Locked disk on iPhoto and MobileMe account???

I just updated my MacBook pro from Leopard to Snow Leopard. I was trying to import some photos to iPhoto 09 and it froze for about 5 minutes. I forced a quit on it but when I tried to reopen it I'd get a message saying that the disk is locked and I don't have permission to access or change it. I then went to my iDisk and it said to make sure I was logged into my MobileMe account. Problem is I don't know of I even actually have one! I'm confused! Any tips on how to get iphoto 09 back up would be greatly appreciated.

The rotated pictures usually occur with portrait photos that come from cameras with the auto rotate feature. I've not see landscape photos do that.
Export those two from the top row to the desktop as full size, max quality jpegs and open them in in Safari. Safari does not read the tag which tells applications how to display the photo. If the photos are OK in Safari then you can import them into iPhoto and use them to replace the original two.
As for the duplicates, I don't know. Here are some fixes you can try:
Backup the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1, #2 and #6.

I noticed that may of the photos are of low resolution when enlarged. Are you aware of that?

Aperture, iPhoto, and MobileMe

I use Aperture on my iMac. My wife uses iPhoto on her iMac and doesn't have Aperture. She has published a mobileme album to a gallery we share on one mobileme account. Is there a way to sync the mobileme gallery with Aperture on my computer and iphoto on her computer or do I have to sync to iPhoto on both? I was only able to find a setting in MobileMe to choose either iPhoto or Aperture. Thanks in advance for any help.

You might want to take this to the Mobile me forum (if there is one) as it seems its not really related to Aperture itself but more to how Mobile operates.

User settings and mobileme account removed upon user logout/login

On several occasions my touchpad settings and format settings (system preferences/international) had suddenly changed.(i.e. "tap to click", "drag" and "drag lock" all changed and so does the format from UK to USA). On these occasions I am also thrown out of my mobileme account and my idisk partitioning is removed. No other keychain setting seems to be affected. I wasn't sure what triggers this, and at first I thought it was due to a run down battery, which somehow changed the settings. However, I just noticed, that when logging out of my user account and back in, the settings are suddenly being changed.
Does anybody have an idea what is going on? This is rather frustrating, having to re-sync my idisk all the time.

You'll need to copy your /Home/Library folder. Make sure you back up first before doing the following. Log out of both your Work and Play accounts. Log in to a third account with administrator privileges. Assuming you are copying from the account called "work" to the account called "play", enter the following in Terminal:
sudo rm -rf ~play/Library (this deletes Play's Library folder.)
sudo cp -R ~work/Library ~play/Library (this copies Work's Library folder to Play's folder.)
sudo chown -R play ~play/Library (this fixes permissions of Play's new Library folder.)

Iphoto and mobileme

I've noticed that in iphoto my mobileme albums that sync with my albums on mobileme have disappeared. The albums are still on the web at my mobileme account and the preferences are checked to sync with iphoto, but still aren't there.
Any ideas?

Are the photos still in your library? Where is this "other folder"? Are you referring to an Event? When MMe went away and one upgraded iPhoto to the newer version the MMe/Web section was removed and replace by the iCloud section. No photos that have been inported into iPhoto previously were deleted from the library.

Iphoto and multiple accounts on same computer

I have two accounts/ users on my mac and each has an extensive iphoto library. I purchased iphoto Library Manager as suggesed. The problem is that when I am logged into Account A it cannot see the library in account B. I created a new library and merged account/user B photo library but when logged into Account A it still does not see the default library for B or the newly created library. I'm going in circles and racing the clock to back up and prior to convertingsystem to Lion by end of June. Any help out their?

Yes I want to merge them. I went to account B moved new library to Users shared and then went back to account A and clicked on harddrive symbol/ users/shared and I do not see it. I do see the two accounts listed separately. This all started by combining office and home computer into one.

Can't Change Lock Screen Background Image and User Account Picture in Windows 8.1.

