Does anyone know which DC I can add as a Used DC, in NWDI, to access com.sap.portal.usermapping_api.jar?

Network location of NWDI

Hello,
We currently have a single network, a NWDI that is accessible from NWDS client for source control; and this NWDI manages our DEV, QAS and PRD J2EE servers for release and transport.
Due to security concerns, we need to separate our network into 2, one network for enterprise servers and one for development.
The enterprise network will be where the production system/servers reside, including our PRD SAP J2EE server.
The development network will be where the developers develop web dynpro applications using NWDS.
The issue now is how can one NWDI be used to provide DTR service in one network (development network), while providing transport services (enterprise network)?
One solution suggested is to 'swing' the NWDI from one network to another depending on what services is required of it. For check in/out of codes, it will reside in the development network. After building and during transport to PRD, it will be moved into the enterprise network so that it can talk to the PRD J2EE server.
In your opinion, will this work?

Well here is my opinion.
If there is absolutelly now routing between those 2 networks your options are very limited. Because I don,t see how you can move your DI into the other network expect changing the ip. hm.
In my opinion the better way to to this is by enabling routing between those 2 networks and secure the production environment by firewall. all you have to do then is to allow the DI to acces the sdm or deplyo controlers on oyur production environment. Limit it to the ip of the Di so no one else is albe to deplyo something.
In your DI, branch your development into 2 tracks. Use a development track where your dev and qa systems are configured and create a delivery track with your produciton ystem in it. connect this 2 tracks with a transport connection. if you are familier with nwdi security you can only allow few people to have transport right in your deliver track.
This is in my opinion the best way to seperate dev from production. if done right you can easily meet lots of SOA requironements with this setp

Broken image in case of transport via NWDI

I have a image file in a webdynpro application. I have placed it in the src -> mimes -> comps -> package folder.
When I deploy the application I can see the image on the application.
Now when I released the application from development to staging, the application works fine, but the image is not getting displayed. We get an 'X' mark in place of the image.
I checked the .ear file and extracted it. I can see the image file in the components-> package folder.
Also the .dcdef file of the application has the following:
 <folders>
 <source-folder>META-INF</source-folder>
 <source-folder>src/mimes</source-folder>
 <source-folder>src/configuration</source-folder>
 <package-folder>src/packages</package-folder>
 </folders
We are using EP 7.0 SP11 portal and NWDI to transport the applications.
Please let me know how to solve the broken image issue.

Hi Vibha,
Check if the image is added in the activity. You can check this way...
- Go to Development Configuration Perspective
- Expand the DC
- Navigate to the location where you image is added.
Here you can see if the image is added to repository or not by checking the icon. If you see a blue color Hut symbol on your image then its not yet added your DTR repository. You can right click on the image (DTR -> Add -> )and add to you an acitivity then check in and release it.

Error when creating DC in NWDI

Hello,
I've have a installed NWDI, created a track and the neccessary dependencies in SLD and IMPORTED all needed sca's.
I could now see my track in NWDS with all dependent SC's.
When I now try to create a new DC in my SC I got the following error:
Unable to sync local path "D:\Programme\CE711SP1_IDE\NWDS_WS.jdi\0\SCs\sap.com\MDM_MAT_PR\_comp\" from DTR. DTR client layer cannot locate the resource on the server. (VFS returned null as folder Item)
Any help will be appreciated.

I'm facing the same issue, we can connect to NWDI but when I try to create a DC in the track a similar error from the post 1 is retrieved:

We implemented NWDI on the same server as that of the portal.
(8GB RAM, 2.61 GHz AMD Opteron proc 285, Win 2003 OS)
A lot of space in <drive>:/usr is being utilised whenever I run the import in NWDI, so from time to time I will have to delete the log files to create space.
is there any place where I can default these log files to fall on a different drive location?
Also I learnt that CBS utilises lot of drive space during its operation and when I check the CBS service in Visual Admin
rootFolder is pointed to ./tem/CBS --> where is this located? I am unable to locate this?

The CBS can also point to C:/temp/CBS
I have enough space in C: drive so can I point the rootFolder to C:/temp/CBS, will this affect the development process that is going on now?

