Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • HT4113 passcode locked out (iPod Touch)

I forgot my passcode and tried to log in too many times - now I'm completely locked out. I connected my iPod Touch to my computer, downloaded updates, synced, etc to iTunes. When I go to back up - it says it can't - need the passcode to back up. Advice? Thanks!

If You Are Locked Out Or Have Forgotten Your Passcode or Just Need to Restore Your Device

      2. iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
      3. iOS- Understanding passcodes
      4. What to Do If You've Forgotten Your iPhone's Passcode
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the
Back Up option. If you have just backed up the device, it is not necessary
              to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup. If you do not have a
backup to restore, then restore as New.
If you are restoring to fix a forgotten Restrictions Code or as a New device, then skip Step 9 and restore as New.

  • I locked my ipod touch, forgot my passcode, how do i unlock it, when i get error code 3194

help me please, i locked my ipod touch, and forgot my passcode, i keep getting error code 3194, help please

From this Apple support document: iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
This device is not eligible for the requested build: Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194." If you receive this alert, update to the latest version of iTunes. Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, follow Troubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to perform unauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. First you must uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer, then edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from the hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect.  For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the headingBlocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart. Also, using an older or modified .ipsw file can cause this issue. Try moving the current .ipsw file, or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.
Error 3194: Resolve error 3194 by updating to the latest version of iTunes. "This device is not eligible for the requested build" in the updater logs confirms this is the root of the issue. For more Error 3194 steps see: This device is not eligible for the requested build above.

  • How do I lock my ipod touch if it was stolen

Hi, How do I lock my ipod touch if it was stolen?

You can only remotely lock it IF you had an iCloud account installed and IF you had enabled the "find my iPod" setting for that iCloud account.  If that was done before it was stolen, you might be able to log in to your iCloud account in a web browser and lock it.  If it is not connected to a wifi data network though, you cannot do anything to it remotely anyway.
Of course, if it was unlocked to begin with, the thief has had full access this whole time, so locking it now might be largely pointless.  The thief may also have gone in and simply disabled the "find my iPod" setting, making it untrackable anyway.
Really, the time to apply a passcode lock is BEFORE the device is stolen or lost - after the fact is largely a waste of time.  Much the same as locking your house doors after you've been robbed.

  • My daughter used a password to lock her ipod touch and she can't remember it. Is there a way to reset the password. Thank you for any assistance

My daughter used a password to lock her ipod touch and she cannot remember it. How do we unlock her ipod. Any assistance is wonderful

To circumvent an iPod with a forgotten passcode you would need to restore the iPod to factory settings. This will remove the software and data/content from your iPod as well.
To put your iPod/iPhone  into recovery mode:
    1. Make sure the iPod/iPhone is connected to a computer with iTunes installed on it.
    2. Hold down the sleep/wake button(top button) and the home button at the same time until the iPod/iPhone screen goes black then shows the apple logo( usually 10-15 seconds).
    3. Once the apple logo appears on the screen, let go of the sleep/wake button and keep holding the home button.
    4. The ipod/iphone screen should show an itunes logo and usb cable if you were successful. A dialog box will appear in iTunes that states an iPod/iPhone in recovery mode has been detected if you are successful.
    5. Click ok, then click the Restore button
After that you should be up and running in no time!
I hope that this is helpful.

  • Volume lock on Ipod Touch 2G

The Auto-Lock locks the display but how do I lock the volume. Just bought the 2G Ipod touch yesterday and wanted to take it out jogging today, but it was super annoying as the volume just keept going up and down. How can those two buttons be locked like the rest of it?

A case might be an idea, but it should work without. I have just posted feedback to Apple and will see what they come back with.
I wouldn't expect that something that simple would have been taking away. It worked on all the old Ipods with the external lock/unlock.

  • Shorted out iPod Touch.

i know this is probably the wrong place to have this.
i have a friends iPod touch (2nd Gen) that is broken and i thought i could help them out! but i tried about everything. I plug the iPod in to charge it or to give it some life, and all it does is flash a white screen. i held down both the home and Lock button for 10 seconds and over a min; nothing. charging dosnt do anything. wont show up in iTunes either. oh and i jsut found out, that by having it plugged in for over 5 minutes to "try" and charge it; its is WAY too hot! hotter than normal. i could hardly hold it. i think my friend might have blown something internally on it =\. Thoughts? ideas? thanks! OH also i am going to take it to Apple Really soon. is this my best bet?
    Thanks!

It might be a battery problem. Go to an Apple Store and they'll fix if it's in on his warranty.
    Let It Breathe:
Charging your iPod while in certain carrying cases may generate excess heat, which can affect battery capacity. If you notice that your iPod gets hot when you charge it, take it out of its case first.
