I have a problem with my new Apple Air. It usually takes few seconds for the laptop to be untouched in order to be locked. So, sometimes when the screen starts to get dim in order to lock, I immediately touch the keypad to avoid locking the laptop, the result is a black screen appears with no responding to anything from pressing the keyboard to pressing the touchpad. It takes few minutes for the laptop to open again and then a message appears saying that there was a problem with the lock security.
    What is happening exactly?

It sounds like your sleep timers are set to too low of a value.  Go to System Preferences -> Energy Saver and set both timers to longer times.  The computer sleep timer should be a longer time than the display sleep timer.

  • MY PCMCIA-FBUS/2 CARD LOCKS THE LAPTOP UP, WHEN I INSTALL THE CARD.

I HAVE A PCMCIA-FBUS/2 CARD THAT LOCKS UP THE LAPTOP WHEN IT IS INSTALLED. WE HAVE TRIED IT ON 3 DIFFERENT LAPTOPS. ALL OF THEM HAVE THE COMMUNICATION MANAGER SOFTWARE & HAVE BEEN USING FIELDBUS. THE 1 THING DIFFERENT I HAVE FOUND IS WE ARE USING THE SERIES 2 F-BUS CARDS.  DO I NEED TO LOAD A DIFFERENT SOFTWARE FOR THIS TYPE OF CARD, OR UPRADE TO A DIFFERENT TYPE?

    Hello Terry,
Would you please let us know what kind of Cardbus (PCMCIA) controller is adopted in the laptop? This is the key point.
According to our test, some particular Cardbus controllers are not compatible with our PCMCIA-FBUS series 2 interface card, e.g. Ricoh R5C475II. With these controllers, inserting the PCMCIA-FBUS S2 always hangs the whole OS; the OS becomes active again when we draw the PCMCIA-FBUS S2 out of the slot.

  • Maxx Hotspot won't play nice with an IPad, Win7 laptop, and XP desktop.  If the IPad connects to the hotspot first, it seems to lock the laptop out of an internet connection.  Does anyone have a fix for this?

I recently had to replace my Razr Maxx with a newer model.  XT1080 8984  The older model would handle multiple connections without a problem.  However, the newer model (and newer OS?) has some sort of conflict between the IPad and the Win7 Laptop.  I've spent a day getting the laptop connected to the internet and don't have a great deal of confidence that the connections won't fail in a moments notice.
    Any suggestions or solutions?
    Thanks

Thanks for all the extra details, shkc. While the occasional reboot is a good idea on any device, we certainly don't want you to need multiple restarts either. Try deleting the WiFi connection on all the connected devices. Then on your Maxx, go to Menu>Settings>More (under Wireless & Networks)>Tethering & Mobile Hotspot>Mobile Hotspot Settings>Configire Mobile Hotspot. First, change the Network Name to something a bit different with no special characters. Also, change the Broadcast Channel from Auto to a specific number, such as 10. Then save your changes and create the WiFi connection from the beginning on each of your connected devices.

  • Blank screen after undocking

I have a user that uses her laptop as a third monitor along with her two external monitors. The problem arises when she tries to undock her laptop while the screen is up. The screen will go blank for a moment, but the screen from the primary external monitor never transfers to the laptop thus leaving the laptop screen blank. In order to  get the primary monitor screen to transfer to the laptop when she wants to undock it she must first close the laptop for a few seconds and then undock. At that point the screen will transfer from the primary external monitor to the laptop screen. I have tried this on another Elitebook 840 and i was able to get the primary external monitor screen to transfer to the laptop without shutting the laptop lid before undocking it. Obviously this is a luxury type issue as the user is still able to work with minimal difficulty, but she would like to undock the laptop without shutting the lid first in order to get the screen to transfer.

    i have the same issue.
and another more anyoing issue. when i turn my computer off (real shutdown, not hibernate or standby/sleep) and try to turn it on after a few hours the displays stays black. but the system is botting in background. when i attach an external monitor i can see the system is started normally. the only way to get the lcd back to life is unplugging the running machine and release the battery. so it'll turn off really hard. plugging the charger again and use the power button will bring the display back.
it is really annoying. i have the machine since 5 days and have this problem every morning!!!!!!!
please help asap, otherwise i will buy another fabricate and return the lenovo.

