Locked out of my old Apple ID.

My first Apple ID was based on an old e-mail account that I no longer have access to.  I used this Apple ID to purchase songs on iTunes from 2005 until 2012 (625 purchases).  Since then, I have been told my password is incorrect and I need to reset it. However, I can't receive the "reset" e-mail as I don't have access to that account anymore. When I attempt to reset using personal details, the website tells me I have entered the wrong date of birth!  Customer Support say there is no way for them to verify my identity (even though I still have receipts for my very first iTunes purchases).  This means if I change computers in future I will be unable to authorise it to play my old purchases.  I have since opened a new Apple ID for my more recent purchases; however I don't want to lose all my old music.  Is there a way I could burn a "super CD" with all my music on it then rip it back on to iTunes so it won't require authorisation in the future?  Grateful for any suggestions.

I too had an older Apple Account and my son used it to purchase some things with a itunes gift card.  I lost access to the email but recently got access to it again.  I tried going through the reset password request process only to never receive an email.  So I figured I'd try setting up the account again with the same email address to see what happens.  It actually worked, and I could setup an account with that email again....but all the purchases are now gone.  Really is dumb that this can happen with no way of restoring past purchases.  I'm just glad I didn't have as many purchases as you did.  But now the stupid ipod won't update any of the apps that were bought and they are stuck in an 'update notification loop'...I can login but the apps never actually update and the notification keeps showing up on the icon.  He wants to sell the ipod off, and this might just be the thing that gets me to let him do it.  I won't be buying another one, that's for sure.

What do you mean you got locked out of the old phone before replacing it? Are you referring to your passcode, or something else. Could you supply more information and reword your question to better identify what is wrong? What were you doing, what appeared on the screen, what did you do?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)

I changed my apple Id email because I needed a more recent email and forgot my old password, now I need to sign out of my old Apple Id and don't know how. Help???

Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID.  If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.)  Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID).  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).

  • How to log out of my OLD apple ID on my 4s and use my new one?

When updating my iPhone 4s to the new ios7, my imessage stopped working as many others did. I finally got that fixed and as soon as that was fixed.. NOW my old apple id keeps popping up instead of my new one. I made my old one 5 years ago when i first got my macbook. How do I log out and stop using my old apple id?

To change the iCloud ID on your phone you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you have to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your phone, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

If you are unable to reset your password with the methods from the guide, you may reset a password with the following steps.
    1. Power on your computer holding down the Command and R keys. This will allow you to access OS X Recovery.
    2. Select Utilities at the top bar and then Terminal.
    3. In the Terminal window, type resetpassword and the password reset tool will appear.
    4. Select your hard drive and user account. Enter a new password, verify the password, and save.
    5. Restart your computer and sign into your account with the new credentials. You may receive a prompt update your keychain password. Since you do not know your password, select Create New Keychain.

    Hi Timothy Kolk,
Did you create a new Apple ID or rename the old one?
Either way, since the Apple ID can be used in many places, check out this article for help changing it in all the right places.

  • How do you sign out of your old apple id if your old id is no longer valid?

My old Apple id is no longer valid as the email I used has been discontinued by the service provider. I now use a new apple id to log onto my devices and FaceTime but unable to do the same for iCloud. It keeps asking for my old Apple id password which a) I have forgotten and b) i can no longer retrieve given as the old Apple id is invalid.
    What do i do?

If I have [email protected] (not my email nor Apple ID), & get rid of comcast so I no longer have access to the email, I log into appleid.apple.com  & rename it to [email protected] (not my email nor Apple ID). If I've forgotten to sign out of iCloud on my iDevices, all I have to do is log into appleid.apple.com  with [email protected], rename my Apple ID to  [email protected] (skip verifying) go to settings then iCloud & sign out (It will be your current password incase you didn't know...) it will allow you to do so..
If I on the other hand, create a NEW Apple ID & not rename it, best options to call apple & have them assist with trying to reset password so you can sign out.
It isnt made clear to me in his question. (In my opinion) He does say "my new Apple ID" but people can call their newly renamed emails/ Apple IDs, their new Apple ID..

  • What if I didn't sign out of my old Apple ID before I changed it and got a new one?!?!!?

