[Locked: repeating post bug] Can't save jpg due to program error

Saw some answers in a post I now can't locate...
I can save a psd to tiff, but can save nothing to jpg, which gives the message above. It's very annoying. I run Cocktail and Diskwarrior fairly regularly, which usually sorts things like this out, but not this time. I even did a clean install, but the problem isn't fixed. A work-round is to open the tiff in Preview and resave as a jpg, but that's not ideal.
Does anyone know the precise reason for this glitch (I'm fairly sure it's Mac system and not PS)?

document must be  RGB 8bit and you will be able to see option . Jpg  option will show up .
File->save as
choose :
jpg-> window will open when clik save and then you will see 3 options to choose. baseline , optimize, progressive.
on my settings optimize is default and instead optimize i choose baseline .
It does work for me. try that.

  • Could not save "pdf" due to program error-CS6

Hi Everyone. I've gotten then message "Could not save due to program error". I used to get it randomly, and a few times in a row then I'd restart my machine and it'd usually fix it. Now it has been unable to save as a PDF all day today and last night.
    I am running a Mac on OS X 10.9.4, Photoshop CS6 version 13.0.6 x64.
I have been reading through the forums and tried changing the language to the Asian, I've updated my photoshop, I've tried saving both to a network and to my desktop and none of it works.
I am not sure how to find the TextError file, but if someone will tell me how to find that, I'll gladly include that. I really need some help because my whole job product depends on getting PDFs to publishers!

No it I still have 6 of 8 gigs left on the flash drive I am saving to. I
even tried to save to my Documents file and received the same error
message. It was a little weird because it let me save 7-8 name tags prior
to giving me an error message. I did see a longer message when I tried to
save it to my Documents..it said that it was due to a program error, but
that was the extent of the message.
I have CS5 on my PC and switched to that program. I am not having any
difficulties using the CS5. I will try rebooting my laptop and see if that
    helps.
    Thank you.

  • Can not save because of a program error

I am using leopard. I just upgraded to CS2, This is the error message I am getting. Not every time just sometimes. Which is bad if I am working for a client and I have put so much work into something I can't save.

    Doreen,
Be aware that CS2 does have issues running on Mac OS X 10.5.x that will not be "fixed" by Adobe. You should be running CS3 on that OS.

  • Cannot save PDF due to program error

Just documenting this in case anyone else ever has the same problem.
Running Photoshop CS3 under Windows Vista I could not save as PDF due to a "program error" (whatever that is).
Looked in C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Adobe Photoshop CS3 Settings
    File PSErrorLog.txt contained the message:
    2009:07:21 15:31:54 : ..\..\sources\PDFUtilities.cpp : 2240 : REQUIRE failed
    Solution:
    Close Photoshop
Rename Adobe Photoshop CS3 Prefs.psp to Adobe Photoshop CS3 Prefs-old.psp
    Restart Photoshop

Thank you for pointing that out.
It should be added that this action is what is generally known as Resetting Photoshop Preferences and is the usual method for dealing with unusal behaviour when all obvious remedies have failed.
It is more fully documented in the FAQ: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
It is useful to keep a "good" copy of the content of the Settings folder in a separate location on the computer, This can be copied back after a reset to save having to get your individual preferences how you like them.

  • Can't apply workspace due to program error?

I've already corrected the permissions on all the files/folders, but for some reason it's erroring me out.
    Anyone solve this?

Did you encounter these problems after installing the Photoshop FXG plug-in?   Or is this a general Photoshop CS5 question?
(This forum is specifically for people using the Photoshop CS5 FXG feature with Flash Catalyst.)
If this is a general Photoshop CS5 question then I recommend you post this question to one of the more general Photoshop forums:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop
Your question will get much wider exposure there, and you are more likely to get an answer from the Photoshop community.

  • Issue with Windows Photo Viewer: "can't save picture because an unknown error occured"

    Hi,
I recently installed Windows 7 RC (Build 7100). I quite often have an issue in Windows Photo Viewer when rotating an image and trying to go to the next picture. It gives me the error "Windows Photo Viewer can't save picture because an unknown error occured".
Seperate from this issue: when I delete a picture in Windows Photo Viewer, it is still in the Windows Explorer overview of files. This did not use to be the case in Windows XP?
    Kind regards,
    Frederik

    Hi
    SOSv2 ,
This should be fixed in Windows 7 RTM.
Also, you can install Windows Live Photo Gallery to view and rotate pictures as well. To download it, please click
HERE . For more information about Windows Live Photo Gallery, you can
    a question on
    Windows Live Answers
In addition, please understand that Nikon RAW images (and most Canon) do not support rotate functionality in Windows Photo Viewer, and thus rotate is
disabled. To rotate those types of images, the user will need to use an image editing program that fully supports their RAW codec.
    Regards,
    Linda
I am using Win 7 x64 Ultimate RTM and still have this problem (with JPG's dumped from my Nikon to the hard drive).  Doesn't do it on every one that I rotate, but still very annoying.  Is there a fix?

