Locked out of my skype account!!!

Ok, I have been using the same login info for years now and by accident instead of just quitting skype I logged out.  On my next session I was confronted with a login screen and used the same info that I have always used to login...but it didn't work.
I have the info written down so there is no chance I have made a mistake.
Why has Microsoft made this stupid mistake?  What exactly has Microsoft changed to cause this error?   I am sure I am not the only one experiencing this problem.
To make this issue even more frustrating there is a option to change my password which I did and it still will not allow access.  It's a good thing I have a Microsoft @live email which allowed me to login to my account otherwise all of my contacts would have been lost.
Skype can't afford to make mistakes of this magnitude.

6.20.0.104 click on check for updates and it tells me I already have the latest version of skype?
This is a login issue regardless of version.  I was running the latest version when this happened.
Updated:  The new password has been accpeted but why was my old password rejected?  Very scary.

  • I have been locked out of my iTunes account. How do I unlock it?

Upon purchasing an album on iTunes, security questions were asked. I could not remember one of the questions and tried multiple times to get it right. I never did. Then, I was locked out of my iTunes account and cannot purchase anything. I remember the answer to the question now but it won't let me try to answer it anymore.

  • Safari 7.0.5 problem-- I can't erase saved passwords-- I delete it in Preferences, it keeps entering the old password. I just got locked out of a bank account-- AGAIN!

I changed my password for an important account.
I deleted the old password under preferences on Safari.
I entered the new password and it asked to save it.
Next time I went to the account----it entered the old password--- and after three tries, I was locked out of the account.
I re-did the whole process--- it happened again!
    Help!

Passwords saved by Safari are actually stored in Keychain Access.
Open Keychain Access located in   HD > Applications > Utilities
    Select Passwords on the left.
Type in the name of the website you are trying to change the password for top right corner of the Keychain Access window.
That website keychain should be there.
Then right or control click that keychain then click Delete.
Then back to Safari. From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:  Remove All Website Data
Then select the Passwords tab then delete the the website. Make sure: AutoFill user names and passwords is selected.
Now go to the bank account website and try changing your password.

  • Visual Studio Test Controller recovery locks out the user domain account, cannot log into PC

On the recovery tab of the Visual studio Test controller Services properties dialog, there are three recovery settings:
First Failure, Second failure and Subsequent failures. The default settings for these options is to "Restart the Service". I changed my domain password this morning, restared the PC and could not log in because the Visual Studio Test Controller
service tried to restart with the wrong credentials in an infinite loop. This resulted in my account with the domain controller getting locked out. The delay between service restarts was very quick and I could not login and stop the service. The kind admin
fellow logged in  to the PC and changed the service settings.
Is there a place where the recovery service restart interval can be changed to prevent this situation?

    Hi bcautest1,
    >>I changed my domain password this morning, restared the PC and could not log in because the Visual Studio Test Controller service tried to restart with the wrong credentials in an infinite loop. This resulted in my account with the domain controller
    getting locked out.
You said that you couldn't log in, do you mean that you couldn't log in your machine or others?
If you change the domain password, generally we could open the Test Controller configuration and change the logon account for this service.
But if you mean that you couldn't log in your windows now, I'm afraid that it is not the test controller and Agent issue, it would be the windows issue, because it still has this issue even if you use other servers.

  • Locked out of my user account - can anyone help please!?

    Hi all
I have a rather annoying issue that only happened a few hours ago and I have come here to ask for help if I may because I do not have the experience to resolve it on my own.
Here goes.. Using my 2009 mbp, running snow leopard 10.6, computer hangs with spinning ball, try to shutdown and it just hangs. So I shutdown with the power button and when I power up I find I cannot access my standard user account with everything in it - I get a message saying " cannot access account at this time due to an error" .
The mbp I'm using has two drives : one intel ssd for osx and program's and a hitachi hdd for storage. The hitachi drive is in a caddy in the place of the SuperDrive and the SuperDrive is now in an external enclosure and the intel ssd in the hard drive bay.
    Things I have tried :
I have booted in safe mode - same error message.
Cleared PRAM - same error message.
Booted from system disc and tried to reset password - same error message.
Ran disc utility from cd and I see that the hitachi hdd is not mounted - it will not let me mount the volume, first aid sees that it's still alive but that's all it will do.
The intel ssd checks out just fine in disc utility first aid - I repaired permissions.
I suspect the hitachi hdd is at fault but would really like someone's educated opinion if that's ok? As all my data is on it and stupidly I have not backed all of it up.
I am having to send this from my iPhone !
    Many thanks
    David

