Location Manager and Time Zones Feature Request

I use my Powerbook for consulting - and travel extensively.
Location Manager handles my network setups, but, to the best of my knowledge, NOT the time zone information.
I'd like to have the option to set the time zone from my location manager, so that when I get to a customer site, and attach to the network, files, iCal, Mail, and other timestamped files are correctly in sync with the location.
I could probably write an automator script to do this, but it would be best supported directly in Location Manager.

  • Resource Management and Solaris Zones Developer Guide

Solaris Information Products ("Pubs") is creating a
developer guide for resource management and Solaris Zones.
The department is seeking input on content from application
    developers and ISVs.
We plan to discuss the different categories of applications
that can take advantage of Solaris resource management
features, and provide implementation examples that discuss
the particular RM features that can be used.
Although running in a zone poses no differences to most
applications, we will describe any possible limitations and
offer appropriate workarounds. We will also provide
information needed by the ISV, such as determining
the appropriate system calls to use in a non-global zone.
We plan to use case studies to document the zones material.
We would like to know the sorts of topics that you would
like to see covered. We want to be sure that we address
your specific development concerns with regard to these
    features.
Thank you for your comments and suggestions.

Hi there, i'm using solaris resource management in a
server with more thant 2thousand acounts.
Created profiles for users, defaul, staff, root and
services.Seeing the contents of your /etc/project file could be helpful.
But while using rctladm to enable syslog'ing, I set up
global flags of "deny" and "no-local-action" in almos
everything. The flags on the right hand side of the rctladm(1M) output are read-only:
they are telling you the characteristics of the resource control in question (what
operations the system will allow the resource control to take).
Now, many aplications don't work because they are
    denied enough process.max-stack-size and
    process.max-file-descriptor for them to work.
Applications such has prstat. If prstat(1) is failing due to the process.max-file-descriptor control value, that's
probably a bug. prstat(1) is more likely bumping into the limit to assess how many file
descriptors are available, and then carrying on--you're just seeing a log message since
prstat(1) tested the file descriptor limit, and you've enabled syslog for that control. Please
post the prstat(1) output, and we'll figure out if something's breaking.
    I don't find a way to disable the global flags. You can't. I would disable the syslog action on the process.max-stack-size control first;
there is an outstanding bug on this control, in that it will report a false triggering event--
no actual effect to the process. (If you send me some mail, I will add you as a call record
    on the bug.)
    Can anyone tell me:
    how to disable global flags?
how to disable and enable solaris resource management
all together? You could raise all of the control values, but the resource control facility (like the resource
limit facility it superseded) is always active. Let's figure out if you're hitting the bug I mentioned,
and then figure out how to proceed.

  • Sales Office Master - Country, Region and Time Zone

    Dear All,
In one of the Project, for some config-settings, I need to create Sales Offices. Here, Sales Offices is basically the Countries, to which business is happening.
    For example,
    Jordan
    Mexico
    Colombia
    etc...
Now, while maintaining Sales Office records, System prompts for Sales Office Address. Initally, i maintained Country as per the Sales Office, for example:
For Sales Office Nepal, Country Nepal
For Sales Office Mexico, Country Mexico
    etc...
Now, when i checked previously maintained entries in to System, I found that:
For Sales Office New Hampshire, Country India
For Sales Office California, Country India
    etc...
When, I inquired about the same to concern Persons, within particular Organization, they are unable to explain, as these entries are maintained by Previous Implementation-Partner.
Can anyone explain, what entry needs to be maintained as Address - Country, Region and Time Zone, for International Offices? Is there particular logic for the same?
    Best Reagrds,
    Amit

    Dear All,
    Thanks for the Support, provided.
Let me explain, my scenario, in detail.
I am maintaining Profit Center, in Sales Order, based upon Substitution Rule.
For that, I have to maintain Profit Center, based upon Sales Area and Sales Office combination.
    suppose, If my combination is:
    1. if Sales Area is 10100107 and Sales Office is Colombia, then Profit center would be X
    2. if Sales Area is 10100107 and Sales Office is Mongolia, then Profit center would be Y
Now, Important aspect is all Sales Organizations are maintained under Company Code ABC; and Company ABC is maintained under Country INDIA. Whereas, Sales Offices are both, Domestic, as well as International.
    My queries are:
    1. What effect has gone be made, if Sales Org is maintained under India and Sales Office, under some other country, in Sales Order?
    2. Also, based upon Sales Office, System must pick the Transaction Currency, in Sales Order?
    Best Regards,
    Amit

