Location of SoD R15 Widgets/Gadgets

Hi All,
I found a page on the Oracle Wiki - http://wiki.oracle.com/page/CRM+Gadgets?t=anon - that indicates the first batch of widgets/gadgets will include -:
- Contact Gadget
- Accounts Gadget
- Opportunities Gadget
- Quota Gadget
- Search Gadget
Does anyone know where these can be located (assmunig they've been released)?

Thanks for your response. Sorry, I should have made myself a bit clearer in my first post. I know that we already have access to some widgets, but these are different to (in both content and appearance) the ones that are detailed in the Wiki and other Oracle documentation that has been published.

Has anyone got the widgets that came with R15 working in Google Desktop? I followed the help file instructions but it hasn't worked.
It's added the Gadget but the page says Internet Explorer was unable to link to the web page you requested.

All,
When setting up the Google Desktop Gadgets use these URL's not the ones in the help file
http://crmondemand.oracle.googlepages.com/oracle_msgcntr_1_1.xml for the message centre and
http://crmondemand.oracle.googlepages.com/oracle_favlists_1_1.xml for the favourites
These give you the option to add your pod details and login details.

Where are the selfmade widgets located? esp. the web clips

I would like to locate the web clip made widget in the files so I could delete them when I wanted to. Anybody any idea?

Properties lost when widget is updated

I have created a simple widget using the Widget Factory. I've entered some Properties in Captivate and it works fine. However, after updating the widget in Flash and then clicking Update widget in Captivate, my Properties are gone (although the change was purely cosmetic and all objects stayed the same).
Can a widget be written in a way that it would preserve its Properties between updates?
One way that comes to mind is that it could use User Variables to store its Properties and then intelligently read them as default values after update (similar to http://www.infosemantics.com.au/widgetking/2010/11/widget-properties-how-theyre-used/). But it would burden the course designer to create a variable for each widget instance times the number of its properties and naming them somehow specifically. (unless widget can create User Variables itself, but can it?)

This is the default behaviour that Adobe has designed for updating widget versions. It wipes out properties settings in the Widget Properties dialog. And at this time Captivate does not allow widgets to create user variables in the main project.
However, there's actually an easy way to get around this. Just add the same (old version) widget to another slide in your project and hide that slide. Make sure you insert the widget from the same folder location as other widgets in the project of the same name. When you want to update to a newer version of the widget, copy the new version widget to the original folder location so that it overwrites the old version of the widget, then go to the hidden slide in your project and right-click Update the widget.
This will update all widgets of the same name that were inserted from the same original folder (Captivate remembers the source location) but only the widget on your hidden slide would lose it's properties settings. All of the others in the project will retain them.

Trying to download Widgets

Every time I try to download a Widget (any) there is the following message:
Cannot process command - Internal Error
Oops! We seem to have run into technical difficulties and cannot complete your download request. It could be that the download link you tried to access has changed and the developer forgot to notify us. Want to let us know so we can get it fixed? Send us an email or make your way back to Downloads for any other downloads you need.
Is there a Fault status page - I tried this on another mac cant do it there either. Is there another location to get these Widgets I am thinking perhaps Apple is down? Longshot but other ideas are welcome.

For whatever widget you want, just click on the "Company: ?????" name on the right hand side for that particular widget.

Get app.preferencesFolder, Folder.userData or similar in html widget (CS5)

I want to find the path to a writable location inside a html widget, preferrably the path pointed to by app.preferencesFolder or Folder.userData. The current user's home directory could also work.
Is there a way to communicate these paths back to the panel (without running as administrator)?
As a workaround, would it be possible to have Extension Manager write that path to a file in the assets folder (which would be readable from the panel...)?
Note: that my question is for Photoshop CS5. I know how to get return values with Configurator 4.
All ideas are welcome. Cheers.

Windows desktop gadgets has stopped working

As of a few days ago my desktop gadgets have stopped working. When I start Windows they appear to function normally for a minute or so then the error message "Windows desktop gadgets has stopped working" appears. Sometimes there is a second attmept to launch the gadgets but it fails in the same manner.
Worryingly for the general robustness of Windows 7, performing a System Restore to a time before the problem arose did NOT fix the problem.

I have found this solution and worked perfectly for me, you might want to try it out!

Is your Windows Sidebar (Windows Desktop Gadgets) crashing after adding a third-party gadget, with the error "Windows Desktop Gadgets has stopped working" or "Windows
Sidebar has stopped working" (Windows Vista) at every start? You can stop the offending gadget from loading by editing the Windows Sidebar Gadgets settings file. Here are the instructions, which apply to Windows 7 and Windows Vista.
If Sidebar.exe process is running, you wouldn’t be able to write to its settings file. Launch Task Manager (taskmgr.exe), select the sidebar.exe process and terminate it if it’s running.
Click Start, type the following path in the Search box and hit ENTER.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar
(You can type it in the Run dialog as well.)
The above location is where the desktop gadgets store their configuration information, in a file named Settings.ini
First, make a copy of Settings.ini
Double-click Settings.ini to open it in Notepad.
Configuration information for the last installed desktop gadget is usually located at the end of the INI file. Using the PrivateSetting_GadgetName line as the hint, locate the corresponding [Section #], select all lines underneath
and delete it. Trim any blank lines that may have resulted from the deletion.
Then, move to the top of the INI file, and delete the Section# line that references the offending gadget. As you’ve removed the entries in [Section 5], also delete the following line:
Section4="5"
Trim any blank lines that may have resulted from the deletion, and save the Settings.ini file.
Right-click on the Desktop, and click Gadgets. This starts the Sidebar.exe process and shows the gadgets listed in the Settings.ini file.