So I decided to change my Apple ID, which I shouldn't have, on my laptop but I didn't sign out of my old one on my iPod Touch 5g so now it's causing problems!!!! I can't download apps!!! I also can't update apps!!!!! So could someone please help me please??!!? That would be great!!!!! This is very stressful!!!!

    Content and Apple IDs -
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with another Apple ID with a new ID.
    Apple ID security issues -
Call Apple Care and ask for the Account Security Team. They can assist you with your issue.

  • Locked out of my current Apple ID purchases

I just got my iPhone 6 Plus and I recently signed into my old Apple ID to download some movies. Now, when I go back to my current ID it says "This device is already associated with an Apple ID". What is going on? and why would I have to wait 90 days? I'm a HUGE music geek and NONE of my songs are showing on my iPod.
If I back up my phone, then restore it through an iCloud backup, set up a new ID and re-purchase iTunes Match through the new ID, will all my apps still be there? and will it be fixed?

  • How do i find an old apple id

is there any way to find out what my old apple id user name was? i was looking through my old ipod video and looked at all the songs that i purchased and i want them on my labtop. the problem is that i have an iphone and a new apple id user name and can not remember what my old one was. there has to be a way to be able to get thoughs songs. i did buy them, long time ago, but songs do not expire.

Perhaps you have an old email confirmation for the purchase of those songs?  That would  have your Apple ID.
Do any of your old purchased songs exist in your current iTunes library?  If you can find one such song, do a Get Info (right click Get Info) on the song in iTunes.  On the Info window's Summary screen, it shows the Apple ID used to purchase that song.
If that's not possible, you can use a third-party method or utility to transfer all song from your iPod to your computer's drive.  Do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer" to get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the songs are on you computer's hard drive, you can add them to your iTunes library.  If your old purchases from the iTunes Store were from the early days of the iTunes Store, the songs may have DRM (copy protection).  You will not be able to play or sync those older DRM'd songs unless you authorize your computer for the Apple ID used to make the purchase.  Now that the song is in your iTunes library, you can do a Get Info on the song to find the Apple ID used to make the purchase (as mentioned earlier).  The command to authorize your computer for that Apple ID is under  Store in the menu bar.
NOTE:  More recent iTunes Store song purchases do not use DRM.

  • Ipad tries to connect with old Apple ID.

I can not delete the old ID, because i changed my account to a new one because of password phishing (popular in germany since a few days).
ipad is asking me all the time via pop-up field for the password of the old apple id.
Cause of this, i can't use my iPad anymore. The Pop-Up is coming every 2 Seconds, asking to sign in into iCloud.
The bottom line is: How can i tell my ipad, that
    a.) I'm using a new Apple ID
b.) I can't sign out of my old Apple ID, because my password is gone. (For sure, i asked the Microsoft Support to re-create my account, but they are sleeping.
    Please help.

Ok, thank you. Now the App FindmyiPad is the problem. I can't delete the account without shutting down the App without the Password with my old Apple ID.
In case of a robbery good to know, cause i can't use the ipad now (because i just have a time window from max 1 second to set settings), but in my cause...it's horrible.

  • ICloud security lock out

I was checking emails on my iPhoone and was promptedt o enter password for Apple ID asscoiated with iCloud ....  I entered what I thought was the correct password ..  response was wron g password .. was redirectred to reset Password ... given option of security questions or email  ... chose eemail .. nothing arrived ... selected security questions  ... security questions came up that I couldn't answer .. in fact couldn't remember having been asked these questions Apple ID previously.  My account was migrated from Mobile Me to iCloud ... iCLoud locked me out after 4 wrong attempts for 8 hrs  ...  this was 9 hrs ago
... still locked out .. have called Apple Support .. tey say wait  for 8 hrs  ... any ideas folks?

This is EXACTLY what happened to me.  And my id never reset.  This has been horrible.  Apple insists there is nothing they can do even when I have proof I own the account and brought my identifying information to the apple store.
I think apple may be having hackers that lock you out of your account and then send you a bogus email about iCloud Security.  I think both issues are something apple needs to address.  There needs to be some way for you to get your email back for people who migrated from Mobile Me to iCloud and only had one security question.  It is bad customer service from a company who is supposed to have the very best.