Yes it is possible to create distributed applications for Lync server
Regarding the services technically all the Lync services should be monitored since each of them is responsible of a certain workload. but the main service is the lync front end service that once it is stopped it will affect client sign-in.
regarding monitoring the network it depends on what is the traffic that you want to monitor

Error while defining dependencies in NWDI

I created a Product in the software catalog.
Also 2 components under it.
For one of them e.g. UTIL s/w component, I need to define dependencies.
There is a context drop down I get that is blank.
Also when I click on define prerequisite software component versions, I get a WD error:

Those files are available on market place, but what version of Ep are you using? because file names are different for EP6 and EP7,
Login to www.service.sap.com
1)Navigate to Downloads--> Additional Download Info
2)Expand SAP Support Package Stacks from the detailed navigation link.
3)Select SP Stack Download.
Select SP Stack SAP Netweaver04 (or 04s as per your requirement)
4)The new window shows the SAP NetWeaver 04 support package stack download. Enter the Target Stack as 16 (10/2005), Select Development and Enterprise Portal in the Usage Selection.
5)If the Check box Restrict according to Usage is ticked then the only those items selected in the Usage Selection criteria will be shown.
6) Click on Next Step.
Select
--> SAPDEVINF14 0-20000267.sca (JDI Online 6.40).
--> SAPBUILD14 0-20000950.sca (JDI Build tool 6.40 SP014).

These file names are for EP6 , you can get the files for EP7 here at this location only.

CBS: Creation of build location fails for Standalone Development Configuration

Hi experts,
We have an issue during setup of a Standalone development configuration in NWDI with CM Services. During saving the following error occurs:
"Unable to save development configuration: Unable to create build location "SPO" on build tool "http://qpmr-nw01.sap:50000" using user "NWDI_CMSADM" [DICONF_CREATEBUILDLOCATION]: CBS Server Error: Internal server error( internal code: INTERNAL_SERVER_ERROR)"
The trace logs contains additionally the following errors:
"FAILURE to unset the owner-buildspace property on workspaces for buildspace: SPO caused due to an exception. Invalid cookie domain .sap. This may cause problems during future creation of buildspaces for the workspaces associated with this buildspace. Manual unset may be required."

yes, that is what I was afraid of.
Let's try something else.
Surely the problem seems to be related to the domain that is using the string "sap".
Or at least this is what I can also see in the error message :Invalid cookie domain .sap.
Can you please try with IP ? Go to CMS Track Data, and specify the CBS and DTR URLs via IP.

Ideally you need course ADM225.
You need to install an NWDI system - Usage type DI.
This cannot be on your EP system as it will probably cause CMS lockouts amongst other things... SAP does not recommend it.
The full information on setup is in the online help in the J2EE Developers manual although this is a Basis task!
There is an install guide but it does not give enough to understand what you need to do. There are some important decisions to make first.
Embarking on NWDI is quite time consuming and expensive so make sure you need it.
The DI system is quite resource hungry and will be veeeery slow is RAM is short so size it right.
Developer config is a big decision point. They all want to have a local J2EE for testing om which is quite sensible but in reality that means 2 CPU's and 2GB RAM or more ofr each developer.
SLD / Namespace location is important
User roles and track configuration are also very important decisions.

Dictionary DC BUILD not working with CE 7.1 and 7.0 NWDI

Hi All,
we integrated our ce 7.1 in our existing NWDI environment. Everything works fine
except for the dictionary dc build.
The build process stops with an

CM Services stand alone (Unknown session NWDI and grey components in NWDS)

Hello.
We are trying to configure NWDI in portal 7.3 using the following document http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-14706 however when Im trying the syncrhonize step (page 22) it shows me an error HTTP 400 Unknown session wherever I click in the sync page.
I dont know if it's because of this missing step but when I import this in NWDS the dependencies are empty and when I try to create a develpment it shows me greyed components with the mistake ( Software component does not support this development component type. Required DCs are located in an SC that is not visible from the selected one.). If any more information needed please ask me.

Thank you !!! it seems that is solved now, it shows me some components good to go, eventhe less When I try to create a Wevdynpro it says "Support component (ACH) for vendor ''sap_com'' is required" Could it be because of some missing DC ?

