Locked iPhone 3g from Vodafone

My brother bought locked iPhone 3g from Vodafone Egypt and now he won’t to move to another carrier,
but iPhone is locked to Vodafone Egypt
and they say we are not authorized to unlock your iPhone to all carriers.
How can I unlock my brother iPhone even if I will pay fees?

I think he wanted to say they are expected to offer phone official unlock since Vodafone Egypt sells Iphones at the full price of the factory unlocked units sold in many other countries.
I am in the same boat as he is; however I took an extra step and discussed this with Vodafone Egypt; since the phone I bought from them is about 4 years old now and of course I moved to a newer one (factory unlocked this time ) and I am still their customer anyways.
Vodafone Egypt responded they don't mind unlocking the phone (as an exception since they don't officially offer this option); however they said they don't have the software needed to perform the unlock, they suggested I should contact Apple directly and they will be more than happy to authorize the unlock if contacted by apple.
Now Apple, can you help with this one ?

Can I take a faulty iphone 4 from Vodafone store to Apple store genius?

I purchased an iphone 4 from a vodafone store in the UK and the microphone does not work for video and speaker phone. Can I take this to an apple store for repair/replacement or does it have to be through the retail store I purchased from (who tell me they won't have replacements for ages)?

Booked into genius tomorrow at Brighton apple store but not holding much hope they will have a replacement iPhone 4 to hand if it needs to be replaced!

I'm ready to just pay an administrative fee to Fido, but they told me about first owner again.

TS1559 I've had 2 replacement Iphone 4S from vodafone in 3 days, both had this issue, no reset works - whats going on ?

Do we know what the root cause is for this issue ? Does it need a software update from apple to resolve ? I have a 3rd replacement phone arriving tomorrow, I'm losing confidence that I'll ever connect to the Wifi !

If it is a wifi connection that is most likly a software issue. Try this:
IOS Restore Steps

Restoring your iOS device
Connect your device to your computer.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes. Select the Summary tab, and click the Restore button.
Click Restore.
After a restore, the iOS device restarts. You should then see "Slide to set up". Follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant.
If needed, restore your device from a previous backup.

No can help you. Only the carrier a phone is locked to can inititate the unlock, so you would have to take this up with Verizon.
Also, the Verizon is a CDMA phone, and the CDMA radio will not be unlocked. Verizon can unlock the GSM radio so you can use a non-Verizon SIM card and service, but again, you need to contact Verizon about that as only they can do it.

when i was visiting for purchasing this device the sales team told me that the phone is unlocked and can use all around the world with any other network when i'm trying to use it other network it showed that NO SERVICE(at network issue) and then i made a call 2 apple customer support so the executive told me that this device has been locked with VODAFONE UK network. this was the FAKE commitment of sales team also its a CHEATING i must say that.
i'm very much disapointed and dissatiesfied with the APPLE STORE sales team...

I had read that thanks but many happy owners of locked iPhones
claim to have bought from an Apple store they do not actually mean
Apple Retail
Arndale Centre is one of the largest Malls in Europe and every vendor of iPhones is there
Apple retail in UK ONLY sell unlocked iPhones unless you opt for a contract at a reduced price
not something you can do accidently as in sim free in US

I bought my iPhone 4 from an Apple store a couple of years ago and understood it to be unlocked. Now I am changing provider and it appears to be locked. I have tried the new SIM card with other phones and it is okay. Originally I was with Vodafone and have recently moved to GiffGaff as I reached the end of my contract. The iPhone won't start up instead it says "Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported carrier's store to receive a replacement SIM card."Although my number has been ported across I place the old SIM back in the iPhone and it starts up. Can anyone offer any advice?

Apple sell unlocked but they will also sell an iPhone with a contract
especially back in iPhone 4 days
If you purchased fron an Apple Retail store ( Apple owned) and paid
full price it should be unlocked as your Apple receipt should show
If not , it is locked but (if in UK ) Vodafone do offer unlocking .
Do a deep search of their site and you will find guidance not easy to find

The ONLY place that can unlock the iphone is the carrier to which it is locked.
You would have to contact Vodafone in Spain.

No. Vodaphone Egypt and Vodaphone Qatar are two different carriers. They have the same parent company, but you can not use a phone locked to Vodafone Egypt with a Vodafone Qatar SIM.

If your iPhone is locked to a wireless provider, only that wireless provider
can unlock it. Contact the wireless provider in Hong Kong to see if they
offer unlocking and if you qualify.
If your iPhone is locked to an AppleID that you do not know, return it for
a refund as it is useless. Only the person whose AppleID was used for
activation can remove the lock. There is no workaround for Activation Lock.
If neither of the above is what you are facing, provide more detail so someone

£750 bill from Vodafone as iPhone sent 20GB last month, please help!

I have just received a shock data bill from vodafone. Apparently my iPhone has been using between 500 MB - 1GB a day for the last month.
I have had the phone for almost 18 months and cannot work out why this has suddenly happened. I have not downloaded a new app or changed my usage at all.
I checked the phone and it states that it has sent 20.7 GB of data, and received 1.7 since last reset (October).
I only use the phone for calls, texts, and social networking. I have wifi at home and barely use cellular data.
I contacted Vodafone as I wish to dispute the bill (I am happy to pay for what I have used, but I cannot see how I have used this!)
They state that if I can show it is a software issue, they will write off the £750. At first they suggested I send it to them and they would check if it was software or a fault, until they realised it was out of warranty, then they said they can't look at it unless I pay £150.
They suggested giving apple a call, but I looked on website and to call them will be £25 and I am not sure if it will resolve the issue.
What can I do? The phone is still on iOS 6.0, I realise the data issue could possibly be resolved by updating, but am reluctant to do this before the phone is checked out (if I can get apple to check it out). For the time being I have restricted all data to wifi.
Is it likely to be a fault/software issue? I have not sent any files anywhere etc. If I drive to my nearest apple store (at least an hour away) will they look at it/are they likely to help/admit it is software and give me some proof for vodafone?
Please help!!

Contact the Apple store directly (or Verizon) as Apple (nor Verizon for that matter) monitor these forums.
