Locking a cursor to named plot

I am trying to lock a named cursor to a named plot. If I don't have a name for the cursor and leave the numerical index, the cursor will "lock to plot". If I use a property node to assign a cursor name, then all of the plots lock to the last cursor name.
I set up the properties in the cursor list before the name is applied to the cursor.

hello,
I dont know if it is exactly what ou want to. I have done an example using property node to associate a cursor with a plot. Tell me if it is what you want to.
Hope this help.

  • Mavericks Temporarily Locks my Cursor - especially in Safari & Mail.

    I have a 2009 Macbook Pro Unibody 17"
    3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 Gb Memory.
    Everything was running fine - However, because I tended to have issues with Wireless Internet - thought the New upgrade would be better.
    So, I did it - Upgraded to Mac Os 10.9.4.
    Since then, I have had many issues - The worst is the temporarily locking the cursor. If I am in Safari and want to type in a new URL - I can move my cursor there - but will not let me type. I cannot open a new tab - fill in a form- or quit the app. I cannot copy a url or any other text - cannot do bookmarks - or even open my book marks - I do not get an error message and the App does not crash....THEN a few seconds go by and like magic - i can move the cursor and click happily away, How often does it happen? Every few minutes.
    I thought it coincided with the Automatic Notifications - so I turned that off (do not Disturb) - but the issue is still happening.
    Frustrated, I Searched on line and saw that were issues with Sanyos - So I unistalled that today. Still have the same issue happens.
    I am not a heavy app user - primarily Safari and Mail.  I do not have more than 5 web sites open at once - and those are not large multimedia sites.
    Can anyone shed some light on what is happening and how to repair?
    Is anyone else having these issues?
    Thank you in advance for any insight and assisatance

    Hi Linc,
    So I cleared the Console log and waited for the problem to happen again. I was beginning to think - "wow all i had to do was clear that log and things worked smoothly again" until today - When I opened Google Docs on Safari.  It was so bad It locked my computer completely and I had to force a shut down.
    Now I am trying to look back at the console log to grab the data which could be helpful.
    I know I was on my computer yesterday from 8am-9am  and again at about 130pm -till about 3:30  then put it to sleep until about 8pm. I opened Google Docs approximately 10pm had to force quit computer around 11:15pm - If you tell me what to look for I will - Or other things that may help...

  • How to 'lock' my cursor to one of my two monitors?

    Hello all, thanks for reading my question!
    My 'problem' is the following: I recently started using a second monitor on my iMac [OsX Yosemite - 10.10.2 / i5 - 2,7GHz / 8GB 1600MHz DD3]. The additional monitor is a Samsung 40" Television screen that I have been using with my old Windows PC. My input-devices are the standard wireless keyboard and magic-mouse, and in addition to that I am using a Wacom Graphire4 with Bamboo-drivers since it's not compatible with the latest version of OsX. The only software I installed to streamline this setup is called 'CatchMouse', which I use to center my cursor on either one of my monitors.
    What I would like to be able to do is lock my cursor to either one of my screens, and use my shortcuts to switch between them, without the possibility of my cursor jumping to the next screen as soon as I get too close to the edge of my screen. I have tried to change the alignment of the two screens in the preferences-menu, but that still didn't prevent my cursor from 'jumping' from one screen to the other. Is there a workaround for this, or perhaps additional software?
    The reason I would like to do this is my Wacom, I use it in absolute positioning (meaning that the top-left on my input-device is the top-left on my screen) and the second screen 'sorta' ruins that experience for me..... There's always a chance I am overlooking a very basic setting, apologies in advanced if this turns out to be the easiest thing to do on a Mac besides hitting the Power-button.... Perhaps some of you have the same 'problem' and know a workaround for it, I will of course continue my quest for a solution on the rest of the interwebs and post it here if/when I do find it, but any extra help from here will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for now!

  • Using cursors on 3D plot

    Hello!
    I'm using 3D plot block. I've inserted a cursor,each point of the plot has a name i want that the cursor show this name.
    I've seen that the cursor of 3D plot shows you the coordinates of the point. How i can catch the value of the cursor...in 2D plot i use property node to obtain this value, but i have no idea if it is possible.
    I need this information strongly.
    Thanks!

    The 3D cursor name can be accessed using a property node, in a way very similar to thre 2D cursor. Except that it is more difficult to access the proper property node. The attached vi shows how to do it.

  • How to add cursors on polar plot

    I want to add cursors on polar plot just like the XY graph has. I am new to LabVIEW and want to be able to move those cursors by mouse movements and get the respective Angle and Magnetude values. Since the polar plot is a picture I am unable to do the same. So my questions is;
    Can I add cursors on Polar plot? If not, then, is there any other way to do so?

