Other members have give the view name to you but if you are looking to find that precisely on which disk(s) your file is created, it won't come from the view. All what V$datafile would show that your file is created on a disk group called +DATA that's all. The actual placement of the file extents is not shown to the dba's.
Just my 2 cents.

  • Can we point an Data files to a network drive.

    Hi All
Nice to see you al l!!!
Just for knowledge i tried to install the SAP IDEAS ECC6.0 in a machine and wanted to point the Data files in a Network Mapped drive. As per my studies its should be possible. But while I was installing I tried to point the data file to the mapped Network drive, I couldn't find any option or the Mapped Drive in the drop down options given.  Is there any possibility that i can implement in this fashion.
    Environment: Windows 2003
    SAP: IDEAS ECC 6.0
    DB: Oracle 10g
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi ,
    Thanks for your Quick reply.  Just for knowledge. Is it possible to Install the in the local for the first time and change the Data files alone to the Network derive later as we can change the location of the data files in Oracle like ALTER DATABASE RENAME FILE u2018<fully qualified path to original data file name>u2019 TO u2018<new or original fully qualified path to new or original data file name>u2019;

Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.
    Assuming a Managed Library:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • How to store ASO dat file in different location

    Hello Everyone,
i have a requirement where I need to store the .dat(ASO) file in a location other than the folder where the application artifcats are stored. In BSO, We can right click the database, edit, properties and in Storage tab we can choose where Data and Index files have to be stored. Do we have similar option for ASO too? because, the space we have for the application folders are limited and we have a separate SAN drive for storing data and index file and thats where BSO .pag files are stored. Since our ASO cube is growing I want to move the data to a location where BSO data is stored, i mean to the designated drive for data. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

Yes, ASO has the concept of 'tablespaces'. There are four (default, temp, log and metadata) but you probably just want to move the 'default' and 'temp' tablespaces to your SAN location. Temp will look really small (i.e. empty) until you run a restructure or aggregation and then it'll explode to the size of the default tablespace so it's important not to miss.
See the section on 'Managing Storage for ASO Databases' here http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_dbag/asysadmn.html, or the 'alter tablespace' MaxL command here http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_tech_ref/maxl_alttabl.html.
EDIT: Actually, looking at the documentation, I see that you can't move the metadata or log tablespaces. But you're probably only going to care about 'default' and 'temp' anyway.

  • Location of Widget Preferences/Data Files

I've got the "Classic Notepad" widget installed to track job numbers, but after transferring everything to a newer machine, the widget no longer displays the content. I'd like to recover this list, as I (stupidly) don't have it anywhere else, by seeing if I can extract the info from the data files generated by this widget. Can't find any information on the location of those files.
Where are the data files for widgets located in 10.4.11?
    Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. I located the preferences file, which didn't have my data. But you gave me a great clue -- so I looked in the user/library and found a folder which contained the text file and my data! Joy joy and more joy!
I've successfully recovered two years worth of job numbers. Thank you!

  • Does anyone know where the iWeb data files are located or what they are called?  I can't find them.  I looked in Finder for files named the same as my website, but found nothing.  Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone know where the iWeb data files are located or what they are called?  I can't find them.  I looked in Finder for files named the same as my website, but found nothing.  Any help would be appreciated.

If you erased or replaced your hard drive since iWeb was cancelled, then they are gone. Otherwise, if you have maintained backups then check those.
Usually such files are in the /Home/Library/ folder or a sub-folder.
    Exposing the /Home/Library/ Folder
Pick one of the following methods:
    A. This method will make the folder visible permanently. Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and paste the following at the command prompt:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library
    Press RETURN.
    B. Click on the Desktop, press the OPTION (⌥) button, select Library from the Finder's Go menu.
    C. Select Go To Folder from the Finder's Go menu. Paste the following in the path field:
    ~/Library
    Press the Go button.

