Locked Text Comments

I am having trouble making Text Comments. When I try to make a Text Comment on my pdf, I see the outline of a text box, but I can't type anything or do anything to it. When I click away, the text box disappears. Under the Comments List, I see a "T" for text box, but it has a little padlock icon attached to it. When I try to change the properties of this comment, it is grayed out because the "lock" box is checked. Help!

Yes, commenting is allowed. Also, I was previously able to make comments before and when did so, the "T" appeared in Comments List and it didn't have a padlock. I think I inadvertently changed the settings while trying to make a specific font setting the default. Still, this shouldn't be irreversible! I spent about two hours trying to find a solution, including reinstalling Adobe Reader. No matter what I tried, I couldn't unlock the text box properties. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I was trying to change some text written by a previous contributor, Caitlyn. However, she did not have anything locked and I was able to change her text previously without problem. Here are some screen shots that show what I described:

Text comments always locked

Hi,
we have a problem with Reader 11.0.09 at work. My wife usually uses text comments (T-Symbol) to make notices in PDFs. But since today she is not able to create or edit text comments any more. Neither with new PDFs nor with PDFs she always changed. There is the lock symbol on any comment and the "Locked" checkox is ticked but greyed-out.
She is quite familiar with office software and Adobe Reader and she used this feature already many times. The files are writable and she can do other comments and markup tools like stamps or signature.
And additionally I am possible to comment all files she sent me. So it seems not be a problem of the PDFs but of the preferences of the reader. Something like "Set preferences as default" with ticked checkbox. But I cannot reproduce as text comments are usually not lockable as far as I have read. She can not even comment a new file I created with Adobe Acrobat or PDF24 printer. But I can do so with the same Reader version. If she creates a new comment by clicking into page there is a new comment in commentlist but with lock on it. Because of this she cannot enter text and it is removed after clicking somewhere else.

But the first one is not really solved just the hint to make it writable and the second is solved but does not really match because of it seems a problem of a single PDF.
Do you have any hint or solutions on this problem? New installation of Adobe Reader would last quite long because of a separate IT department and it´s not sure if this solves the issue.

Edit with Additional information: She says she probably changed something in signature preferences. But don´t know what exactly could have this impact and cannot reset. She of course also has no possibility to edit registry.

Acrobat XI Pro "add text comment" not working

In Acrobat, my "Add Text Comment" comment feature no longer works. I am using Acrobat XI Pro on Win7.
The property "Locked" vs Make Property Default fix on these forums did not work for me.
When I click on a document to add a text comment,
1. Acrobat creates a small square (uneditable)
2. Acrobat adds a comment to the comments list
I am unable to type any text, nor edit the box, nor change the box's size, nor see the properties.
Any thoughts are appreciated as to how to fix this feature.

Hi cpa-michael,
If this issue appears in any PDF that you try to add comments to, please repair the Acrobat installation by choosing Help > Repair Acrobat Installation.
If the issue appears only in one PDF file, that PDF may be damaged and you can try Saving As to repair the document, or you can try to "refry" the PDF by printing to PDF from within Acrobat.

How do I unlock text comments?

When go to add Text Comments to a PDF file it is automatically locked although I've never made this a default action in my comment properties.
This is what appears every time I try to add a text comment.
When I go to unlock it, the option to uncheck LOCKED is greyed out.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have tried to download another file and try editing it. However, it still show the same issue. I think I have do some wrong setting in the adobe reader thus lead to the above issue.
Please see attachment for a file found difficulties in editing.
Moreover, I have tried to re-install the software but still find the same problem.

Text Comments convert to HTML when edited in an archive copy.

Has anyone noticed this in Reader 11.0.9 and 11.0.10
1. Select a document on shared review with a text comment in it.
2. Save an archive copy
3. Edit the text comment from the comment bar
Results: HTML tags are now visible in text box and comment bar
Expected results: Text only is visible
It seems to work fine if you edit the text from the text box rather than the comment bar.