It sounds like the Hitachi with your home folder may have died or become problematic, in one way or another. This won't solve that problem, but it may help to get you to be able to at least log in. These instructions are for resetting a password with a CD, not your issue, but it will allow you to create a new admin account, so at least you will be able to login. Not sure what will solve the problem with the Hitachi, if it won't mount because, for all intents and purposes, it's dead. If that's the case--and can't be certain it is--you might need some kind of recovery software. (Google that for Mac. There are many available programs.) That booting in Safe Mode doesn't fix the issue is not a good sign.
Make certain you give this new account admin privileges.
Reset Mac Password – without a CD or Boot Drive
reset mac password Using a pretty nifty trick you can reset a forgotten Mac password without a Mac OS X installer CD/DVD or any kind of boot drive or recovery partiton, and without having an Apple ID. This is basically the be-all-end-all approach if nothing else works, because it’s guaranteed to get you back into a Mac when the other options are available, and it works in literally all versions of OS X. The steps may seem a little intimidating at first but I assure you it’s easy if you follow them exactly, here is exactly how to do this in three stages:
Stage 1) Boot into Single User Mode and remove a setup file
Restart the Mac holding down the Command+S keys, this will take you into Single User Mode and it’s Terminal interface
You’ll need to check the filesystem first:
        fsck -fy
Next, you must mount the root drive as writeable so that changes will save:
        mount -uw /
Now, type the following command exactly, followed by the enter key:
        rm /var/db/.applesetupdone
        reset forgot mac password
After removing the applesetupdone file, you need to reboot, type ‘reboot’ and hit enter
Stage 2) Create a New User Account upon System Boot
You aren’t finished, but the hard part is now over – no more command lines, you’ll now be in the familiar Mac OS X GUI to finish the password reset process. In this step we just create a new user account as if you just got a new Mac:
Upon reboot, you will be presented with the traditional “Welcome Wizard” startup screen just like when you first get a Mac
Follow the welcome wizard and create a new user account – making the account name different from the account whose password you want to recover
Continue on and boot into Mac OS X with this newly created user account, this new user account is an Administrator and has administrative access

  • I've been locked out of my iTunes account and Apple support say they can't reset it!

Apple seems to have a problem in which some accounts become locked and cannot be unlocked.  Don’t bother responding with comment s like which i pulled form this site while tracking down my login issues:
"IT'S YOUR ACCOUNT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY IF YOUR STUPID ENOUGH TO SET UP AN ACCOUNT YOU CAN'T ACCESS THAN KICK YOUR OWN...TAIL!!! Pathetic cry babies....smh!"
This is my issue.  My account has worked without an issue since I created the account 1+ years ago.  Then for some reason i was prompted and i could not sign into my account.  I went to iForgot site
Requested Email Verification to unlock account – I request email verification but the email does not arrive. I know my account emsil account works.  I receive email every day to the email account from friends, family and even Apple (download billing receipts, and other apple notifications).  I created another "test" apple id and received an email without  This option does not work either because the verification email is not sent (or never arrives)
Next I went down the challenge question path.  I cannot get past the enter birthdate page as it is never considers my birth date as valid entry.  And yes, i know my birthdate but it is no longer accepted as a valid input.
I had a chat session with Apple support and they are aware of this type of issue but there is no process in place to fix these accounts. According to Apple Support (the person i chatted with) there is concern about protecting users identity by giving other access to your account.  I personally question this response because i had account issue with other companies that mange personal date (e.g. my Bank) and the issue was resolved.  Apple cannot or will not fix this issue.  Without resolution i can not get to content i have purchased but have not downloaded and i can not purchases or upgrade exiting apps.
    Any ideas?

Apple's primitive security scheme was very visibly embarrased by a media writer who saw two of his devices more or less wiped clean while he watched helplessly due to a social engineering crack. (not a hack, a crack)
You and a number of others have been caught between Apple's shutting down identity repair system and whatever unspecified fix.  How long are you stuck?  Well, they have your money already, and you consumers tend to be okay with the abuse, so they aren't in any hurry.

  • I have my old iPhone 3GS that I only use as an iPod but I've forgotten the password and am locked out. My iTunes account is linked to my iPhone4 and I'm lost as to how I can get back into my old iPhone3GS. Can someone PLEASE help me??

Does anyone know how I can get my old one unlocked?

If you have the computer to which the iPhone was last synched, you can restore the iPhone on that computer.  That will remove the lock.  If not, then you have absolutely no choice but to place the phone into recover mode (search Google for instructoins) and restore the phone as a NEW device.

  • Changing country and you get locked out of your iTunes account?

