Location Services screen appears to be frozen / locked

When I go to Location Services through Settings I am unable to use the "on/off" toggle.... it seems to be stuck on "on."  Further, the individual "on/off" toggles for my apps are also "stuck."  Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?
Thanks

Ha ha.....I answered my own question.... posting here for others benefit.
go to Settings>General>Restrictions and make sure you have "Enable Restrictions" turned on.

    MY location services screen has a haze over it which prevents me from using any of the slide switches, any suggestions?

    Quit the Settings app completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
    Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

    My screen appears to be frozen in as much as I cannot turn to portrait screen, anyone help ????

    If you see a lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen - then the screen orientation is locked.
    Try the side switch above the volume rocker first and see if that unlocks the screen. If that doesn't do it, swipe up from the bottom to get to the control center. The lock icon will be in the row at the top on the right
    If the screen is unlocked but still will not rotate, reset the iPad.

  • Just loaded ios7 update onto ipad 2 and screen appears to be frozen on i tunes. how do I unfreeze

    Just loaded recent update to IOS7 and the screen appears to be frozen with itunes logo and what appears to be the charger connection displayed. Is this normal and how do I get it unfrozen

    The display is telling you to connect the device to itunes, some error occurred and you'll need to restore from itunes.  If the device is really frozen, it can't connect to iTunes or do anything else, then reboot it...
    press and hold the home and power buttons until the Apple icon is displayed, then let go.

  • Uploaded new itunes upgrade and now some music can not be located. a screen appears and says you need to locate the songs in other folders. Any ideas? New upgrade sinks

    Hello
    just did the the new upgrade and now half of my songs are not playing. A screen appears and says you need to search for your music in folders. What the heck happen with this ? Anybody have any issues too?

    This happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
    Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
    Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Location service active when iPhone 5 is locked?

    Hey folks,
    I'm trying to keep my iPhone 5 battery lasting as long as possible (I've noticed a huge dip in battery life since iOS 7). I've turned off most of my location services, but everytime I lock my iPhone, something is using my location as the location logo is next to my battery level. The logo vanishes when I unlock the phone.
    Location services for weather is turned off and everything in my system services is turned off except Compass Calibration.
    Does anyone have an idea what is using my location?
    Thanks all!
    Tom.

    I had this problem too. Passbook seems to be the culprit. Try looking over at:

  • Downloading screen appears during app and locks screen

    In the middle of an app (New York Times crossword puzzle), the downloading icon appears and my system locks. I have to exit the app and close it. When I restart the app, the downloading icon goes away. Is this an app problem or an iPad Mini problem? Suggestions? Thanks

    Hello Gerald,
    Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with the New York Times Crosswords app (one of my personal favorites) on your iPad.
    I recommend following these steps for an issue like the one you described (you can skip 4 because it does not relate to the issue you are experiencing and any other steps you may have taken):
    If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
    If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
    If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
    If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
    If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
    Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
    If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
    If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
    If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
    Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
    If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
    If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
    If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

  • I am having difficulty updating my iphone apps. Living in Bermuda it keeps wanting to default to the Bermuda store, which does not exist. I turned off the location services which appears to solve this problem, but I use this function a lot so do not want

    I am having difficulty updating my iphone apps. Living in Bermuda it wants to default to a nonexistant Bermuda app store. I solved by turning off the location finder, but this is a function I use and need, and dont want the hassle of constantly switching back and forth. Is there a simple solution

    I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
    And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
    And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/

  • IOS 7 Location Services

    iPhone 5, iOS 7, no apps running in background, leave it locked for a bit. Press the Home button to check the time. The location services arrow appears at the upper-right corner momentarily and disappears.
    My question, what has changed in iOS 7 that makes my phone need to check my location just because I'm checking the time or just unlocking it?
    This is unnecessary battery drain. If there's no way to stop this, then it's also bad design.

    Thank you very much. Just about the time I got the notification of your response, I found it after some relentless, angry digging in Settings.

  • Problem with Location Services in Flight Mode

    Hi!
    Several times before it happened, that the Location Services symbol appeared in the status bar during Flight Mode and only disappeared several minutes after leaving Flight Mode. Up til now this never posed a problem as I usually plug in my Z10 over night.
    Yesterday before going to bed I had 30% left and thought, that this would be sufficient to survive the night and that i'll plug it in in the office. Alas, I was woken up at arround 6am by my phone turning itself off.
    When I looked at the Device Manager i found something quiet startling: During the whole time Flight Mode was active (approx. 23:00 - 0600), Location Services where active as well, draining the remaining 30% of battery. (See pictures)
    My Device is a Z10STL100-3, OS is 10.2.1.3175.
    No App was running nor was an Active Frame open.
    Does anyone have a clue, why this happened or what caused this? Anyone with similar experiences?
    And more important: how can i fix this?
    Kind regards,
    Uwe

    I saw a resemblance to a user in the Spanish forum mistake is perhaps as happens on the foursquare application was always working and location feature enabled.

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • Since IOS 7 downloaded the location services option is frozen
    Since the processor upgraded from IOS 5 to IOS 7, the location services option button is frozen. How can I unfreeze this?
    Hello sardarali,
    Thank you for providing so much detail about the issue you are experiencing with Location Services after upgrading to iOS 7.
    The first thing I recommend is quitting and relaunching the applications on your iPhone:
    Double-click the Home button.
    Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
    Swipe the app up to close it.
    You can find the full article here:
    iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    If you are still seeing the same issue after quitting and relaunching the apps on your iPhone, I recommend restarting your phone and then resetting if it's still not working:
    Restarting your device
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.
    Resetting your device
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    You can find the full article here:
    iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    If the issue persists, the last thing I recommend is backing up and restoring your iPhone:
