Lock Screen Group Policy - Error code 0X80070002

Hi
I'm trying to update the workstation policy (2008R2) to show a new Lock Screen for our users.
I have two policies:
-Windows 7 Workstation Policy
-Windows 8.1 Workstation Policy
It was no problem for our Windows 7 machines.
Windows 8.1 however wouldn't change.
The picture downloads successfully to the client directory I specified in the policy, resolution and size are ok.
I've tried deleting the sysdata folder on test machines (This left me with a blue lock screen, but still better than what they chose ;)
I've tried default and unique filenames, and different folder locations under 'Force A Specific Lock Screen'
I've disabled/enabled 'Force a Specific Lock Screen'
I came across this warning on the client test machine:
The computer 'backgroundDefault.jpg' preference item in the 'Win8.1 Policy}' Group Policy Object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070002 The system cannot find the file specified.' This error was suppressed

Hi ,
Can you please post the gpresult report here? And also ensure there is no policy processing failure in the problematic machines. That you can verify by seeing the gpsvc logs.

  • Server giving group policy error 4098

I have been developing group policies to replace our login script.  The policy copies many files over from a shared network drive.  On many of the policies I have set it to run in the local user's security context so that the GP will pick up the
drive letters (they are different depending on the office).  On one server in a remote office where the Group Policy is not applied I keep getting errors every time I enable the policies in a separate test OU.  It does not make any sense to me as
the policies should not apply to this server, the server is not a domain controller, and I did not login to this server under my user account.
Here is an example of the errors (there are hundreds of similar errors):
The user 'Worksharing Monitor for Autodesk Revit 2011.lnk' preference item in the 'New Cadd {184A655E-D801-4589-AAF4-37788F771193}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070002 The system cannot find the file specified.'
    This error was suppressed.
The user 'AutoCAD 2011 - English.lnk' preference item in the 'New Cadd {184A655E-D801-4589-AAF4-37788F771193}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070002 The system cannot find the file specified.' This error was suppressed.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
You cannot the computer configuration policies to users. Please first of all , provide a new policy in the user configuration - shortcut" , and move the users that applying the shortcut policies to related OU. And gpupdate -- try again.

  • Error code 0x80070002

We are trying to install Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 SP1 in our Dell PowerEdge T110 Server.
The server uses S300 Dell PowerEdge RAID Controller which requires driver installation which we did on each installation using the driver provided by DELL via a Thumb Drive.
The installation went on well for the other 3 servers.
But we are getting the following error message particularly on this server.
“Windows cannot install required files. the file does not exist. Make sure all files required for the installation are available,  and restart the installation . Error code 0x80070002”
I have tried the following measures to eliminate this error message.
    1) Burnt countless “Moser Baer”  DVDs in 1X speed in IMGBurn.
    2) Burnt in different DVD Burners (Hardware) too.
    3) Deleted / Formatted / Created partitions in the hard drive multiple times.
    4) Diagnosed for any hardware problems using DSET Tool from Dell and found none.
    5) DSET Tool based on CentOS 6 Live CD working without any issues which confirms the DVD Reader’s quality.
    6) I have attempted to create a Bootable Windows 2008 R2 Thumb drive with following steps.
    a. select disk 2
    b. clean
    c. create partition primary
    d. select partition 1
    e. active
    f. format quick fs=fat32
    g. Extracted the ISO contents to Hard drive and copied the content to the USB Thumb drive.
    h. But the server couldn’t boot from the USB as even the option doesn’t show.
    i. Dell customer support says the thumb drive was not boot-able.
Please assist us in rectifying the issue.

    Hi Raghu Sunderam,
Could you try to check your hardware firmware and upgrade to latest version or change a new hard disk then install again, if it not work please try to use DAS storage then install

  • Cannot Add PST File to Outlook 2010. An Unknown error occurred, error code 0x80070002

Computer is running Windows 7 64 Enterprise with Office 2010.
There was a PST file that was connected to the computer until we had a network outage yesterday. I deleted the entry for the PST file and went to add the PST file back and received the following message when I clicked the "add file" button.
An Unknown error occurred, error code 0x80070002
I have ran the Office repair, and recreated the users profile on the computer.
The users PST file connects to other computers without an issue. I would like to have to avoid having the wipe the computer and do a clean install.
Please let me know if you need more details.