Restoring a Web Clip Widget using Time Machine?

I accidentally clicked the checkbox in the Dashboard Widget Manager for Webclip... Voila!, my 2 weather widgets I had painstakingly created (searched multiple sites to find right content) were gone. And the Webclip help questions tell me I have to recreate it again...
Well, what good is Time Machine if I can't find and restore my 2 Webclip-created weather widgets?

They are located here:
~/Library/Preferences/widget-com.apple.widget.web-clip.plist
So if you were looking in that folder you'd be able to find the file there. You would loose all the widgets you made after the date you 'roll back' to though. I don't yet know of a way to edit that plist file safely, but I expect someone will figure out a way to do that.

Whats Wrong With My Weather Widget?!...

I have two users on my PB, the second users weather widget works fine.
I've tried copying that on over with no luck - I've deleted the dashboard plist file with no luck...
...anyone with any idea on how to fix this?...

I've got the same problem! It affects all apple widgets... but not any 3rd party ones I've downloaded. It's a real pain.
Perhaps the widget files (located in HD>Library>Widgets) have something wrong with them? But if the widgets work in one user and not in another, then that can't be the case. :-S

Getting Houston weather on the weather widget

I want to get the dashboard to show me weather in Houston, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that. Can someone give me a clue?

A slight modification suggested to William's procedure:
In the "City, State or Zip Code" field, type your Zip Code and press Return. After a moment, it will change from the Zip Code you typed to your exact city and state. Then click Done.
Sometimes typing City/State or Zip without pressing Return does not find the correct location. Typing Zip Code, pressing Return, then clicking Done after the correct city displays is the most reliable method for setting the location of the Weather widget.

Weather widget issue

Having a little issue with the S5, when arriving at a new location I refresh the widget, and the location will be slightly off, then I refresh again it gets it right, I have set to high accuracy, my wife has same phone, have seen hers do the exact same thing, I have downloaded other widgets from google play, they all do it, seems like it only happens at certain spots, arriving at work and other random locations, so its not the phone, its not the widget, can somebody expiain what the heck is going on? I upgraded from the S3, it was usually accurate, called Verizon, they had no clue, Im stumped.

When I use my weather it usually pulls Data out of major City Wichita.. I can tap Google and ask and it will say the currents for were I live but when using and App called My-Cast it shows Data from a small un-corporated city but I have my Phone set on High for GPS not battery saving.. it seems to help when Traveling.. Its also a good thing to keep any weather apps updated and One weather App I use Highly since we live in Tornado Ville is.. List below..

How to change default weather in Yosemite Notification Center

Hi,
I just moved from one city to another, but the default weather Notification in the new Center still shows my old city. I have been trying to change this by going to the dashboard and changing the city from there, but the changes are not reflected. I have not figured out how to perform this modification.

Hi robolivares, I had similar issue. This resolved it for me:
open Systeme Preferences on your Mac
Security & Privacy tab
Privacy tab
On the right hand side you can see which apps are allowed to access your location
uncheck and recheck the box next to the weather
You should now see your current location in the weather widget in your notifications.

When I open Firefox there is absolutely no toolbar at the top. No 'File' 'Edit' 'View' 'Favorites' 'Tools' 'Help' buttons, no anything. Any idea's??

When I open Firefox there is no toolbar at all. I have tried deleting and then re-downloading it, but when I click on the icon on my desktop, all that comes up is a page that says "Widgets, Gadgets, RSS feeds, and more." There is no search box to surf the web, there is nothing.

Error 18 backing up

The HD of my MacBook Pro crashed and is replaced.
I renamed the new internal HD to the old name and restored the content from a copy clone backup.
Time Machine sees all the backups made before the crash.
But TM can't make new backups to the same location. The TM widget says
Starting standard backup
Volume at path /Volumes/Time Machine Backups does not appear to be the correct backup volume for this computer. (Cookies do not match)
Backup failed with error: 18
Is there a way to urge TM to accept this as the correct backup volume?

You may not want to do this.
TM's next backup will be a full one -- every file and folder you just restored. There's no way to prevent it.
So unless your TM drive/partition is at least 2.5 times the size of the data on your internal HD, you need to just erase the TM drive/partition and let TM start fresh.

How to make a button appear on every slide.

I am a new user with Captivate 4. This seems like a silly question, but I haven't been able to find it asked before (except for Captivate 2) and can't figure it out on my own.
In my project, I will not be recording software--I'll be doing an e-learning with activities like quizzes and branching. I do not want it to run like a movie--I want a forward and back button on each page that user clicks to go through the module. I figured out how to get rid of the play bar but how do I make a forward and back button appear on each page? Or do I have to do that myself by cutting and pasting?

Hi there
One way is to insert two buttons on one slide. Program one to go to the previous slide and the other to go to the next slide when clicked. Then you copy the buttons, select all the other slides and paste.
The other way is to use the Perpetual Buttons Widget supplied by Captivate. Click Window > Widget, then locate and insert the widget on the first slide where you want the buttons to appear. Configure the widget to display for the rest of the project.
