Lock icon on music

What does the lock icon on my songs mean? It seems that every time I try to use on of the 'locked' songs, it completely messes up my slideshow. Can I get rid of the locks?

Don't know if the circumstances are the same but...
I found this happened to my "purchased" music when I had ITunes and iPhoto on different drives.
The first slide is timed to last for ages, then all the other slides progress very quickly to catch up.
I took the cheats way out and simply cycled my slideshow music to a CD and re imported it into iTunes from that CD.
It then no longer showed as "purchased" and worked fine with my slide shows.
I presumed it was something upseting the rights management as I was working with an external drive.
Cheers,
David.

  • Lock icons on music stored on  external HD. Why?

Please read entire problem: I have downloaded music to an authorized iMac...i then back up the music to an external HD. Then i try to move the music to an another authorized laptop (same house/workshop).... i notice that some of the music has a lock icon. Some of the music i have downloaded back to back... and only some of the music has the lock icons and i can't bring it into my laptop....at present the workaround is turning on filesharing.....but what's the point of "backing up" if the music is locked? I have been doing this for about a year....never had a problem before.... is it an update problem? am running iTunes 7.5

Well.... I decided to redo what i had done. Before i moved the music from the first machine, i made sure it was "authorized"....then dragged copies of the bought music onto the external hard drive. Then before i moved the music from the external HD, i made sure i authorized the machine i was moving them onto. Not sure if this did it or not. There are still "lock" icons on the music, i've moved onto that machine, but they DO play. I have NO IDEA what happened..... but it is working again. ????....

  • Lock icon at bottom & can't access my music from other comp.

I have noticed while using my iPod video there is a lock icon at the bottom of iTunes and it doesn't allow me to access my music while using other computers. how do i remove this feature so i can play mt music.

The lock icon appears when you iPod is set to automatically update.
Set it to manually update and you should be able to play the music from other computers.

  • Lock icon at Nokia express music 5610

    Hi
when I recive a call or call from my Nokia phone , I get a Lock icon at the top of the screan.
What does this icon means ?
How can I prevent it to pop up ?
phone model : Nokia express music 5610

    @Ilan_11
Padlock icon created to confirm that your connection is encrypted, but carriers can choose to display it or not using a setting on the SIM card amongst others; if you are not used to seeing it, that indicates a change between your phone and the local cell tower and perhaps you may want to contact your network provider for support.
Have you altered any access point settings or changed SIM recently?

  • When Ipod is plugged into itunes there is a lock icon at the bottom.

When I plug my ipod up to my itunes there is a lock icon on the bottom of itunes next to the amount of music (i.e. 6.5 days). My friends doesn't have that icon when he plugs his up to his itunes. How do I turn it off?

Manually updating is not as easy and takes away from the easy syncing from your computer to iPod.

  • Keypad Lock Icon Disappeared

I just plugged my blackberry into my computer so I could try syncing my music. In the process, the icon to lock the keypad disappeared from my home folder. I need it desperately because I always call rando people when the phone is in my purse. How do I reinstall this?

Once you get used to it, you will find it is much quicker and easier to use the mute key rather than scrolling around looking for the lock icon.
Also, in case you missed it, you canpress and hold the A key to lock, as well.

  • Lock icon on itunes

when i plug my ipod into my computer, the itunes player comes up. my I.P.O.D. playlist shows up and at the bottom, the bar shows how much space is left on my ipod. next to it is a lock icon. im having trouble with my 2GB nano holding the 500 songs its suppose to. right now it will only hold 73 songs and ive converted all my songs to apple lossless. i was wondering if the lock icon has anything to do with my troubles?
    gateway   Windows XP

Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to "automatically update songs and playlists". . If you want to access your iPod directly, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and Playlists" in the iPod preferences. For more detail see this tutorial: Managing Your Songs Manually
You won't get 500 songs a Nano on in Apple Lossless format, a file in that format is only about half the size of an uncompressed CD file which makes them typically 18-20 MB each. The numbers quoted by Apple for the number of songs an iPod will hold are based on a typical 3-4 minute song in compressed AAC format with a bit rate of 128 kbps. This is the default format by the way that is used for songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store. You will need to change your import settings if you want to regularly import CDs in that setting as.