What can be done?
Check in SLD if references from the developed SC to the found required SCs
exist. Create them if they are missing. . Update the corresponding track in CMS
by first syncing current dependencies from SLD to CMS ("Update CMS" in CMS UI
Landscape Configurator - Domain Data) and then adapting the track in "Track
Data" by using "Synchronize SC Dependencies" - "Show Software Components out of
sync with SLD", select all SCs shown as out of sync and press "Accept SLD
Definition" and then save the track. Switch to Transport Studio in CMS WebUI
and check in and import the corresponding SCA files. After that update the
development configuration in NWDS.

Problem configuring CAF / GP on NWDI

Hi expert,
I am newbie in using CAF and JDI. Currently I required to configure CAF / GP on NWDI and I have followed the steps recommended in "Installation Cookbook - Configure CAF / FP on NWDI 7.00".
I have also download the archives as listed below and imported them successfully to CMS:

However, as I try to import them to the Development System, the browser response with the status "Import failed" . I look at the log files, and saw something like this:

I have looked through the System SIC -> monitor, I released that there is appropriate version of SCA in the server. Does that explain the following error message ?

Even with that components, I have skipped the following steps
9) import the checked in archives into the Development system (which is unsuccessful)
10) import the checked in archives into the consolidated system
11) configure runtime systems in the track
12) import the development configuration
And I proceed to the steps Chandan has advised:
4. Now go to the NWDS and set the URL of server in Development Configuration perspective as per the doc.
5. Now Login through user id and password from NWDS.
6. select your track and import it.
In NWDS, I went on to locate my component in the tracks and want to create local Web Dynpro DC with the dependencies set. So I right click and select Create New DC... and sync it as Web Dynpro.
Then I encounter the following error:
Development Component Creation completed with some problems.
Reason:
some used DCs are not available locally,
you have to sync used DCs for this project.
I decided to sync the DCs by right click on the Used DCs folder and select Add Used DC...
From there I went on to select sap.com_SAP_JTECHS. As I expand the tree for this, there isn't any component for me to sync.
I cannot proceed if there is missing components and the components:

NWDI - Error on Activation : BuiltIn Type or Simple Type expected

Dear All,
I imported a DC from NWDI and made some changes. When i checked in the changes and clicked on Activate option, i got an error.
I figured out that certain files related to a simple type were not present on DTR.
Check this : Error while activating DC
However, when i tried to add these files to the DTR, the activity which I had used previously was not available in Open Activities. It had moved to Closed Activities.
So I created another activity and added the file to DTR successfully.
However, the above error still persists when I try to activate the first activity which has all the changes.

I think you have missed some of the things in the activity to add,
go to the DTR prespective, see anythin is in the home sysmbol, add that to new activity except the gen folder and classpath all those files in the below, other than that you can add all those to the acitivity and check in the same,

Changing Header details in B2B using NWDI

Hi !
We are trying to customise the logo of the B2B webshop using NWDI in version ECO ERP 7.0 but it seems all so complicated compared to ISA 4.0. ?showmodulename=true doesn't pull up the .jsp that has the B2B logo part. Using Firebug on Firefox, we found the stylesheet that holds the information as 'stylesheet_ge.css' However, this file is specific to different browsers and it's various versions, meaning that the change needs to be done on each stylesheet. However, those files never seem to appear on the NWDI as it sits under webContent -> mimes.
Do we need to change it on the server file directly not using NWDI ? Or is there another way to do this using NWDI ? Also, I seem to not have access to quite some files on NWDI. Am I missing anything ?

First check in your Java PErspective that do you have project crmtcwebappbase~sap.com created if not then go to Development Configuration PErspective expand SAP-SHRWEB SC Go to DC *crm/tc/web/appbase[sap.com] and right click on it and select create project.
Once you have created project then go to Java Perspective open project crmtcwebappbase~sap.com expand src/package now expand mimes open required style sheet. As you know you have to make changes in each style sheet for different browser.
find #header-appl .header-logo text in style sheet and update proper URL location for your client logo file. Save it and build EAR and deploy it and view it in proper browser for which you have change style sheet.