    Hi!
    I've found an old post about you issue: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/the-best-way-to-make-a-nice-POLAR-plot-in-LV/td-p/115478 (but no easy solution is provided ).
    You can use an XY plot, of course, but it's up to you to convert your polar plot to the cartesian coordinate system of the XY plot and the way back for the cursor coordinates.

  • Multiple cursors for one plot

    Hi everybody,
    I'm trying to put multiple plots on my XYGraph. I need then that for instance cursor1=f(cursor0).
    Is it possible ? If it's not what are the alternatives ?
    Best regards.

    You tell me that there is no way to link the cursors automatically ...?
    Yes, that's what I'm saying. You have to do it yourself. See attached example (LV 8.2). Note that the second cursor is a free cursor rather than linked to a plot. There's a bug with setting the Y position of a cursor that's linked to a plot. Not sure if it's been fixed - you can contact NI with the CAR that's given in the message in the link I provided.

  • Bode magnitude graph cursor not following plot

    Hi,
    I was wondering if anyone would be able to shed some light on a problem that I am having regarding an XY graph cursor.
    I have developed a simple VI to determine the characteristics of a low pass filter using a sine wave ramped in frequency and subsequently monitoring the gain of the filter to create a Bode plot.
    Through analysis of the Bode plot I would like to determine the cut-off frequency of the low pass filter under test. I have introduced a cursor into the graph and using a property node I hoped to drive the cursor to the -3dB point in the Y axis and output the cursors corresponding X position thereby determining the cut-off frequency of the filter.
    However the cursor never seems to follow the plot beyond the first step of the loop. It feels as if there is a break in the plot between the 1st and 2nd iteration of the while loop used to ramp the signal generator.
    I've tried to work out why the cursor won't follow the plot to -3dB but so far I am stumped.
    Any help or advice that you could provide would be greatly appreciated ! I have provided the attached VI for clarity.

    I have corrected your VI.
    First, you needed to put the property node AFTER the while loop, because you need the graph to be done first and then look at the frequency cut off.
    Second, in LV, the property nodes are read from top to bottom. So you need to place the cursor at Y = -3 first, and then read the X position.

  • Set cursor to a plotted point

    Hi everybody,
    here is what I wanted to do but I have no idea how to:
    I have an XYGraph with a lot of data point inside (they all belong to one plot).
    Now I want to click at one of the points to select it.
    Of course, I have to use a cursor. All what I could do is dragging the
    cursor (snapped to the plot) around but I want to do this by a click
    and the cursor should
    go to the point.
    Is there no simple way?
    Thanks for help.
    Ronny

    Here is a solution :
    - detect the click position using an event structure,
    - calculate the corresponding coordinates (a "tricky" step, where you need to play with the X and Y scale positions...),
    - move the cursor to the nearest graphed point (snap-to-point mode).
    A better positionning can be obtained using the marker coordinates to get a better definition of the plot area origin, but this is not usually required.
    Enjoy...

  • How Do You Move Cursor To Another Plot?

    I have a couple of plots I am working with. How do I move the Cursor (programmatically) from one plot to the next?
    I have tried assigning the "Plot" to the cursor and using SnapToPointOnPlot, but it does no good.
    You can set the snapmode to SnapToNearestPoint and drag the cursor there (that works), but I need to do it programmatically.

    The following code demonstrates what you want to do. The form should have a 2D Graph (CWGraph1), a DSP control (CWDSP1), and a command button. Your difficulty may have been in (not) using the Set statement to assign a plot to the cursor. The VB lines of particular interest are in bold.
    Private Sub Command1_Click()
    Dim phase
    Dim x
    Dim y
    'Create one sine wave
    phase = 0
    x = CWDSP1.SineWave(128, 1, 0.01, phase)
    'Create a second sine wave
    phase = 30
    y = CWDSP1.SineWave(128, 1, 0.01, phase)
    'Remove any plots from graph
    CWGraph1.Plots.RemoveAll
    'Plot one
    CWGraph1.PlotY x
    'This line prevents the next call to PlotY from overwriting the first plot.
    CWGraph1.Plots(1).MultiPlot = False
    CWGraph1.PlotY y
    'I added a cursor interactively, so it already exists on the graph.
    'Tell the cursor to snap to points on a specific plot
    CWGraph1.Cursors(1).SnapMode = cwCSnapPointsOnPlot
    'Tell the cursor which plot to snap to. You MUST use a Set statement because
    ' CWGraph1.Plots(1) references an object (in this case a plot object.)
    Set CWGraph1.Cursors(1).Plot = CWGraph1.Plots(1)
    'Put the cursor at index 64 of the plot data.
    CWGraph1.Cursors(1).PointIndex = 64
    MsgBox "asdf"
    'Attach the cursor to the second plot.
    Set CWGraph1.Cursors(1).Plot = CWGraph1.Plots(2)
    'Put the cursor at index 32 of the plot data.
    CWGraph1.Cursors(1).PointIndex = 32
    End Sub
    I hope this helps,
    David

