Location of Book folder after creation of Book for validation

As part of the Print Book process in A3 one can request that a softcopy of the book is made available for inspection. This is viewed automatically by Preview.
If one asks to Save AS the file one sees that the file is in a folder called Book with a name that starts fstpBook.....
Where is this folder located? - I have used Tinkertools to make invisble items on the drive visible but cannot seee the folder or the pdf file.
Of course I can complete the Save As process to save the file to a known directory - but I would like to know where Aperture puts the file
Thanks for any info

I've just had this. The dropbox preferences are in a hidden directory (.dropbox) in your home folder. Delete that and it should start up as it would with a clean install.
To do this:
Open terminal
run 'sudo rm -r .dropbox'
enter your password
That *should* sort it. I'd renamed my home directory and this messed it up, before I did the steps above I created an alias to my new location that matched to old name, I'm not sure if this is needed but worth a try if the above doesn't sort it..

  • Lost folder after packaing a document for print

Has anyone had a complete folder deleted after packaging it to send to print?

And I mentioned a known problem with names changing to aliases on a network, but you didn't respond about where this folder was located, so I wasn't sure.
As Dov said, nobody has ever reported a complete loss of a folder after packaging. Since as far as we know this has never happened, we hardly are in a position to say why it happened, if, in fact that really is what happened.
You said you searched. Was that using spotlight, or did you openthe location in Finder where the folder used to be and look to see what was there?

  • HT201625 iTunes unable to locate iTunes Media Folder after transfer from PC to Mac?

    Hello
I recently purchased a new Mac Mini, and have been attempting to transfer everything from my old PC to it.
One of these things is my extensive iTunes library, including all of the media, and my iOS devices back-ups. I've been following these first two articles to the letter, as I was using an external drive to transfer my media (my iTunes library and Media folder were already on an external hard drive when in use on my PC):
How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support
Back up your iTunes library by copying it to an external drive - Apple Support
Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes - Apple Support
However, after following the second link all the way through without issue, i've run into difficultly at the final stage (screen shot below):
I am able to find the iTunes Library file. It is called 'iTunes Library.itl'. I click, and it seems like everything is fine as iTunes opens up.
However, none of my media can be found. The only media shown is that which I have purchased via the iTunes store (as I have logged in, which has been successful). I have tried checking in preferences, but I have definitely linked to the right folder as well (see below screenshot).
I'm at a loss at what to do next! Any ideas why this might be happening appreciated.

It seems you have done everything correctly, with the iTunes Music folder in your iTunes folder like this. When you double-click the iTunes Music folder do you see all your songs etc.?
If so, leave everything as is and try a reinstall of iTunes. It might just work.
OS X Yosemite: Reinstall apps that came with your Mac
Edit: I just noticed your music folder is named iTunes Media, which may be the Windows way. Rename it as iTunes Music.

  • Download folder : what is it made for ?

    Hi everyone,
I noticed a large file in my "Download folder" in iTunes folder.
I suppressed it… In fact, now, I wonder if I did well ?
What is this "Download folder" for ?
Can I suppress files from it ? (to late for the one I already erased of course !).
    Thank you…
PS : forgive my clumsy english : I am french.

Thank you very much for your precise answer !
A very strange affair : on my brand new Mac Book pro Retina (256 GB SSD witch is not very big indeed) I noticed an entire TV show in this folder !
I never downloaded it (I had it with Elgato Software in a Direct TV download, what so ever…). So there was no reason it was here.
It is very strange because it was located this download folder after the migration from my previous Mac (nothing was in my SSD before, so I PRESUME that the migration has put these files here.
Must be a bug, don't you think?
I deleted it to make room in my SSD, I hope I did not do a wrong stuff ! (does not seem so).
    Very best regards.

i installed the window 7 ultimate OS in to my mac book pro. after that the partition is not supported and then the folder with question mark flashing on my screen. plaese helf me what to do next to resume mac mac os x?

Assuming that you tried to install Win 7 in bootcamp.
Power on the machine and press and hold the "option" key when you hear the bong sound.
Select the Macintosh HD icon and press "return" or just click on the icon.
Once booted into OS X go to System Preferences and select the Startup Disk icon and configure startup to use the Macintosh HD.

  • Notice msg: 'book folder' was created

    Hi,
After removing the "_" in between words in the Topic Title
field of the Topic Properties dialog box, a "Notice" pop-up window
    appears stating the following:
Note that the 'book folder" C:\ (location of
topic)\topic_name.book\, was created to hold the document and its
    resources.
I click the OK box to close the Notice window.
I've never seen this message before when removing the
underlines in the Topic title. Is this typical RH behavior or have
I done something wrong to prompt this notice message to appear?
    Thanks,
    FMnRH

Hey folks, just noticed this thread and would like to tack on
    something to Rick's excellent advice.
There's another bug that got buried in all this.
    (great emoticon for Halloween!)
FMnRH's first message mentioned that this whole mess started
during the act of renaming topic titles that had underscores.
I call that the "Topic Title Underscore bug" and there is a
    fix for it.
Note: I don't think it has anything to do with the ".book
bug" but it is worth fixing the Topic Title bug anyway so it might
be less likely to happen again.
Technical Support and engineering have issued the Topic Title
Underscore fix and you'll find it in the knowledge base (kb402006).
"Title changes to match file name when importing topics into
    RoboHelp 6"
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb402006
Since FMnRH is compiling HTML Help, I thought I'd add a
couple more Knowledge Base articles covering RoboHelp 6 issues:
"Generic Windows crash error message when you export
Microsoft HTML Help from Adobe RoboHelp 6" (kb401651)
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb401651
"Error, "Internal error encountered, Failed to generate
WebHelp." when you generate a merged project - Robohelp 6"
    (kb401652)
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb401652
Good news: So far, I have not encountered any of these issues
in the new Adobe RoboHelp 7!
    Have a happy halloween

  • I have one Mac, two users.  I wish to share a iBook with my wife, the other user.  I move a copy of the book folder to "public" folder, and in her account "added to library".  Does not show even though cue claims it is in her library.  No book.

I find sharing books within my one computer near impossible - not easy as music is.  It used to be easier, but now with iBooks and some other changes this has become difficult.  Also - I can use the search feature to find the "books" folder, and use "Get Info" to find the supposed address, and then not find that folder location at all using a manual method stepping through Finder.  So a second question is:  where is this file hiding?  It is not under User/Library/Containers.... as claimed by "Get Info".  It seems that if I buy a book, the family can use it to put on their iPad.

Part of me understands the need to have purchases protected.  I hope this does not get more and more complicated for "within family use".  It is nice to buy music and share it with my wife, as we used to do with books prior to the iBooks "upgrade" - which mostly consisted of making it impossible to share books.  Thanks though for your response;  I was hoping for some luck and that maybe I had missed some simple step.  To Apple:  lighten up.
Best regards and thanks again for taking the time -

  • Had the sudden appearence of a "books" folder that contains the Kindle app.  How do I get rid of this folder and return to just the Kindle app icon on the screen?

I have an iTouch. I do not remember exactly what happened, but I now have a folder labeled "Books" that contains my Kindle app.
Previously, I simply had the Kindle app on the home screen.
How do I remove the Books folder and return to the previous setup, i.e. just the Kindle app on the home screen?

Is there another app in the folder like the iBooks app?  Yu can move two apps together and when they combine and be placed in a folder.  Itunes will guess/suggest a folder name and you can change it.  If there are tow apps in the folder just go to that folder and touch and hold the an app and after they start wiggling mode one app out side the folder and folder will disappear if there were only two apps in the folder.  To stop the wiggling depress the Home button once.

