Location services blocked by firewall

Hi,
I have an ipad 4 (iOS 7) in which i am using location services to track. I am using the wireless network at my work office which is firewalled. How do i configure the ipad so that i can see it on location services? I have already added the proxy settings into the wireless settings and can access external websites etc but still cannot see this ipad on location services, it just shows as Offline. I have ensured location services is turned on on the ipad and all restrictions are off. Is there anything else that i can attempt?
Thanks

Let's back up. What do you mean when you say you want your ipad to work "so that i can see it on location services?" Are you talking about Find My iPad?
Location Services is a sub system that allows applications to access location data. Having it turned on has nothing to do with tracking your iPad. In order to do so, you need to associate the iPad with your Apple ID.
If you haven't already done that, follow these instructions.

  • My Iphone has been Stolen. Location services off and blocked by 'Orange' network...anything else I can do to get it back or find it?

My iphone has been stolen. I unfortunatley did not have 'Find my iPhone' (I do now!), location services were turned off and Orange has blocked the sim & phone. Is there anythinig else I can do to track down my iPhone or atleast ruin the device for the culprits who stole it?

    You're welcome.
A "black list" is the term used for a carrier preventing a cell phone that is reported lost or stolen by the owner from being activated with the carrier. Yes it is a legiitimate thing that some carriers provide but not all. Contact Orange and inquire if they do.

    Hi Michael,
The above errors indicate the following two things:
    1. An existing service is using port 64337.
    2. Port 64337 is blocked by firewall.
I recommend you use the commands below to check if port 64337 is used by a program.
    netstat -aon | findstr "64337"
    tasklist | findstr "64337"
What's more, here is a thread for your reference.

  • Location services shows wrong location

I have an iPhone 5 with latest iOS. I live in Kennesaw GA. I installed xfinity Internet at my new home.
When my phone is connected to wifi, it shows the current location as charleston SC.   This is for any app that uses the GPS.
My wife has an iPhone 4S with latest iOS and her current location is correct when connected to wifi.
So I find it strange that my phone shows my current location as Charleston.
When I turn off the wifi, the current location is correct.
If anyone has experienced the same problem please respond.

    Improving GPS accuracy
GPS accuracy varies depending on the number of visible GPS satellites. Locating all visible satellites can take several minutes, with accuracy gradually increasing over time. Use these tips to improve GPS accuracy:
Ensure the date, time, and time zone are correctly set on the device in Settings > General > Date & Time. If possible, use Set Automatically.
Important: Incorrect settings on your computer can sync to your device. Verify the date, time, and time zone on any computer that syncs with your device.
    Restart your device.
Verify that you have a cellular or Wi-Fi network connection. This allows the Assisted GPS (A-GPS) on the device to locate visible GPS satellites faster, in addition to providing initial location information using the Wi-Fi or cellular networks.
Note: Microcells (sometimes called Femtocells) are not supported with Location Services.
Maintain a clear view of the horizon in several directions. Keep in mind that walls, vehicle roofs, tall buildings, mountains, and other obstructions can block line of sight to GPS satellites. When this occurs, your device will automatically use Wi-Fi or cellular networks to determine your position, until the GPS satellites are visible again.

  • Can't turn on reminder at a location with location services restriction.

I think I may have found a bug, or at least unintended functionality.
I have an iPhone 4s with iOS 5.  When I turn on location restrictions (Settings > General > Restrictions > Location > Don't Allow Changes -- note that in this list Reminders is set to ON, which means that location services is ENABLED for this app), then create a new reminder in the reminders app, then try to have it remind me at a location, the "At a Location" switch is disabled, not allowing me to create a reminder with a geofence alert.
When I change the setting to "Allow Changes", the "At a location" switch in Reminders is re-enabled.
Interesting thing is that it works just fine if I create a reminder at a location using Siri.
I'd like to be able to keep the "Don't Allow Changes" restriction on as, if my phone is stolen, I don't want people to be able to turn off location services, thus blocking Find My iPhone.
Anyone else can reproduce/confirmt hat this is a bug?

