Location of app bundle resource map

Hi,
I'm working with some legacy code that loads plugins contained in app bundles. It requires that the app bundle contain a resource map, which it verifies using CFBundleOpenBundleResourceMap. I'm trying to tweak my bundle so it will load, but I haven't be able to find any information about where exactly the resource map should be located. Is this simply a question of placing an .rsrc file in the Resources/ directory of the bundle? If so, does it have to have a specific name? I've tried various names but without success.
Thanks,
Matt

    @ Gypsygypsy,
You will need to have location services on for maps and the other apps that you require location settings for.
Settings : Privacy : Location Services
    I hope this helps

  • Devices and I are in one city but time zone and location based apps show devices location in another city

iPad2 with IOS 8.1.2 located with me in Eastern Time Zone city but settings under General reflects Central Time Zone(Chicago).  All location based Apps are reflecting a Central Time Zone city, one that I have never visited.  I did an erase and restore of a backup prior to this issue but it was not resolved.  What do I do?

I am having a similar issue. I moved about 10-15 miles. Any app, such as Maps, a Weather, etc, that use location keep showing my current location as my old address. I'm interested in hearing the solution to your problem.

To develop Message Driven Beans, select EJB in the Component Palette, and select Message Driven Bean in Component Palette list. A UML diagram, and a Message Driven Bean node gets added. Select the Message Driven Bean node. A EJB Module Editor gets displayed. Select Enterprise JavaBeans>Message Driven Bean in the EJB Module Editor and configure a Message Driven Bean.

  • Can no longer operate other apps when Google Maps is giving directions

I have an iPhone 4s and just recently upgraded to IOS 8.02.  I use Google Maps extensively for traveling, along with FStream (Internet radio app).  Up until this update (and a Google Maps update), I was able to reduce Google Maps en route, bring up FStream and choose another station.  Now, when Google Maps is directing me somewhere (using Directions), when I pull up FStream, there is a blue banner on top of the app that says "Google Maps is using your location."  While this is there, you are unable to operate any of the controls (buttons) on the app (and, I'm guessing, any other app).
Now, having also used both Apple Maps (the ill-fated release) and Waze, I know Apple Maps also restricted usage of other apps while it was providing directions.  And, Waze wouldn't allow you to even recite (using the mic) or type in an address while moving (obviously a safety consideration, which I can understand).  I think they reversed that decision in a later release.  But, Google Maps (up until now) at least let you switch between open apps and (in my case, in FStream) change stations.
    My questions are:
    1. Is this an IOS 8 "improvement" or a Google Maps "improvement" (i.e. how do I complain to)?
    2. And, other than having to temporarily turn off "directions" in Google Maps in order to be able to switch stations, is there another fix to this?
    Thanks.
    Richard

Well, I think I've narrowed it down somewhat.  In experimenting with other apps while Google Maps is giving directions, I find that most other apps are working, even with the blue Google Maps banner on top.  So, in summation, I believe it is the old, out-dated, FStream app (which was last updated in 2010) that might be the culprit.  The search begins for another Internet radio app where you can manually enter the station URL.

  • Location is not available to mapped network drive in Windows 8 using Synology NAS