  • W540 - Blank screen after undocking/sleep

Hello folks.... I have a Lenovo W540 which has a simple problem that is frustrating me to no end. Whenever I undock the laptop, or bring it out sleep, the screen remains blank.
I end having to put it back in the dock (or RDP to it), which allows me to view the screen content on the external monitors.
I have updated all the drivers using the Lenovo driver app, and even applied the docking driver update. Nothing seems to help. I've searched the forums, but all that I have found is a suggestion to downgrade the video driver, which I dont really want to do.
Anybody else have this issue? Any ideas?
    Thank you!!
//EDIT to add that this is Windows 8.1. Important information

  • Is it possible to lock the keyboard please?

    Hi
I've got a Pavilion dv6 notebook and would like to know if its possible to intentionally lock the keyboard. This is to prevent my 3 year old daughter from accidentally pressing the keys whilst she watches a DVD.
A speedy response would be appreciated as we're heading overseas tomorrow (Wed 9 Feb) and I'd like to know the answer before we fly.
    thanks!

    Not really.
Windows+L locks the laptop and requires a passsword. T
he problem is that  the notebook can't be used while it is locked.
You woud be better off buying a travel DVD player if you want to avoid the risk of a three year old's curiousity.
    Best regards,
    erico

  • Email stops synching after 15 minutes (when it locks the screen). Any thoughts?

I got the Droid 2 yesterday.  Email account (syncs to corporate email) works fine until the device goes to sleep (or what ever it does after 15 minutes that locks the screen then you have to enter a PIN to wake it up again).  Even after entering the PIN, I need to go into the email application for it to synch.  Seems to me like it should sync with email irrespective of whether the screen is locked or not.
I've run the Droid Power app and ensured sync is green
Battery mode is in Performance mode (to ensure it would always sync)
Email delivery is set to Data Push ON with a Fetch schedule of 15 minutes; Synch over WiFi Only is NOT checked
I got the newest OS update this morning, but still no joy.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what else I can try?
    Thank you,

This may be nothing may than a simple software issue. I recommend performing a hard reset then re-enabling the sync. The steps to perform the hard reset are below:
To reset your phone to factory settings and erase all
the data on your phone, touch Menu > Settings
    > Privacy > Factory data reset > Reset phone.
Warning: All data on your phone will be deleted.
(Nothing on your memory card is deleted.)
To reset your phone to factory settings and erase all the data on your phone,
    touch Menu
    > Settings
    > Privacy
    > Factory data reset
    > Reset phone.
Warning: All data on your phone will be deleted.(Nothing on your memory card is deleted.)
    Hope this helps.

  • HT5192 has anyone else foud the security bug of the camera in the lock screen after the update to 5.1

    Hi
has anyone found that you can get into an iPhone from the lock screen with the camera option. I have just upgraded and now have the camera option on the lock screen. you can go into the camera without the need of the pass code and then when in it press the home button to get into the phone. this is a big security problem, or am I alone of thinking this.
    thanks
    ally

I have tried that a few times.  Also I can only get the phone to lock out someone after using the camera shortcut on the lock screen if the passcode is required immediately. If it is set to 1 minute you can still get into the phone and use it without the passcode.