Hate to burst your bubble here, but all a thief has to do is turn your phone off to defeat "Find My Phone". This is common knowledge. Once turned off, a quick restore in iTunes & then listed on eBay or Graigslist.

  • IPod Touch location service doesnt work at all.

Hi guys, just having this issue, I have my iPod touch since 8 months ago, It worked fine, perfect. I upgrade it to iOS 5 and it worked fine, it was perfect.
But today the location service doesnt work, I triend with the google maps app, the Facebook and Twitter app and the location icon doesnt even appear in the screan, so I restart it and then I restore all the network configuration and the location warings, but the location service doesnt work.
I also tried to use Find my iPod on icloud.com but it says that couldn't locate it.
    Any idea?
    Thanks!

Hi Philly_Phan, Thanks for your help,
Today I went to my college and guess what? the location service was working perfectly again, but when I get home it didn't work, I was thinking about this:
I know iPod doesnt have a GPS, it use WiFi to find where you are, but, a week ago it was working fine at home, now it doesnt, the funny thing is that even if the iPod can not locate you, it should show the little location icon on the top of the screen. Dont you?
I mean, even if the iDevice can't find any know hotspot near, it should show the little icon. So, does the ipod connect to any server somewhere arround the world? or use any special port that maybe my router/ISP is blocking?
    Any idea?
    Thanks sooooo much!

  • Location Services just stopped working

So my problem is that I wasn't using location services really when I first got my iPad 2 but when I downloaded an app game it just stopped working. Facebook was able to locate me before and google maps as well. I've tried just about every troubleshooting advice I've seen in this forum. Resetting, hard restart etc. but I'm wondering now if there is a problem with my router since I don't use my iPad except when I'm at home. I don't know of an apple authorized dealer in Jamaica to fix this so if I can't solve it I'd have to send it to one in the US or if I travel there take it to one to be checked up. I don't know what to do next..but I really feel handicapped without the location services.
    What to do?

Have you tried taking it out in the open where it can access GPS satellites?
The buildings around you may be blocking the GPS satellities.

  • Omni Portlet - Web Service access outside firewall

    According to http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32110_01/webcenter.1013/b31074/jpsdg_portletconfig.htm#CEGECDBC
to access a web service outside the firewall we need to modify 'provider.xml'
From the JDEV HOME, I could see multiple 'provider.xml' files, Could some one help me with the exact 'provider.xml' file I need to modify and the entries to be modified.
note, we are using Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2.0
    Thanks,
    Kalyan.

    Hi Kalyan,
You can find provider.xml related to omniportlet at the following location.
    JDEV_HOME\jdev\extensions\oracle.adfp.seededoc4j.10.1.3.2.0\j2ee\home\applications\portalTools\omniPortlet\WEB-INF\providers\omniPortlet
We need to configure proxy here so as to enable omniportlet to access the websites outside the fire wall.
In Webcenter 10.1.3.2, we also have dependecy to configure webclipping proxy as well. So will have to do the same with webclipping's provider.xml too. You can find it at the following location.
    JDEV_HOME\jdev\extensions\oracle.adfp.seededoc4j.10.1.3.2.0\j2ee\home\applications\portalTools\webClipping\WEB-INF\providers\webClipping.
You will have to add the following in the provider.xml
    A) If you dont have any authentication for your proxy
    <proxyInfo class="oracle.portal.provider.v2.ProxyInformation">
    <httpProxyHost>Your_HOST_NAME</httpProxyHost>

  • Apple Location Services!