  • After OS 10.4.6 update, mounting my other Mac - drives have lock icon. Why?

I have a Powerbook and a desktop G5. I share files between them and mount drives (my home directory) on both desktops to easily move files back and forth. Recently after I updated to 10.4.6, when I mount my home directory on either machine (from the other machine), the drive (folder) has a lock icon next to it making it READ only.
What can I do to remove that lock so I can WRITE to my home directory on each Mac? Thanks!
    Robert

When I do Command-I, I see that I have read/write access for the local drive - depending on the machine I am sitting at - and the other networkeded drives allow read only.
I guess the question is - how does the system know a user with the same username and password are actually the same person?

  • I just upgraded to Firefox 5.0.1 and since the "lock" icon never appears when accessing secure websites, where should I look for it?

I just recently upgraded to Firefox 5.0.1 and now the "lock" icon doesn't appear anywhere (I can find) when accessing secure websites. I haven't seen it once. It used to appear in the lower right corner of the screen. I also have Norton Internet Security.

Padlock is no longer part of Firefox; it was removed beginning in Firefox 4. The padlock shows that there is a secure connection but does not supply additional information. You could have made a typographical error and still have been connected to a secure connection. The padlock was replaced in Firefox 3 with the Site Identity Button. • Why don't I have a Lock Icon available to me on an external drive?

    Hi.
I will first off beg your forgiveness, as I am very new to iMac.
I have been using PC for quite some 20 years, but I am having difficulty with Finder and it's peculiarities.
My main problem is that there is no lock icon available to me in the "Get Info" section, when I go to place files on an external drive.
Despite being the administrator of this particular iMac, I only get "you can only read" in the Sharing and Permissions section.
I can find no function to allow me alter this situation.
    Can anybody please help me?
    Thank you.

  • "lock" icon on top of view screen

    i have a "lock" icon on top of my view screen; the "hold" button is not "on" but i'm not able to turn "on" my ipod; i noticed the "lock" icon when i plugged ipod into my computer; when not plugged into computer, ipod screen is blank and doing the "reset" process does not work;
I can't find any information in the support/training guide that refers to the "lock" icon; it shows other icons and what they mean, but nowhere do i find a pic of the "lock" icon and its definition.
    Please help...

The lock on an iPod screen is displayed when the hold switch is on, it sounds like yours is stuck in the on position. Try toggling it back and forward to see if that will release it. If the problem continues contact Apple or your retailer:

  • With Firefox 4.0 I cannot find a lock icon designating a secure site even though it is indicated by "https". Is this an omission or do I need to turn on the feature?

The redesign of the browser for Firefox 4.0 seems to be missing the display of the lock icon that I am accustomed to looking for when seeking assurance that the site I am visiting is using Secure Socket Layer protection for my personal information. I can see the "https" designation in the address line but miss the added confirmation provided by the lock icon. I am running Windows XPPro SP3 and using Classic views instead of the standard XP theme - could this have something to do with it or do I need to turn on an option to have the lock shown?

The padlock has been replaced by the site identity button, for details on using it see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Site+Identity+Button

  • I a owner and administrator. I can't change any file permissions. Help tells me to 'get info' on a file, them click on the lock icon to enter password. The lock icon is not present on any files I 'get info' on. How can I change permissions

I attached an external drive to my macbook pro for backup purposes. I found that the device is 'read only' for me. I read that I could change permissions by selecting 'get info' for a item and clicking the lock icon to submit my password. The lock icon is not displayed on any 'info' window for any file on my macbook, much less the attached drive. I am the only user and administrator as far as I know. What steps can I take to change permissions? Thanks. My 1st post.

How can I tell? The 'get info' window has no lock and under sharing and permissions, on says 'you can only read'. I did a get info on the Macintosh HD and it had a lock on it but said I could only read, for what that it worth.