  • Difference between Time Management and Time Evaluation

    Hello
Is there any Difference between Time Management and Time Evaluation? if yes, then what is it? I guess there's no diff, time evaluation is a report..
    please advice
    Thanks

    Hi Charlene,
Time management can be divided into 3 steps
    1.Time Recording
    2.Time Evaluation
    3. Planning
    Time Evaluation :
The recorded time data is grouped and converted to wage types which can be used by payroll for compensation.SAP provides a time evaluation program RPTIME00 for this purpose.
Standard schemas TM00 and TM04 are used for evaluation of time data got from positive and negative time recording approaches.
time evaluation program RPTIME00 also calculates accrual and entitlement for employees.

I haven't done a lot of work with time zones, but I have some ideas that just
may work. If it is important for this object to pass in and out of time-zones
untouched by the destination try passing it by reference. The idea is that the
actual object will remain in one time zone. You may need to "anchor it down"
somehow where it resides (Make it private, READ_ONLY or ??).
Another thing to try is: If it is passed via a method set the mechanism as
"input". I believe this will stop the destination from changing it. (i.e. It
will receive it as input only).
    Just some ideas. Good luck.

Since loading mavericks my calendar posts events one hour late.  That is, if mtg invite is for 9am it posts at 10am.  my pc clock and time zone are correct.

    Hey Armando Stettner,
Thanks for the question, and what a great question it is!
With time zone support on, you can edit an individual event and change the time zone for that event. This list will include options for your default time zones, UTC, and "floating" - the latter of which is what you are looking for. Floating changes the event to occur at the specified time, local time.
For information on changing an event's time zone, see the following resource:
Calendar: Change an event’s time zone

I look forward to hearing how this works for you.
    Cheers!

  • *** Priority list for TOP-2 Bugs - and TOP-3 feature requests ***

I'm more a business type of user - and I want to share my main problems/bug with this community in the hope that the WebOS developers read this...These bugs are so obvious and I am really wondering why these haven't been fixed immediately... BUGS: 1. Email: Delete of IMAP emails doesn't work: Each time I wipe out an email in an IMAP folder, it immediately comes back with the next email sync (which is pre-set "when new email arrives" - which happens in the day time every couple of minutes. PLEASE handle this like all the general behaviour: when wiping out then ask delete or cancel. And after deleting, move to the deleted folder. I am using the German no. 1 IMAP email service GMX (it's free), but I'm sure this happens with other email services as well. 2. PDF reader: delete of PDF files doesn't work: It was working in Version 1.3.1 - but since then it's not working anymore. I use the PDF reader, so I want to delete files from the file list by wiping out! FEATURE REQUESTS: 1. Sync of Memo with Exchange: we are waiting! Calendar, addresses and tasks are working - only missing part is memos! Do it! 2. handling address categories: I work for years with categories (no other way with over 1000 addresses) - so I need to handle categories. Just put this (Exchange-synced) field into the address and introduce a view filter in the menu. Then I can easily find addresses, like 'NYC restaurants' 3. Full text search in addresses and calendar entries: I have to search in the memo/notice field of calendar entries and addresses. This search may take longer of course, but no problem. Hi WebOS developers: feed-back welcome!!!!

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
I created a GMX account myself, to see if the issue could be with your provider specifically. Used automatic setup for the email address, and the Pre automatically recognized as IMAP. I then sent several test messages to the new gmx account from my gmail account, and after each one arrived I deleted it by swiping off from the inbox. When the new email arrived, the old previously deleted email was not in the inbox, but still in the deleted items folder where it should be.
However on the web portal for the GMX account, I saw the "original" unread email in the trash, along with a "copy" in the inbox. This seems to be a design setting for the provider, but it did not mean I kept getting deleted emails back in my inbox. Have you checked the account settings on your Pre to make sure the account is set as IMAP and not POP? If the email was set as POP by accident, that could explain why your email folders are not synchronizing.
For the PDF viewer, you are correct that you cannot delete PDF files from the view list, and unfortunately I don't have access to a 1.3.1 device to see if it was possible then. At this time, managing PDF files is best done by connecting your Pre via USB to a computer and manually deleting files there.
To suggest the ability to delete PDFs on device and other changes, we have a feedback portal at www.palm.com/feedback which is a direct link to our developers.

