Location of trace logs

Hi,
Can any one tell where the trace logs,audits etc are stored in content server's file system
Thanks in advance
Amit

Content Server logs are written to:
<cs_dir>/weblayout/groups/secure/logs and are named IdcLog01.htm - IdcLog30.htm. The file IdcnLog.htm keeps track of the log number to date relationship and is the page the web GUI resolves to.
Archiver logs are written to:
<cs_dir>/weblayout/groups/secure/logs/archiver and are named ArchiveLog01.htm - ArchiveLog30.htm. The file ArchiveLnLog.htm keeps track of the log number to date relationship and is the page the web GUI resolves to.
Verity log is written to:
<cs_dir>/weblayout/groups/secure/logs/verity and is called search.log. This log is a single text file and will grow as entries are written to it - this different behaviour is because this log file is created by the licensed Verity indexing application.
NOTE: By default the verity debug level is set to none - so no logs will be created. Verity debug levels are set in the repository manager indexer setup screen and can vary from verbose to all. Be aware that high levels of debug information from verity will create a very large log file very quickly. There will also be a processor and disk I/O overhead from the processing and writing of verbose log file entries.
Server output log is written to:
Windows:
<cs_dir>/bin/IdcServerNT.log if UseRedirectedOutput=true is set in the config.cfg file. This file should be purged occasionally as it can grow to a fairly large size. However this can be cleared form the admin server web GUI interface and should be checked regularly for major errors and warnings that are written to the file.
Unix:
<cs_dir>/etc/log regardless of whether or not UseRedirectedOutput=true is set.
Web Server Filter logs:
Windows:
<cs_dir>/idcplg/idc_cgi_isapi-<instance>.dll.log
Unix:
<cs_dir>/data/users/authfilter.log
These are accessed through the Filter Administration link from the administration page. Options can be set from here and the filter viewed and output cleared. Because this is primarily a debugging tool, it is not normal practice to save or archive these logs. There is also substantial performance overhead involved with writing these logs, so they should not be left running in normal production mode.

  • Windows Server 2012r2 Failover Cluster Event Trace Log files

    Hi
    The only documentation I can find regarding event trace log files (Diagnostic.etl.*) for Failover Clustering relate to Server 2008/2008r2, which state that the etl files should be in C:\Windows\System32\winevt\Logs.
    I have been exploring a clustering lab for Server 2012r2 and cannot find these files in that folder.
    Strangely the PS cmdlet Get-ClusterLog still works!
    Where are the etl files?
    TIA

    Hi,
    Please check if the log is available in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportQueue\.
    If not, you can use Get-ClusterLog with the Destination parameter to get the log file.
    Destination
    Specifies the location to copy the cluster log(s) to. To copy to the current folder use "-Destination ." for this parameter.

  • JDBC adapter trace logs

    We turned on the trace in visual administration tool for JDBC adapter thro' VA>Service>Log configuration>>locations>>com>>sap>>aii>>adapter>>JDBC.
    Where should I look in visual adminitration tool for the trace log for JDBC adapter?
    We are using Acknowledgment=Transport in Asynchonous "SEND" step of BPM to receive acknowlegement of updating database.
    It is updating database but in Tcode-SXMB_MONI, Ack Status = ? "still waiting acknowledgement"
    Can someone please help me to figure out where should I look for JDBC logs and why we are not able to receive acknowlegement?

    Hi,
    - log on to the Visual Administrator
    - start service - Log Viewer
    - cluster -> server -> logs
    - choose defaultTrace.trc
    did you set tracing level to debug for JDBC adapter..

  • Diff bteween trace,log and audit log

    Diff bteween trace,log and audit log....?
    Harsha

    Hi,
    Audit Log :The adapter engine uses the messaging system to log the messages at every stage, This log is called the Audit Log.
    The audit log can be viewed from the runtime work bench(RWB) to look into the details of the life cycle of the message. During our journey we will also have a look at the messages that are logged at different stages.
    Audit logs are mainly used to trace our messages. In case of any failures, we can easily trace where message stands. we can give the entries for the logs in UDFs, custom modules etc..
    Audit logs are generally gives us the sequence of the steps from where the message is picked up with file name and path and how the message is sent to the I.E pipeline..it also shows the status of the message like DLNG,DLVD like that...generally we look into the audit logs if there are any errors in message processing...
    It gives the complete log of your message.
    Go to RWB --> Component Monitoring --> Adapter Engine --> Communication channel Monitoring --> Select the Communicatin channel --> click on use filter --> then click on the Message Id.
    Trace Log:
    Log file:
    A log file contains generally intelligible information for system administrators. The information is sorted by categories and is used for system monitoring. Problem sources or critical information about the status of the system are logged in this file. If error messages occur, you can determine the software component that has caused the error using the location. If the log message does not provide enough details to eliminate the problem, you can find more detailed information about the error in the trace file.
    The log file is located in the file system under
    "/usr/sap/SID/instance/j2ee/cluster/server[N]/log/applications.[n].log" for every N server node.
    Access the file with the log viewer service of the J2EE visual administrator or with the standalone log viewer.
    Trace file:
    A trace file contains detailed information for developers. This information can be very cryptic and extensive. It is sorted by location, which means by software packages in the Java environment, for example, "com.sap.aii.af". The trace file is used to analyze runtime errors. By setting a specific trace level for specific locations, you can analyze the behavior of individual code segments on class and method level. The file should be analyzed by SAP developers or experienced administrators.
    The trace file is located in the file system under
    "/usr/sap/SID/instance/j2ee/cluster/server[N]/log/defaultTrace.[x].trc" for each N server node.
    Access the file with the log viewer service of the J2EE visual administrator or with the standalone log viewer.

