"Lock" apps into the folders?

I've spent a lot of time organizing apps into folders for my students. Is there a way to lock them in place so that the students don't play "hide and seek" with them?

No, there isn't an app, and as iOS is a sandboxed OS third-parties won't be able to develop any apps that will be able to do it. You can hide some app via Settings > General > Restrictions.

How do I restore folders into the folders panel

I am new to LR and I am using LR3. I appear to be digging a massive hole for myself trying to sort out the catalog.
When I first got LR, I had initially added just a small number of files just to see how LR worked. At this time I was still completing sorting out my full photo collection in 'my pictures' which were also copied to two external hard drives. Once that work was completed, I imported a complete folder (some 4000 images) into LR. The folder/subfolders appeared in the folders panel but the sub folders I had initially imported were displayed with a ? and a message 'file is missing or offline' Going down the road of 'find missing folder' eventually led to my problems.
About 6 sub folders are involved so I eventually took the decision that it could be easier just to remove them so I could then re-import them from 'my pictures'. That hasn't worked out as planned.
When I go into 'file' to import photos from 'my pictures' the missing sub folders are there but the images are 'greyed' as well as the import button. When I put the cursor onto one of the greyed-out images the message 'appears to be a duplicate of another photo already in catalog' appears.
Can anyone advise me how I can restore the 'missing' sub folders into the folders panel.

If you've really removed them, then they shouldn't be showing up as duplicates.
If you have a mess and haven't done any real work inside Lightroom, I'd suggest starting a new catalog and importing fresh.

Locking apps on the iphone 4

Is there any way to lock apps on the iphone 4 to prevent them from being deleted. I have the findmyiphone app which is great, but some if someone steals my phone and delete this app i won't be able to track the phone to recover it. Any suggestions

Follow the instructions. That way no one can delete the app.

Locking apps on the dock?

is there a way to lock the apps to the doc? my kids keep accidentally dragging them off.

And if your kids have their own user accounts on your computer, you can use Parental Controls. There's an option to disallow users from modifying the Dock.

Sure you can. Tap and hold down on any app icon until all of the icons "jiggle". Then drag one icon on top of another icon and a folder will automatically be created. You can name the folder as you see fit, but the iPad will give it a name on its own, based on the type of apps that you first create the folder with.
When you are done - tap anywhere on the screen - other than in the folder itself - and then tap the home button and the apps will stop jiggling. You can put up to 20 apps into a folder.

Thanks, but impractical. Many of the folders have more than 500 emails. Total is about 2 GB (which I have free on iCloud btw)
I tried creating a folder "Archive" in my iCloud, then tried dragging one iMac folder into the new "iCloud > Archive" folder on my iMac. I got the error message:

Cannot download app into the iPhone but the same app can be downloaded into iPad

I have downloaded google search app into my iPad but i cannot download to my iphone. At the AppStore I can see google search app but it does not allow me to download it, i.e the download icon is grey.
Have removed the app from iTune library.

Unable to unzip files , unable to move apps into the app foldercant update

I cannot unzip files. Also if i try to install a new app by dragging it to the applications folder it says "that files already exists".
also if i try to update with software update it gives an error. i tried running verify disk permissions and repair disk permissions but this did nothing please help i am scared cuz my last time machine was along time ago.

What exactly does the dialog say when you try to drag a new app to the applications folder? Is it something like, "an older version of this already exists in this location, do you want to replace it with the version you are moving?"
And, what application are you attempting to use to unzip files?

Transfer videos from the "videos" app into the camera roll?

I have an Iphone 5. I want to send my friends some of the videos on my Iphone using whatsapp. The only problem I have is that whatsapp only allows me to send videos from tha Camera Roll. And I have the videos saved in the videos app in my Iphone.

I work in a school and have a 32 bay syncing, recharging cabinet. We are starting to get a lot of apps and need to orgaise them better. I know I can organise them into groups on an individual ipad but can I do this organisation in itunes and then sync this organisation to the 32 ipads in the cabinet.

Sorry did quick reply on your title. I'm not sure about iTunes. If you have them all attached to one apple I'd, then yo u can sync all of them the same up to 10 devices. Once you create one then you can sync the rest the same with the same folders. I'm not sure on how education works. You might be able to do more than 10 per id. I'm out of my league on that ?

I downloaded the ibooks app and it's in my itunes application library. I've synched several times, but the application is not being installed on my ipod touch (2nd generation, ios4.2). What do I need to do to get this installed?

In the Apps pane for the iPod in iTunes do you have the iBooks app checked so it will sync to the iPod?
Yu can also redownload the app directly to the iPod via the Store app.

You control what is in your dock. It hasn't changed, Press and hold an icon til they start to wiggle and then drag the icons you want to move. You can take any app you want to where ever you want rearange them on your home screen or move them to another screen or in and out of the dock.( tip : you can have an open space on your dock to use as a holder for moving apps from one screen to another.drag icon to dock flick to screen that you want to place icon then drage icon out to the new screen)
