Locking book orientation to landscape or portrait?

I read a review that said that you could lock the orientation to portrait. My experience is that you can lock to LANDSCAPE but not portrait. There's a checkbox in one of the menus for this.
But for portrait?
And, it the portrait mode always going to do the scroll-to-end display rather than a page display?  If so, portrait seems kind of useless for a book publication program.

With the introduction of iPhoto 9 (11) there's no Page Setup anymore for iPhoto.  That's handled by iPhoto in the Print window by the layout and print size you've selected.  We'll assume you're using Yosemite and iPhoto 9.6
We need to know more details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what do you see in iPhoto's Print window?
has it ever worked with iPhoto 6.
how are the photos oriented when viewed in an Event or album?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • Why are my apps changing when i change the orientation from landscape to portrait

Recently, on my ipad mini retina, when i change the orientation from landscape to portrait, the apps change. For example, when i enter a game like impossible and change to landscape to play it and then exit the screen has shifted to either the right or left and shows the first line of the next pages apps. Its kind of like when im in the middle of changing from one page to another but it only changes back to normal when i tough the screen. Im not sure if this has anything to do with the new 7.1 ios but it is becoming really annoying

I know it is not a specific app problem because it happens when i come out of some of my apps, it doesnt happen all of the time, only sometimes. Also if any of you could help me with another issue with the same device, when i connect to wifi/hotspot i get static on the screen, it is very noticable when i show a dark picture or a large amount of the screen is a dark colour but i wanted to know if this was normal with the ipad mini retina. I have seen discussions about this device having problems connecting to wifi but i havent found any discussions on this. Does anyone know could cause this?

  • My brand new iPad mini won't rotate I have done factory reset still not working. If I lock and unlock on landscape or portrait it remains in that mode. Any ideas pretty sure I've tried everything suggested.

My brand new iPad mini won't rotate done factory reset still not working. If I lock and unlock on landscape or portrait it remains in that mode. Any ideas pretty sure I've tried everything suggested such as off/on, reset, reboot, double checked lock off. It did work and I changed wallpaper and stopped motion, not sure if this related

Reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. Your iPad will reboot on its own. You will have to enter all of the device settings again, but no data will be lost.
I eould not spend a whole lot more time trying to fix this, if the device is really brand new. I would take it back to where you bought it, bring the box, the charger, the cable and your receipt and if they can't get it fixed, return it and get another one.

  • Investigate book with both landscape and portrait pages

I've an old book where I sucessfully swapped landscape and portrait pages, but there are complications why I cannot use it as a model for my current project. Since I no longer remember how I accomplished this, I have to investigate how to build a book with both landscape and portrait pages.
I know about paragraph tags set to use a new page. Also a table on Reference page which lists Paragraph Tag Name, Right-Handed Master Page, Left-Handed Master Page, Range Indicator.
But this doesn't seem to be enough; something is not working.
Could you please point me toward resources which discuss how to do this?
    Thank you kindly,
    Theresa

I think there was a big discussion of this already either here on the forum or over at the Frameusers.com list (I forget which). Try googling -

  • 10.8 Printer Orientation Problem (Landscape and Portrait)

I recently upgraded from 10.6 to 10.8 and am using a DS40 Dye Sub printer for event green screen photography.  The software is Photokey 5 pro.  The printer orientation worked fine with 10.6 providing landscape orientation prints perfectly.  With 10.8 I have to select the opposite orientation i.e. select portrait to obtain a correctly printed landscape orientated print and vice versa.  I then try to save the orientation, even though it is opposite as a preset so that I don't have to keep changing it for each print, and it won't save. It keep defaulting back to landscape and producing a portrait print.
Any help would be appreciated.  Like I said I can live with an opposite orientation work around, however, if it won't save it is very time consuming to have to make the change for each print especially at an event where I am printing 100's of photos.
    Thank you!!!

