Location of Recorded iChats

I recorded a chat and then i went to find the video. It says they record to the documents/ichats folder. The iChats folder was there but there was nothing in it. That folder was new too. I have never had an iChats folder before this. So, I thought it was working but there is not video inside the folder. Also, it says that you can change the preferences to go to another folder. I saw that my preferences were already set to go to my downloads folder but that may just be for incoming files. I looked there, too, and found nothing. I also looked around in other places too.

Hi,
The place to Change this folder in iChat Menu > Preferences > Messages as it is the same one used by Save Transcript if you want to save your Text Chats.
NOTE on the other setting about Files Downloads.
Active Chats that send files and Pics-in-Chats over-rides any change to this setting and Always downloads them to the Desktop.

  • 3rd-party software to record iChat video?

There used to be Conference Recorder by iCamm, but it doesn't support OS X 10.6. I'm looking for some software that enables me to record iChat video, but not necessarily while I'm chatting with someone -- I used to use Conference Recorder to record a video diary for my own purposes.
If I’m using iChat and not chatting with anybody the “record video” option is not enabled. Ther has GOT to be some third-party software out there that does the same job as Conference Recorder did. And I’m not talking that ripoff, SnapzPro — who has $69 to spend on shareware? Apple sells an entire OS for less than $30.
Besides, I don’t want a screen recorder — I would like one specifically for iChat. Any suggestions? It’s hard to believe there isn’t something out there that does what I’m describing for a resonable price.

I don't have an answer to your question, but it seems to me you're not looking for an app to record iChat video -- there's no chat if you're not chatting -- but for an app to record iSight or FaceTime video. Perhaps you'd be better off looking for a video diary app, maybe something like viJournal.

  • How to pass version number from source location to records center?

When designing our record management approach, one of the requirements from business is to pass the version number from the source location to records center. They need to know which version has been declared as a record for the same document.
Is there a way to implement this (OOB)? Thank you.

    Hi,
Based on your description, my understanding is that when you sent a document to records center, you want to pass version number from source location to records center.
When a document is sent to the records Center, we keep its version number as assigned in its original document library as metadata that is submitted along with the document to the Records Center (in the “Properties” sub-folder of the document library in
    the Records Center).
Automatically synchronizing that version number directly into the versioning system in the Records Center is something we should probably consider for a future version, but even in the current version we definitely don’t lose that information.
    Hope this helps clarify.

  • HELP: Recording IChat Conversation with GarageBand - Will not respond

    Hi guys,
I recently recorded an important conversation on IChat video with someone using GarageBand (the voice part) but before stopping recording on GB I closed the video chat window. I think that messed up to the recording and now the GB will not respond (Rainbow disk keeps spinning) I know I could just force quit but I don't want to lose the conversation it was 2 hours of work (REALLY IMPORTANT WORK) If anyone could offer some advice of what I should do I don't want to Force Quit incase there is a solution. Thank you so much for any help and I really need it so if anyone has any advice please tell me ASAP!!!
    Thanks Again!
    Harry

Here's what you should try. Locate the folder where the recordings are stored:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/FAQPages/AIFFsStored.html
Don't mess with the contents but make a copy of the Media folder (by alt-dragging it to the Desktop, for example). Then force-quit GB and try to open your project again. If your tracks aren't there, try to rescue them from the copy you made!

  • I am not receiving prompt from Garageband while trying to record iChat.

I tried recording a podcast via iChat between myself and someone in another location.
We can hear each other on Ichat but Garageband does not pick up our conversation, it only records my voice
I had both iChat and GB open, and the call was connected before I hit the record button, but I did not get a prompt in GB like I was supposed to
The other person is using a PC, do not know if that makes a difference?
Any ideas why GB isn't recording properly?
Also, is there anyway to have the other person on the podcast hear the music track live, while recording the podcast?

Check with your carrier and make sure your account is properly provisioned.

