LocationProvider (JSR 179) implementation for GPS on PC

Hello all,
Can any one direct me please to a LocationProvider implementation for windows of the JSR-179 location api.
it seems that each mobile device should have it's own implementation of the LocationProvider. what happens if my mobile device is an ordinary PC running Windows?
for that matter in need also an implementation for linux...
It seems so trivial, I just need an implementation that knows to read NMEA protocol out of a COM port....
it should be simple I feel that I'm missing something... I'm trying to find something for that last 24h and come in vain.

However, having said that, if you include the JSR 179 package in your JSE application for a PC, you can use the distance measurements etc that are packaged with the JSR179 package. It seems like overkill though, I am sure there are other open source packages out there that will provide the capability to measure distances between points, etc.
Basically, you will have to use streaming NMEA data on your serial port to aquire the GPS coordinates as the JSR179 spec is not meant to aquire GPS coordinates from a serial port.

JDBC API ( JSR 169 ) Implementation for accessing oracle lite database

We are developing an application using IBM J9 (CDC and Foundation Profile) on Pocket PC 2003 environment with SWT as the front end development. We are using Oracle Lite 9i as the Client database.
We have sucessfully installed Oracle Lite and was able to create tables in the database.. however we could not find the JDBC API (java.sql and javax.sql packages which is JSR 169 JDBC 2.0/3.0) inorder to load the JDBC driver(OLITE40.jar) and access the oracle Lite Database on Pocket PC.
IBM J9 Micro Environement does not have this support.
I am wondering if Oracle provides this implementation.
If not is there a get around.
the client database is crucial to the application and i would really appreciate an answer to our problem.

NoClassDefFoundError in JSR-179 code

Hello. I am testing some GPS capabilities on my 7100i Sprint/Nextel. Everytime I try to run my midlet on the device, I get the "NoClassDefFoundError". The 7100i is listed as implementing the JSR-179 spec, so I am at a loss.
I have tried getting the result of the System.getProperty("microedition.location.version") and it returns "1.0" as it should according to the spec. I have explicitly enabled permissions in the midlet for the .Location class.

Can anyone provide help on getting past this error?

I kept poking around on this and found that the .jar file did not include the .class files from the JSR-179 implementation. I manually added these to the preverification and recompiled and re ran on the device. Now I am getting "...attempts to access a secure API". It seems from that now I have to use the Blackberry/RIM digital signing process to gain access to this. Any additional comments on these topics are very welcome!

JSR 179 - GPS access - webApp?

If you have an GPS-phone with JSR-179 you can easily get the coordinates of where you are.
But if you dont want to get the coords when using a web-browser where you would like to input them, can you even do that?
(I am in control of the web page)

I have many problems, for example capture audio/video using j2me and transmit captured data via IP (RTP or UDP).
Someone says he has successful play audio/video using JMF (cross platform) AND J9 VM, but I am not successful on work JMF on the IBM J9.
all that on Pocket PC 2003.

You would need the wireless toolkit 2.5
It seems to be working in emulator but I don't have access to the proper device to test it and I have read that the mobile operator has to support this as well in order to work.

Anybody knows of a Mobile Operator that currently supports the J2ME Location API (JSR-179)?
I havent managed to find anyone so far.

It is very frustrating. From the info I have found so far, many operators do offer various APIs to get location information, but this works from a server application (passing the MSISDN to the network operator's location server), and not from the device itself. These require that you have some business relationship with that operator. For example, Orange provide a location API (http://www.orange.co.uk/thirdparty/location.html") , but you have to be an "Orange Partner premium member" and Orange have to approve your application. No word on whether they will migrate this service to support JSR-179.

I cannot get GPS Only to work on my ipad3 (4g version, but not on an active cell plan, and wifi off). Is there some new requirement in 7.1 or 7.1.1 to have cell and/or wifi enabled for GPS to work? I am testing with MotionX

Yes. tried the one ram stick, no go. I have been trying to boot off/install the windows 7 disk but am unable to get to the point where windows starts installing after its gathering information portion of the install. I can get to the disk selection screen of the install with the WD HD on SATA port 2 but then get the "cant install messages" when I try to select the Vertex 3. Yes I can see the Vertex 3 Drive as well as the WD drive at this point. some times I have to hit "scan" a couple of times.

There is a built in GPS and map function that provides basic navigation using Google Maps. It's hard to miss right there on the home screen. However, it is maunal; you have to tap "next" when you reach each waypoint, and it does not provide spoken directions. It also downloads maps in real time, so it can be slow if you have a slow data connection, and it uses a lot of data if you are on a limited data plan. It is excellent for walking and public transportation, less useful in a vehicle unless you have a navigator sitting in the car.
There are several commercial GPS apps that you can buy from the App Store, but no free ones. Just search the App Store for "GPS".

i have created new post.
SAP Fiori getting error message Check the URL parameters and the scenario definition. To check the scenario definition.
Scenario definition configuration screen short.

Problem in creating new implementation for filter dependent badi

Hi Experts,
I want to use badi NOTIF_EVENT_POST.It is a filter dependent badi. It is asking filter type while implementing thro se19. Could anyone pls tel me how to create new implementation for the filter dependent badi. Existing filter type is QMART. is there any problem if i change the filter type?

Hi ,
NOTIF_EVENT_POST is filter dependent and filter values are based on QMART value in table TQ80. You need to specify the filter value ie : QMART value before implimentation , before that check all active implimentations for the same , if u have to impliment on same filter value , you need to deactivate the one which is implimented on same filter value .
You are not supposed to change the filter type.

Configuring Kodo default implementation for field of Collection type

If I am not mistaken default implementation for field of Collection type in
Kodo is
LinkedList based proxy. It would be great if it were possible to configure
Kodo to use a proxy of my choosing
I did some tests and it seems to me that ArrayList is much more efficient
than Linked list (see below)
Is there any specific reason I am not aware of that makes LinkedList better
than array list
In my applications all collections a relatively small (or at least most of
my collections are definitely small)
and since I use Collection interface there is no inserts into middle of my
collections - only appends (which ArrayList handles very well)
So my question is can I make Kodo to use ArrayListProxy for fields of
Collection type
(except of course using ArrayList field instead of Collection which I do not
want to do)
below is some statistics on collection performance (populating and iterating
collections)
the same test against 3 collections implementations (JDK 1.4.1)
Not only ArrayList by far the fastest and memory friendly it also garbage
collected much sooner and better -
I show here max memory consumption and last to would not be garbage
collected till all memory is in use (old generation GC)
and ArrayList seems to be collected by young gen GC because it was collected
very quickly between test cycles why other only when all memory was used
So please make ArrayList your default collection implementation :-)
Small collection size (40)

the same but using using random inserts - append(index, object) rather than
append(object):

You should be able to accomplish this fairly easily by extending
SimpleProxyManager:

and overriding the appropriate methods (getCollectionCopy and
getCollectionProxy).
