Locked Image Files - Adam#1

Here's the situation....
Creating an iWeb site using the Gazette template for my college website. Everything is great until I want to change a published site on the college's non-Mac server. I can publish to my folder on the server great, but when I try to update the folder it tells me I don't have permission to trash the COLUMN DIVIDER image file in the IMAGE FOLDER. That's the only file I can't update on this PC Server.
So everytime I want to publish again...I publish to my SITE USER folder....open up my folder on the non-pc server.....physcially trash everything but the COLUMN DIVIDER file, and then copy everything around that file.....
It works dandy, but annoying...
Any problems with that COLUMN DIVIDER creating a locked file...which it doesn't look like in the Info box?
Any suggestions?

Hi Adam...
Another workaround that might make your site updating life easier is to use an FTP program like Captain FTP ( http://captainftp.xdsnet.de/ ) that actually has a syncronizing function built in to the upload function. This will allow you to upload only the files that have changed in your sitefolder. And since this "column divider" image file seems to be a template file, it will always be present in your sitefolder. So once it is uploaded, it is there for good...no need to delete and upload another copy, etc.
Lots of people around here using Captain FTP for its sync function. For iWeb, I believe there is a setting that you need to disable....do a search in this forum...I think it is syncronize by date or something like that.

Locked Image Files in Bridge

When I was working in Photoshop CS2 yesterday, I opened Bridge to look at some image files. I wanted to rate some of the images with color labels. Several of the image files had the "Lock" icon and would not allow me to rate the image.
I have no idea how the file got locked. I'm the only one who uses my home computer. How do I unlock the image file?

Not sure if this is the answer, but maybe the file is labeled "read only". For example files copied from CDs will always have a read-only attribute. To remove it, go to File > Properties in your file manager, and uncick the box next to "read-only."

How to see all image file types when saving images without selecting "all files"

Hallo, and thank you fom reading.
I am a person who saves a lot of images online in different folders with different names like G - 456 or F - 35.
I have been using firefox 10.0.2 for a long time because of a bug (I guess) that made it easier to save images.
When I saved an image it would always show me all the image files in any folder I wanted to save it, and that way making it easier for me to save files with the right names.
Now with the newer firefox (currently 19.0) whenever I try to save a JPEG I only see the JPEG files in the folder and only way to see the others is by selecting "save as type" all files, but with this I also see all the files that are not images.
This used to save me a lot of trouble and a bit of time but I dont see anything in the options menu that can help me. Is there a way to recreate this function?

I suspect this is a Windows problem. I am surmising the FilePicker uses the Operating System or Desktop facilities. Does Windows 7 offer any other file categories like ''images'' ?
I do not normally use Windows 7, but may the option depend upon the directory being an indexed one, I ask after finding this thread ''Bring File types tab back'' [http://www.windows7taskforce.com/view/819]

Can I filter down to "locked images" in LR 5?

I shot a job on a Canon 5D mark II, and edited the job in camera by setting the program>set feature to lock specific images. Is there a way for Lightroom 5 to filter down to these "locked" images? Thanks

Unfortunately, Lr doesn't have any way of locking files and no filters to find them

How to I lock a file so that it can't be editored by someone else?

I have done a large file for a sign and I don't want the sign company to be able to edit the file. The image is 3m x 1m so it's a large file.

Having the file saved as a Photoshop PDF would allow you to password lock the file for edits, yet still print it commercially.
I have High Quality Print as a preset, but there is a Press Quality setting.

Then I created a disk group:

I did all this operations from NODE1.
What is happening now is that everytime I try to read something from new diskgroup FROM NODE2 I get the ORA-01157:
ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock data file 13 - see DBWR trace file
ORA-01110: data file 13: '+STORE/evodb/datafile/store.256.719232707
No problem to read from NODE1.
The simple query on dba_data_file work from NODE1 and fails from NODE2 with the ORA-01157.

Is it possible to Lock images

Is it possible to lock images and only allow the user to edit the text boxes?