  • ISE 1.3 - Multiple ADs and time zone

    Hi all,
I have a question regarding time zone settings, AD interaction and ISE PSN.
    Assuming the following deployment:
    - ISE distributed deployment with 3
    - Each PSN is joined to a AD at a specific site (example: one in USA, one in Europe, one in Asia)
If the DCs at each site have different clocks (same UTC time source, but different time zone) I'll probably run into issues, right?
    Because:
    First fact:
Set correct time and timezone. Kerberos needs to be within 5 mins of the DCs you use
     (Source: Cisco Live Breakout BRKSEC-2132)
    Second fact:
Also, it is important to have all the nodes in a single ISE deployment configured to the same
time zone. If you have ISE nodes located in different geographical locations or time zones, you should
use a global time zone such as UTC on all the ISE nodes.
     (Source: ISE 1.3 admin guide)
So the first recommendation is, that the ISE PSN has the same clock as the local DC - on the other hand the time zones in one distributed deployment should be the same on all nodes.
    What to do?
    Big thanks in advance!
    Johannes

Not yet - In my lab environment I'm not having a multi-tier CA (and I'm not very good when it comes to Microsoft Active-Directory stuff :) )
    Edit:
I did one very limited test in my testlab. In my testlab I'm having one DC and two ISE appliances.
Test1: I removed the AD join of the ISE appliances. The ISEs are configured for CET and I reconfigured the time zone of the DCs to UTC-7:00.
ISE and DC clocks are correct (synced against NTP), but the absolute time is different due to different time zones.
Then I joined the ISEs again - and it worked.
Test2: I removed the AD join of the ISE appliances. The ISEs are configured for CET and I configured an incorrect static time to the DCs (some weird time).
    ISE join won't work
Error Description: Clock skew detected with active directory server
    Support Details...
    Error Name: LW_ERROR_CLOCK_SKEW
    Error Code: 40087
Perfect - different time zones are obviously ok...

  • Daylight Savings Time and Time Zone Issue:

Howdy!  Many of us woke up this morning to be dismayed to find that our iPhone was TWO hours behind instead of falling back one for the Daylight Savings Time adjustment, and were late for church.  I have an iPhone 4S, with iOS 5...
I was working at that time of morning, and the initial switch went well.  However, when I woke up, the clock was yet another hour behind.  A little investigation showed that the Time zone had been changed to Denver (It was previously on Chicaco, and I live in Dallas.)  I tried to select it to change it, and it wouldn't allow me.  If I turned off the Set Automatically feature, then I could change it, but when I turned the Set Automatically feature back on, it would re-set the time zone to Denver.
I found another thread where they discuss this:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16644669
To fix this, put in airplane mode, then back out again, then re-choose your correct time zone.  If this doesn't work, then try turning your phone completely off and then on again.  Thanks to 4n6doc for the tip!
The airplane mode trick worked for me:  I turned airplane mode on, then off, then went to the Date & Time and set my time zone to Dallas, TX while the Set Automatically was off.  When I turned the Set Automatically back on, it changed Dallas to Chicago, which is what every iPhone iOS I've ever had has done.

    Hi,
Yes this is a correct way to fix the issue. One thing however, how did you set the timezone? For correct daylight saving handling, you'll have to use the long version, like America/New Yorw, NOT GMT-5 (for example).
    regards,
    ~ Simon

  • ICal and Time Zone

I have a problem with iCal.
In iCal time zone shows as a "CENTRAL EUROPEAN TIME" which is wrong. There is the an option to change (Other) that but it does change anything. When i try to change it goes back to "CENTRAL EUROPEAN TIME" again.
On the other hand In my preferences, my time zone shows as "WESTERN EUROPEAN SUMMER TIME" which is correct.
When i send an iCal, the recipient receives two hours in the invitation.
I can i solve this problem?
    greetings,
    Paulo

It will send in the timezone of your location in preferences. You can verify this by sending an appointment to a web mail account, and then downloading the attached ics file and opening it with text edit. You'll be able to see exactly what Timezone it is sending.

