Lock button iPhone 5

I'm having difficulties with the lock button on my iphone 5. it works when it feels like it. no warranty or insurance dont wanna pay the money to send it in.

The iPhone 5 is still under warranty. Call, AppleCare, take it to the Apple Store or call and Apple Authorized Service provider.

Inconsistent Lock Button - iPhone 5

The lock button on my iPhone 5 works intermittently. One time you press it and it works fine - locking the phone, turning off the screen, etc., then the next time I'll press it two, three, four times before I have any luck getting it to function. Keep me posted on the issue as it progresses compurhythm78. I've read on other websites I've found via Google search that people with this problem have taken it to the Genius Bar at the Apple store and they have replaced their phone with a new one as this is a common hardware problem with the iPhone 5. I wanted to make this post on here as this is more of a credible site to see if this problem would be covered under the warranty or if anyone knew how to fix it (if that's even possible). It's not like it's a huge problem with the phone, but I use the lock button quite often and it's just really annoying having to hit the button multiple times to get it function.

Sleep/Lock button iPhone 4

Bought the iPhone 4 like a month ago.
Great device but I just got this minor issue.
Been using the APPLE BUMPER on it and since a day or two the sleep/lock button has been stuck. I need to push it REALLY hard and then it'll work.
Already called my service provider (since Apple doesn't have any support overhere) and they told me that it's my own fault and they can fix it for 300 $ (that's 215 euro's for JUST A SLEEP/LOCK button).
Does anyone else had this problem also and what can I do about it?

See thread 2713539. You're by no means alone. Mine did it after about 7 months. It's not your fault, it's a fault with the iphone4 that Apple need to address and help their owners with. It's disgusting that owners are being charged for repairs. My understanding is that if it's within warranty, you can take it to an Apple Centre and it will be replaced with a refurbished unit immediately as there is no quick repair for this common design/manufacturing defect. I love my iphone but am not happy that outside warranty it seems you will be lucky if Apple don't just fob you off and make you pay for a hardware problem they know about but won't take liability for. I guess they're not making enough money.

Faulty On/Off/Lock button iPhone 5

My iPhone 5 on/off/lock button has started playing up. I sent it away to O2 for repairs but they claim it is due to physical damage (which I am pretty sure it is not) and are trying to charge me for this. I have since googled this fault and it appears to be pretty common and should be covered by the warranty. Anyone else had issues with this and have any advice?

Make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple Store.
IF there is any physical damage to the phone, cracked screen, etc. then the warranty is void. It doesn't matter what caused the lock button to fail, if the phone is damaged, it's not covered.

Apple handles this problem with Replacement iPhone 5. Make Genius reservation so you do not have a long wait. Until you get this resolved, try Virtual Lock Button, Settings App > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch > ON > tap new white screen button > Device > Lock Screen. This can even turn iPhone OFF. To turn iPhone ON connect to power, charger or USB port of computer.

Light coming from screen under lock button (iPhone 5)

I can see a sliver of light coming thru in a crevice between the screen and the metal band, right below the sleep/wake button. Anyone else see that?

Unresponsive Lock Button - iphone 5

HT1414 i downloaded the ios7, now i cant swipe to unlock my screen, when i go to itunes and click restore iphone it says i have to get into iphone and switch off location services, but i Cant as i am unable to unlock iphone. And my lock button is broken..

IF the device does NOT have a cracked screen or liquid damage and is in hardware warrenty.. apple can repair/replace the device for free.
Call apple tech to find out what your croverage is for fixing that button
IF IT DOES then you will pay a fee for repairing

Did you register the AppleCare+ plan at the time of purchase? If you didn't, even if you had the receipt, it's too late. It must be purchased and activated within 30 days of the initial purchase of the phone (it's usually done at the time of purchase). If Sprint didn't activate it at the time of sale, you can blame them. Apple doesn't control them.
