Lock custom content to itunes account?

How can I make content I create only playable with a computer authorized with my iTunes account?
Is it possible?

No. The iTunes DRM that you have heard of was only available thru the iTunes Store. If you don't want others playing the content, why not just keep the copies to yourself?

  • I have been locked out of my iTunes account. How do I unlock it?

Upon purchasing an album on iTunes, security questions were asked. I could not remember one of the questions and tried multiple times to get it right. I never did. Then, I was locked out of my iTunes account and cannot purchase anything. I remember the answer to the question now but it won't let me try to answer it anymore.

  • Changing country and you get locked out of your iTunes account?

    Hi All,
Can anyone help? I've sadly got nowhere with Apple sending just a cut and paste process that I've tried (and which fails to understand the point)
I have n itunes account set up in the UK. I've moved myself and my UK bank account address to the US and yet whatever I do I get the usual "your bank account number is no t a vlid bank account number" etc
    - Applecare say this is a common problem for expats and they cant help try the iTunes helpdesk
    - Itunes helpdesk is just an email address from cut and paste people who dont reply to specific problems (and customers)
    1. I dont want or see the need to change bank accounts just to continue my custom with Apple.
    2. As I am a UK ITunes customer. I HAVE to enter  a UK postcode  but I cant because my UK bank account is (of course) now a US ZIP code
    3. I shouldn't have to add a new (and unnecessarily confusing and tedious)  second iTunes account even if I *can* have "up to five accounts per device" - I have several Macs/Mac books, iPhones etc and I really dont want to turn what should be a simple financial relationship into a messy multiple account relationship. (I love Apple, believe it or not, so if Amazon can do it all with a single account and multiple devices (UK *OR* US) then so can Apple who are genyine experts in inventory management (since 1997)
    (its a case of I'm ****** if I do and ****** if I dont)
Any suggestions most welcome - I'm getting increasingly fed up that I cannot install apps on the iphone (or even update them!!) and add to that the fact that now I cant download apps via the fancy-schmancy appstore on my Macbook pro 2011 because... yes you guessed it, I'm stuck with the same iTunes store question (Before replying please see point 1 above before suggesting point 1) <wink>

  • Splitting content between iTunes accounts

Can I split my account? Basically, my daughter and I used my iTunes account. But now she is grown up and wants to have her own account. Can I make it so some songs go to her new account and some stay with me? Please help.

Unfortunately, no.  Items purchased in the iTunes Store are always associated with the account they are purchased under.

  • I've been locked out of my iTunes account and Apple support say they can't reset it!

Apple seems to have a problem in which some accounts become locked and cannot be unlocked.  Don’t bother responding with comment s like which i pulled form this site while tracking down my login issues:
"IT'S YOUR ACCOUNT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY IF YOUR STUPID ENOUGH TO SET UP AN ACCOUNT YOU CAN'T ACCESS THAN KICK YOUR OWN...TAIL!!! Pathetic cry babies....smh!"
This is my issue.  My account has worked without an issue since I created the account 1+ years ago.  Then for some reason i was prompted and i could not sign into my account.  I went to iForgot site
Requested Email Verification to unlock account – I request email verification but the email does not arrive. I know my account emsil account works.  I receive email every day to the email account from friends, family and even Apple (download billing receipts, and other apple notifications).  I created another "test" apple id and received an email without  This option does not work either because the verification email is not sent (or never arrives)
Next I went down the challenge question path.  I cannot get past the enter birthdate page as it is never considers my birth date as valid entry.  And yes, i know my birthdate but it is no longer accepted as a valid input.
I had a chat session with Apple support and they are aware of this type of issue but there is no process in place to fix these accounts. According to Apple Support (the person i chatted with) there is concern about protecting users identity by giving other access to your account.  I personally question this response because i had account issue with other companies that mange personal date (e.g. my Bank) and the issue was resolved.  Apple cannot or will not fix this issue.  Without resolution i can not get to content i have purchased but have not downloaded and i can not purchases or upgrade exiting apps.
    Any ideas?

Apple's primitive security scheme was very visibly embarrased by a media writer who saw two of his devices more or less wiped clean while he watched helplessly due to a social engineering crack. (not a hack, a crack)
You and a number of others have been caught between Apple's shutting down identity repair system and whatever unspecified fix.  How long are you stuck?  Well, they have your money already, and you consumers tend to be okay with the abuse, so they aren't in any hurry.

  • I have my old iPhone 3GS that I only use as an iPod but I've forgotten the password and am locked out. My iTunes account is linked to my iPhone4 and I'm lost as to how I can get back into my old iPhone3GS. Can someone PLEASE help me??