  • Siri and time zone error

    Hello.
I live in Moscow (Russia) and I've bought iPad Mini here.
When I ask Siri to create a meeting for example at 5 p.m. she creates it at 6 p.m.
I think this problem connected with Moscow time zone changing from +3 to +4.
I have checked and changed all possible time and location settings but I have no any results.
Do you know something about this problem?

after a strucking with the error for long time..it got resolved..
check the time zones present in your db...
suppose if u have alaska in your db..den its gmt is -9.00..
so add -Duser.timezone="-09:00" in java options for project...
right click on the project->properties->run/debug/profile->select ur profile->edit->java otpions
dont forget to restart the jdevloper for above change to take its effect

  • Location Services: Setting Time Zone... Always Active

Just wondering if anybody else is experiencing the always active SETTING TIME ZONE setting in LOCATION SERVICES / SYSTEM SERVICES.
It's always purple - never stops polling for location.
I've noticed a change in the battery life for my iPhone 4 and I think this is the culprit.
Is that setting needed for anything in particular or can it safely be turned off?
Thanks for any advice you have!

Grrrrrr, now (after the iOS 5.0.1 update), this is happening not only on my iPad, but also on my iPhone 4S, which never had the problem on iOS 5.0.  So, instead of going from 1 to 0 devices having the problem, I've gone from 1 to 2 after the update!  Isn't this the opposite of what was supposed to happen?
Letting the iPhone sleep for a while, shutting it off and turning it back on, resetting it with home+power, all do nothing.  Weirdly, it *wasn't* doing this right after I did the update; it only started about a day or so later.
****Update: and now it's off again, but it did come on for about 10 minutes and then turned off again.  Hmmmmm. I agree that having the status bar icon enabled is a good idea, to at least be able to see when this happens and disable it if you're in a situation where battery life matters.

  • How to account for shifts and time zone differences in an EPC simulation?

BPA EPC Simulation results add up processing times and wait times, without regard to shifts or time zone differences between tasks. Does anyone have a technique to deal with shift work or time zone differences? For instance if a task takes 6 hours to complete, the worker can do it in one shift if the task is received within the first two hours. However, if the task arrived near the end of the work day, the worker may work on it for the balance of the shift and then continue the work the next day. The value of a Static Wait Times then depends on when the task is received by the worker. Any ideas on how to realistically model this?
Similarly, if workers pass tasks between them in difference time zones, static wait times may or may not accurately reflect the impact on thru put time. Any ideas on modeling this?
    thanks
    Rodger Martin

Thanks Michael -- you've helped me with the project before (back in May of this year).
I started this project  as a newby back in 2010 and was a bit overwhelmed (i.e. just happy to get everything into FCP and be able to edit.)
I'll try the media manage solution, but if that doesn't work I think I'll live with the one-frame drift.  I'm assuming
the only other alternative would be to go back to all the original video and audio files; transcode using Compressor, and then re-synch with Plural Eyes and go back in to match up the edits?
Thanks to your continuing help, I should know how to set things up correctly from the get go for the next one!

  • How to change date format and time zone from the client.

In order to change time zone, you need to go Administration-> Access Management (Step 1), and select your name on the right (Step 2).
Then select Edit tab at the bottom of the screen, and change both Time Zone and Regional Setting.

    Thanks for sharing, Agnes.

  • IPhone 4s Battery life, Location Services, Setting Time Zone

So, many threads and articles on the internet are claiming that turning off "setting time zone" in location services (under system services) solves their battery drainage issue.
I've tried turning off location services together with other things, and while there seems to be an improvement, I don't really think it is solving the problem completely in my case.  For example, even after:
      - a full iphone restore from iTunes
      - no third party apps
      - the phone in Airplane mode (no Wifi or cellular connectivity)
      - all location services off
      - iCloud syncing completely off
       - Facetime off
       - iMessage off
       - bluetooth off
        - WITHOUT using the phone at all
... I seem to be lsoing about 25 % of charge every nine hours, which extrapolates to 36 hours time, total.
... but this is with  ll networking functions turned completely off (set up basically as an old-time PDA but without actually using it) and without turning the phone on.
Apple claims a time of 200 hours standby with all services on, connected to a WiFi access point with only "ask to join networks" set to the off position.
    How is that possible?
Looking at my phone usage under General settings, even with all the networking functions turned completely off (as above), my phone is spending about 90 % of time "in use." But I'm not using it!
At least with this phone, it seems like not all is explained by the "setting time zone" service under location services. Even with the screen off, no networking functions, and limited functionality, it appears to be cranking away at something.
    Can anyone else reproduce this?

Grrrrrr, now (after the iOS 5.0.1 update), this is happening not only on my iPad, but also on my iPhone 4S, which never had the problem on iOS 5.0.  So, instead of going from 1 to 0 devices having the problem, I've gone from 1 to 2 after the update!  Isn't this the opposite of what was supposed to happen?
