Location service icon keeps appearing on iPhone4

I am not sure since which app i've installed, my iPhone4 keeps location service icon displays on the menu bar for ever.
I've quitted all background processes or restart the phone, but the icon is still there.
Is that because i enable find my phone?

This is how it's supposed to work, after you close the app using location services, the icon should be gone again.

My location indicator icon on the tool bar seems to blink on randomly even when I have not used any services.  Also when I do use a service I am not seeng the purple icon in the pricacy-location services appearing next to the recently used icon it seems to stay grey.  Any ideas?  Is this a bug perhaps?

I experience the same thing today.  After hanging up from a regular phone call, I noticed the location services icon showing on the status screen of my phone for a split second.  I always have my location services off.  I checked my privacy settings and there was no record of any program using the location services.  What is going on Apple?  I was in a familar and secure WiFi network.  Is location services secretly turning on thru wifi?

  • HT4528 I recently downloaded the newest software and now my Iphone 4s shows the location services Icon is on all the time.  How can I change this back to what we originally had or is there a fix for this?

When I downloaded the most recent software update the location services Icon showed up even thought I was not running any programs.  Is this something new and is it going to drain my battery?  This was not happening before the download.  I am told I have to just turn off the location services biut I do use them on a daily basis and it seems to be a pain to have to shut if off everytime.  Does anyone know how to fix this or am I just screwed until I upgrade the phone?

    Hi Avahhava,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
As a first step, I would suggest restarting and/or resetting the iPhone:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If you have tried those two things, refer to page 146 in the iPhone User Guide to Reset All Settings:

That is what Activation Lock of iOS 7 does
In addition, it renders the iPhone totally useless to anyone who doesn't know your Apple ID and password.

  • My sound icon keeps appearing on screen and turning itself up

My sound icon keeps appearing on screen and turning itself up

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Lock icon keeps appearing

the lock icon keeps appearing even if im not texting, calling or using the internet

Well jimmy. My present network doesn't show that, but lemme try to explain. Its just somehow refers to an unsecure connection voice and data connection.
Like in secure connections, there's a padlock. Here, the padlock isn't locked, instead its locking lever is turned to the other side indicating an unsecured connection. That's all it is.
Keypad lock is usually a key symbol instead of a padlock.

  • After turning off Location Services, Safari keeps saying to turn back on

I turn off "Location Services" often to save battery power, and at night I often turn on "Airplane Mode", (which I must say is most convenient to turn all radios, (GPS, Bluetooth, Phone, Wifi, Push), at once. However, Safari continues to often send a pop up saying, "turn on location services to allow "safari" to determine your location". Not only is this pop up annoying, but I often listen to several of the rainmaker apps as I fall asleep and this notification continously shuts down my rainmaker app. I have tried to find a way to stop Safari from doing this but am getting no where. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a way to stop Safari from sending repeated prompts? This has always happened but is happening more so since using Google Latitude, which I do have completely turned off and signed out of. Thanks

Cannot see why Safari is bugging you. 1) it is closed thus shouldn't be needing anything since apps don't run in the background. 2) Safari shouldn't ask for your location (unless specific page is asking).
I'd say reboot as it sounds like something is stuck in memory.
    A reset/reboot is:
    Go to Home Screen
    Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
    Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't let go to slide, just keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
    Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.

  • Missing location services icon from the first page (ios 6)

Everything was fine after upgrading to ios 6, but after I used the cellular data the location services disappeared from the first page of settings instead appeared personal hotspot. This is normal or this is a bug and how can I restore everything as it was?

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner!  Thanks so much Steve A.  Double tapping the Home button does toggle the player controls on and off from the lock screen.
I was hoping it would be something simple like that.
Just wondering, is that functionality explained somewhere?  As I wrote in my first post I did several searches to come up with a fix or explanation for this issue.
    Cheers.

  • Location Services icon comes on frequently, iOS6 / iPhone 5 ...

I see it come on often, for no apparent reason. But usually goes off again after a few seconds.
Seems to happen nearly every time I press the round hardware button to wake-up the phone.
I've disabled location services for all but a few apps that obviously need it, and none of them are running now. And I've even disabled LS for most system services.
I've restarted the phone with no apparent change. I don't recall this behavior with the 4S on iOS 5.x.
    Any ideas or guesses?
    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

Interesting. I think I might have found the culprit. Looks like it was the iOS6 Passport app.
Looking back I updated the Starbucks app a few days ago. At the time it asked me if I wanted to sync it with Passport. I said "sure." And the LS icon has been coming on frequently ever since, even though Passport wasn't technically running.
I turned off LS for the Passport app and haven't seen the behavior since.
    Lesson learned.  ;-)

