Location of "New Document" Presets
Hi — can anyone tell me where the "New Document" presets are located on Mac OS X?
They all disappeared last night…
I've been running a system to sync my office ID prefs with my home ID prefs and I have a feeling that has something to do with it…
d
Yes, if you were making them but not saving them as .dcst files in any specific folder, then when you reset or replaced preferences you did lose them.
Read this comprehensive report, especially bookmark 4: Document Presets:

How do I copy New Document presets from cs6 to cc?
I am constantly losing my CS4 Indesign page presets. I did the define and stored the files. Today, I lost them again, so went to load my saved files, but only one preset saved. Not sure if it was the first preset saved or the last. Do you have to save for every document preset you make? I would think this would all be on one file. I am going to try again, just incase I forgot to save it correctly.

Copy New Document Presets from CS4 to CS5.5
I had a number of document presets saved in InDesign CS4 and just realized that I don't know how to copy them from CS4 to CS5.5 so I don't have to recreate them again (which is what I've done in previous upgrades). I haven't found anythng that helps with the name or location of the presets. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

HELP: Illustrator CS2 New Document Presets
I frequently use illustrator for a variety of page layouts and different projects. My problem is that the list of preset document sizes in the "New Document" dialog is not much help to me, it contains all the wrong paper sizes and I would like to change that.
Does anyone know a way to edit this list so I can have my own presets available each time I create a new document?Look up Templates in the online help.

How to delete a document preset
I created many document presets whilst opening a new document, but I can't figure out how to delete them, nor can I find the folder in the preset folder.
I know it's something simple but just can't get it done.
I'm on a windows 7 64 bit if it makes a diff.
Thanks in advance. There are two different set of presets. Since you mentioned the presets that you made yourself when opening new documents, please follow the instructions below:
Go to File > New
This opens the new document dialog box. Click on the Preset tab, as shown below.
Within the new document presets, I select a preset I had made earlier, but now I do not need.
Now with that custom preset selected, I can now press "Delete Preset", as shown below.
Selecting "Yes" allows for the deletion.
Now, there are also Presets that Photoshop itself has, and you can also delete those.
Go to Edit > Presets > Preset Manager
This opens up the preset manager and you can select the preset type to find the preset you want to delete.
By pressing "Delete" you can delete presets.
I hope this helped to answer your question. Please post back with any further questions.

Hi, I am facing an issue while creating a new web part page (Safeunit.aspx) within a folder (Safematic Seal Support Systems) located under a Document Library (Product Information Documents).
The path I am explaining:
Going to the Document Library (Product Information Documents) --> now inside that, clicking on a folder (Wet Seal Support
Systems) --> now inside the folder clicking on another sub-folder (Safematic Seal Support Systems) --> Here I want the web page Safeunit.aspx
Issue is that when I reach to the required destination, and want to create the web page by clicking on 'Site Action' --> 'Create' --> 'Web Part Page', now while selecting the Document Library name from the drop-down list, I do use 'Product
Information Documents' since the folder is inside this library only; but that create the page directly under the 'Product Information Documents' library, not under the sub-folder (Safematic Seal
Support Systems).
FYI, it is SP2007 version.
Kindly assist in this. Thanks in advance.I see that you have the namespaces reference in your code.
I think you have changed the NameSpace name of your code to CreateSPFolder, change the reference in all your manifest, and other files to point to the current namespace name. It should help.
Hope this helps!

Ps CS6 Action problem: New document created with "Preset: Clipboard" is misnamed
Ps CS6 v13.0.1
OS X 10.6.8
In an Action, File > New with "Preset: Clipboard" ignores the specified document name and uses one of the following names when the clipboard definitely does hold valid content:
1. The name that was applied by the previous invocation of File > New in a session.
2. No name if Action is run before File > New has been used in current session.
Only when the clipboard has no valid content will the newly created document be given the specified name. The Color Profile seems to work differently between CS5 and CS6. In CS5 when I use menu File>New and there is something in the clipboard I see Preset clipboard as the dedault setting and see my current Photoshop color setting profile set in as the color profile. I pasted a ProPhoto selection into the clipboard. When I do the same in CS6 and use File>New I see Preset Clipboard as the default setting but the color profile is not my Photoshop Color setting its ProPhotoRGB the same as I pasted into the clipboard. However if I close CS6 down. Then start CS6 and do menu File>New I see Preset Clipboard as the default setting and the corol profile is my Photoshop color setting profile sRGB not ProPhotoRGB that in the clibpoard. So I feel the copy to clipboard from Photoshop triggers something internally to change the profile in CS6 it not something that gets set in the clipboard for the ProPhotoRGB override does not happen if I shut Photoshop down and restart it.
I think I like the CS6 change. Noel I wrote that for you I want you to know I don't think CS6 is all bad. This change should help one from getting profiles mismatches. CS6 is still the buggest Phoshop around. It does not stop working as smuch as it did befor the 13.0.1 update. And when it does there a chance Autosave may save the day. The last Photoshop stop working message I got from windows was when I tried to run a script. There were no open document so nothing to recover. After terminating CS6 and restarting it the script work without a problem. -
New document from clipboard preset
Hi experts
it is possible to fix resolution 96 to 300 in new document from clipboard preset in photoshop cs2. I don't want to create new preset. want to edit the default clipboard preset.
thanks in advance
regards
a r u lWell, that Clipboard Preset will depend on the pixel dimensions of the image in Clipboard, and will vary, based on what is contained, therein. Photoshop is set up to read the image in Clipboard and allow you to create a New Document, based on those dimensions. It is dynamic.
Why are you opposed to creating a Preset? That could be invoked via the drop-down and will get you exactly what you want.
Good luck,