    Original Thread:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-files/location-is-not-available-to-mapped-network-drive/ca7eac5c-0e3d-494b-b488-e245978e4db9
I have recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 standard edition. I have come across a problem when using the option for mapped network drives. Under Windows 7 I would normally map a network drive (Synology NAS) and I could access all files, copy and paste, install
apps, and link media, all from within the mapped network drive. However, under Windows 8.1 I have come across a couple of problems.
    1. When I try to copy a file from my "Mapped Network Drive" to the C:\Drive (OS Boot Drive), I get the following error,
"E:\ is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. if the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the
location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted."
However, if I copy a file from the "NETWORK/Network Location" the file copies just fine with no problems. And, If I also copy a file from a "Added Network Location" the file also copies just fine with no problems. And, if I copy a file from
my "Mapped Network Drive" to my D:\Drive (non OS Drive), the file copies just fine with no problems.
    2. When I try to install apps from my "Mapped Network Drive" they will sometimes install and sometimes not (I am also choosing the option to run the programs as Administrator). Again if I try to install using either the "NETWORK/Network Location"
or an "Added Network Location" the apps install just fine with no problems.
    3. When I link media (music or videos) from my "Mapped Network Drive" they will work but once I reboot they no longer work as if they have lost the file path or link of the original source location.
    4. When I use FireFox (browser) and I set my default download dir to my "Mapped Network Drive" it will work once originally set it but after I reboot, it no longer works. However, again if I set the default download dir to either the "NETWORK/Network
Location" or an "Added Network Location" the default download dir works fine even after reboot.
While I am able to access my network drive using any of the three options, "Mapped Network Drive", "NETWORK/Network Location", and "Added Network Location" but only "NETWORK/Network Location", and "Added Network
Location"appear to be reliable. Tbh I would prefer to be able to use my "Mapped Network Drive" in Windows 8 as I have been able to under Windows 7.
    More info:
I currently have UAC set to "Never Notify".
I also have Windows 8.1 installed on three different systems and all of them give me the same exact problems. One of the systems is a completely clean install with no 3rd party apps installed.
Just so its clear I am able to access the "Mapped Network Drive" but unfortunately this method of access appears to be unreliable in Windows 8 but in Windows 7 it works flawlessly.
If I map a network drive from another pc running windows 7 or 8, I can access and use the mapped drive with no problems. This problem appears to be related to the Synology NAS devices and I have researched the Synology forums but only found one thread about
    the problem, here:
    http://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=76687
I have searched several forums and attempted to pick the brains of my local computer shops for any incite on this problem but I have been unable to find a solution/fix.
Any help resolving this is greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Based on your description, we can temporarily disable the firewall to see whether the issue persists.
For this issue seems related to the Synology NAS devices, in order to get professional help regarding the product, we can contact the vendor support to see whether the issue
    can be fixed.

  • Need help with Resource Mapping from Application Deployment to VC:virtualMachine

    Hi,
I've built a number of vCO Workflows and hooked them up to Resource Actions in vRA. However, the Workflows I've built all take a VC:VirtualMachine as the input and therefore, they only "hookup" to VMs in the Machines list in the Items tab in vRA. Ideally, I want these actions to hookup to the Application Deployments in vRA since that is what my users are deploying - the VM that the App rides on is somewhat secondary. Plus, it's cumbersome for them to find the VM that corresponds to the App they want to run the action on.
So, I looked into creating a new Resource Mapping, thinking I could map an Application Deployment to a VC:VirtualMachine so that I could create an Action for the Application. I was able to create a mapping from Application Deployment to VC:VM using the Map to VC:VM existing workflow and I could add that to the Actions menu for the Application Deployment but if I try to run it, it fails. I kind of expected this since I think the Map to VC:VM is expecting an input of IaaS VC:VM to map to vCO VC:VM. I think what I need to do is write a Workflow that will take in the Application Deployment "object" and find the VC:VM inside it but I don't know how to find out the structure of an Application Deployment such that I could parse it and get the VM.
Does this make sense? Am I going about this the right way? Thanks for any help,
    Tom

  • Loading bundle resources from a plugin that does not know its own directory

    Hi,
I am writing a plugin that is distributed as a bundle file. This bundle file is dynamically loaded by the host application(source unavailble). Is there a way of finding out the directory/filename of the plugin's bundle file?
If i use a c++ command to list the current directory, it gives the directory of the host application-not the plugin. Since all file system calls are relative to the host application's startup directory, I need to know how to get the directory so the plugin can load files inside of its own bundle resource directory.
    Any advice?

In that case I think your best bet is CFBundle, which is a C-API. See the CF example code (e.g. Listing 3-2 and 3-4) under Locating and Opening Bundles in the +Bundle Programming Guide+, and the CFBundle Reference.

  • HT5429 How can I set back phone settings to go from a searched location in safari to apple maps rather than google directions?

How can I set back phone settings to go from a searched location in safari to apple maps rather than google directions?