  • Call Forward icon keeps appearing, here's the solution

Do you keep getting the Call Forward icon appearing everytime you switch your iPhone on? This is the icon:  If you do then following the below should solve it. Firstly dial 1760 to switch off your voicemail. Now dial 1750 to switch voicmail back on and use the below divert codes to setup your voicemail to take messages in the following instances (depending on your preference). Not reachable (For example when the phone is switched off or out of signal/service)
    To activate= **62*901#
    To cancel= ##62#
To check status= *#62#  Busy (For example when your engaged on another call, or you reject an incoming call)
    To activate= **67*901#
    To cancel= ##67#
To check status= *#67#  No Reply
    To activate= **61*901*11* number of seconds #
The *11* only needs to be entered if you wish to set the length of time the phone rings before diverting to voicemail. The standard ring time is 30 seconds but you can have anything from 5 seconds to 30 seconds (in increments of 5) by using the *11* method.  To cancel##61# To check status
*#61#  After doing the above, you can then do the below to stop the Call Forwarding phone icon appearing when the iPhone is switched on. 1: On your iPhone, go  into Settings/Phone.    2: Next touch Call Forwarding.  3: Next, switch Call Forwarding on. 4: You will now see "Forward to". Touch this and enter 901 (this is O2's voicemail number).    4a: Once you have done this, touch the left pointing CALL FORWARDING at the top left of the screen. 5: Now switch off Call Forwarding.   You should now not see the Call Forward icon appearing. I can confirm that I had the Call Forwarding icon appearing everytime I switched my iPhone on, and I managed to get rid of it by doing what I have mentioned above.  Leonard or Toby. Could you sticky this post so that its going to be easy for people with the same issue to spot this post more easily. Thanks

  • HT1975 How can I reset the gray location services icon that apears next to the app that used my location services in the past 24 hours? Or better yet is there a way to track how many times it's been doing it in the past 24 hours?

My boyfriend likes to check up on me by using find my iPhone app. Sometimes I feel he goes overboard and would like to know how often he is watching me. The gray icon is always there because he watches me every day, but if there is a way to reset it do that I can check it time after time and see if he watched me again since the last time I checked. Or is there a way or an app that tracks how many times a devise has been tracked? I don't want to change my password because I like knowing that if I get lost in the woods he would find me :)) I just want to know his often he is watching me.

Understood.  However, the point that I'm trying to make is that it's not the WiFi access point's security that's in question, it's having your phone's WiFi in an always-on mode that's in question.  It's simple: if your phone's WiFi is on, then it is both discoverable and hackable... even when it's not connected to a WiFi network or access point.  Here's an article about a drone in London that was created to hack smartphone WiFi signals (and hackers have been doing what this drone does for years):
    http://money.cnn.com/2014/03/20/technology/security/drone-phone/
The point is that it's not  secure to have your phone's WiFi in an always-on mode.  It would be better for privacy and security if Apple made WiFi location aware so that it is only enabled when you are at a trusted location (e.g. your home or office).  Or, at least give us the option of location aware WiFi so that each user can determine the best mode for their phone:
    (1) Always-On (current default - not secure and many privacy issues).
    (2) Trusted mode (only on at trusted locations).
    (3) Off.

  • Why do these icons keep appearing in my clipboard?

I have Windows 7 Home Premium on an Inspiron 1520 and Adobe Design Standards CS4. I have a gadget on the side of my desktop called Clipboard Manager where I can see things I have currently or recently copied to clipboard. Every so often, these three icons show up in the list for seemingly no reason at all, typically twice in a row.
I don't really use the Contribute program in my creative suite, but that is unmistakably the Contribute icon. Does anyone know what causes these icons to keep occasionally get copied to the clipboard? is it something I do without realizing it results in this, or is it some background program action I'm not supposed to notice but am anyway thanks to the clipboard gadget?

Is your email settings set to keep messages on the server? I have a gmail account and it does that to mine. Gmail is very glitchy with the Mail app

  • AirPlay icon keeps appearing in menu bar even though no devices are available

I've been experiencing this issue on my 2014 MacBook Air ever since I upgraded to Yosemite.
The AirPlay icon will randomly pop up in the menu bar and when I click on it, there are no AirPlay devices detected (which means the icon should have never popped up in the first place).
The frequency in which this occurs appears to be completely random. Sometimes it will go a week or two between occurrences and other times it will pop up several times a day. Over the last week, it's been popping up every day (what finally prompted me to make this post).
I've tried disabling both wireless and Bluetooth when the icon appears and it doesn't seem to have any effect.
This is starting to get really annoying. There's always that little part of me that's worried about somebody seeing me type in my credit card info or something.
Anyway, has anybody else experienced this? If this is some sort of bug, is Apple aware of it? Is there any way to just disable AirPlay altogether?
    Thanks

    Hello,
your file is probably corrupted. If you do not have a backup of this file, and if https://discussions.apple.com/message/16132821#16132821 does not help ; you can send your file to me, I will try to see if there is a chance to open it or if it is definitively lost...
