How do I get music onto my iPhone without having to download it from the Cloud? My iPhone gives the error "sync will resume when "computer" is available" on the final step of synching. The computer says "waiting for changes to be applied" but the phone doesn't have the two little sync arrows anymore. Seems it will stay like that for hours if I don't cancel it. I've tried syncing the songs with the cord & without the cord; using only purchased music or only a few songs. I've restarted both devices & both are updated with the latest software. My phone says it hasn't synced in 5 months, even though I've tried. WiFi is working. I've tried checking and unchecking the box in iTunes. I've turned Windows Firewall on/off. Ran the diagnostics in iTunes. Nothing seems to work. Help!

    Hello Megurine Lockhart,
I would recommend re syncing the music to the phone from iTunes by unchecking the sync music checkbox in iTunes, sync, then re check it and sync again.
For reference this is what I mean:
    Syncing music
Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes.
Select your your iPod in the Devices section on the left side of the iTunes window.
In the main iTunes browser window, select Music.
Select the option to Sync Music. You may also select "Include Music videos" if you would like to sync Music videos to a device.
From: iTunes: Syncing media content to iPod
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1351
The article references an iPod but its the same for an iPhone.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Purchased music / Authorization?

Even though music from the iTunes Store is now provided in DRM-less 256-bit AAC files, is it still the case that these files can only be played on iTunes software that includes the same authorized account that purchased the song?
Let's say I manually copy a .m4a file that I've downloaded from the iTunes Store to a thumb drive. I then take that thumb drive to a friend's house. He fires up iTunes and tells it to add that file to his Library. Will the dialog box pop up saying that I need to use one of my five authorizations on his laptop before it will play? If I do use one, can I then deauthorize his laptop once he's heard it?
    TIA.

Here's what the iTunes help has to say about DRM:
Usage rights for iTunes Store purchases
Many of the items you purchase from the iTunes Store are protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM). These protected purchases can be:
Played on up to five authorized computers
Synced with your iPod, iPhone, or iPad
Synced with or streamed to your Apple TV
All songs offered by the iTunes Store now come without DRM protection. These DRM-free songs, called iTunes Plus, have no usage restrictions and feature high-quality 256 kbps AAC encoding.
If you already have iTunes Store purchases that are now available as iTunes Plus downloads, you may upgrade your existing purchases. To do so, visit the iTunes Store and follow the onscreen instructions.
Songs are a subset of iTunes Store items. The wording of the above seems to mean that while there are still a number of items one can purchase from the iTunes Store that have DRM, all songs do not. Furthermore, since songs do not have DRM, they are not subject to the "5 authorized computers" restriction.
My interest isn't in buying songs from the iTunes Store and giving them to friends. In fact, I've never purchased anything from the iTunes Store, which is why I'm not clear on what the limitations are and are not.
Rather, it's to understand how easy/complicated it is to move .m4a files from a friend's laptop that's being retired to her new iMac. In my world, where all my .mp3 files have been ripped from my CDs, it would simply be a matter of copying the file structure I use and then adding the root folder to the Library on the iMac. The issue of authorization would never come up.
The quoted help text above suggests this is now the case with songs from the iTunes Store (but not other, still-protected content). That's what I'm trying to verify.

  • Locked out of pre purchased downloads

No where in the agreement does it state that I have to have money in my account in order to recieve pre-purchase books and tv programs from iTunes.
I paid for books via Audible.com but when I went to download them Itunes stated there was a problem with my credit card.  But I paid for the Audible books a number of months ago, and I also paid for the season passes on my itunes.  It is paid for!  I looked up the iTunes agreement and nothing in it states that all purchase items are ransomed until my credit card is available.
    Hello what is this!!!!

    Go here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store. Note, however, that you aren't normally charged for a pre-order until the item is actually available, so if these pre-orders just now became available, that may be why you are now encountering difficulties if your card is no longer valid.
    Regards.

  • TS2446 Locked out for 8 hours incorrect security questions

How to change security questions when you don't know the answers?

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then you can go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then see if this user tip helps : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551
e.g. you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management , and then try Apple ID Account Security
or try ringing Apple in your country and ask to talk to the Accounts Security Team : http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down this page to add a rescue email address for potential future use : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312

  • How to sync purchased music from an iPhone without SIM card?

    Hello,
I have an iPhone 3GS, which I used, till I got a new iPhone 4.
Meanwhile it was working for my girlfriend as "iPodtouch". Yesterday I was able to have my cellular network provider to remove the sim lock, so that the iPhone 3GS is now again able to be used as cell phone.
Meanwhile my girlfriend purchased music at iTunes. I want to sync the iPhone 3GS to iTunes, but it always say "no sim card installed" The only way wold be to go thru the lock free procedure to sync, but that will delete all content on that phone. (including the purchased music)
    My question now is:
How can I sync an iPhone 3GS to iTunes, without the SIM card installed?
    Thank you for your trouble.
    Henning

    Open itunes.
    Connect iphone.
Look at the top of your computer screen for the word "File" .  Click it.
    Then click "Transfer Purchases"

  • I am attempting to make my first purchase in the App store, yet it is asking me security questions I know I didn't enable and I keep getting locked out of my account despite resetting everything.