    Hi All,
Can anyone help? I've sadly got nowhere with Apple sending just a cut and paste process that I've tried (and which fails to understand the point)
I have n itunes account set up in the UK. I've moved myself and my UK bank account address to the US and yet whatever I do I get the usual "your bank account number is no t a vlid bank account number" etc
    - Applecare say this is a common problem for expats and they cant help try the iTunes helpdesk
    - Itunes helpdesk is just an email address from cut and paste people who dont reply to specific problems (and customers)
    1. I dont want or see the need to change bank accounts just to continue my custom with Apple.
    2. As I am a UK ITunes customer. I HAVE to enter  a UK postcode  but I cant because my UK bank account is (of course) now a US ZIP code
    3. I shouldn't have to add a new (and unnecessarily confusing and tedious)  second iTunes account even if I *can* have "up to five accounts per device" - I have several Macs/Mac books, iPhones etc and I really dont want to turn what should be a simple financial relationship into a messy multiple account relationship. (I love Apple, believe it or not, so if Amazon can do it all with a single account and multiple devices (UK *OR* US) then so can Apple who are genyine experts in inventory management (since 1997)
    (its a case of I'm ****** if I do and ****** if I dont)
Any suggestions most welcome - I'm getting increasingly fed up that I cannot install apps on the iphone (or even update them!!) and add to that the fact that now I cant download apps via the fancy-schmancy appstore on my Macbook pro 2011 because... yes you guessed it, I'm stuck with the same iTunes store question (Before replying please see point 1 above before suggesting point 1) <wink>

  • Locked out from my icloud account

I had apple id and was using the same to access icloud account. Few months back I changed primary e mail address and my previous apple id email login was set in the email adresses of account. Now after installing new operating system it is not accepting new apple id e mail and asking for password of previous appleid. Please advise if anyone knows what can be done

    Here ya go:
    Rescue email address
A rescue address helps secure your Apple ID account against unauthorized access by someone who gains control of your primary address. If you have a rescue address, it receives all security-related Apple ID email instead of your primary address, including the email needed to reset your password or security questions.
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com).
Select “Manage your Apple ID” and sign in.
Select “Password and Security” on the left side of the page. You may be asked to answer one or more security questions before continuing. Forgot the answers?
If you see a list of three security questions, your account has the option to use a rescue address.
Accounts that have fewer than three questions don't have and don't need a rescue address.
Accounts that use two-step verification don't have and don't need a rescue address or security questions.
    Add a rescue address:
Select Add Email Address, then enter your rescue address. Apple will send a verification email to that address. Didn't receive the email?
Follow the instructions in the email to verify the address. If you don't verify the address, security-related email continues to go to your primary address.
    Edit a rescue address:
Select Edit next to the address, then enter the new address. Apple will send a verification email to that address. Didn't receive the email?
Follow the instructions in the email to verify the address. If you don't verify the address, security-related email continues to go to your primary address.
Delete a rescue address: Select Delete next to the address.
    Cheers,
    GB

  • Keep being locked out of my ASC account

For the last 2 or 3 days I've been having trouble signing in to these forums using my normal (one and only) Apple ID. Not always, but often, when signing in I get re-directed to this page:
I click on the 'My Apple ID' link, log into my Apple ID without any problem and then have to re-select the email address associated with my Apple ID, save the changes. I can then log in to ASC. It's like these forums alone (I can log in to the Store/iTunes/App Store, no problem) keep forgetting my login credentials.
Anyone else got the same problem, or is it just me . Any suggestions how to resolve it much appreciated.

  • Email sub-account locked out due to too many log in attempts.

Hi All, If someone has had this issue can you share how to get around this?  When I try to log into my sub-account it sends me an access code.  But the code brings me to my primary email account, not the sub-account.  Thanks in advance for any help on this! VAFrank

Been on hold for over two hours on three different calls -- I guess Verizon tech support is off the holiday?   Must be nice!   Meanwhile, can't get to email on sub account!   This is a sad joke!!   You mean that I will be locked out of this email until they decide to take calls again?  There is NO reason why I should not be able to correct this from the web without having to speak to anybody!  Totally unaccepable.   I had better control over sub-accounts with Comcast. Oh, well.  I thought Verizon had their act together better than Comcast with customer service and web tools but evidentally I was wrong.   With Comcast it was simple -- I paid their bills but never lost service and could fix anything myself.   With Verizon, I pay pretty much the same amount for same service but at least I could fix issues suich as this -- I rarely had to call Comcast for tech support -- I've had to call Verizon THREE TIMES to fix this same issue in six months from hiccups with password programs -- I shouldn't see "NULL" for the secret question -- nor should I see the main account when I get locked out of the sub-account and go through the process to get the text code on the phone and whatnot, then get sent to the password settings for the main account -- that is sloppy!  Worse, while I see "NULL" for my secret question -- the voice agents can see the question because they ask me for the secret answer!  Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy! Worse, Verizon has no explanation for this unacceptable nonsense and has to know about it because I've brought it up with agents.  That tells me Verizon simply doesn't care or is satisfied with how things are.   I can get just as lousy customer service from Comcast but, as I said, at least I could fix issues such as this with clear instructions on the Comcast customer page -- no "hidden" or "special" links like what was mentioned earlier in this thread, which don't work anyway now if they did at one time!   I was with Comcast for 10 years, never, ever had a situation where I couldn't unlock an account.    So, counting the days until my contract is over!   A year and a half, sadly.
