Lock icon stays on the screen

Usually i let my ipod battery die out completely before recharging. This time when i charged it, the lock symbol came up, even when the hold button is toggled off. the only time it turns on now is when i charge it or connect to the computer and still, the lock icon is there. any help would be great!

I took mine to the new Apple store here in Beijing and was pleasantly shocked when they offered to swap it out for a brand new one! My guess is that its cheaper to swap it out and recycle my old one than send it off for repair. This was extra surprising because I was pretty sure that the warranty expired. There must be some known problem with the switches on this model and so they're replacing them...

I have am having a problem with my iPad 2. Normally, if you press the volume button, a symbol appears on the screen showing when the volume goes up or down. This symbols should disappear within seconds. However, this is not the case with my iPad. The symbol is on the screen 90% of the time that I am using the iPad. The volume goes up by itself. I got it checked at a tech store and the technicians said that everything was working properly. If any knows how to fix this problem, please let me know.

When I put in a DVD, the mac locks up, an image from the DVD stays on the screen even when the dvd is removed. The only way to remove the image if to do a hard shutdown.

Could you be a little more descriptive, does this happen with all DVDs? Please describe the type of DVDs you are attempting to use, commercial movies, blank DVDs, etc...

The top of the screen is where the applications menus appear on the left and system icons (time, volume. etc) appear on the right side.
This entire area is "covered over" when you enter into "Full Screen" mode. You can expose it while still in full screen by moving your cursor over the area.

initialy All I was trying to do was downgrade 10.7 to 10.6 .

You have to consider the possibility the hard drive may be dying. If your data isn't backed up, try one of the tools below:

How can I get an inserted video (FLV) in Presenter 7 to stay on the screen once it has finished playing? Right now it disappears once it is done. I'd like it to remain on the screen, or loop if possible, until the user manually moves the presentation forward.

Hi,
You may set the slide setting as 'Advance by user'.
So,
a. Insert flv on a slide.
b. On presenter ribbon goto Slide Manager .
c. Select the slide on which flv is inserted and set Advance by user 'Yes'

I keep getting a box asking me to upgrade the system. The box has a click for more info, but when I click it will not open. The overall box stays on the screen only a few seconds. I cannot be sure that this is not a scam.

There are no details about which version the update applies to.
I cannot be sure that this is not a scam so I have not uploaded it. The fact that the box stays on the screen for only a few seconds, before the regular Firefox screen opens, suggests that the box wants the user to make a quick, uniformed, decision, and to press "Next" rather than find out about the changes.

Did you ever install a Firefox 4 beta (or RC) version in the past?
It is possible that you are still on the beta update channel if you ever installed a Firefox 4 beta version or a release candidate. 
You can check that by looking at the pref app.update.channel on the about:config page. 
If the value of that pref is beta then it is better to download and install the latest Firefox 4.0.x release.

You could try restoring the iPod, but quite honestly it sounds like a bad hard drive and it needs service.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:

. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