  • Cannot Record Ichat session

I have a Macbook Air and my Record a Chat selection is grayed out. When I go to Connection Doctor under capabilities is says Insufficient CPU next to Record Video Chat. Here are the specs on my machine.
    Model Name: MacBook Air
    Model Identifier: MacBookAir3,2
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 1.86 GHz
    Number of Processors: 1
    Total Number of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 6 MB
    Memory: 4 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
Can anyone tell me what my problem is? From everything I've read, my processor should be able to handle this. Both machines are running Version 10.6.5 and IChat 5.
    Dan

    Hi,
    I had not seen that.
Some thoughts at what they may be getting at.
I know the Processors in some models do get shared between Video Production (screen) and other forms of Moving pics.
Lets say iChat is doing a Video Chat.
The RAM is then used for iChat to produce moving pics to show as your Preview and send to the Buddy.
It is also dealing with the Incoming Video
In other computers the info is then sent to the Video Card for it's RAM to produce the picture on your screen.
In the Macs that have a  Video card that accesses the Main RAM we are then talking about the Main RAM dealing with Video Production from your Camera and Incoming Video And Presenting that On Screen.
Adding in Record as well may just be a step too far.
Snow Leopard introduces the IMCore Framework which does mean that the Video is "produced" in a different way compared to Leopard.
The IMCore is used by iChat in Video Production
IMCore.framework to give it it's proper and full name is in Hard Drive/System/Library/Frameworks
It may be that the above Video/Screen presentation cannot make use of this.
This new item may explain why the same computers can Record in Leopard but not Snow Leopard/iChat 5
I have not heard back from the Poster and have not had any other threads on the matter.
Worst yet I don't have an AIR to test with or have Buddy that I know has one that we could test on.
    Basically I have nothing new.

  • Recording iChat Audio for Podcast

I'm struggling to find a solution for recording audio for podcast interviews and am thinking that perhaps there's an easy answer I'm overlooking.
I have no problem connecting to an interview subject using iChat, however, my voice levels are only 50 to 75 percent as strong as the subject's. This same situation occurs when I'm using Skype. I have all of my input levels set to maximum.
Tests with Ecamm Call Record and Audio Hijack Pro have a similar problem.
Also, is there a way to record audio directly from iChat with these third-party apps?

    Umm, a Pretty problem.
I would first test with several Buddies to get their opinion on how loud you seem to them.
I can turn up my volume but it still requires that I speak as loud as I would in a conversation and face the Mic. If I sit too far back from the mic I get too quiet no matter how I talk.
I find this with people who test with me who confirm they have System Preferences > Sound > Input volume cranked up. (the worst are Australians sitting outside on the veranda for Breakfast and trying to show me the view with a laptop)
As I have two Macs sitting quite close to each other I do get feedback if I connect the two in a Chat so I have to pay attention to the volume setting.
Having said all that if the resultant recording seems too low in Volume at You end I would personally use iMovie 6 to teak the volume up when I spoke - either by Extracting it and cutting it up and increasing those portions or by using the purple and yellow dots to do so.
The Eccam page actually says this...
    Create a Podcast
Conference Recorder makes it easy convert your QuickTime movies into MP3 or AAC format. Simply drag a recorded QuickTime movie to the included "Convert to MP3" or "Convert to AAC" utilities, and let them do the work for you. Additionally, Conference Recorder records each side of the conversation on separate tracks, allowing for easy post-editing. The included "Split Movie Tracks" utility will automatically export each movie track to a separate file.
This would mean that you could turn up the track for your Audio in Quicktime Pro
Launch the file but not Playback
Go to the Window Menu > Show Movie Properties
    Select the Audio Setting tab.
Increase the Volume db on one Audio track and see if it your speech by playing.
Adjust as required (Change track if required).
Save File to save the adjustment.
    Hope this helps.

  • Location of recorded web conference

I recorded an online beehive conference but can't find the location of the recorded file? Could you please advise where I might be able to locate this?
    Thanks, Mariska

    Hi,
By default it should have been placed in your personal Workspace - you will have to use something like the webDAV client or a webDAV client like the Desktop Integration Server to access the area as the teamcollab client does not shiow this space - the way to set up the webDAV access is described in the FAQ section of the http://beehiveonline.oracle.com page.

