Lock e-mail on N97

Hi,
My new emails display on the main screen. Is there any way to lock it so that no one else can view my email subject/sender as soon as they pick up the phone? in other words password protect it?

lol, you know you can change the content of the home screen if you want to by selecting the left hand button - options- and selecting edit content. you can put a lot of different stuff on it and when you are done, just click done and you are with a whole new screen

  • TS3899 My iPhone & iPad mail is locked - Press mail app, the screen starts mail, freezes and bounces back to main menu. The fault occurred whilst opening a draft email created in the 'Mail 2 Group' app. Hard reset/reset all/restore backup have no effect -

    I installed the Mail 2 Group App on my iPAD, created an email which I saved to the 'Draft' folder, with something over 300 of my contacts in the bcc. On returning to this email, again in my iPad, the screen locked in mail for a few seconds and bounced bak to the main menu. This repeated on my iPhone, on which I have been carrying out my own checks - this includes deleting the Yahoo account, hard reset (red cross and two buttons), restoring a backup and Reset All in settings.
    I'm stuck !!

    Sending a message with that many addressees may have required more RAM than was available. You can clean up RAM as follows:
    Double-press the HOME button
    Kill each app by flicking its screen image up
    When all apps except the Home screen are closed press HOME
    Wait about 2 minutes for the shutdowns to finish
    Turn the phone off (hold the SLEEP button until "slide to power off" appears, and do so)
    Wait another minute
    Turn the phone back on by holding the SLEEP button until an Apple logo appears
    Now try to send the mail again. Note that you may have an unrelated problem if this works: Many ISPs (Yahoo included) limit the number of email recipients for a single message as a way to combat spam.

  • Deleting large amount of emails locks up Mail?

    I have a local mailbox ("On My Mac") that has about 50000 messages, and I want to delete about half of them. Deleting messages is always very slow (tbh, doing anything in Mail is very slow), but when I try to delete more than 5000 messages at once, Mail simply locks up on me.
    I thought that it was just busy and would eventually come back, but I left it going overnight and came back to see it still locked up. So I force-quit and restarted it, only to find that none of the messages had been deleted or even moved to the trash. I guess deleting messages is an atomic process.
    So my question is, how can I delete a large amount of emails without locking up Mail and without manually sitting there deleting one, waiting 5 seconds for the app to start responding again, and delete another, 25000 times?

    I'm not surprised that dealing with so many messages chokes mail up.
    You can try deleting messages in chunks about 1000 at a time.
    also, you might want to try the following apple script.
    <pre style="
    font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
    font-size: 10px;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #000000;
    width: 720px;
    color: #000000;
    background-color: #ADD8E6;
    overflow: auto;"
    title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor">
    tell application "Mail"
    set mlist to selection
    repeat with msg in mlist
    delete msg
    end repeat
    end tell</pre>
    Paste the script into Script Editor, select the messages you wish to delete in Mail and press "Run" in script editor. the script works by moving messages one at a time so I hope it shouldn't choke Mail up. However, it will take a long time to run.

  • Lock Native mail box on iPhone

    How to lock native mail box on iPhone without installing external App?

    You lock the entire phone with a passcode. You can't lock individual apps unless the app developer built that functionality into the app itself.

  • How do I lock my mail when i have finished viewing so others can't access my mail

    How do I lock my mail  when I have finished viewing it so others using my ipad2 cant access it

    The iPad is designed to be a single user device and there isno direct way of locking/hiding the Mail app, though there is this work-around https://discussions.apple.com/message/13127632#13127632
    I don't know whether any of the third-party email apps have password protection within them, and you could also just use a browser (you can create homescreen shortcuts in Safari, so you could have a shortcut to your email account log-in screen).

  • Clicking Reply locks up Mail

    Clicking the Reply button to an email locks up Mail with a spinning beach ball. Activity Monitor shows no CPU time, no disk activity, no memory swapping, no network activity.
    I have to Force Quit and restart. This latest version is a dog, but now I'm stuck. Any ideas?

    I've tried rebuilding the mailboxes. I've even gone so far as to start over and import the mailboxes from scratch. I still have the problem.
    I waited nearly 10 minutes and the new message window finally popped up. It acted like there was nothing out of the ordinary. Not good for a 2GHz MacBook Pro. I can't figure out what it's doing: no CPU, no network, no disk activity.
    I'm getting to the point where I can't trust Mail and might have to go back to Eudora.

  • Is there a way to lock up Mail so that anyone who launches it can't read my emails?

    I tried going into Accounts and then deleting the password there but old emails are still visible.  I tried using System Preferences to uncheck my Mail account but anyone who knows Macs can just go back in there and recheck it.
    Is there a "lock" type way to prevent people from being able to open and read my mails?  I really would prefer not to Delete my accounts. I would just like to be able to set some password lock on it the way you can lock up files in Word.
    Help.

    Mail is associated with an account.  So simply create an account that is used only by the person who has access to the mail.  Other accounts cannot access it.
    You mention "lock up files in Word."  This has nothing to do with Mail.  But if you mean Microsoft Word, although completely off topic, yes, you can password protect documents there.

