Lock document / forbid editing

Hi everybody,
i still have not finished my workflow yet and i'm having some other questions:
If an order (or quotation) has been created there are some approval steps. During these approval steps I will not that anybody else is able to edit the document wich is related to the workitem.
How can I solve this? At the moment it is possible to change a document (quot,order) while it is for approval...

Hi Natali,
For this purpose, you have to use the FORK step in your WF and in one branch it should follow ur normal process and in another branch, you have to use the wait step event, here you have to select the change event for that particular transaction and after the wait step event simply you complete the WF
During your WF approval process, if anyone edits then wait event will get triggered and that particular workitem will get completed and new workitem will be created .with the changed values.

It is normal that you get this errror message "Park document blocked xxxxxx" if you try to park a document for which "Release necessary" is set but "Released" flag is not set.
Normally in workflow the "Released" flag is set in a background step right before the workflow posts the documents.

Unable to edit document using "Edit with Word" option

Hi All,
i am having an issue with Office web apps. i am using SharePoint 2013 and Office web apps 2013. all the configurations have been done successfully. but i have a different kind of issue.
i am able to open documents in browser
i am able to edit document using " edit with word/excel web" option
but i am unable to edit document using "edit with word/excel" option
i have Office 2010 installed on my local machine.
do we need to have MS office of 2013 version? or is there anything missing from configuration part.

According to your post, my understanding is that you could not use the "edit with word/excel" option.
I had tested the issue with the Office 2010, the option worked well.
You don’t need to install the Office 2013 to use this option.
What did you mean “but i am unable to edit document using "edit with word/excel" option
Did you mean the option gray out? Did the issue occur in other browsers?
You can use compatibility mode to check whether it works.
Open IE->Tools->Compatibility View Settings
You can also add the site into Trusted sites.
Open the IE->Internet Options->Security->Sites->add the site into the Websites, then check whether it works.
What's more, you can also use other browsers to check whether it works, such as Firefox, Chrome.

Just thought I'd add my solution, I decided to go with WebDAV and I think it actually works better than the iTunes way, the steps are pretty much the same but avoiding the iTunes interface just makes things easier and faster.
I followed this guide but it does have a small mistake in the httpd-dav.conf file, on line 2, where it's WebServer/WebDAV">, it should be <Directory "/Library/WebServer/WebDAV">.
The tricky part is setting permissions which if wrong will give you errors when connecting with the iPad, I opted to set all to Read&Write since my home network has a hardware firewall. Another convenience was to add an alias to the webdav share on the Desktop.
I'm still expecting the call from Apple but even if they fix the iTunes I'm sticking with WebDAV, atleast until I see what's new with iOS5 and iCloud this fall which should bring true sync for documents (I'm hoping that they will offer encryption with my own keys, if not, then I'll probably keep using WebDAV).

Do you mean the check box isn't enabled?
Or you remove the check but it doesn't "stick"?
Or you remove the box but documents are stil getting locked?
That setting doesn't apply to other things in System Preferences, just apps that support AutoSave and Versions. If you're having a problem with System Prefs, please clarify exactly what.

I am able to see the Choose File option.
I'll first post this reply.
Then open it in edit mode to try attaching a file image.
Image can be attached as well as embedded.

Does anyone know of a way to set the default for Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0 to open documents in edit able format? I am trying to simplify the process of opening and completing forms as easy as possible.

The form needs to have form fields added (like the IRS forms). This can be done in Acrobat with the tools>advanced editing, select the form field of interest. You can also create forms in Designer (no longer being able to edit the PDF in Acrobat) using the FORMS button under the button just to the right of tools (sorry, this machine only had AA5 and the menus are different). I would use the Acrobat forms myself, but there are many that use Designer, particularly since Adobe has placed a FORMS button under the menu I could not remember. Thus folks think that is the only way to create forms.
When the form is saved in Acrobat (if you have AA8 and want backward compatibility, use Reduce File Size or PDF Optimizer to save the file with backward compatibility). When the form is opened, you should simply have to locate the cursor over a form field and fill it in. If there are standard entries, you could also use list fields or just pre-fill a field. Bill

I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this question..
I am attempting to open a word document, which resides in a webdav folder from web app. I need IE to start word and open the original document from the webdav folder and allow the user to make changes to the document and save it back to the webserver.

I've got it to open the document but it seemed to have copied the document to my temporary internet files folder and opened the copy from there. The original file name is "test.doc" but the opened temprary file is "test[1].doc" and so on. How can I get it to open the original document for editing?

Excel security for locked documents

I develop many forms and templates for clients. I just discovered that I can take a fully locked document from Excel (any version), bring it into open office and unlock it with NO PASSWORD. How is this possible? Is there anything I can do to prevent people
from accessing the locked spreadsheets? I have not checked other compatible software, but am very concerned about this, as many of my forms sales depend on the formulas developed by me which can now easily be copied by anyone who knows this.