    Edited by: user10243788 on Apr 25, 2010 6:12 AMPointing the archive log dest (and/or the FRA) to a new location, or enlarging them, will do no good if you are not performing regular housekeeping on the archivelogs. You will just keep knocking down the same problem over and over.
    If you simply delete the archivelogs at the OS level, the database will never know about it and it will continue to think the destination is full, based on records kept in the control file.
    For regular housekeeping, you need to be doing something similar to this in rman:
    run {
      backup archivelog all not backed up 1 times tag='bkup_vlnxora1_arch';
      delete noprompt archivelog all backed up 1 times to device type disk;
    run {
    delete noprompt obsolete;
    crosscheck archivelog all;
    delete noprompt expired archivelog all;

  • OS commands from File adapter Trace logs?

    Hi All,
    I am running some UNIX OS commands from File adapter as showing in below Blog.
    Problem is that in SXMB_MONI & in Runtime workbench I can not see any Trace logs written by those UNIX OS commands.
    Even I am writing echo messages.
    Runtime Workbench says only OS command file executed.
    Please guide me where I can see OS trace if some OS command fails?
    Any transaction code even at BASIS level exist?
    Or the only other way round exist is I need to write log into some files.

    I think no solution, other then writing ABAP code using RFC SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE and put log/trace in some table/application.

  • How to trace Logs for WebService connectivity - 3rd Party to ECC

    Hi Experts,
    Basically it's a simple scenario, the 3rd party will send a soap request with the information in it and wiill be sent to ECC and be written on a table.
    I'm wondering on how to trace logs on the soap request sent from 3rd party to an ECC environment. I used Altova XMLSpy and soapUI and  to create a soap request from wsdl created in SOAMANAGER. Both of the software returns a response. Do these both of these software really sends data (soap request) going to the binded address or it's just i simulation that wsdl created is valid.
    Cheers,
    R-jay

    Hello,
    These third party tools send web service requests to SAP system. You can trace Service invocation and download the request and response payloads using SOAMANAGER. In Logs and Trace tab,  edit the Trace configuration with suitable trace level and expiration time.
    Thanks,

  • No clarity on location of archive logs in Oracle 11g database

    I have this query which I am not able to resolve. There is one location of archive log mentioned as /oraarch/app/oracle/oradata/snlprod/archive_logs/ in the parameter log_archive_dest_1. But the archive logs are showing in another location /orabackup/rman/snlprod/archive_logs. I am wondering how the archive logs are showing in this location, /orabackup/rman/snlprod/archive_logs.
    I guess there is only one way in which location can be given which is seen from Availability->Recovery Settings->Media Recovery.
    I hope, my question is clear.
    Please revert with the reply to my query.
    Regards

    Must be
    show parameter db_recovery_file_dest
    If you want archived redo log send to /oraarch/app/oracle/oradata/snlprod/archive_logs
    then you must set  log_archive_dest_1 ='LOCATION= /oraarch/app/oracle/oradata/snlprod/archive_logs'
    log_archive_dest_1 is same before then it means your all  archvied redo log file will create in this directory

  • R12 12.0.4, System Administration, Debug, trace, log enabled monitoring

    Hi guys,
    I posted the same question with oracle.ittoolbox few days back and yet to get an answer. During the initial stages of implementation, I remember the consultants using a particular jsp/html page under System Administrator responsibility to view the status of diag, trace, log enabled status of the system, akka, if a profile option is enabled to debug, trace, or log was listed...
    Now, I want to access the same page (I have system administrator resp). The SQL query provided by metalink is too complex to understand
    Please help

    Hello again Hussein and others
    Our issue was NOT just with FND% profiles, rather with the consultants turning on diag and debug against their respective modules and later forgetting to turn them off. Take our case, we had SLA Debug enabled from last 2010 Feb until two days back, which has created 21 million rows of data with XLA diag table :)
    Once after turning the SLA debug and truncating the table (following Oracle guidelines) we have a database which is 1/3 of the size until recent times. Oracle has provided us an SQL query which produces the present status of all profiles with latest values (enabled or disabled). We were able to see a number of profiles with debug enabled and successfully disabled them.
    I represent the internal IT team and always have the acceptance for human errors like the SLA debug event. Oracle "apologized" for not having a screen or html form for monitoring such resource hungry activities. The output from the SQL script they provided is too complex for a person who doesn't have core techno functional knowledge about the system.
    Anyway, finally feeling a bit better...
    Thanks guys

  • About a trace log level of Oracle VSS Writer.

    I verified the backup using the Oracle VSS Writer of Oracle11gR2.
    In order to check the behavior of the Oracle VSS Writer, I want to output the trace log of Oracle VSS Writer.
    However, there is the following description in the document, there is no description of the trace level.
    oravssw SID [/tl trace_level]
    /tl :Specifies the trace level for a Oracle VSS writer for a specified SID.
    Does somebody know the value?

    I'm not sure whether any version of Oracle -and you don't mention which 4 digit version you are using - is certified against Windows 2012.
    So whatever hack you apply, for sure My Oracle Support will not be able to deal with any issues which may arise from this.
    I'm sure you are aware Microsoft has a very bad track record on downwards compatibility, so I recommend downgrading this system to a certified version of Windows.

    Hello,

    SQL>alter system set sql_trace=true;
    and I don't connect to it. But in udump folder've many trace log file.
    I don't understand!
    Help!

    All technical errors (lack of space, quota exceeded, primary key violations, etc,etc) will automatically result in a trace file in the udump directory. Not reading those trace files, and just worrying about the amount of space they take, is not what you should do, you should address the issues diagnosed in those trace files.
