Weeks ago I bought an iPhone 4 from a friend and he said that the phone is locked to Orange(France) i checked the IMEI and I saw that the phone has 1 year left on until the contract ends.Is it possible to unlock the iPhone and how much will it cost?Is is possible to be unlocked for free?

I know and I tried but they told me some stupid things that made me angry and I was just wondering if someone here know a better solution.A friend of mine told me that it is possible to be unlocked after the third month of the contract so all I am asking is if someone from Apple is able to see this to contact me and tell me if it is possible to unlock my iPhone without talking with the carrier?Also I dont know any info about the past of the phone.

It reads as though a bonehead bought the phone. Regardless, remove the SIM, and the carrier's name may be printed on it. Too, you can try an Apple store, and have someone check its serial number database. The database will indicate in which country the iPhone was initially sold, and to which carrier it was assigned.

There is nothing anyone can do for you.
You need the previous owners password to unlock the phone. If you can't get that, then your phone is useless.
Nobody, not even Apple, can unlock it for you.

Bought a blocked iphone need help please?

I bought a iphone 4 off gum tree and when I went to pick up the phone was dead, I took it home and charged it only to find out that the iphone is blocked and has a 4 digit pin that I can't unlock. How can I over come this issue and how much would it cost. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Uploading from iPhone - need help

When I attempt to upload a photo from my iPhone to my Web Gallery, I get the following error message on the iPhone:
"None of your .Mac accounts have been configured for posting from mobile devices. You must first enable this feature on the .Mac website"
Any idea how I "enable this feature" as I can't seem to find it anywhere on my .Mac homepage or account info, etc.

I really need help trying to show when members have logged in. This is my second post and and the code that I was given, didn't work and now I can't get anyone to tell me what is wrong with it. Here is the code and error message:

Stollen iphone, need help tracking

So i got my iphone 3gs stollen today, it has no sim card but i have many apps that can connect to wifi, such as twitter, facebook, youtube, live profile,gamecenter, also think i was logged in google but didnt sign up for gmail. I told my buddy to check if i was online on live profile and it said i was available (live profile says your available if your connected to wifi). so i told my buddy to message me on live profile and the guy displayed the message. any help on how i can track my iphone or his ip address down from any of those apps. need help asap thanks.

I'm very sorry to hear that. The best way is to use the MobileMe "Find my phone" feature. However, this only works if you set up your phone with a free MobileMe account. If you did, then you can display your phone's location on a map pretty accurately.

This means you have 4Gb of photos in your trash.
Go to Photos - recently deleted (an option in the same menu as "camera roll" and "photo stream") and finally delete the photos.
The 4Gb of space will then be cleared.

Run Away/Locked Computer - Need Help

I have a vexing problem that I do not understand how to fix. I am not much of a computer expert; so, I would really appreciate help from one of you experts.
PROBLEM: Whenever I make any changes to iCal my iMac fan soon starts to run very loudly and the iMac soon virtually locks up.
DIAGNOSTICS: To better understand what is occurring, I used the Activity Monitor. When I make a change in iCal two programs appear on the Activity Monitor. First iCalExternalSync appears and shortly thereafter SyncServer appears.
When iCalExternalSync appears it captures over 70% of the CPU, grabs about 120 MB of real memory, and the fan begins running VERY loudly. After an additional few minutes, SyncServer appears. Shortly thereafter iCalExternalSync reduces CPU usage to less than 5% (but keeps the 120 MB of real memory) and SyncServer now takes about 80% of the CPU and about 130 MB of memory. If I allow the process to progress this far, the fan is Very loud and the iMac has become unresponsive.
TEMPORARY FIX: I can return the iMac to operational status by killing iCalExternalSync and SyncServer via the Quit Process command in the Activity Monitor.
HELP REQUESTED: Given the information provided, I would appreciate any suggestions about how to fix this problem.

You don't mention what you are actually syncing with.
Are you using iSync to sync with a locally connected third-party mobile phone or PDA?
Or are you using *MobileMe Sync* to sync to the MobileMe "cloud" and/or another Mac/iPhone/iPod touch?

Locked iphone 4 help

i purchased iphone 4 sim free used an o2 sim to activate now apple tell me it is now locked to o2. o2 are refusing to unlock it for me and apple dont seem to want to help i thought sim free neant you could use any sim but obviously not i just want to use my orange sim but it wont accept it any help would be appreciated

The whole idea of a sim free phone is just that. It can be used with a sim from any network that supports the type of network the phone is compatible with as it is unlocked. Putting a sim from one network into a sim free phone will not automatically lock it to that network. Have you actually tried an Orange sim in the phone ?

Custom ALERT TONE for iphone need HELP please.

I understand how to create a custom TONE as an M4R file and import into itunes into the TONES library.
When i sync my TONES to my iPhone, it lists as a RING tone.
My custom ring tones, which are approximately 10 sec long work just fine when set as my RING tone for incoming calls.
HOWEVER ....
What i am DESPERATELY trying to do is create a custom ALERT tone and have it LIST as an ALERT tone in my phone and NOT a ring tone. Seems custom tones do not work for sms alerts.
I searched EVERYWHERE and can not seem to find an answer. I realize apple wants us all to BUY alert tones, but i should be able to create my own too no?
I created some custom alert tones, approximately 1 sec long each. Converted them to M4R files and sync'd them to my phone.
In my phone they appear under the RING TONES list and not ALERT TONES.
Maybe this dosent matter, however, when i try to set my TEXT ALERT SOUND to one of my custom ALERT tones, they do NOT work. My text messages come in without playing the sound.
Can ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME figure out how to properly create a TONE as an ALERT TONE for my iphone?

I've never been able to assign custom tones under alerts. It doesn't matter though as you can assign ringtones as alerts as of iOS 5 I believe. I had a similar issue with silent alerts, sometimes they would play, other times theywouldn't, but they would always play when selecting them under settings. Resetting all settings (not content) has so far fixed that issue for me. Try resetting your settings after you've synced your tones.

New to iphone need help with entourage and tasks

Just got my direct fulfillment iphone today. i am trying to get my entourage 2004 info to my iphone. By following:

I am using my personal iMac running leopard without mobile me. I can see my calendar and my contacts, but I can not figure where my tasks would even show up.
So, here are my questions:
1. Is there a better method for syncing this info?
2. should my tasks show up and where?
3. Do the same steps work with office:mac 2008? If not what is different?
4. Any other helpful info?

Settings > Sounds > New Mail, make sure it's ON. Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Fetch New Data > set it to an interval such as Every 15 minutes. Your phone will check for new mail at that interval, and if there is new mail, your phone will sound an alert and vibrate.
You are accessing your account via POP (the only way to access Hotmail using the iPhone's mail app), so it cannot be 'linked' such that changes on one device are reflected on other devices - that's a function of IMAP email, and Hotmail does not support IMAP.