Does anyone know how I can get my old one unlocked?

If you have the computer to which the iPhone was last synched, you can restore the iPhone on that computer.  That will remove the lock.  If not, then you have absolutely no choice but to place the phone into recover mode (search Google for instructoins) and restore the phone as a NEW device.

  • Broke my 5c.  Tech supt has 5c/5s left by unk emp  locked 2 his itunes account. They don't know how 2 unlock them from his itunes acct.  I can have the phone if I found out how.  Anyone know? Must be legal method!

Hard to write is limited space.  But tech support has two phones...and iPhone 5c and 5S, left by a former employee.  Both are still tied to his itunes at email r********@yahoo.com.  They don't the who the employee is.  When they try to restore them to defaults, itunes tells them that the phone is linked to an itunes account.  How can we get the phones wipes so that the company can reassign them.  Assigning at least one of them to me?!!!  (Coulld fit into 5c or 5s since there is one of each)

There are two levels of locking:
    1.  A 4-digit passcode that is entered to access the iPhone.  This can be removed by connecting to a computer running iTunes by way of the recovery mode as described in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 this simply erases the content and settings so it is accessible.
    2.  Find My Phone has been turned on in Settings > iCloud using the owners Apple ID and password.  This sets the Activation Lock and cannot be bypassed.  the owner's Apple ID and password must be entered to release the lock, or, the owner must login to his/her iCloud account, go to Find My Phone, and remove the iPhone from the devices list.  After that is done the iPhone can be erased and restored.
Your situation sounds like number 2...the previous employee has installed an Apple ID and password and set the Activation Lock.  Your IT folks will not be able to bypass that.  At his point, the best hope is to take the iPhone to an Apple store genius bar with company proof of ownership, and see if they can help you.

  • I want to create a new itunes account but keep the content.  Is this possible?

My family has always used one Itunes account for all devices.  Now it is necessary for us to create a new itunes account.  We want to keep the apps, music etc that we each have now.  How can I do this?  Is this even possible?

I hope this isn't too wordy but I want to be as clear and explicit as I can for you.
You can't transfer purchases from one account to another account. Apple doesn't allow it.
You can continue to use your daughter's Apple ID in order to continue to use the apps that you purchased with her ID and you will need to use her ID and password any time that you want to update those apps. What you do want to avoid is having to download any of those purchased apps again on any other devices - if you create a new Apple ID.
If you create a new ID and then you sign into her ID in order to download a previous purchase-  you will lock yourself out of the new ID for 90 days and there is nothing that you can do about it. So as long as you do NOT download any past purchases with her ID - you will not lock yourself out of the new ID. So you can keep using the apps that were bought with her ID, you can also update those apps using her ID (you have to sign into her account in Settings>Store) but you can't download past purchases without messing things up with your new ID.
When you download a past purchase with a different ID - you associate that device with the different ID for 90 days. This is one way that Apple hopes to cut down on pirating of apps - friends using other friends IDs in order to download apps without patting for them.
This explains it in a little more detail.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4627
The bottom line is that you can create a new ID, still use her ID - judiciously - but you really want to avoid downloading past purchases with her ID. Transfer all of those purchases into iTunes so that if something happens and you need the purchased content again, you can just sync it again rather than downloading it.
    This explains transferring purchases.

  • How do we split our iCloud accounts but keep one iTunes account so we can share purchased content for our multiple iPhones and iPads?

How do we split our iCloud accounts but keep one iTunes account so we can share purchased content for our multiple iPhones and iPads?

You can migrate a copy of the data to a new account, then delete the other person's data from each account.  To do this, on the phone that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that you want to keep on the phone, save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll. If you have any synced notes that you want to keep on the phone, email these to yourself so you can create new notes in the new account.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.  You will create a new icloud email address with you turn Mail to On.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting your wife's data from your account, and vice versa).

  • Family sharing one Itunes account, want to remove all of their computers content from my library... help

My family shares one Itunes account and I believe it was home sharing that brought all of their music, purchases, movies, etc. onto my Mac's Itunes Library. • How do I separate the content of two iTunes accounts on one PC running Windows 7?