Users can't typically "edit" images... Definitely not with Reader.
To apply even more protection you can use a Security Policy (File -
Properties - Security) and forbid any editing of the file, except
filling-in form fields.

My image files will NOT show up when I import them

I CANNOT see my image files when I import them. This is the case regardless of whether I import them directly from my image files, or from my Flash library. They WILL NOT show up in the stage area, although the panel on the right shows the file! What can I do to correct this? I am using Flash CS4 which I need for my Digital Design classes through the Art Institute of Pittsburgh! I will FAIL this course if I can't get this program to work properly!!

Here are a few things to check:
Do you have anything else on Stage that might be covering them up? Is your target layer locked? Is the layer visibility turned off?
Are you doing this in an existing document, or a brand new document?

Time Machine (OSX) doesn't back up files in Mount Point or Disk Image File

Hi all,
I have two disk images which are scripted to be mounted on login. These two disk images are always mounted to the same location. These two disk images are encrypted TrueCrypt volumes.
Time Machine (TM) will only back up the disk images the first time they are mounted, but not after that. As I modify documents within the volumes throughout the day, the modified timestamps are adjusted properly. However, TM does not back them up. TM never backs up the mount points which are two folders within my home directory.
Any ideas as to why neither the mount point or the image files are backed up? Do the image files have to be closed (unmounted) after being modified for TM to back them up?
Now if TM won't back up the image files because they are locked/open, then why does it back them up the first time even though they are mounted? Also, from what I've read, TM should back up any HFS+ drive which is mounted. Both these drives are HFS+, so it should back up the mount points? I can verify this by doing a 'mount' in the terminal, the following is echo'd back:
/dev/disk0s2 on / (hfs, local, journaled) (Main System Drive)
/dev/disk1 on /Users/username/Folder1 (hfs, local, nodev, nosuid, journaled, noowners, mounted by username) (First TrueCrypt volume)

Here is the resolution:
Apparently time machine checks the parent folder's timestamp before moving into that folder to look for modified files.
So as I was modifying files, the timestamps on the volumes were changing but not the containing directory. Because of this, TimeMachine saw the parent directory had not changed, so did not look for the changed volumes inside.
So to resolve this, I wrote a simple touch script which touches the parent directory to match the modified volumes timestamp (if there is a modified volume).

Are you trying to import the image on the client into Oracle lite, or from the server end into the main oracle database for download to the client?
On our system images are loaded into the the oracle lite database (10g R1 at the moment) on the client (DELL X50 PDA's) into a BLOB (Not LONG RAW) column using Java (relatively standard functionality in Java) as this is what our application software is written in.
From the server end, we do not at the moment load images as such, but we do load the application software into the database for deployment of new versions to the clients (the DMC/DMS updates we have found very unreliable), and the technique should be the same for images. Again the file is imported into a BLOB column.
NOTE a column defined as BLOB on the main Oracle database appears as a LONG VARBINARY on the client Oracle lite database, but the synchronisation process handles the conversion with no problem.
To import into a BLOB column on the server try the following
1) you will need to create a DIRECTORY (CREATE DIRECTORY command) within the database, pointing at a directory on the database server (or accessible from it). This is needed for the file location.

Aperture installation deleted all image files from MacBook Pro.

After installing Aperture 3, I noticed that all the image files I had on my MacBook Pro immediately disappeared. These were stored in various locations throughout my computer depending on subject (e.g. "Emergency Response Training", "Summer 2009", "Car Restoration" and so on). A small number were in the "Pictures" folder but most were kept in other locations. All the folders and subfolders where these images were stored are intact but the images are gone. There is simply a "thumbs.db" file inside and the folder size is about 6 kb on average.
I did nothing other than install Aperture (no importing or library creation) and none of these images or folders are in the Aperture library. A similar thing happened with iPhoto where all my iphoto thumbnails show up but there appears to be no actual photo. No images prior to Aperture installation appear anywhere on the Macbook using tailored queries with "Find".
Apple support indicated that Aperture would not search out these photos unless prompted and would never delete them but It's hard to imagine how else this could have happened, as it happened only during installation (subsequent photos are fine) and targeted all image files in every location. Hard drive is new and indicates no problems.
Any ideas what might have happened - and, more importantly, how I might be able to recover the missing images? Unfortunately, my upgrade to Lion obliterated my DNS 321 back up disk, as well, and I don't yet know if I can recover those files.

