Location services seems to be tracking my stolen phone.

My "frequent location" service shows that I checked at South Kitsap Mall in Seattle suburbs on Tuesday.  I live in Chicago now, so obviously this is impossible!  My old 3G was stolen during a vehicle break in in Lynwood, WA In 2010.  I also have an extra option for a phone that I don't own in location services.  "Find My Friends" has this extra phone selected for my location, but I can't see my own location on it.  I'm waiting for a response from my wife to see if she sees me here or in Seattle.  I would like to lock that phone with the "Find my iPhone" app if possible! I wonder if that phone is jailbroken and in use, but ios8 is tracking the IMEI number?  Can I lock it from my account still?

Double check your restrictions for location service.

  • Location service seems cannot work

I'm using iPod Touch 4th gen. Just upgrade to iOs5. But the location service seems cannot work. I've enabled Location Services on setting, also connect to wi-fi network. I can browse the internet, but can not use maps to find my location. Neither on weather application. The local weather is failed to update. Also in facebook place or twitter, and camera apps, or anything that used location-based. The purple-arrow icon (usually appear to show that location service is working) is disappear on top bar. What can I do to enable this? Looking for help. Thank you very much.

For location the iPod uses the location of nearby wifi routers that are in Apple's database. You do not have to be connected to the network/router to use that router's location. Thus, it appears that the iPod can't see a nearby router that is in Apple's database. Apple continuously updated their database based on info they obtain from iPhones. No one has been able to find a way to inform Apple of a router or correct is location.
You can confirm that by going to place with a know located router like Starbucks or McDonalds

  • Location Services seems not turning off

Today I noticed that even when I turn off Location Services on my Iphone 4, that icon on the status bar still appears, like it's turned on. (all apps were closed)
    Someone could tell me why?

I'm not sure, but it might be related to "Find My iPhone" settings, because you can't turn it off from "Location Services", you turn it off from iCloud settings!

  • Can apple track a stolen phone with the imei number?

I'm hoping someone can answer this and help.  My iPhone 4 was stolen in transit to a buyer.  I am trying to figure out the best course of action to locate it, if that's possible.  Thanks!

Thanks, Karen + Michael.  This was a phone I had wiped clean and unlocked so I could sell it... so I personally cannot track it.  I was just hoping the IMEI number could be tracked by Apple.
Note to anyone else selling -- DON'T SELL TO RUSSIA!  What a mess.
Are you saying you didn't ship it insured...?

  • How to find and track a stolen iphone

i just got an iphone 5c (white) a little over a month ago on christmas. unfortunately yesterday it got STOLEN! when i left it on accident at a gas station where i was charging it. i came back 15 mins after i left to retrieve it and was NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. being a new apple user not knowing, i do not have the find my iphone app account nor do i have an icloud account or location services turned on. since it got stolen i called my phone company and turned off the phone.  i was wondering IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY TO TRACK MY IPHONE WITHOUT HAVING THESE TRACKING APPS OR ACCOUNT FOR ICLOUD??  anyway possible whether using a friends phone to track without an account or turning back on my phone or using my pc to track it. ect.  Anything!! will be much appreciative. HELPPP. thank you for your time.

No, there is no other way.

  • Can i use my ipod to help a friend locate stolen phone?

Can I use my Ipod to help a friend track a stolen phone?

If you have the find my iphone app on your ipod and you sign inot their account, and they set up find my iphone on the iphone, then you may be able to locate it.

  • HT4995 I cannot turn my location service off

  • Switching off location services disables cell service?

Is this right? If I switch off location services, I cannot send or receive cell phone calls. Basically switching off location services is the equivalent of putting my phone in airplane mode?
I'm using an iPhone 5 with the current iOS.
    Thanks.

No, it's not right. Turning off location services should not be the same thing as putting the device in Airplane mode. Airplane mode turns off all of the radios (wifi, cellular, BT and GPS). Turning off location services doesn't disable cellular or, rather, it shouldn't in a properly working phone. I'd start with the standard troubleshooting steps.
    Best of luck.

  • Siri-location services always on please help!!

On my iPhone 4s Siri has been on with location services enabled since I got it. Out of the blue the purple arrow next to my battery bar apeared and will not go away this means my phone is actively using location services which drains my battery faster . In settings it says Siri is the only thing actively using location services. How can I use location services without having the purple arrow constantly being there and only being there when I use Siri for something that requires location services

Ok that was a no go. But I previously had an issue where Siri couldn't connect to the network.  On another forum I found the fix which was to:
    1.  Turn Off Siri - Location Services (Settings > Location Services > Siri > Off
    2.  Reboot the phone
    3. Turn On Siri - Location Services
I did that just now and Siri has not used LS once.  Then again, I haven't tried the, "How do I get home" command with Siri yet.  It's a quick fix...for now.

  • HT1689 Can Apple track a stolen iphone 4?

I recently had my iphone stolen and I have it registered online. Is there any way to track a stolen phone through apple's website.

    Can they?  Possibly.
Will they... not a chance in heck.
Try a search or the more like the section.

  • If I restore my new iPhone from the back up of my old stolen one.. Will I still be able to track the stolen?

My iphone recently got stolen so I purchased a new one and plugged it into the computer and it gives me 2 options:
    1. Set up as new phone
    2. Restore from backup of "___'s phone"
If I restore it from the back up of my stolen phone, will I still be able to track the stolen phone still? Thanks

What I mean is still track my stolen one. I don't know if this will make sense to you but I'm thinking that if I restore the back up data on this phone..on my stolen phone it will like forget the icloud account or something and think this phone is the stolen one so when I go to track the stolen one, it will show that phone as the one I have now because I restored the back up from that phone.

  • Siri location services overenthusiasm?

I don't want to disable location services for Siri, but Siri keeps using it long after I've gotten what I wanted. Is there a setting I can change or something I can do to make it relax but not actually turn it off? If Siri were a real person I'd say, okay thank you--I'll call you when I need you again. But I definitely don't want to enable/disable all the time just to save some battery life.
    Thanks.