  • Mac address book blank after MS Office update

After using the stupid MS Office Updater on prompt, I find that all my contacts are missing from my Mac Address Book! I didn't even install Outlook but the stupid Updater did. My contacts aren't there though and sync is off.
I tried restoring the Address Book folder in the Library/Application support from Time Machine. Nothing.
I tried deleting the AddressBook-v22.abcddb file. Still nothing.
I tried deleting com.apple.AddressBook.plist. Nope. And the other prefs file, too.
I've tried these things several times, different sequence, restarting, yadayada.
I've been troubleshooting my own Mac's since the MacPlus and never been so stumped! I hate M$!
    Ran this in terminal:
    ls -aleO Library/Application Support/AddressBook
ls: Library/Application: No such file or directory
ls: Support/AddressBook: No such file or directory
    leslie-wintners-MacBook-Pro:~ leia$
    (No such file or directory?!!!!)
I will appreciate some expert advice and direction here. Thanks!
    OS 10.6.8 MacBook Pro

Hi sig, Thanks for the reply.
My Address Book was fine before installing this update. The earliest TM I have? And lose all the work I've done on this machine?
I've seen reports that other people had their contacts moved from Address Book to Outlook after this update. So, it seems very likely. Either it's the Update or the PowerPoint I opened that prompted me to update had a virus!
Since I posted, I went to the Genuis Bar, where I surprisingly got lectured about recovery is not what they do, and they could spend only 15 minutes with a customer, spending most of the time on the lecture, ultimately refering me to an expert. He found corruption on my HD and told me to wipe the drive and restore from backup. Ughh.
However, I reran DU and repaired the disk, tested the hardware even. DU reports the disk is ok now.
    Yet, no Address Book.
Before I resort to wiping, I'm wondering if I could detect if I had a received a rare Mac virus...

  • Address Book Folder??

I deleted my user (For reasons I'd rather not say) so I am moving things to my new user by the "Deleted" user folder. I just realized I don't have my Address Book contacts! Is there a folder in the Home Folder that contains the Address Book Contacts?

you still have the "old" files right? just keep them as back up.
ok, quit ab ad all other applications, go back to your new homefolde/library/application support/address book folder and locate the three following items 1) addressbook.data, and tell me what size it is, then 2) metadata folder and 3) addressbook-v22.abcddb
your addressbook.data file should (depending on how many contacts you have) be of a sizeable size, if that is the case it means you did drag your address book data ok, so you only need to remove the two other items, the metadata folder and the .abcddb file. once you have removed them to the desktop for example, then open ab again and see if all your contacts are there. if so, then you can delete the two files you moved to the desktop.
    hope this helps

  • Why wont my book folder be recongnized by itunes?

New to the mac.  I have a new Mini.  I am trying to move my libraries to the Mini.  I Added library by selecting the books folder on my old drive (in a usb3 enclosure). It looks like it is processing the additions and then, when itunes is done with the import, there are no books displayed.
    Help!!

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.

  • How do I import existing contract with just "Address Book" folder?

I did a clean install of Leopard, and now my Tiger backup is unbootable. I do have access to the files, though. I need to get my contacts from my address book from my Tiger backup. I can't seem to get the Leopard Address Book to recognize any contacts from the old ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book/ folder on my backup.
How do I accomplish getting my old contacts to my new install?

I figured it out. I took the ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book/ folder from my old Tiger backup and placed that in my new Leopard /Library/Application Support/ while temporarily renaming the original. Opening up Address Book from there then opened up my old contacts. I then did an export.
After that, I deleted the old ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book/ folder from my Tiger backup I put in my Leopard system, and restored my original Leopard /Address Book/ folder.
Then, I just imported the export I did from the old data.
    Tada.....it worked.

  • Audible Books & Books Folder

I am looking for a way to download and listen to audio book files on the PB.  Specifically, files from Audible.com.
The PB does not seem to recognize the file when attempting to Sync via Desktop Manager from iTunes.
I did move the file to the PB's "Books" Folder when sync'd to my pc, but I am unable to locate this "Books" folder via the PB.
    Thoughts?

I'm a big fan of Audible as well and you usually can't listen to their audio books unless they have created an app that allows it. I have tried a few things but have been unable to figure a way thus far to make it work.
Have you contacted Audible yet to ask them if they plan to support the Playbook? All of us who want to see it happen should let them know..