  • What is the location for the swatches file in the illustrator product part of Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium for windows (date and lenght)? File that manges its funcionallity.  Thanks

As per adobe agent chat representative, the following question is posted on the fórum to obtain an answe from adobe.
What is the location for the swatches file in the illustrator product part of Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium for windows (date and lenght)? File that manges its funcionallity.
    Thanks
    <moved from downloading,installing,setting up - kglad>

Illustrator is not working as it should...
I want them to compare the original size and date of creation with what I have installed on my computer... I have installed several times with my original CD and I tried once downloading the files from the adobe site (using my own license). I suspect the files has been modified or renamed on my laptop by an external unauthorized user causing the malfunction of the application.
Customer services does not support CS3 anymore and the updates / patches in the adobe site does not solve the problem... They redirect me to the forums for support...
Presently, my problem is that after creating a swatch and drag it to the swatch panel, it does not fill as it should a new form... Now, after deactivating and activating my license the swatch seems to fill the new form but when the filter that the swatch has is persistence in the next filling object created even though a different color is being used as a fill (X)... Help in the creation of a swatch over the internet just complicate the issue.
That's why I would like to know whether updates on my product are being received or files are being replaced without my knowledge...
    Thanks...
PS Do you know how to contact a staff adobe employer on the forums?

  • Where is the data file for the address book located, I need to restore mine from backup but don't know where it is.

Where is the data file for the address book located, I need to restore mine from backup but don't know where it is to do so.  Putting my Mac Pro onto icloud synching contacts resulted in duplicate and triplicates of the same cards.  I have a few THOUSAND contacts and the last time this happened was on mobile me.  that had a function where you could replace info on the mobile me server with info on the computer.  I see no way to do that on the new cloud.

In the stupidly hidden user's Library->/Application Support/AddressBook/ labeled as AddressBook-v22.abcddb
For TM restores, see Pondini's TM FAQs for starters, since I don't use TM.

  • How to locate data files

I have a Mac mini and also an external Firewire HD. My plan was to keep them “identical” so I could use the HD as a recovery drive if the mini goes down.
Obviously it isn’t always easy to keep current on all of the software upgrades, but I have fairly much caught up. But I really don’t know where to collect the data files on the mini, so everything is current on the external HD, without having to re-enter everything. Where do I find the specific data for:
Several Dashboard items (e.g., Stickies), Mail settings, iCal, Address Book, QuicKeys settings, and probably others. If someone can direct me to the path(s) to find (any of) these things, then I should be able to locate any others I run into later.
    Thanks, Pete French

SuperDuper! is fantastic! I downloaded the program, saved what I needed from the external to the mini, then erased/zeroed the external.
I decided to pay and Register and get the more robust version. I set it up to copy the mini over (took about 90 minutes for about 29 GB) and when completed it was trulu identical to the mini.
Only problem I had was that it didn't automatically boot from external, as I had set it (booted back from mini) but changing startup disk manually, in Preferences, it came up exactly the same.
I can't praise the program enough!

  • Upgrading 10.6 server with different data files location

I have been trying to upgrade from 10.6 server to 10.7, but I am having a lot of problems.
I think the main cause of the problem is because when I setup the 10.6 server, the data files (like wiki, calendar, itunes, user profiles) are stored on the external firewire hard disk.
When I try to upgrade the system, it doesn't seem to be able to find the locations itself and I tried to build another server and migrate the data by manually, but I can't even get all the user accounts imported using the instructions on how to migrate Open Directory data.
Anyone used a similar setup and successfully upgraded to Lion Server? Please help.

    I have solved this now.
I used Carbon Copy Cloner to move just ServiceData folder back to the startup disk. So everything is on one volume. I used CCC because it preserves all the owners and permissions.
The server admin tool to update each service manually to point to the new folder.
Then I ran "sudo changeip -checkhostname" to check if the result is = "success".
After that, the upgrade ran smoothly.
    Thanks.

  • Moving data files location

    Hi all,
I would like to move the data files (xxxxxx.dbf) of my Oracle 8i database on Windows 2000 from one hard disk to another.
Can be this done safely? If yes, what are the steps?
    Thanks,
    Paul

You can move a file from one disk to another by renaming the file.
Take the tablespace (that contains the file) offline in normal mode .
    ALTER tablespace <tbsname> OFFLINE NORMAL;
Move the files in the tablespace from one disk to another.
    Rename the file in Oracle.
    alter tablespace <tbsname> RENAME DATAFILE ‘C:\oracle\oradata\file1.dbf’ to ‘d:\oracle\oradata\file1.dbf’;
Issue the same for all files in the tablespace
    Bring the tablespace online
    ALTER tablespace <tbsname> ONLINE;
If you want to move all files from one location to another, it will be quicker to clone your database using ‘ create control file’ option. Let me know if you need more details,
I just posted a new tool that helps manage, monitor and tune the Oracle database (including generating a template to clone a database). It is free and can be downloaded from www.odbtools.com. I will appreciate any suggestions.