Trying to save default new document window location.
When you open up a new document (not from a template) it opens up (at least on my computer) in the upper left corner of the screen.
I would -- like -- it to open when I want it to open (bottom middle and smaller window).
What I do in other programs is open up the new document, position and size the window, then save it as a new template and set that template as the default document when opening a new document.
It isn't saving the window position. Any ideas? After all the complaining many of us did about Pages 1 & 2 tiling new documents, they now open in the upper left if there are no other documents open. I agree, that when you set up a template, you expect new documents from it to open exactly as you saved the template. You need to leave feedback for the Pages team as ask for this. I ask not only for window position, but also window size. Every template of mine open to just one page even though most of mine are more than one page.

Hi
I am using cs4 trial.
I already own MX
In CS4.
Lets say i create a new document. I then import an animated
GIF.
Once it is dropped onto the document, Suddenly i cannot move
it. It seems i can only move the image that is on the current frame
or state. It seems that all the images generated on all the frames
are no longer linked.
There must be something i am missing.
I would like to build Animated GIF's from other animated
gif's. And build a library of units of gif animations.
Any sugestions?
Thanks
Jerry CFirst thing to try is deleting your Photoshop preferences and letting the application create new preferences files on re-launch.
To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
Note: If this process doesn't work for you while you're using a wireless (Bluetooth) keyboard, attach a wired keyboard and retry.
Important: If you re-create the preferences by deleting the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings file, make sure that you only delete that file. If you delete the entire settings folder, you also delete any unsaved actions or presets.
Reinstalling Photoshop does not remove the preferences file. Before reinstalling Photoshop, re-create your preferences.
NEW Video! Julieanne Kost created a video that takes you through two ways of resetting your Photoshop preferences. The manual preference file removal method is between 0:00 - 5:05. The keyboard shortcut method is between 5:05 - 8:18. The video is located here.
Mac OS
Important: Apple made the user library folder hidden by default with the release of Mac OS X 10.7. If you require access to files in the hidden library folder to perform Adobe-related troubleshooting, see How to access hidden user library files. -
I can't save *new* documents back to SharePoint
I can’t save *new* documents back to SharePoint. We have a SharePoint 2013 development environment, running on Windows Server 2012 and a Windows 7 Client Computer with Office 2010.
Every time I click „new document“, SharePoint opens the corresponding template file in the client application (Word, Excel,…) So far, so good. When i select „Save“, the client application brings up a local save path on the client computer, not the SharePoint
document library.
I did some research and tried many approaches, but none of them worked.
I installed the Desktop Experience Feature on the Windows Server 2012, added the server address to trusted sites, gave the user farm-administrator rights (to make sure it is no security problem) and switched the authentication mode for the web application.
Does anyone know this problem and found a solution?Hi,
For troubleshooting your issue, you can try to add a registry value to your local registry (on a machine with Office Applications installed through which you are accessing SharePoint sites):
Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Multi-String Value.
Type AuthForwardServerList, and then press ENTER.
On the Edit menu, click Modify.
In the Value data box, type the URL of the server that hosts the Web share, and then click OK.
Note You can also type a list of URLs in the Value data box. For more information, see the "Sample URL list" section in this article.
Exit Registry Editor.