  • TS3694 Why is my i-tunes freezing up and is accompanied by a message "Saying Itunes can't save anything due to lack of memory and my system is equiped with 16gb?

I Have always used Itunes for my music and for reasons beyond me Itunes has been freezing up and lately it has bringing a mate that reseambles a normal Windows error message but it's telling me that Itunes has to close and the program can't save anything due to lack of memory ? So I updated the program to Version 10.6 last night and while downloading songs and album artwork Today it froze up an brought his mate the message back. And Yet my Laptop is as tooled up as well as a bovver boy on his way to a riot With 16gb of ddr3 plus 2 x Nvidia Gtx 580m's In Sli. So by rights any type of multimedia should run as smooth as silk and i never thought i would have a program make use of 16gb of ram all by itself. So if anybody has been through it an come out on top instead of passing Itunes over for another program and can give any advice or a hint would be much Appreciated... Thanks to Anybody listening....

  • "Could not complete the save command because of program error."

    Dear all,
I am having problems saving jpegs on Photoshop CS3. I use windows XP professional. I am saving using the save menu (not save as). I am using a saving archive, where folders are within folders. I am trying to save images which have been copy and pasted from the web.
    The message I get is:
“Could not complete the save command because of program error.”
Has anyone got this message, and know how to solve it?
    Helen

I think My Documents is a local folder.
I would avoid saving to deeply buried folders because the path will be too long.
If the problem still persists, try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • 2.3RC - BUG - "Undo failed due to programming error."

I apply +10 Brightness, twice, in the develop module and then try to undo it twice. On the second undo I get the dialog box with the message: "Undo failed due to programming error."
Windows XP SP3 Pro, 4GB, ATI.
Looks like Adobe plugs one hole to spring a new one somewhere else.

I'm wondering if this is really a bug or a design decision.
If you move the sliders the history does not update until you release the mouse button, as it should. Releasing the mouse button signifies you are finished with the adjustment.
Now consider the +/- keys. Each depression of the key moves the adjustment a fixed amount. My guess is that you would normally make several quick depressions of the key up,down or both until you are satisfied with the results. Do you want to record each and every key depression in the history or would you just like to have the end result logged in the history.
My choice would be to wait a finite amout of time between key strokes prior to logging in the history file which is what, I think, Lightroom is doing. What would be nice to have is a preference setting to control this inter-key depression timeout.

iTunes: Home sharing can't be activated due to an error (5506). Who can help?
I have an Apple ID but for some reason iTunes does not recognizes it.
I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes as well?

Did you ever figure it out? I am new to itunes and it won't allow me to home share with my daughter because I don't have a credit card.

  • Can't save jpg files in PS 7

I've been using PS 7 for a few years and have never experienced this problem. I received a CD of client photos today (JPGs) from one of our photographers, a photographer I've been working with for a couple years. I'm able to open the files in PS 7, but when I try to save any of them after adjusting, it gets to the final SAVE prompt, I click SAVE and get an error saying "Could not complete your request because of a program error". This happens with every file on the CD. I checked the file properties and they're correct. Nothing locked.
I tried opening one of the files in PS 5.5 and was able to save with no problem. Then when I opened that file in PS 7, I was able to do a save. But none of the others will allow a save...just that one file I'd opened and and saved in PS 5.5.
Also, in PS 7 I'm able to save the files as TIFs, but when I try to resave the TIFs as JPGs, I get the same error. Odd
I'm not having problems with other JPG files on other CDs, just this one. Our salesman told me the photographer said he's using "new software", so I'm wondering if it's possible the new software could be doing something to the files that PS 7 can't handle but PS 5.5 can?
    I'm using WIN XP Pro.

I don't expect to save a file back to a CD, Michael. My God, I hope I'm not that stupid. One thing I did neglect to specify in the post is that I did in fact attempt to save to a folder on my drive using SAVE AS which is standard procedure for what I've been doing the last 20 years of magazine layout. I mentioned I was able to save one of the files using PS 5.5, so how could I have done that if I were trying to save back to the CD? My normal method is to view the files in ACDSee, choose the photos for the current project, open them in PS 7, do the photo adjusting, then save the adjusted photos to the appropriate client file on my drive. Never a problem until today. I even copied all files for one of the clients to the appropriate client folder and went from there instead of the CD. Still no dice.

  • Can't save photos- "can't complete b/c of program error"

My husband and I are "classic" adobe users of element 5.0. Has always worked great except recently can't save pictures... only comes up saying "can not complete your request because of a program error" Any advice?

If you are using Photoshop Elements 5 that is a very old program.  Probably best advice is to have you repost in the PSE forum at http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop_elements
Also, I strongly recommend you immediately change your Adobe ID to some name without your email address.  This opens you up to spam.
    Good luck.