  • ASM diskgroups unmounting, getting ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock data fil

    All,
We've recently purchased a RAMSAN device for better throughput. I created the initial diskgroup with the following syntax:
    CREATE DISKGROUP EMTPRD0X_SSD01 NORMAL REDUNDANCY
    FAILGROUP RS1 DISK '/dev/rdsk_ramsan_primary' NAME ssd_prim
    FAILGROUP RS2 DISK '/dev/rdsk_ramsan_backup' NAME ssd_bkup;
and then created a temporary tablespace on top of that diskgroup:
    create temporary tablespace temp04 tempfile '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g, '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g, '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g, '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g, '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01' size 25g;
Everything seemed fine at first and then end users started seeing the following errors in the alert log:
    SUCCESS: diskgroup EMTPRD0X_SSD01 was mounted
    SUCCESS: diskgroup EMTPRD0X_SSD01 was dismounted
    SUCCESS: diskgroup EMTPRD0X_SSD01 was mounted
    SUCCESS: diskgroup EMTPRD0X_SSD01 was dismounted

    ORA-01110: data file 3009: '+EMTPRD0X_SSD01/emtprd0x/tempfile/temp04.256.732210281'
After talking with Oracle support I was told that the only workaround for diskgroups unmounting themselves is to put a control file/redo log/dummy tablespace inside of that diskgroup and continually write/read from it.
    Does that make sense?
They pointed me to note 603204.1 - Why FRA Diskgroup Gets Mounted/Dismounted.
The system is a 3 node Oracle 10.2.0.4 rac running on ASM Solaris x86 64bit.
    Any ideas?

  • Location of iPhone sync data files or How to not have to re-install all my iPhone apps?

    Hi Folks,
I recently did a clean install of Lion on my MacBook Pro and I've chosen to not use Migration Assistant because I don't want to move over a bunch of cruft under my 4+ year old home directory (Tiger > Leopard > SL).  I've been very selective about the things I've moved over and all has gone well until I want to sync my iPhone.  I've transferred purchases from the iPhone but if I check Sync Apps, iTunes wants to wipe and re-install everything!  This wouldn't be a problem, except the time it would take to re-organize all my apps on the iPhone again.   (Side note: Please Apple, give us an "auto-organize" button for apps!)
Any idea how to move over my old sync data files to avoid having to nuke/reinstall my iPhone's apps?  Or is there another option to preserve how my apps are organizated?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Rob

Setting it up as new will not put anything over, then when you sync it will sync the applications over and it will sync the applications over Un organized.  My advised should resolve the issue, I work for technical support for the iPhone's, iPad, and iPod Touchs for Apple...
Right Click the iPhone and click Transfer Purchases and then do the backup and restore from backup... That will transfer all your applications over to your computer and then organize them properly in their folders...
OK, that does make sense so I won't bother setting it up as a new phone.
Quick follow up question though, do I need to click the Sync Apps check box before I do a restore?  The reason I ask is that I've done a transfer purchases/backup/restore cycle but all the tabs (Apps, Music, Movies, etc.) do not have the sync check box checked following the restore as I would expect.  And when I go check the Sync Apps check box that's when it warns me "Are you sure you want to sync apps?  All existing apps and their data on the iPhone will be replaced with apps from this iTunes library."  That's when the apps then become unorganized.
Thanks so much for your continued help!

  • What is the effect of changing the physical location of data files

    Hello,
    Here is the situation:
We have 2 physical hard disks (that's right - 2 separate disks). Their logical drives are respectively C: and D:.
We have an Oracle 9i2 database installed on the first disk C:. We have one database with datafiles on D:.
We want to replace the second disk (with the data files) with brand new one. So here is what we did:
    1) We mount the disk and we named it drive F:
    2) We stopped all Oracle services
    3) We copied all data files from D: to F:
    4) We remove the disk with letter D:
    5) We renamed the disk F: to D:
So, now the new drive D: has identical structure as the old one.
Before starting the Oracle instance, I would like to ask: Is everything going to be OK when I start the service? Do we need to do something else?
As far as I know Oracle has internal addresses (ROWID) for the data so I think that changing the phisycal addresses of the files won't be a problem. Am I correct?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Beroetz

I think your database can not be opend in this case.
If you follow this method, you can move a datafile to a new address.
    1.alter tablespace tablespacename offline normal.
2.move datafile to new folder as you did
3.alter tabespace tablespacename rename datafile 'old datafile including fullpath' to 'new datafaile including fullpath'
    4.alter tablespace tablespacename onlin