The users PST file connects to other computers without an issue.
Are you saying the same PST can be used on other computers without an issue? At what exact point do you get this error? In which dialog and which exact button click?
Please try to create a new profile and let it build a new pst file. Later, you can redirect it to your existing PST file and see if it works.

  • Backup Error Code 0x80070002

New desktop, trying to do its first BU to an external usb connected drive that is 500GB and freshly formated (NTFS) on this system. BU fails after about 60% complete with error code 0x80070002. No further details, no mention of skipped or not found files, etc. Desktop has 6GB RAM and Nvidia GeForce 705 1GB graphics. BU works OK if saved to (6) DVD's.
Already tried the commonly reccomended solution of MS patch KB976972. When trying to install it reports "update not applicable" and doesn't complete.  On another forum I saw an older entry about assigning a letter to a hidden partition that fixed this problem for  lot of people. I am not sure what that is all about.
Is there a solution I can implement to fix this problem?
    Thanks!
    Ted

New info re:my backup problem. Moved external HDD to one of the USB 2.0 ports in the back of the system and everything worked OK. So its specifically the 3.0 USB ports.
If there is a resolution to this issue I would be interested in implementing it, the 2.0 ports are very slow but at least they work.  If no solution, well, I can get a backup and an system image copy so I am good for now. I'll watch this post for a while to see if something comes up. If not I'll close out as resolved.
    All the Best,
    Ted

  • Failed to evaluate package P01000XX, Error code 0x80070002

I have a package that got deleted while it still had all the DP's listed under content location, so now I have every site flagged with a big yellow warning.
Not really a big deal but before I could just look at all 54 secondary's at a glance and see green but now I have to select each one to check its status.
Anyone know how to remove it like it never existing so my update status points will go back to green?

    Hi,
Does the smsdpmon.log still say "Failed to evaluate package P01000F3, Error code 0x80070002" now?
    Please check the blog below.
If the package is not on the site, you must remove the package from WMI on the distribution point. The namespace to connect to is root\sccmdp.

  • Printers working, but getting group policy error (error 513)

Ok great, I'll let you know how it goes.

Hi all,I've got a print server role running on a Server 2012 VM. It was working great until a few days ago until one of the printers went offline. I restarted the print spooler (no effect), then restarted the server (brought the printer back online). Since then, I've been receiving these errors for all three printers we have on this server:Error ID: 513Source: Microsoft-Windows-PrintServiceMessage: Group Policy was unable to add per computer connection \\___\\Copier Konica Minolta C360 PCL. Error code 0x7B. This can occur if the name of the printer connection is incorrect, or if the print spooler cannot contact the print server. The printer names did not change, and since the printers are working, it seems that the spooler is working. I also tried updating the drivers through print management (there is a new version of the driver...

    Hello,
We recently upgrade our SQL Server 2012 SP1 (64bit) dev edition to standard edition, after we purchased the required licence and it was deployed in production.
Since the edition change, we are now receiving the following error, with some of our jobs, which have an e-mail step in them, which is causing the jobs to fail.

Any ideas how to fix this issue? We were also having a similar error, when executing the jobs, but changing the job owner to SA has fixed this issue.

    Hi,
Which user account you used for SQL Server service, domain account or local account?
If it is domain account, are you able to log in to a machine with it?
Make sure that the password of account is not expired.
Also, grant the user Allowed to Authenticate permission and see how it helps.

  • Group Policy Error

     Hi All,
While creating and modifying the Group Policy, we have received a error on one of the DC.
Background: We have created one Group policy for testing, some of settings were not visible, so couple of time we have edited the group policy to take the proper settings.
Please refer the attached error, and suggest us.
NOTE: the group policy was created and edited via AGPM
    Thanks
    Thanks HA

    > Please refer the attached error, and suggest us.
Check ACLs on the sysvol folder of your policy. Usually, this is an
orphaned ACL for authenticated users with only the "sync" right enabled.
    GPMC fails to update this.
As a quick workaround: In the security filtering of your GPO, simply add
authenticated users, confirm and remove them again.

However it each case the user still gets their drive mapping!
I've this only occurs with Drive Map GP Preference -I've even taken a user out of all policies except for a new test drive map policy and they still get this error. I've applied the hotfix that should be the latest version of the GP dll's (KB2622802) but
the error remains. I've tried all options within the GPP for Drive Maps - Update, Replace etc,
Should I just override the OpsMgr alerts? It seems like this is a bug with 2008 server and GP Drive Map Preferences?
    Any ideas would be appreciated
