Lock up but no cooling problem solved

Hi,
Here is an experience I'd like to share with others. Just about a month ago, I asked for help on this board because my PC locked up while PC-alert gave a CPU-temperature of only 53 degrees and a system temp of only 32 degrees.
I tried lot's of thing. bought and installed the best coolers, changed processor and more....
Now I seem to have found what the trouble was. I had a Soundblaster Live! 5.1 installed. I always had a slight problem with this card because since I installed this, I could not choose for hibernation or stand by the system because of a system lock up.
Well last week-end I removed the SB soundcard and all problems seem to be solved. I Just got my CPU temp up to 56 degrees (This took me 45 minutes of 100 % usage) and the system remained stable.
So if there are any other people having this same experience or trouble like this.
For people who have a look a like problem and want to cpmpare.
My configuration is:
MSI K7T Turbo R (KT133a)
AMD XP1800+
2 * 256 MB Kingston CL 3
Arctic CPU Cooler
Enermax 400 W powersupply
Asus V7100 series graphics
RTL8139 NIc 10/100 Mb
Hauppauge Win/TV PCI
Stripeset (raid 0) 2 Maxtor 7200RPM 30 GB)
1 Maxtor 7200RPM 30GB on IDE0
A-OPEN DVD on IDE0
Sony CDRW on IDE1
I Use the onboard audio now
I removed:
Soundblaster live! 5.1 player
Trust communicator ISDN
RTL 8139Ni 10/100 Mb (Bough a router)
I have no printer connected to USB or LPT1 (network)
Mouse and keyboard are connected to ps/2

FW 800 Locking up but FW400 no problem

Equipment: Tera Macx Enclosure with 4 hard drives FW400/800 interface located on the rear.. There are 4 hard drives 3 with Sata to EDIE adaptors and one with out.
Configuration: 2 Concatenated Raids 1 is for media backup 1 is time machine.
OSX: 10.5 and 10.6 with a fresh install.
Problem: While FW 800 is connected and the computer sits idle for awhile or when TIme Machine starts to back up the computer locks up and have to hard reset.. This happened with Leopard and Snow Leopard. No problems with FW400
I have just quit using the FW800 but was hoping there was a fix so that I could get my 400 back..

I have a similar problem -- intermittently Time Machine seems to lock up while "Calculating Changes". Finder (and once, Safari) usually becomes non-responsive, particularly if I try to select or eject the Time Machine volume in Finder. The volume can't be selected or ejected using Disk Utility either. Eventually the whole system seems to get bogged down.
Time Machine Buddy widget has no messages at all, except the following:
Starting standard backup
Backing up to: /Volumes/iMac Time Machine/Backups.backupdb
One solution appears to be a hard power-off of the drive enclosure, but then I get the message about "disk not ejected properly." And then Time Machine Buddy will add the following:
Error writing to backup log. NSFileHandleOperationException:* -[NSConcreteFileHandle writeData:]: Device not configured
Stopping backupd to allow ejection of backup destination disk!
Error (256): getting properties for /Volumes/iMac Time Machine/Backups.backupdb/Upstairs iMac/2009-12-10-104748/Macintosh HD/.DS_Store

I am assuming this is because of the untidy disconnection of the drive.
Once the drive enclosure is re-energized, Time Machine works beautifully again, as if nothing ever happened. That is, for another day or so.
I have two 1 TB WD Caviar drives in a RAID 0 configuration in a Vantec NexStar MX connected by FW800 to my brand-new 27" Core i7 iMac. There's no FW400 port on the thing, and I really don't want to go back to USB 2.0, although it's better than nothing. I have tried "Repair Disk" and "Repair Permissions" on both my internal 1 TB and my Time Machine volume. Disk Utility has found nothing needing repair.
I will be watching this thread for any insight.

Same here.... No fix. Replacing is the option apparently and if you're out of warranty, you're SOL. That was as per the "Genius" at Apple.

I used the phone for about a month with no problems at all, even had my apple ID in the icloud and everything... well ios 7.0.6 came out and I used my computer to restore the phone, because I feel that the cord and computer gives it a better restore, it did great no problems, and when it went to the part where I went to activate the phone, I get a enter your apple id and password to complete activation... Wait... why is this up i thought, I thought I did everything like I suppose to to succesfully switch it to me, the new owner... but now its asking for some C******@yahoo.com.... I only have @gmail.com emails and none start with a C... The guy sold me the phone because he was switching to Verizon, and I tried to call him, and now the number is disconnected... I guess he switched to Verizon with a new number... Now im stuck with a paperweight that costed me $200.00... What can I do at this point... Please help me... Hi, i had the same problem. Try to find the file "apple" or "itunes" don't know it anymore exactly. Ahm well you need to delet any information or just plug in your iphone into an other computer. important is that your iphone never has been pluged in this computer before. This was what i did, and it worked!

By far the most common problem hardware-wise seems to be scuffs on the aluminium. Yours is the first report of a faulty screen I've seen.
If you use the same Apple ID on both devices it'll sync whatever you want it to - music/apps/photos/messages/etc.

Try this from MacFixIt as well:
In the case of drive directory damage or problems with permissions, the solution is usually to use Apple's Disk Utility to repair the disk. Of course, you won't be able to perform this operation normally (simply launching the Disk Utility application, located in Applications/Utilities, and initiating a disk repair) if your system will not startup. So two options exist:
* Insert your Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) media (DVD or CD) and restart the computer while holding down the "C" key. Once the computer has booted from the installation disc, select "Utilities" from the menubar and open Disk Utility. Repair the disk, then quit Disk Utility and restart your system.
* Alternatively, you can repair the disk while booted in single user mode if you do not have access to a retail Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) DVD/CD. To startup in single user mode, hold down the "Command" and "S" keys simultaneously at startup. Once properly booted, type the command fsck at the prompt. Repeat these process until no errors appear.

Can you open Adobe Reader by itself? If so, try disabling Protected Mode [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Restart your device
Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.

Also check that the ports 5353 and 5354 (Bonjour (mDNSResponder), AirPlay, Home Sharing, Printer Discovery) are open on Windows Firewall.
