Lock Screen function no longer displays the screensaver
Something is wrong with my Lock Screen function.
It no longer displays the screen saver when activated, but turns off the whole screen instead. The screensavers themselves work fine when activated automatically after the set time.
I've repaired permissions, deleted caches and trashed ~/Preferences/com.apple.screensaver.plist (plus the ByHost ones), but it's still not working.
Is this a known bug? Any ideas?

there is nothing wrong with your lock screen function. it never activated screensaver. it just locks screen. always been that way. if you want to lock screen and run screensaver check the box in securityy preferences to require password to wake from sleep or screensaver. then assign a hot corner to activate screensaver in exposé system preferences and use that.

You make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple Store and get it serviced/replaced. You broke it. If you can't even force a reboot, there's nothing much more you can do.

Can the lock screen be customized to display contact info in iOS 7
Can the lock screen be made to display contact info (ie; to return phone if you lose it). Can a different background/wallpaper be selected? My phone uses a rippling water photo that isn't even an available wallpaper.
You can select a different wallpaper photo for the lock screen (and one for the home screens), including one from your Camera Roll. Write your contact information on a piece of paper and select it as your lock screen wallpaper (the one on the left of Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness > CHOOSE WALLPAPER).
Users have reported issues is getting pictures resized so they correctly. I suggest you try writing in the center of a page of paper, taking several photos at different distances/zooms, and play around with which one is most readable.
Note: This is speculation. I have not tried it myself. -
My full screen function no longer works in Pages after latest software updates for Pages and Yosemite.

Open your Pages document in Pages v5.5.1.
To enter full-screen:
Pages > View > Enter Full Screen (or control+command+F)
Hover over the green traffic light in your Title bar. It will show diagonal full-screen arrows. Click.
To exit full-screen:
Hover over the Document Title bar, then Pages > View > Enter Full Screen (or control+command+F)
Move your pointer over the Document Title bar, and press the green traffic light again -

Sorry to hear you are having a similar problem. Last night I went to the tool bar at the top of iphoto, clicked on "File", then clicked "Browse Backups" in the drop down menu. I have an external hard drive that is set up to Time Machine. The Browse Backups opened the iphoto pages in the Time Machine. I selected a date one day ahead of the day I performed the now infamous update, and it showed my iphoto library as it had existed that day. I then clicked "Restore Library" at the bottom right corner of the Time Machine screen. Roughly 2 hours later my iphoto was back to normal. When I opened iphoto there was a message saying I need to upgrade my program to be compatible with the new version of iphoto(version 9.2.1). I clicked "Upgrade" and within seconds it had done whatever upgrading it needed to do.
The only glitch in the restoration was that it restored the library as it appeared last week, so I no longer had photos I had imported this past weekend. I simply went back to the Browse Backups in the drop down menu, when Time Machine opened I selected the page showing my pictures from this weekend and again said to Restore Library. Roughly 45 minutes later the library was restored including the most recent photos.
I am now a happy camper.
I don't know if any of this will be of help to you because your email says you are having trouble with photos imported after the upgrade was performed. Have you had any pop up notices when you first open iphoto, that tell you you need an upgrade to be compatible with the new iphoto? If so have you clicked "upgrade"?
Good luck Liz, if you have Time Machine running as a back up to your library, maybe you wil be able to get help there, by following my instructions above. Otherwise, good luck with your investigations. I'd be interested in hearing how you make out.

Outlook 2010 no longer displays the calendar and my contacts.
After installing icloud, my Outlook 2010 no longer displays the calendar and my contacts, except in the icloud calendar and contacts listing. How do I restore Outlook calendar and contacts?
Thanks Julian for the suggestion. Unfortunately all still checked out and nothing amiss. However, after reinstalling OS 10.6.8 it appears that my calendar items are syncing once again, but not my contacts. I appreciate the suggestion none the less.
This same thing seems to happen each time I've upgraded Office with the associated version of Entourage, and now Outlook. Ah, well..nothing's ever simple. But I am thoroughly enjoying Outlook and the rest of the Office suite. -
My apple tv main menu no longer displays the "movies" section, just internet, computers, and settings. Does anyone know why or how to get it to show again? Recently rented a movie directly through apple tv but can't see the "movies" section in main menu now. WiFi and home sharing are working.

Check the location setting for the iTunes Store is correct.
You might also try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router.

Since I upgraded to Firefox version 3.6.10, clicking on the downward arrow at the right end of the location bar no longer displays the drop-down list of sites visited, bookmarks and addresses typed in location bar. My Tools > Options > privacy setting is to save history, and if I start typing a previously accessed website's address in the location bar, then the full address appears as a drop-down item. But not when I just click at the right end of the bar.
You can try "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the [[Safe mode]] start window.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

I am trying to find information about a type of message I received on my iPhone. It appears as the message only on my locked screen, I must press on the green Dismiss icon at the bottom and the message disappears and then I can unlock my phone with passcode and use phone. This message stays there until I press Dismiss. It shows no sender or where it came from but is being sent to my phone number. Only a message the sender intends me to read shows on the screen then once dismissed, it disappears and does not show up or save in any application on my phone. Any ideas?

On previous versions when logged onto a secure site a green lock symbol appeared in the lower right hand corner of the page. Since downloading the most current version of Firefox, this is no longer displayed. How then do I confirm the site I am on is encrypted?

The old padlock could give users a false sense that a site is secure by not supplying all of the information about a site and only showed that there is a secure connection that didn't guarantee that you are connected to the right server. The Site Identity Button was introduced in Firefox 3.0 to show more complete "identity" information for HTTPS web pages. <br />

Can we turn off the icon on the lock screen that opens and displays all the photos on your ipad
I finally noticed the little icon on the lock screen that you can puch and it immediately opens a slide shoew of all the phoes in your library. I think this is a bit of a security issue -- I dont' wan people being able to look at my pictures wtithout authorizatino from me. This supasses my permission and lets anyone look at them while the IPAD is still "locked"
Cn w turn off/disable this icon selection somehow? I've notobeeen abe to find anything yet.
Help!There is no security issue. If your iPad is protected by a passcode (which it should be if you don't want anyone to be able to look at stuff) you can turn the slideshow icon off.
