Rang help desk wednesday15th July 5pm to advise i am locked out of email account upon return from OSWas advised yes, I was locked out due to hack attempt and that I would receive call/email (to gmail account) with 48 hrs to advise on how I could gain access to email account.Rang Thurs 16th July to again se how it was going, was told to wait untill Fri 17th for information to be sent.Used live chat to help desk 17th July 5pm to see what was going on.Yes, I am locked out and I would be advised within 4 business days of what was happening.4 business days with weekend = 1 week. And that was just to tell me what was going on, not an actual fix.This is my business email.I have 3 weeks of emails from clients, contractors and customers awaiting my action.I have wasted 3 plus hours trying get a answer.This is a problem of Telstras making.There is no weather issue holding up fix. There is no cable or harware that needs a tech to go and fix. This is a procedual problem that suits Telstras insterests, not mine. Telstra seems unwilling to fix this problem.Any attempt to have it escallated or get someone to call me that can solve the problem is refused.Appalling.

    Yep I tried that as well. It asks me for a password every time I open email. If I check to have Keychain remember it then the password is not recognized. If I do not check it the email acct. will open but I have to put the password in every time I use it. Very frustrating. I had Apple support helping to no avail and roadrunner support could not help. I have deleted and reinstalled it several times but only lost everything I had.

  • I am attempting to make my first purchase in the App store, yet it is asking me security questions I know I didn't enable and I keep getting locked out of my account despite resetting everything.

    What do I do? I need some crucial apps for classes that start in less than fourty-eight hours from now?

    If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
    Otherwise*, boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
    When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
    from the menu bar.
    In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
    Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
    Press return. A Reset Password window opens.
    Select your boot volume if not already selected.
    Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
    Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.

    Right then I’m coming to the end of my tether !!!
    I've got a user who needs to access a share on a Windows server. All is well and the user gets the challenge prompt but instead of letting him in it constantly challenges him locking out his windows account.
    Now the share is on a DC so i cant make him a local Admin and the only way i can get this working is to have him in the domain admin group which is NOT the way forward, so i'm looking at permissions i guess.

    You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.

    They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • Using firefox with yahoo toolbar I cannot access my hotmail button, it locks up my email account, I cannot read/delete emails or log out of account.

    I use the yahoo-firefox toolbar that has buttons you can access from the toolbar, mail etc. I have a button for Hotmail it goes to the account but locks up, it will not let me read/delete emails nor log out of my account. I can access it from another laptop that is not running the same versions of firefox/yahoo toolbar.

    Last but not least, for the site that has the problem:
    When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Clear Firefox's Cache
    orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
    On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
    If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    In the dialog that opens, you can open the site's cookies individually.
    Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    When your account becomes disabled, Apple provides the following recommendation:
    "This message means that someone tried and failed to sign in to your account multiple times. The Apple ID system disables the account to prevent unauthorized people from gaining access to your information. You need to reset your password, following the instructions at the Apple ID website".
    Visit iForgot.com and follow the instructions there.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
    Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)