This usually wouldn't pose to be a problem, but I am a college freshman and I just redeemed my $100 giftcard to the app store. I am beyond frustrated and don't know what to do.
It is my first time making a purchase off of this Mac with this account, so it is asking me two security questions. It keeps asking me who my favorite and least favorite teachers were. I know for a fact that these are not the security questions I enabled, so I went in to change them again and logged out of everything. I logged back in and I was getting the same thing from the App store -- it was asking me questions I didn't enable. I've been locked out of my account for eight hours twice and all of my Mac's information is at home and not easily accessable to me, so I don't want to have to call and be asked for information I do not have.
What do I do? I need some crucial apps for classes that start in less than fourty-eight hours from now?
I have changed my appleID's information three times now: passwords, rescue email, and of course, my security questions. I am at my wits end and not pleased that I will possibly be losing $100!

You've been hitten by Apple's recent SNAFU. I fear you are SoL until their pending investigation fiasco is over with.

  • Purchased music saga across multiple devices!!  Oh and greyed out iTunes tracks!!

Ok, this has been bugging me for a while now!  This post spans many common questions regarding the iTunes store, purchased music held within iCloud and how that purchased music relates to multiple iOS devices.  I cannot work out how this is all supposed to fit together and I honestly believe there is some fundamental issues with either my account or the system as a whole.  To explain I am going to use my iPhone 6 and my iPad Air 2nd generation to show you the current situation.
Ok, below is my iTunes store music purchases, as viewed in iTunes on my Mac Mini.  31 albums in total, some may not be full albums as it may have been a single that I bought from an album.
Ok, both my iPhone and iPad are set to "Manually manage music and videos" in iTunes and all music has been deleted from them both via Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage.  There is ZERO music held on either device, neither manually moved there from iTunes or downloaded to the devices from my purchases in the cloud (the 31 albums above).
Ok, within Settings > Music on both devices, "Show All Music" is off.  This should mean that if I go into the Music app on both devices, my device should show no content.  My understanding is correct about this yes?  Here is the result on each device.
iPad: This is to be expected
iPhone: Something is wrong here (8 albums showing in total)
None of the above can be swiped left to delete and all play while in airplane mode so they ARE stored locally!  They may have been synced to the iPhone in the past via iTunes, however now they should not be there.
The questions here:  Why are they on my iPhone?  Why has the first album been split (if I add it manually to my iPad using iTunes then it goes on as one album)?
More importantly, how do I get rid of them?  They don't show as present in iTunes when connected, they don't show in "Manage Storage" and I can't swipe left to delete.
Moving on!  I will now turn on "Show All Music" on my iPad.  I expect now to see all music purchased from the iTunes store, i.e. the 31 album's.
Nope! I now see 29 albums and 1 of those will be the split album so 28 in total.  Where is the other 3 shown in iTunes purchases?  Hang on, see below the first album?  Professor Green! I bought that from iTunes come to think of it but it doesn't show as one of my 31 albums!  The same can be said for the other 21 albums that now appear!  8 that seem to be stuck and 21 more when "Show All Music" is turned on.  The 31 albums showing in my iTunes as purchases are nowhere to be seen!!
Also worth noting is that Cream Club Anthems 2012 is also split into 2 albums on my iPad displaying whats in iCloud so not just on the music that seems to be stuck on my iPhone.  Sigh!
Ok, on my iPhone, when I turn on "Show All Music" i get the exact same 29 albums as shown above on my iPad.
So 2 issues based on this!  My purchases in the cloud are not complete and have split one album, this is proved by my iPad showing no content when "Show All Music" is turned off.  Second is that when I turn that setting off on my iPhone, I am left with albums on my device, despite all music being deleted and one of the "sticky" albums is split into 2 albums.
I will throw this one in too.  "Show All Music" set to off and all music deleted by iTunes and swiping left on my iPhone.  Connect to iTunes and have a look what is on my device!  What the **** is all this crap?  Can't be deleted and definitely not present on the device!
Not good enough Apple.  I have seen multiple threads with people asking questions relating to all the above and no one has given a comprehensive answer as to why this happens!  I use Apple products exclusively now as everything is supposed to fit together seemlessly.  As you can see from above, it just doesn't!

I am assuming someone at Apple has seen this as today all my music shows with "Show All Music" selected.  However, the split album is still split and when I turn off the aforementioned setting the 8 albums still show.
It's reminding me of the old Windows Media Player days!