    Hello,
This is not a wild cry of anger about Location services such as iCloud, I think that they are brilliant, and that is exactly my point.
At the moment I am unable, however hard I try, to find my Mac Book Pro on iCloud when I am at home, presumably because apple have not got my MAC address or location information so that my Mac can talk to the mother ship and work out where it is.
It works perfectly at my place of employment, but not at home with my personal router.
    My Question is as follows:
Is there a service available for me to submit my MAC address and latitude/longitude co-ordinates to Apple, thereby allowing my home router to be recognised by location information softwares?
    Thanks for the help,
    4r1

    Ok.
So you are saying that the problem isn't with my router not being on the database, as I do live in a rural area and it is unlikely that a google vehicle has come here, instead you think that it is an issue with my router?
I was reading the link you posted regarding Back to My Mac, but that didn't seem to help me much. I can use all of the software described by that document (Screen Sharing, ssh, Network Printing, all network related things) so I'm not too sure what to make of it.
If my firewall is an issue, can I not just open up the required ports, or do some simple port forwarding. I also thought that my firewall isn't installed on the Router, but on my laptop, and I do not have issues with finding my location when on different networks, so that is also a little confusing.
Finally, what features would my router be required to support, to use location services?
    Thanks,
    4r1

  • HT5594 Why can I not turn location services on?

I know where it is at in location services. I went there and the ability to flip the switch to an on position is blocked. How do I fix this?  I restored the phone already and now I need to know a next step?

    Hello there, Coratower1.
Although the following Knowledge Base article is written for Wi-Fi, the troubleshooting steps would prove useful for your issue as well:
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim

  • How to calibrate location services

I just returned from a walk around the neighborhood.  During the walk I thought of two things I wanted to be reminded of and asked Siri (who lives inside my iPhone 5) to remind me of them when I got home.  She said she would.  But one reminder alarm went off almost a block from my house and the second one went off about 200 feet away from my house.  Is there any way to improve the calibration of whatever sensors or chips that Location Services uses so these alarms go off only when I really do get home?  That may be asking for too much.

If you cant find it there go to settings/general then restrictions and you might find you have restrictions on.  Tap on that enter your passcode and then down to location services.  Make sure allow changes is ticked or go down to the app that is asking for that service and turn on the service for that app

  • IPhone 6 location services/gps not working

Anyone else have an issue with iPhone 6 location services/gps not working? I have had it happen to me twice where it stopped working for good 7 or 8 hours and then all of sudden it starts working again. For example, directions don't work, every time I open Apple Maps it will say "Cannot determine location", then when I press the location icon on the bottom left, it will try to search again and have an approximate location but not exact, where as the iPad that I have right next to it is able to pin point the exact location. Sometimes the location circle is pulsing blue sometimes its gray. If I am driving and have tracking on it won't track, and so on.  I have tried to setup the phone as new without restoring the backup, when it stopped working with no luck, it still didn't work. I went and restore it back from backup and few hours later it started to work again. This has happened twice now since I got the phone last Friday.

Check your "Privacy" settings on your iPhone see what apps are using your location.

  • Left my phone in the movie theatre..what do I do? how do i contact location services?

I just left my phone in the movies...and now they are closed!  how do I contact location services to make sure it is still there?

If you were running iOS 5 or higher, had enabled iCloud and Find My iPhone before losing it, you can go to icloud.com on your computer and try to locate it as outlined here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f2442.  If it's turned on, still has Find My iPhone enabled, and has a connection to the internet, it should appear on the map.
If you didn't enable Find My iPhone before losing it you won't be able to locate it.

  • How do i use location service to ind my iphone?

how do i use location service to find my lost iphone?

Silica Gel usually comes in a porous bag within a perforated box. Put the bag and the phone in a ziplock bag together. If you buy loose silica gel just put it in the plastic bag, then put the phone on top of it. Try not to get the grains of silica gel in the openings on the phone, as it will be hard to get out.

You don't in the condition it's in. You will either have to get the phone replaced by Apple or pay a 3rd party to repair it.
there seriously should be more than two ways to solve this other wise apple is useless and we will never buy another apple product.
    Seriously? It's physically broken!