I am running Windows8.1 Single Language with windows activated. Upgraded from Window 8 to Windows 8.1.

4th generation Intel® Core™ i7-4700MQ (2.40GHz 1600MHz 6MB) with 16GB RAM.
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT750M 2GB .
I tried all methods that I found on web included :

First of all, please run the command slmgr.vbs /dlv
After that, check the License status if it is licensed.
Is there any error message when you couldn't change lock background or this option just grey out?

Iphoto and MobileMe - duplicate pictures, distorted...

I posted this originally under MobileMe and have received no answers at all and it's more an iPhoto 11 issue I think.....
I'm having trouble with iPhoto and my MobileMe gallery. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
I upload photos to the MobileMe gallery from iPhoto 11. I just click on that share button in left corner. That goes fine.
But when I to go my mobileme gallery there are duplicates and some of the duplicates are distorted (and when you open them they are sideways). It has something to do with the feature that automatically uploads to my MobileMe. Even when I'm not clicking on the "share" button when I open iPhoto I can see on the left side where is says "library" then "Albums" below that is "web" and it gets that little sort of sync symbol each time I open iPhoto.
Once I close iPhoto, I go to MobileMe gallery and delete the duplicates and distorted photos and all is fine..... until I open iPhoto again then that sync symbol happens and it uploads the photos in that folder under "Web" (which is called Susan) and then I have the doubles and some distorted photos. Oddly when I look in the folder in iPhoto called "susan" under "web" in iphoto there are no duplicates or distorted photos. And it doesn't make duplicates of all of the photos in that "susan" folder under "web" in iphoto, just a few of them.
Take a look at the gallery: http://gallery.me.com/pixiegirl#100025 The problem is in the "pixie, family, friends" album.
In the top row, ""Cay and Ms Pix" is a duplicate and distorted. And the "Chris" pix is a duplicate. How do I make it so it stops update with the distorted pix every time I open iPhoto. And why since in iPhoto none of the pix are distorted or sideways are they distorted in MobileMe? If I delete the folder in iPhoto under "web" will it also delete the photos in MobileMe.
I'd just like to understand what the heck is going on here.

Disable iPhoto and Mobileme synchronization

How can I stop iPhoto synchronizing with mobileme? I have iPhoto 8.1.1.
I have used mobileme for a while but have only recently started to use iPhoto because I wanted to create a few books. Every time I start iPhoto it tries to resume downloading my old mobileme galleries (the photos in iPhoto have a "pending" status) and I do not want to do this. I don't even want to see my mobileme galleries in iPhoto. It even downloads galleries which I recently published using iPhoto and creates new events (my mobileme galleries are not necessarily the same name as my events) as it does so but those are duplicate events.

Have you got a solution to this problem, i am having this issue, and can't get a way to turn it off.

Sync Contacts between Exchange account and MobileMe account

On my iPad I use two different email accounts: one Exchange account with ActiveSync and one MobileMe account.
How can I consolidate or sync Contacts between the two accounts?
At least, I would like to be able to move contacts from my MobileMe account to my Exchange account. Is that possible?

You could each add the others iCloud to your devices as a secondary account in mail, contacts, calendars and just enable the services you wish to use.

Mail and mobileme account

Because I am a Mobileme subscriber, a Mobileme account automatically shows in my Mail account. I therefore have a Mobileme inbox which is totally redundant, and I would prefer not to have.
I am assuming that I can delete simply Mobileme from Mail account, however I fear that I might do something untoward.
I only use Mobileme for syncing iCal between my computer and my iPhone, and I never use Mobileme for emails.
By deleting Mobileme from Mail account, will this affect Mobileme syncing my iCal?

Just to be clear...to delete the Mobileme Account in Apple Mail I do the following:
Mail, then Preferences, then General and click on Mobileme Account and then hit "-" at bottom left hand of screen. That right?

So now I have iCloud and MobileMe accounts?