  • Cannot log in back after screen saver locked the computer

    Hi there,
We have a domain environment with Windows 2012 R2 and a Windows 2003 domain controllers and Windows XP and Windows 7 clients. We have setup a GPO for screen saver which lock the computer after 15 minutes idle. In the last few weeks on some Windows 7 computers
after the screen saver locked the computer the users cannot log in back. Error message come up with Username or password is incorrect.
I've tried to reach the computer through RDP but same error came up even tried to log in as domain admin. I could log in as domain admin locally (switch user option) but as a user cannot. I've tried to restart Netlogon, Workstation and Server services but
nothing happened. In the event viewer no related error message. The only way to login back as a user to restart the computer. It is not really good solution as they opened lots of things which wasn't saved.
Anyone has any idea or experience to solve this issue?
    Many thanks

    Hi,
Since you could login with Domain Admin locally, it should didn't have problem with Netlogon service and other logon correspond service. It seems like the account itself problem.
When this problem occures, have you tried to use other computer logon with the problematic account for test? If other normal computer also had same problem when using the account. It's should your Server authenticate problem. If not, it maybe the domain
account profile problem, you can try to remove the account and readded it for test.
If there was any updates, please feel free let us know.

  • Screen has turned white after I turned the laptop on?

Help, my macbook screen has turned white after I turned the laptop on?

    Hello furniture103
Start with the article below to troubleshoot the issue of just a grey screen. See if you can reset the NVRAM and boot to Safe Mode. Let me know how far you get to further assist you in getting your MacBook to start working again.

  • Screen wont shut off when I close the laptop after fresh install (L512)

So I recently replaced the hard drive in an lenovo L512 with an i3. I've updated windows completely and installed I believe most of the drivers. Everything seems to be functioning perfectly. The only thing is when I close the laptop. The display does not shut off. Is there a driver I am missing? I am running windows 7 professional x64. completely legitimate copy with the original key from the laptop. Thanks for any help!

This only started happening after I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, I don't have a clue why it does it, but if I close the screen on my laptop and open it, the screen doesn't come back on it just stays off but the power light button comes on and the WiFi signal button is on but it is red as if the wifi is turned off, is anyone else having this problem or does anyone know how to fix it? I have to manually hold down the power button everytime I close my laptop to turn it off and then back on and once it is on it works perfectly, but I don't like holding the power button down for obvious reasons. Thank you.Go back to Windows 10, seems HP do not care about releasing up to date drivers for Windows 10, this is despite the problem you report also happening during BETA Testing of Windows 10 over TWELVE MONTHS AGO! It is only now HP are bothering to advise people not to upgrade, but yet they clearly won't reply in this topic, which is more or less about your problem from many different users! http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/Windows-10-Laptop-won-t-go-into-sleep-mode/m-p/5181173#M304826

  • When updating to the latest OS X my wife's Mac Book Pro locked at a grey screen with an apple icon and status bar.  Is there any way to recover the data on the laptop and complete the OS install?

When my wife's Mac Book Pro was being updated to the latest version of OS X the laptop locked up at a grey screen with the Apple icon and status bar.  Is there any way to recover the data and complete the install?  I have not tried anything yet because of the data issue.  I am not sure which OS X version as I did not install the software.

Used Macs of every description are always available on Ebay and Craigslist and from a plethora of online used-Mac resellers. Apple sells refurbished late-model Macs at 10-20% discounts with a new-computer warranty and the opportunity to extend the warranty with AppleCare.

Why does my 4s just close an app all of the sudden and the apple logo will come up like it's shutting down but doesn't it will go to lock screen after that.

It's definitely a crash. I'd maybe look into reinstalling the operating system.

  • How can i get my laptop screen to display on a second monitor after closing the laptop

I have a 13" MacPro, love it, but its display is a little small for how far away i sit at my desk. I have a second 21" monitor that i would like to use for this purpose, but whenever i close the laptop screen it shuts down the signal for the second screen as well. Is there a setting that i am missing to be able to close the laptop and still use my monitor?

    Hi AmandaBenton,
The article below will explain how to use an external display with your Macbook Pro.
The "Mirror Displays" option will show whatever you are seeing on your Macbook Pro on your TV screen.
How to use multiple displays with your Mac
    Video mirroring
Mirroring displays the same image on each display.
Make sure your additional display is properly connected and powered on.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Displays.
    Click the Arrangement tab.
Enable (check) "Mirror Displays" in the bottom-left corner.
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!