Click Here enter destinations, link to page in iWeb or iFrame it by clicking on "Link to Page" from Google map. This may seem ironic but if you are looking for something the best way to find it is by searching Google. For instance Googling "google map directions" will send you to referenced page. for a sub-$20 app I find it hard to believe you find it hard to believe Apple hasn't integrated this feature into the software.
    Hope that helps!

  • Iphone5 goes to google maps whenever an app needs a map, i'd rather use apple maps. how?

My iPhone 5, when using an app with location services always revrts to google maps an Id rather use Apple maps. Ho did this happen and/or how can I make it stp?

It is up to the app developer what map API to use. The apps you have chosen to use Google; I have an app that uses Bing. It is the developer's choice, not Apple's, however.

  • OK to remove apps bundled with Leopard?

Despite having my Macbook for nearly a year (and owning an eMac before that) I am still a bit clueless as to what extent Leopard's pre-installed apps are integrated into the OS. Given that I don't use many of the default OS X apps, I'd prefer to remove some of these rather than have them cluttering up my hard-drive.
However, I've noticed that some apps seem to perform other tasks and provide resources for other programs... and certainly some "alternatives" to the likes of Safari and iTunes rely on those being installed to work.
Can anyone give me a rough idea of which programs I can remove (if any?), and which ones it's a good idea to keep even if I don't use them?
    Thanks

The suite of apps bundled with your machine are fantastic. You never know when, somewhere down the line you will decide to use one of them. For example, you may not be a musician and would think Garageband is a waste of your time but somewhere down the line you may need to do some simple editing or even do some kind of recording/podcast.
I deleted iMovie and iDVD on my iBook because it didn't have a DVD burner. This saved tons of space. Now that I have a large hard drive I keep both those apps, even though I only use them from time to time. They are the right tool for the job when I need to do a quick video and burn it on a DVD.
iTunes and iPhoto help you organize your digital media. I don't just organize photos in iPhoto, I also use it to organize a vast quantity of clip art. Other iApps link directly to the iphoto library and allow you to search and paste in clip art without even opening iPhoto. If you have the iWork suite it takes full advantage of this integration.
There is no need to keep Safari, although it is still my favorite browser. Apple has done a great job creating a web browser in minimalist fashion. Safari is simple, powerful and takes up little of your screen. It is also very easy to organize and search bookmarks and history. Safari's new find field is much better than other browsers I have used. You can find a word on a large web page in seconds and Safari highlights it for you so you can see it easily.
Mail may not be robust enough for some but I love smart mailboxes and Mail's junk filter. Very few spam items see my inbox. Mail's integration with Address Book is excellent.
iWeb allows you to make a web page in seconds and post it to the net. I have used it for a large website with many pages, photo pages, file sharing, etc. If you have a .Me account, publishing to the web is a simple click of a button.
Some people's needs are simple or there are third party utilities that people like better. Personally, I spend about 80% of the time using iApps and 20% using some excellent third party apps.
Give a list of the apps you have questions about and we will tell you what they are used for and if it is a good idea to get rid of them.

  • How do I disable App Store in Maps?

I have disabled Safari and App Store in iOS 6 on my son's iPod Touch using Parental Controls to prevent him from making unuathorized purchases and accessing inappropriate content online. But, I am still able to access the App Store through Maps when I do the following:
"-find your desired location in Maps
-click the right arrow in the location's name (not the green navigation logo)
    -choose "directions to here"
-choose the bus logo at top right (used to take you to transit directions)
-now you'll be presented with a list of available "routing apps."
Routing Apps are now listed for purchase through the App Store and many of them have internal web browsers allowing full access to the internet.
How do I disable this from happening?

No way that I know of. Inform Apple of the problem.

  • Linking to private frameworks in an app bundle

I'm trying to figure out how to include a couple of frameworks in my app bundle. I've added a custom build step to copy them to the Frameworks directory in my app bundle, but I'm still getting a linker error when I try to run the program ("dyld: Library not loaded: @rpath/Foo.framework/Versions/A/Foo"). What else do I need to be doing to get the application to look for the framework in the right place?

In your custom build step, after copying the frameworks, run the "installnametool" utility to change the location of the dynamic library to your internal version.
