Locked out for 8 hours

Hi I just purchased an iPhone 5, I know my apple ID and password, but forgot the answers to the security questions
I have now been locked out for 8 hours,  so dissapointed,
I did not have a recovery email address setup but I have done so now,  is there any way to fix the problem
or must I wait the 8 hours to use the new iPhone5

  • My iphone 5s was dead for 2 weeks then i turned it back on and it says its locked out for 22 million hours I have tried restoring it 5 times and it just goes back to the same page what do you suggest I do

Iphone locked out for 22 million hours and restoring doesnt work what do I do

    @soccercole1
You need to restore you iPhone via iTunes on your computer.  If you do not remember your passcode you have to place the iPhone in recovery mode in order to restore it.  For recovery mode see:

  • My daughter cannot remember her passcode for her iPhone 5. She needs a phone number that is stored in the phone and cannot remember her passcode. we have tried many groups of numbers and now we are locked out for an hour each time we put in the wrong pass

My daughter is out of the country until May. She did not take her iPhone 5 with her. Now she needs a phone number that is stored
in the memory and cannot remember her passcode. I have tried all of the possibities that she e-mailed , but none of them work
and now I am locked out for an hour each time I enter an invalid passcode. Help? How can I get around this to access the phone?

  • I mistyped my security answers and now i'm locked out for 8 hours on my pas? Really

A little frustrated with such a "genius" company. Mistyped my apple security answers o my new ipad and now i'm locked out for 8 hours! Solutions, even the custoer help couldn't help!

I don't know if Apple is a "genius" company, but it's standard practice in for internet firms like Apple and AT&T to lock down the password on accounts that show repeated attempts at accessing accounts. So far as the computer is concerned, you could be a user - or a hacker.
We've all forgotten our share of passwords. You can always request a new password from Apple. Or you can invest in a password management utility like 1Password that automatically remembers your passwords.

  • I'm trying to set up an iPad for work and the apple id I was trying to use came back expired. I set a new password and then it said it was invalid. Now I'm locked out for too many tries answering security questions that I don't remember setting up. Help!

I seem to be stuck in apple ID ****. First the password was expired only two minutes after I finished setting up the account and then the new password was invalid.  I don't know what to try next but this is making me crazy.  And I'm locked out for eight hours for too many attempts at answering questions that I never set up in the first place. I don't know what gives but something is way off. I need to set up this iPad for work but I can't get past the login.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased. Some glitch occured and you have to restore/erse the iPod. Y will have to restore from an existing backup if y ohave one.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Mountain Lion purchased from Mac store will not download. 'Downloading' simply stays greyed out for hours.  Nothing I do changes it.  I am running OS 10.6.8 on a 2010 Mac Mini.  What do I do now?

If you are looking at the front page of the App Store and you are seeing the "downloading" message on the right under Quick Links.
Try this... Go into the "Purchases" section in the top bar of the App Store find ML in the list you are presented with. Does it say Resume? If so click the button and it will change to Pause. You may have paused it previously and forgot.
If not then do as Csound1 suggested and simply wait for it to finish

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
When your account becomes disabled, Apple provides the following recommendation:
"This message means that someone tried and failed to sign in to your account multiple times. The Apple ID system disables the account to prevent unauthorized people from gaining access to your information. You need to reset your password, following the instructions at the Apple ID website".
Visit iForgot.com and follow the instructions there.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If that doesn't help you might try contacting Apple through iTunes Store Support

hello can you please help me unlock my phone i need it and its locked out for 60 mins what casn i do my computer doesnt want to let me sinc it

You will have to restore it form Recovery Mode as it states in the artcile that brought you here.
Alternatively, place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

my family shares one apple id among 4 devices. how do i make it IMPPOSSIBLE for my children (i pad mini and i pod touch 5) to view my contacts and texts while still sharing my apps? please help. been working on this for hours.

Delete your account in 1. "Settings > iCloud" + 2. "Settings > Messages > Send & Receive" + 3. "Settings > FaceTime", but still let them using your account for iTunes and app purchases in "Settings > iTunes & App Stores". Of course, please make sure that they do not know your password to set up your account for iCloud again or purchase anything alone.

  • Crap forgot one security questions now I am locked out for 8 hours!?!?!?

Any one else click on send me the the link to reset the password and you dont receive anything? I have done it at least 10 times and still no email sent from APPLE....  I even have a back up email and nothing on either account. Help please...

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • TS2446 Locked out for 8 hours incorrect security questions

How to change security questions when you don't know the answers?

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then see if this user tip helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then try Apple ID Account Security
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down this page to add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