  • On Location Not Recording Canon Camcorder

Ok ii know canon camcorder isnt exactly the greatest, but i did just find out why it wouldnt record.
a little history....It would show video on screen, record button looked armed, but hittin it would not record anything.
however other software and even premiere would control playback and capture whatever was on tape.
so looking at previous post about webcam got me thingking, i had a install of camtasia v3 and it was showing up as a possible source in
    on location.
    so i uninstalled it.
now i can record grainy video with my canon camcorder.
of course i get the impression this may relate to other higher priced camera's as well.
    so consider yourself informed.
    be weary of Camtasia.

Thanks for this additional info, PhotoJoe. I've added this detail to the bug report.

  • Can you record ichat as a video???

and then upload it to a hosting site then embed the html code????? Is this too far fetched?
    Thanks!

doug, the 2.0.3 update runs on intel, but is not universal - it still runs under rosetta - but i hear it runs fine.

  • Record Video in iChat no longer available

Trying to help my Dad with this problem.
He owns a MacBook Air, and recently upgraded to Snow Leopard (now on 10.6.3). Before, in Leopard, he was able to record iChat sessions in "Video-> Record Chat" with the same computer. For some reason, now that option is grayed out.
Under "Video -> Connection Doctor -> Capabilities", it lists "Insufficient CPU" next to "Record Video Chat".
I had him delete all of his iChat preferences in his Home->Library->Preferences folder (which subsequently fixed the problem of me not being able to share his screen). However, it did not fix the record video problem.
Did Apple take out this feature for certain processors with the advent of Snow Leopard? How can he get it back short of taking 10.6 off of his system? Seems very strange to me that this is not working when it used to.

  • Trying to sample a sensor voltage and record location (with delay)

    Hi all,
Wondering if someone could help me here, i'm still quite a Labview novice... Basically I have a sub vi which I created that is feeding in analogue sensor values into my main vi in parallel with another sub vi, which is feeding in gps location in a combined latitude and longitude string. What I am looking to do is to record the locations in a visible array on the front panel when the acceleration is over a set amount (1g).
The issue I have is that I only wish to take down one location string for each time the acceleration is exceeded, so I would like to implement some sort of delay so that when the acceleration increases beyond 1g, the location is recorded and then the program waits for a given time before taking the next location (I only want one location recorded per event). But I cannot work out how to do this. The only way I can think of achieving it will give me several position values each time the acceleration passes the limit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Ok, sorry about that. I have attached the vi and hopefully you will understand what is going on. Essentially the while loop to the right hand side is what I have been given and the part I have worked on is in the left hand while loop. So I have the latitude and longitude string which is called "concatenated string" and my accelerometer readings come from the sub vi called Accelerometer. I currently have boolean greater than set for if>1.
The really hard part that I am struggling with is getting the latitude and longitude string to write accross to the array on the right hand while loop called "Marker location array" as a new indexed value and to do this only when the acceleration is above my set value.
Thanks again for any help and hopefully I have uploaded it properly!

  • How to Record a video message (iChat) in messages?

I use to record iChat's with my grand children, but after upgrading to Mavericks, and their move to MESSAGES...
The option to Record Video Chat does not seem to be available, Is this true?  and if so...
    1) is there a work around?
    2) or another piece of software that allows recording of a video chat?
    OR
if it is still available, how do I get the option to show up on my menu?
    Thanks for your help...
    Bill

    Hi,
I got Screeny in Mountain Lion and it works in Mavericks.
I see Joe M has put up the Feedback link which is advisable.
(you have to add your specs to the free text area as the drop downs for the version have never bben up to date or even in sync with the OS drop down).
As to why Apple changed this ?
Unclear.  The boards specifically say speculation is not allowed.
    However.
    1) the app initially did not request that the Viewee agreed
    2) there have been many instances including schools on pupils who have school devices being "spied" on.
    3) internet related privacy is tending to be increased.