  • Cx_Oracle cursor - return named tuple

    Hello All,
    I'm having trouble figuring a way to convert the row returned from a basic execute statement into a named tuple/Dictionary.
    The idea, is to be able to access each field via row['column_name']. I'm currently looking at creating a factory, but still a complete noob to python and cx_Oracle.
    cur.execute(""SELECT * FROM V$INSTANCE""")
    #print 'Query Executed..'
    row = cur.fetchone()
    #print 'Cursor Loaded.'
    #print result[0], result[1]
    list = {}
    list['host_name'] = row['host_name']
    print row['host_name']
    Thanks in advance for your assistance.
    Jan S.

    Hello All,
    Managed through some weird keyword search to find a nice little article. here is the solution.
    cur = oracle.cursor()
    cur.execute("""SELECT * FROM V$DATABASE""")
    data = rows_to_dict_list(cur)
    for row in data:
    print row['PROTECTION_LEVEL']
    def rows_to_dict_list(cursor):
    columns = [i[0] for i in cursor.description]
    return [dict(zip(columns, row)) for row in cursor]
    Thanks

    ps - I hate these new editors, Python requires indentations, but that does not mean I want to create and html table from it.

  • Is there any easy way to move the cursor in a plot by just a mouse click?

    Right now I have to click at the cursor and drag it to the right position. I was wondering if there is an easy way to just do the mouse click to change the cursor (not dragging the cursor). I have only one cursor in the graph.

    Assuming that if you click the cursor that you want it to always move to the same position, I think that you could do what you want by calling the cursor's SetPosition method in the graph's CursorMouseDown event.

    I could be confused by the version number. The item is definitely in
    6.1. Popup on a graph, the plot area is probably the largest and
    easiest to hit. Go to the Advanced item and see what is there. The
    bottom item in my version
    can be checked or unchecked to enable and
    disable scrolling when a cursor gets to the edge of the graph.
    If you do not have the menu item, add the following to your .ini file.
    scrollGraphCursors= FALSE;
    or
    scrollGraphCursors: FALSE;
    depending on your platform.

  • Can i position my cursors in a mixed signal plot with my mouse?

    i can move the cursor in the plot via the cursor controls with no problem. but it's a very slow and arduous process. i'd like to be able to just grab the cursor with the mouse and position it where i want to.
     i can grab the cursor with my mouse now, but when i move it, it's like the cursor is locked to the position on the plot and moves the whole plot, which i don't want to do.
     i just want to be able to position the cursor a little faster or quicker than with the left/right/up/down buttons that are avialable now. it would be great to be able to click my mouse at a point in the plot, and snap the cursor to it, or just grab the cursor and put it where i want to.
     if anyone has any helpful suggestions or hints, i'd appreciate it.
     i'm running labview 8.6 on vista and xp.
     thanks for your help,
    chip
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    james and baji,
     thanks for your input, but i guess i'm not very clear in my question. first of all i don't see a cursor locked property to use, so i'm a bit confused on that point.
     but my problem is, i'm using a mixed signal plot, it has say three plots on it. the scales for the x is 1435 to 1455 while the y scale is 0 to 500. there are three plots displayed. using the cursor control buttons (the four diamond pattern controller for up, down, left right) i can position the cursor crosshairs at any point on the displayed plot window, whether on a plotted point or anywhere on the displayed scale.
     but when i grab the cursor, and move it anywhere, i move the whole display along with the cursor, and all my scales change on the plot window accordingly to where i grab the cursor and move it. but the cursor stays locked onto that spot and the plot area moves. what i want to do is have the plot area stay where it is, and move the cursor only, not the whole plot..
     what i'm trying to do is pick an xy coordinate with the cursor and write that point to a file. i can do that using the cursor control buttons, the cursor moves freely anywhere in the plot window, even though it takes a long time (holding the shift key speeds up the cursor).
     unfortunately, i can't download any of the demo vi's you guys have left, my firewall won't let that happen.
     thanks for your help though,
    chip
