Lock image pixels, how to unlock ?

It open a JPEG in Camera Raw from Bridge, make some adjustments and then I open the photo as a Smart Object in Photoshop. Then I create an adjustment layer and also change the layer style on the smart object ( Inner glow and a Stroke). I save the layer style as default because I have many photos that I want to have the same "border".
I save my Smart Object and start with the next photo from Bridge, into Camera Raw and then into Photoshop as a Smart Object. I add a layer and then I change the layer style for the Smart Object and now my adjustments are default so very easy.
BUT, I cannot see my new border on the second Smart Object! After long time I find out that the first two icons beside Lock in the Layers panel are "locked", I can not change them. The other two are open for change.
So my question is 1) what happened, what is the difference, why are my pixels locked in the second photo? and 2) How can I unlock the pixels?
Yes, I have tried 10-15 times with other photos and I get the same result, my way to get a soft border around my photos are not working.
I have never been an expert in Photoshop and now I am very rusty, I have not touch the program for 8 months.
I have Photoshop CS5 Extended Ver 12.0.64 (updated the software today).
So if someone can tell me what is wrong I will be very happy !
Sven

    Only the carrier an iPhone was sold as carrier locked with can officially unlock the iPhone, or send the unlock request to Apple on the owner's behalf.
    You need to contact Fido in Canada.

    You will need to type in the account's id and password. If you bought the phone used and the previous owner left it linked to their account then you will have to contact the previous owner and ask them to remove the phone from their account - he/she is the only person that can do it

  • X220 WWAN Locked to Vodafone - How to unlock?

    I've got an X220 laptop with an Ericsson F5521 gw WWAN module in it.  I've only ever used it in the UK with a Vodafone UK SIM and hadn't realised until I tried to use it with foreign data SIM that its locked.  How do I go about getting the unlock code for it?  Do I need to speak to Lenovo or Vodafone?  Or is there a 3rd party service I can use?  Has anyone else got experience with this?
    Cheers

    The Lenovo supplied F5521gw card is not locked to any provider.
    Please tell us more about your experience with the foreign data SIM that caused you think the card was locked to a specific provider?!?

  • Locked photos - how find, unlock

    Hello,
    Using iPhoto '11 (9.2.1) under Lion 10.7.2.
    Am encountering problems with "locked" jpg files -- for example, I have one event that shows 90 images and I go to merge another that has 12 images -- I would expect to have 102 in the merged event, but end up with 300 -- the excessive 198 have only an icon, not a thumbnail -- I can click on them to display, and see them, but they're older images I intended be trashed. I have found older discussions pre-Lion pre-iPhoto 11 but thought I would repost the questions:
    How do I find all these locked photos?
    How do I "unlock" them? Am really unclear about this; please be explicit.
    How do I permanently get rid of them, forever gone, not to come back and haunt me from one trash or the other? (OK, I'm a little frustrated; bear with, please...)
    Thanks, in advance
    PS -- additional variables include using 5 different Sony cameras, all of which start numbering images from scratch with DSC00001 (grrr....), Also having Aperture installed (no similar problems there)...

    Hello, Terence,
    Thanks again for responding.
    For description, let's call these locked files "ghosts."
    Are they Trashed? -- yes, I thought so -- sort of.
    The Size:  10,000+ images in iPhoto library. 30,000+ in external hd (see below)
    The Timing -- this seems to be all post install of Lion. I received a "You must update your iPhoto database" message subsequent to upgrading to 10.7.2  and clicked yes -- this problem has appeared since then, also.
    The workflow --
        1.      jpgs are loaded from camera or old storage into a folder based filing system on an external harddrive (actually, many are still remnants of MS days, 6 years ago).
         2.     As desired, jpgs are drag & dropped into iPhoto....and then re-classified into narrative description Events (rather than date based). Most are then kept in iPhoto but not deleted from external harddrive.
         3.     Often times, when doing projects (including CDs to snailmail to others), jpgs are dragged from iPhoto to Desktop, and then burned from there.
         4.     The ghosts have all either
                   a)     previously been trashed in iPhoto, and iPhoto's trash has been emptied, OR
                   b)     drug from Desktop to normal Trash and it also has been emptied, AND
                   C)     oftentimes both, but perhaps not always.
         5.     A Spotlight search for the ghosts discloses that (for many of them, but I haven't checked all 198) jpg files with the same camera based name (DSC000XX) can still be found on the external harddrive (yes, I would like to keep them there).
    So, "Sort of" means "yes, trashed in iPhoto, yes, trashed from Desktop, but not trashed from external drive."
    Continuing Questions
        1.     How does a jpg get "locked?" (Is this new to Lion? I've never seen before.)
         2.     Database repairs -- first, the only convenient backup for the iPhoto database is Time Machine (I don't have any more external hds with adequate space....I could be convinced to acquire another before Repairing). Does the "Backup App" still function?
         I am nervous about the future steps -- while I'm certain the original jpg images are on the external hd, I do not relish having to re-organize/re-catagorize in events the existing iPhoto library of 10,000+ images.
         Thanks for your thoughts.

  • How to tag grouped and position locked images

    Hey, found that script does not work when the image is being grouped and locked..
      I tried to unlock it's parent first then tag the image.
    but...
    There's a problem here, if the image was grouped many times..
    how to unlock ALL it's ancestors??
    What shld be the correct script here... HELP...someone
    I'm beginning to hate CS3 and CS4... so many restrictions here and there.

    It would help if you identified the scripting language you're using and if you provided some indication of your current attempt to solve the problem at hand. Are you speaking of xml tagging?
    [eboda_snaf] yes
    To unlock all the items in a group, starting with an image in that group, is an interesting little project. I'd tackle it along these lines:
    1. Look up the parental hierarchy until to get to a group whose parent is a page or a spread. [If you're allowing for the possibility that the original image is anchored to some text in a text frame that is part of a group, things get a little more complicated because then you'll need the parentTextFrame of character -- and you have to allow for the possibility that the text is overset.]
    [eboda_snaf] will try that, btw you have any samples?
    2. Using the allPageItems property of the group, iterate through each member of the group and make sure its locked property is false.
    I don't see how CS3/CS4 is any more restrictive in this regard than was CS2. Do you have a CS2 solution to this issue that doesn't work in CS3? If so, please post it.
    [eboda_snaf]
    In CS2, using the direct selection tool, I'm able to select and tag the image even if it's grouped and locked, no script needed at all, no sweat and fast!
    In fact we are doing that currently.
    In CS3 and CS4, I can't do that. It will give a stupid warning message "Cannot modify elements that contain locked content, or are contained by locked content. Please unlock or check out the content and try again."
    So need to unlock the parent first. To make matter worse, grouped objects will need to unlock all the great great great grandparents first!
    Such a hassle, just doing a simple xml tagging task.

  • Photoshop lock layer; how to unlock?

    one layer in a photoshop document has a padlock on it; no clue how it got there. I can't make it go away; perhaps the method is different in CS6 than in previous versions...
    Any clue about this? I can't fill a selection on this particular layer...don't  know why. The layer in question IS selected, and the selection is active, etc.
    w

    Admittedly the transparent lock is rarely seen, but notice your little brush icon is now active.  You've partially locked the layer (specifically, you've locked the image pixels).  Just click that brush icon and you should be in business.
    See this page for what the various lock icons do.

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
