is probably due to a connection error.
I fixed this by navigating this route:
Control Centre > Network and Internet > Internet Options > Connections Tab > LAN Settings > Untick proxy server box (if ticked).
    Hope this solved your problem!

"itunes could not connect to the itunes store."
"make sure your network connection is active and try again"

  • When i log into all my sites needing a password then close browserand reopen browserand i have to log into the site(s) agianevenwhenIsay remember me Ie facebook

When i log into all my sites needing a password and username for example Facebook and Gmail then i close the browser with "remember me" selected it logs me out of Gmail and Facebook. Then i have to log back into the those sites again. This does not happen to me in Internet Explorer or Google Chrome.
Firefox seems to save the password and username but logs me out of all my sites that needs a password and username after each session. This never happen to me before an Firefox update.
The only way that i have found to work around this to keep Firefox open.
    Thanks

The "remember me" checkbox instructs the site to set a persistent cookie in Firefox. Persistent means that the cookie is marked with a future expiration date so that Firefox retains it between sessions.
There are a lot of ways to break this. For example:
    * Visit the site in a private window
    * Change Firefox's default setting of accepting persistent cookies from all servers (first party and third party)
    * Set Firefox to clear cookies at shutdown
    * Install add-ons that clear cookies
    * Use external cleaning/security/privacy software that clears Firefox cookies
If you're not sure about your cookie settings, check out the Privacy panel of the Options dialog:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Privacy
If you have "Firefox will: remember history" then cookies are accepted and retained.
If you have "Firefox will: use custom settings for history" you can check your cookie settings below that line.
If you have "Firefox will: never remember history" then you are going to be using full time private browsing and cookies are discarded between sessions.
If cookie settings are okay, and you would like advice on your extensions, it would be helpful if you could post a list of them. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using either:
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the upper left corner, click the Copy text to clipboard button, then paste into a reply.
After previewing, you will see there is some extra information below the list of extensions that you can edit out if you like.

Are you connected via wifi? If so, and it is an option, try connecting using a ethernet cable. It sometimes seems to help as it can give a more reliable connection for the 5.3gb download.
If you do manage to download it you may want to make a copy of the installer file - which gets downloaded to the Applications folder - before running it as it self-deletes on successful installation. It may save you another monster download in the future.

After changing my user id my iPad still brings up my old id when logging into the App Store. How do I fix this?

Did you change the ID in Settings>iTunes & App Store (on the iPad) also?
Note that any items purchased with your old ID are permanently tied to it and cannot be transferred to the new one.

  • Since my apple tv (gen2) update yesterday i can no longer log into itunes store on any account at all??

Updated my apple tv last nite, it did two updates and now im told it is upto date, i cannot log into itunes store, says it is unvliable, but my computer and iphones can acces it fine. any one else having this issue? also a problem ive been having since i got it is that home sharing wont work with my itunes or my iphone 4. but when i power off and on my wifi router it starts working, every time i want to use it this happens?

I assume from your first post that you will have tried restarting your router. if you were having to restart it all the time previously have you considered an interference problem.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.

  • Apple TV will not let me log into iTunes Store

Hi, Any help appreciated! I have just purchased an Apple TV and it will not connect to my iTunes Store, it gives me the message "User Name or Password Incorrect" but they are NOT, I can log into the store through the Macbook without any problems, I have tried friends accounts and get the same message, Been on the phone to support for 2 hours NO HELP!

Add me to the list. I just bought mine & can't log onto the Apple Store to rent/purchase. I can on my MBP.
I've had the same thing happen when I tried to enter my YouTube username & password. It wouldn't accept it. I thought it was a fluke w/YouTube. Apparently not so.
So, I can't buy or rent movies/TV shows. Exactly why do I want this gadget?
How about an update on the Apple site that just recognizes these problems & promise a fix?

  • Blue screen when logging into windows server 2008 r2

when logging into windows server 2008 r2, all I have is a blue screen and the mouse.
I tried looking for solutions on the internet, then I found a microsoft hotfix "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2590550" I run the hotfix in command line but it gave me nothing, no error or success messages.
I tried to reboot but I still have the same problem.
Is there any solution to this problem ??

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Did you face this issue during remote session or console session?
In addition, have you try to change or install any driver\software which cause this problem?
Have you use any debugging tools from Microsoft to find respective error cause?
You can refer following article for memory dump.
How to read the small memory dump file that is created by Windows if a crash occurs

    Hope it helps!

how do I delete.. when logging into my email.. it populates my entire email address.. how do I stop this ?????

    Hi Roam.
    Message understood.
I managed to delete me and substitute her as Administrator. Thanks.
you ask what machine I am now using, I am a Windows man, currently using XP Pro SP3 and have been for 10 years. A friend from the Education Dept gave me a phased out Mac with OS X in an endeavor to convert me.
At first I was very impressed but as time went on I found that the Mac was not as user friendly as I had thought. The terminology was foreign to me, and where Windows placed thing automatically into place, with Mac I had to physically pick up and re-locate programs.
But what really turned me off was that nearly every thing that I wanted to do I had to go to the net and try and find drivers or whatever to overcome my problems.
A point in question, I purchased an external USB dual layer DVD burner. When connected to XP, it was recognized instantly and within a few minutes I as up and going. With the Mac, it is not even recognized let alone getting it to work!
And then there are all the other little things like printing. In windows every thing from every page I can print, Ctrl + P. With the Mac, I am still trying to find out how to print a page from the Help menu.
Enough said. My daughter is interested and that is all that counts. Let her work it all out, she is smarter (an younger) than me.
    Regards

  • Get message "You have requested an encrypted page that contains some unencrypted info that can be ready by 3rd party, etc." when logging into AOL. What is this?

Message occurs when logging into AOL. Lock at bottom of page has a red line through it. I'll close out and attempt to sign-in again. Sometimes it is cleared and sometimes I get the message again.

I would not trust that on a banking site. If it were just a forum, no problem, but anything unencrypted during banking is suspicious.