Creatiing new document in TextEdit and saving it to a folder
I'm just starting with applescript. I would like to write a script that will open an e-mail, copy the contents to a new TextEdit or TexShop file, and save the new document to a particular folder. Ultimately the name of the new document should depend on the content of the e-mail, but for now I'd be happy to just be able to create a new TextEdit document and save it in a specified location with a specified name.
I've tried a couple of things, including
tell application "TextEdit"
activate
make new document
set fileSpec to "Disk:Documents:Barbara:TestFile"
save document 1 in fileSpec
end tell
which creates a new untitled document and brings up a dialog, which isn't what I want. I also tried something that involved "with properties {name:TestFile} but that didn't work either.
I have Applescript the definitive guide and Applescript in a Nutshell but neither seems to describe this situation, although surely it's a common one.
I'd be most grateful for any help.
macbook Mac OS X (10.4.6)Not all Macintosh e-Mail'er applications are scripted the same; thus, Apple's 'Mail' e-Mail'er application is assumed.
-- Create dynamic path to the desired folder.
tell application "Finder" to set dFolder to ((startup disk) as string) & "Documents:Barbara:"
tell application "Mail" -- Utilize 'Mail's AppleScript dictionary.
set selected_Messages to selection -- Obtain a list of selected e-Mail messages.
repeat with i in selected_Messages -- Cycle through the selected e-Mail messages.
set tSubject to my Clean_String((subject of i) as string) -- Obtain each e-Mail message's 'Subject' line.
set tContent to (content of i) as string -- Obtain each e-Mail message's contents.
set fRef to open for access file (dFolder & tSubject) with write permission -- Create a new file at dFolder.
write tContent to fRef -- Write the e-Mail message to the new file.
close access fRef -- Close the new file.
end repeat
end tell
on CleanString(localString) -- 'Macintosh file names cannot contain a ':'. Here it is replaced by '_'.
if (local_String contains ":") then -- Check for presence of ':" in local_String
-- Standard 'AppleScript's text item delimiters' preparation.
set {oAStid, AppleScript's text item delimiters} to {AppleScript's text item delimiters, ":"}
set local_String to text items of local_String -- Creates a list of items separated by ":'.
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to "_" -- Set a new delimiter character.
set local_String to local_String as string -- Creates a string from created list with '_' as the new delimiter.
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to oAStid -- Restore 'AppleScript's text item delimiters'.
end if
return local_String -- Return modified / non-modified string.
end Clean_String
The created generic text file can be viewed and edited with any text editor.
Also, the 'repeat ... end repeat' portion can be rewritten as ...
repeat with i in selected_Messages -- Cycle through the selected e-Mail messages.
set fRef to open for access file (dFolder & (my Clean_String((subject of i) as string))) with write permission -- Create a new file at dFolder.
write ((content of i) as string) to fRef -- Write the e-Mail message to the new file.
close access fRef -- Close the new file.
end repeatf

Script to open excel files take info and put into new document
Hi All
I am new to applescript, but looking through the forums it seems to be the solution to my problem.
I have large numbers of excel files on a pc server which i want to open, take approx 8 cells of information from each and place into a new excel doc, forming a list. I want this if possible to happen automatically, so if a new excel document is placed into a folder on the server, the relavent information is added to my list.
I have looked at automator but dont think it works with excel yet, and the programming in excel is too much for me.
I posted a query here in my previous job for a script of change all "/" symbols to "-" symbols, which worked very well and i hope someone more gifted can help with my new query.
Hope i have given enough info and that someone can help
thanksSupplied below is a, quick and dirty (minimal error handling), working self contained (applet) example:
on run {}
display dialog "Drag files onto applet for processing."
end run
on open (dragged_Items)
try
tell application "Microsoft Excel" -- Launch 'Excel' to process '.xls' files
set tList to {} -- Create an empty list.
repeat with i in dragged_Items -- Cycle through each dragged '.xls' file.
open i -- Open each file.
repeat with j from 1 to 8 -- Cycle through the eight column values of a single row.
copy (value of cell j of row 3) to end of tList -- Obtain individul cells' value and place into 'tList'.
end repeat
end repeat
repeat until (documents is {}) -- Routine to close all opened '.xls' windows. Here, 'close windows' does not work.
close windows
end repeat
if (not (document 1 exists)) then make new document -- Create a new document, if needed.
set k to 0 -- Location (position) of a 'tList' item.
repeat with i from 1 to (count dragged_Items) -- Set row value, of where to ener column values.
repeat with j from 1 to 8 -- Set cells' column value.
set k to k + 1 -- Increment 'tList' location.
set (value of cell j of row i) to (item k of tList) -- Enter value into current rows' columns' cell from 'tList'.
end repeat
end repeat
activate -- Bring window to foreground.
end tell
end try
end open
Save the AppleScript code as an applet (application).
Drag the desired files onto the applet for processing.
The above AppleScript code obtains the cell values of columns A through H of row 3 of each '.xls' file.
To automatically process the files of a specific folder - utilize the provided code, with respective modifications, within a
'on adding folder items to this_folder after receiving these_items
end adding folder items to
... AppleScript - 'Folder Action'. -
Creating a new document on the fly?
Is there a way to create a new document when adding a hyperlink to an existing document, directly from the 'insert hyperlink' menu in CS5? I've googled, i've looked through the help, and can't seem to find anything. This feature existed on Frontpage 98, so I can't imagine it can't be done in a Dreamweaver version 15 yrs newer .
I'm in an existing document adding text and I want to add a link to a new page..because as I'm typing I realize a new page is in order. In frontpage a million years ago, I could choose 'insert hyperlink' and one of the options was to 'create new page', so it would insert the hyperlink and create a new blank page at the location specified in the link, named based on what I chose when creating the link. Then later, I could go back and edit that page to add the appropriate content. It's incredibly inefficient to have to create the new page first, and then go back to the document and add the hyperlink
If this doesn't exist, is there a way to add a custom command to the right click menu or the create hyperlink menu?
Thanks!
SteveIn my workflow, I create all my site pages first. When I'm done, I create my site wide navigation inside the main template.dwt file and populate changes to child pages. Or, I put my site wide navigation inside a server-side include.