Firstly you will need to buy a Reader Extensions license (this allows Reader to save the form data - otherwise the client will require Acrobat). Once this is done, you will then need a button (called "Lock Down" or something) that executes a script that makes all of the fields readOnly and updates a form variable (say, "locked") to indicate that the form is locked. You will also need to add a script to the initialize event that checks for the value of "locked", then executes the readOnly script (if the form needs to be locked down). An example of a readOnly script can be found on page 434 of http://www.adobe.com/go/learn_lc_scriptingReference (see "Disabling all form fields" script)
Here is a sample form ( https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/9df046bd-1125-4923-95de-35fc845139ca ) with a 'Lock All fields' button. Once you click this button all the forms turn 'Read only'.
Another way to accomplish this which still requires Reader Extensions or Acrobat Pro is to use digital signatures. The people you are sending this to should have certificates set up.

Text Comment in (MIGO) Recieved Quantity against Purchase Order.

Would like to take your suggestion on this.
I Have raised a Purchase Order, With quantity-50.
As per Purchse order i Suppose to recieve 50-Quantity but i recieved 45 Quantity, The Balance 5 items got theft during Transportation.
When i am doing my GR, I need to account somewhere the missing Materials Quantity-5, against the recieved Goods 45, But Orderd Quantity is 50.
Is there any Text Column in MIGO while doing Goods Recipt to Maintain the Comment against the recieved quantity and to send the same Print out to Vendor reflecting the written Text Comment.
Please Provide your Valuable nputs on this.

1. It's helpful to give a full and complete description of your problem when first posting in order to get a complete answer and avoid follow up posts.
2. There's no need post the same answer twice.
My answer: The stroke/line around a text box is all or nothing. If you want to eliminate the line between adjacent text boxes you'll have to draw a white line over the offending line to cover it up. Once this is done, select both text boxes and the line (using shift-click or command-click) open the Arrange menu and choose Group (or press Option-Command-G). This will keep the white line in place if the text boxes move.

You can try bitpim to get your text messages off the old phone, but I don't know if they will transfer to the iphone. Verizon has a company that you can contact to transfer you voicemail messages to CD. There is a charge for the service though.

Try adding .epub to the end of the name.
I assume you are aware that to open an .epub file you need a special app, not TextEdit or Pages, right?

Adding New Text Comment in Traditional Chinese shows Error

When adding New Text Comment in Traditional Chinese , it pops up a window with "Error, but instal the latest version of Traditional Chinese Language Support Package may fix the error", but I have installed the latest one (Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2015.007,20033), how to fix this error?
System: Mac OS X 10.10.3

Adobe Reader XI hangs/ unresponsive for v long after clicking text comment

Hi There,
I have just downloaded the new version of Adobe reader. all is well, when you first open a file, but it hangs and become irresponsive when the insert text comment button is pressed.
Also, No two files can be opened on adobe reader the same time, the programe just hangs and becomes unresponsive.
I have downloaded the version and reinstalled thrice.

How to trap the event before unlock of locked text frames

How to trap the event before the message "You must check out the contents of this frame in order to make changes. Check out now?" for locked text frames?
I have tried installing the service Responder kUserEditTextCmdResponder
The responder event is fired after the unlock of text frame in this case.
I was trying the service kEditCmdPreProcessService, but I could not find the companion interface for this service.

Can I see, locked resource or no, according
"/Resource/Lock/text()" value ?
It has a non null value when resource locked,
and something like 000100000001, if resource unlocked.
I haven't found into documentation, what does it mean.

Cs4 template locks after comments entered

In a CS4 template, I want to leave the page title (<title>...</title>) editable. By adding comments before and after the "title" this can be achieved. However, as soon as I enter the exclamation point (!) at the beginning of the comments above and/or below the "title" line of code, all the html code below that point turns gray and locks me out. Here is a copy of the header:

A properly created Template will always have two editable regions in the head of the page:
1. A region called "doctitle" that wraps the <title> tag.
2. A region called "head" that is just above the </head> tag.
If your Template does not contain those regions, you did not create the template properly (always use FILE | Save as Template). However, you can certainly add them manually.

It turns gray because DW thinks you have entered an HTML comment, but you are not locked out of the markup, and should continue typing. And by the way, you MUST do this in your Template page, not a child page, obviously. Equally by the way, the code you pasted below is NOT from a DW Template, it's from a DW child page. Or have you got nested Templates? Ugh - that's usually a mistake.

This must be code that you have manually modified after pasting it into your post, since DW does not use the lower-case letters in the markup as you have, and you have shown child page markup for modifications to be made in a Template page. To see how the markup SHOULD look, use FILE | New > Blank HTML, and then use FILE | Save as Template to save this new page as a Template. Now look at that new Template page's code....