Hello.  I have a dilemma that has been going on for years and am hopeful that someone can outdo the staff at the Apple Store Genius Bar who, after trying multiple times, could not solve this problem. This is a doozie, so get comfortable...
My wife and I have two separate iTunes accounts.  For clarity, this is two separate iTunes store accounts, where we each can log in with a separate e-mail address and password. Years ago, she had her own laptop from which she accessed iTunes and synced her iPhone without any issues.  I used another laptop to sync my iPhone, and all was well until the hard drive on my wife's laptop crashed.
After that, my wife logged into iTunes on my laptop and connected her iPhone to my laptop to sync up, but we found that all of the apps and data on her iPhone synced to my iTunes account.  When I connected my iPhone to the laptop to sync up, all of the content of her iPhone synced to my iPhone. Also, when she connected to the laptop and synced her iPhone, all of my content synced to her phone. So, she stopped connecting her iPhone to the laptop because we were not able to find a way to separate my content from her content when we sync our phones.
To make it more complicated, any app that we both run on our iPhone (e.g. Facebook, Yelp, etc.) is somehow "registered" under my account on her iPhone.  So, if any apps that we both use have an updated version, she is prompted to first enter her iTunes password to authorize the download for apps that only she runs, and then for my password to authorize apps that we both run. In other words, her iPhone is somehow permanently linked to my iTunes account.
Now, to make this even more interesting, let me add another level of despair.  When iOS 5 was released in 2011, we tried to update her iPhone by installing the new OS but the OS crashed during the install.  All of the apps that she had installed on her phone, including new contacts, were lost because she had not synced to the laptop for some time. When the iPhone was restored and iOS5 was installed at the Apple Store, we learned that all contacts and pictures stored there were lost.  Fortunately the apps that she purchased were saved because they were still stored on her iTunes account, but still are only accessible through my iTunes account on the laptop since all of the content is merged, as mentioned above. Also, when we restored them, she got all apps (mine and hers) so she had to manually delete mine which took a lot of time.  So, consequently she is still running iOS 5 because we don't want to deal with the hassle of losing any data or having to manually delete my apps from her iPhone.
So, I am extremely hopeful that someone can demonstrate some intellectual "heavy lifting" and can help us to answer the following questions:
    1) How can we set up iTunes so that our content is separated rather than stored completely on my iTunes account?
    2) How can we modify the settings in iTunes and/or iPhone so that we will only access our own content upon connecting to the laptop? (Note: I realize that iCloud makes it unnecessary to sync via USB but occasionally use the computer to charge my iPhone and it syncs automatically)
    3) How can we modify the settings on her iPhone so that it does not recognize mutual apps as "my" apps and prompt her to enter my iTunes password to update them when a new release is available?
    4) If she were to install the current version of iOS, how can we ensure that her data will not be lost if the software crashes again?
Whoever can figure this out gets to brag about being the coolest person in the world, at least in my book. Thanks in advance.

  • Can you now have multiple Itunes accounts sharing content on one computer?

Hi - I was trying to find this information on line but cannot.
The last "big" Itunes update (11.2?) prevented multiple Itunes accounts from sharing content on one computer.  Well, you can, but with consequences. For example, my husband purchased a movie rental with his Itunes account on our computer when he logged on to Itunes, but then I could not download any Itunes content for 30 days when I logged on to my account. I no longer purchase any content from Apple because of this. I was hoping this feature has been discontinued – it prevents households from purchasing Itunes.  We never pirate or steal any content at all. In fact, this feature forces us out of the Itunes universe to purchase movie rentals and music elsewhere.
Not just trying to complain, really. Legitimately want to find out if this rights policy still exists before we both try to rent or purchase anything from Itunes.
    Thanks.

"Won't it present problems if the daughter needs to reauthorize the computer for her own use before 90 days,"
No. The 90 day limit ONLY applies to redownloading purchases from iTunes..
So if she were to redownload purchases from the father's account then she'd have to wait 90 days to redownload form her own account. and the computer can be authorized for multiple iTunes account (pretty sure it's 5) . You don't need to later reauthorize for first account if you authorize for a different account.
More discussion on 90 day wait period - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6094005 - disable automatic downloads so message doesn't appear when using multiple accounts.

  • Can i remove purchased content from one itunes account to a new account?

i have 3 ipads on my one icloud account and my one phone my family shares the content on the 3 ipads.
I am getting my oldest child a i phone and want to move some of the shared content to her new phone and one if the ipads.to her own itunes account.
can i select some of the purchased content and move to a new itunes account?  Please help

Purchased content is permanently tied to the ID used to purchase it and connot be moved to another ID.  You can still sync it to her new phone from an authorized computer.  If she is moving to a different computer, you can also authothize the new computer for the ID used to purchase it, then use home sharing to copy the purchased media to the new iTiunes library, where she can then synch it to her new phone.