I only recently converted my MobileMe account to an iCloud account when I picked up an iPad running iOS 5. After following the instructions to complete the process I find I have an iClound email account as: [email protected], I expected to keep my original [email protected] MobileMe email address. I recently discovered that my old [email protected] email account is still active but must be set up on my iMac and iPad using Mail as a seperate MobileMe account.
I guess I wondering if I missed something during the conversion, specifically a prompt to keep my original email address. Is anyone aware of a way to consolidate these addresses or to cancel one of them?

You didn't convert it properly. The process is to go to http://me.com/move and follow the instructions, logging in with your MobileMe email address. Your email, calendars, contacts and bookmarks will be moved to iCloud; your iDisk will remain on MobileMe.
Your signature says you have 10.5.1; this is not compatible with iCloud - Lion 10.7.2 is required. It's possible to set Mail up manually to access iCloud email but no other iCloud facilities will work. If in fact you have Lion please amend you signature to prevent confusion when you ask a question.

IPhoto and MobileMe gallery

Since switching from MobileMe to iCloud I am unable to add a new album to my MobileMe gallery. If I do add a new album it is removed almost immediately.
I am also unable to 'share' it from MobileMe gallery before it is removed automatically almost immediately it is put on.
Could anybody explain why and how to fix this problem.

I would like to add to this thread. Same problems with updating to the iPhoto 11 and the "cloud". The photo's taken on my iPhone are displaying in my "Photo Stream", I add the photo's I want from the Photo stream to my iPhoto library stored locally, and then publish the album to mobile me.
Problem is, as soon as the seldected photo's are published to mobile me I go to the "web" pane on iPhoto in order to send an email to my friends that a new album is posted. As soon as I select "web" on the right hand selection pane in iPhoto 11, I receive the following:
iPhoto displays "The published album has been removed from Mobile me".
The album is saved from photo stream to my iPhoto album, but the selected photo's will not publish to mobile me. This is a problem with apples new Lion OS and iPhoto 11. One more example of how Apple has rolled out new products that are not ready. I moved from PC to Mac 10 years ago because of this same problem with PC software, now Apple has lost its way and is putting new software on the market that just doesn't work and I suspect the OS will become irrelevant agian if the company doesn't focus on what drew customers to their platform. So disappointed with Apple again...its becoming very common.

Push for both Exchange and MobileMe accounts

I have 2 accounts set up on my iPhone 3G:
1. MobileMe
2. Exchange via VPN
Exchange is my main account that is syncing mail/calendar/accounts
MobileMe is syncing only mail and bookmarks
When I got the iPhone i had the impression that push for both accounts worked perfectly.
But yesterday I noticed that mail does not arrive to either of them until I actually open Mail app on the iPhone and it starts checking it manually.
I checked push settings on the iPhone.
Out of 3 options for Push under Advanced Tab in the Push settings for Exchange server I have Push selected.
MobileMe tab in Advanced Tab in Push settings has only Fetch and Manually options (no Push option there). So I have Fetch selected.
General Push setting is on.
My default account is MobileMe (in Mail settings)
Any ideas why Push is not working? I would think it could be Apple's problem but my Exchange push is not working either.

I have the same set up as you and i am getting both accounts mail almost instantly after i send a test message to each of them...Although i'm not using a VPN -- my Exchange supports direct connection via the ActiveSync connection.
Mobile me was a bit sketchy at times, but over the last few days it's been great -- it good to see Apple worked things out.
As for the Exchange Push mail:
There is a small tweak you may need to do while at work and on an internal wi-fi network to get your Exchange mail faster:

Why does my memory use always max out and lock up. iPhoto and iTunes are the only apps open.

I also upgraded the momory to 8 gig and the problm is on going

Open Activity Monitor, Show:>All Processes, sort on CPU%, see if anything using too much CPU% when this happens, click on Memory tab, do you have many Pageouts? Click on the Disk Usage tab, how much free space?
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts?