Apple support claimed it was impossible for Aperture to delete files, as well, Allen. All I can tell you is I installed Aperture and the files immediately disappeared. I installed Aperture with the intention of learning its capabilities over the ensuing months, as I had never used it before, and so made sure to do nothing but install and launch so I could have a look at it and see how it was set up.
The network hard drive obliteration occured when I was trying to transfer novie files from my Macbook to my DNS 321 network drive, which I use to store all my backups and most of my media files. I've done this countless times with Snow Leopard without a hitch. However, when I tried it with Lion the system locked up during the transfer and I lost my connection to the drive. Once I managed to reconnect, I found that I couldn't get into the folders on the network drive anymore. All that would come up was a "My Documents" folder, which had no content. After doing a websearch I discovered that Lion no longer supports DNS 321 and that others with similar style drives had been having similar problems. What might be unique to my situation was that when I hooked up an old PC to the DNS 321 I was able to get back into my original folder set up but I found that the folders labelled from (A to J) were missing entirely and that the remaining folders had no content.
So, as I mentioned in my first post, the only input from me was installation and launch of Aperture and the only thing I was doing with my network drive was transferring movie files from the Macbook to the DNS 321 drive. If neither of those actions could possibly have caused the problems I described, I'd be very eager to learn what did.

Question/Request in camera locked images

On tight news deadlines I often do my edit in camera by locking/tagging the best pictures that I want to import quickly - often just a dozen or so from hundreds of RAW frames. I do not want to sit and wait while hundreds of RAW files are loaded into Lightroom.
It appears Lightroom 4 still does not recognize locked images on the import screen, unlike Aperture and Photo Mechanic.
I want to be able to import only those locked images that i selected in camera. And/or be able to import every image and select the locked pictures within the Library.
At the moment I get round this by using Photo Mechanic to select the locked pictures (without importing) and dragging them all over into Lightroom where the import box shows my selections, and i just import the few selected files.
Anybody else work this way?

IDVD burning to DVD media versus Image file subsequently written to DVD

Can someone explain why I am experiencing trouble with DVD's which are produced from copying an image using disk utility after I use iDVD to create an image of the DVD projects, but when I write an iDVD project directly to DVD, the same problems do not arise?
The problems are tiling, locking up in standard DVD players and an inability of the DVD player to recognize the DVD as a viewable DVD. Note that the image files and DVDs derived from it are capable of being read in a computer, but perform badly or not at all in standard DVD players for TV.

I have tried the slowest burn speed and use TDK discs. I have wondered if it might be the drive itself. Oddly enough, when the DVD is written from iDVD there are lead in and lead out processes which may not be associated with an image file, though I'm not sure about the latter.

Creat Lock Image...Remote Desktop 3

I have remote desktop 3 and I am trying to put a self made lock image on the computers when they are locked. I went and created it and saved it as a jpg and put it on all the computers that I lock but when I go to lock them it still shows the default lock image. I looked through the manual and did exactly what it said. Has anybody else had this problem or know how to fix it??

The procedure in the manual doesn't work. It's a bug in ARD 3 that has yet to be fixed. For now, the only way seems to be to swap out the Lock.jpg file located in
/System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/AppleVNCServer.bundle/Contents/
Support/LockScreen.app/Contents/Resources

If image file not exist in image path crystal report not open and give me exception error problem

code is working but i have proplem
if image not exist in path
crystal report not open and give me exception error image file not exist in path
although the employee no found in database but if image not exist in path when loop crystal report will not open
how to ignore image files not exist in path and open report this is actually what i need