  • Trying to send 12mb pdf has locked up Mail..

    Hi, I attached a PDF to an email without checking the size and it was over 12mb - now I find that my email is locked - every time I open mail the timer is running (for hours). Can anyone suggest how I can clear this ? The last time I had this I had to delete my mail folder in the \library folder.. which seemed a bit drastic !
    I also find that when I send large documents Mail gets confused and leaves them in the outbox so they are sent many times.
    Is this a known problem with a known fix ?
    Thanks
    Ian

    Hi Ian. Try this:
    1. Either shut down the Internet connection before opening Mail or take Mail offline immediately after opening it.
    2. Move the messages in Outbox out of there, so that Mail does’t try to send them.
    3. Go online again.

  • "Locking Down" mail preferences?

    To sync the mail on my home mac, my work mac and my iPhone, I run my work, .mac and one other account through gmail imap. I have gmail set up so that if I respond to an email, it uses the incoming address rather than my gmail address.
    In my Mail preferences, I have all accounts enabled but only have the gmail imap check marked to check for new mail, so I won't pull down duplicates from the other servers.
    Problem is, at random times Mail will undo my preferences and access the accounts I tell it not to.
    Is there a way to "lock down" the Mail preferences so it doesn't do this?
    Thanks...
    Zach

    when Mail checks for email in all accounts is the mail>preference>account>advanced, is the "include when automatically checking for new mail" checked when before it was unchecked? or is it that Mail overrides and checks anyways, or that you may have inadvertently gone to mailbox>get all mail or synchronize all accounts or the associated shortcut command?
    hope this helps

  • Nokia Mail Problem N97

    I'm using NM v1.1 on my N97, IMAP account.
    The problem is that not all the messages appear in my Inbox, maybe a max of 5 per day out of 35.
    What should i do?

    Are you using the inbuilt message cliet or the G-Mail application?
    I'm too running V20 my handset connects to the mail box, checks for new mail, then disconnects. I am using the inbuilt message client. If i go into messages an connect manually to retreive  my mail, when exiting it advises that my mail box will be disconnected and asks if i want to continue.
    Hope this helps

  • Is there any way i can lock my mail password to my account? i am sick of re-entering it

    Every time my z10 can't connect to my email, it keeps giving me the 'can't connect' error, and makes me reenter the **bleep** password.  any way i can lock this in?

    The solution for others has been to:
    Settings > Accounts
    Delete the current email account.
    Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
    After reboot, go back to your Settings > Accounts and re-add that email setup again.
    Now, that said, the glitch you're experiencing was more prevelant in older 10.1 and 10.2.0 OS releases and I know ATT has not updated to the latest 10.2.1 OS...
    What is your Operating System loaded to your device?  From the main screen, swipe down from the top black bezel to Settings > About... what is the OS Version listed there?

  • Outgoing message is locked in mail

    I wrote an outgoing message in the maul program.  I'm unable to either send it or cancel it as both buttons are greyed out.  How can I reset my mail?

    What if the message is already created by the user (clicked button "new message" in GUI)? Is there a list of last-created outgoing messages somewhere?
    OK, that wasn't clear from your original post.
    It is possible to ask Mail.app for all outgoing messages:
    tell application "Mail"
      set newMessages to (get every outgoing message)
    end tell
    From there you can iterate through the list. The problem I see is that there's no obvious way of differentiating messages created by your script vs. messages created manually by the user. Maybe you have a plan for that.

  • Messages with Inline Graphics Locking Up Mail

    Yesterday everything was fine with Mail.  Today, any time I click on a message with inline graphics Mail freezes (rainbow cursor) and I have to force quit and come back.  The only way I've found to continue using mail is to avoid or quickly delete those messages.  The problem being, I need to forward one, and I can't forward it fast enough to avoid Mail freezing.
    I haven't seen anyone else with this issue (my third since upgrading, I must be lucky, I'm having problems no one else is!) so starting a new thread.

    One possible solution would be to organise your inbox into folders.
    Its never relly good on any system to have one folder that has everything in it.
    Try going to you web gui for that mail account and organise your folders and move mails from your inbox into corresponding folders for better organisation.
    Several folders containing the same amount of one folder will usually load a little quicker as the folder may not be accessed to download its content unless veiwed.
    So having 10 folders with organised content, and you inbox as an area thats to hold only new emails would work much much quicker with imap.
    Most imap servers will only update the contents of a folder when its veiwed.

  • Combined 'Inbox' locks up Mail.app

    I have 2 IMAP boxes (named 'Work' and 'Home'). 'Work' is a standard IMAP account, 'Home' is a .Mac IMAP account.
    Clicking the 'combined' inbox folder in source list (MAILBOXES -> Inbox) causes Mail to hang for at least 2 minutes whenever I switch to that view. The spinning beachball appears and (according to Activity Viewer) takes 100% of the CPU.
    This doesn't happen when i view the Inbox folders individually (MAILBOXES->Work and MAILBOXES->Home).

    I'd just like to add that i'm seeing this behavior as well and would like an answer for it. Also, this does NOT happen on osx 10.5 with mail.app.