    Matt,
DNP corporation just released the driver for 10.8.  I have been waiting for months.  The driver for 10.6 worked fine on my friends mac book unfortunately I had already updated to 10.8 and had to wait for the printer driver release. I have wasted more paper trying every possible configuration both for the printer driver in Photokey 5 pro page setup.  Very frustrating when it everything worked fine prior to 10.8.  Any thoughts?

  • How do you lock/unlock orientation of display. Portrait to landscape?

Phone is"stuck" in portrait mode and will not switch to landscape when tilted. Have I inadvertently locked it?
Youtube works plays in landscape, but normal operation of tilt is gone. Any clues?

    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
You may have orientation lock on.  Is the icon denoting orientation lock present?
This is covered in the manual:
Shows that the iPhone screen is locked in portrait orientation. See “Viewing in Portrait or Landscape Orientation” on page 32.

  • How do I change print orientation from landscape to portrait in OS X 10.10.3 with a Epson Workforce printer?

I tried changing the value in print.print.orientation from zero to one; and then from one to zero -- restarting each time. Neither works. I cannot explain how this problem occurred since I had been printing in portrait. When I fo to print in FF the print dialogue box shows a horizontal page with a number one in it. I cannot change this. There is no landscape/portrait choice area to select. I can print in portrait in Word.

Thanks for your reply. The "details" choices that appear are: Options, Appearance, Frames, Page Headers, Page Footers. Next to Options are 2 choices: Print Selection Only which is grayed out and cannot be selected & Ignore Scaling...etc. which can be selected. No where do I see a portrait/landscape orientation choice. Should I reinstall FF?

  • IPhone 5 with updated ios8 won't change orientations (landscape vs portrait).

My iPhone five with updated ios8 won't change orientation between landscape and portrait. Does anybody have any suggestions?

    Hi lmilesfromnowhere,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
There may be a couple of different things I would suggest here. The first thing I would do would be to check and make sure the orientation lock is off.
    iOS: Screen does not rotate
If the lock is off and the issue continues, I would recommend restarting your device. If the issue continues after the restart, reset the device.
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • Landscape and Portrait Orientation Problems

    Hello everyone,
I am working on my first iBook using iBook Author. I am having a heck of a time understanding how to make something look good in both Landscape and Portrait orientation.
For example, I am curious how to make the spaces between paragraphs disappear in portrait view, if I had to use them in order to make the landscape view look proper in terms of formatting. In depth, if I have a text for a section in the book that I need to have at the top of the next column, I am putting my cursor before the text and pressing enter a few times in order to move it along and onto the next column so it is at the top of the page.
Here is a picture of what I am talking about:
The highlighted text has been shifted down so it will be at the top of the next page.
Now this is what it looks like in Portrait orientation:
There are way too many empty lines between them. Also, you will notice at the top that Not Getting In the Way is also too close to the text above it. Correcting that by putting a space between the lines will screw up the Landscape formatting.
Also, adding pictures makes it even MORE difficult to keep both formatted properly and clean.
    Any advice would be INCREDIBLE.
    Thank you everyone!

  • Why is it I can drag audio in landscape orientation but not in portrait orientation?

Why is it I can drag audio in landscape orientation but not in portrait orientation?

Because landscape is the default layout mode.
Portrait, which is book--optional, is for editing already added content, basically.
Get your audio in and then test to learn how elements operate, and see Publishing With iBooks Author

  • Photo Landscape versus Portrait Orientation Anomaly

I took 2 photos in portrait orientation (long side vertical, i.e.,  "oriented vertically").  I viewed these in Adobe Bridge CS3 and of course initially found them to be lying on their side, oriented horizontally.  I used the button visible on upper right in Adobe Bridge that shows a partial circle and arrowhead to change the orientation of the photos to be oriented vertically.  I opened these in Photoshop CS3 and they displayed correctly oriented vertically.  I tweaked them and saved them, thinking that they must now be correctly oriented vertically, as they displayed correctly both in Bridge and in Photoshop.  However, when these are viewed in a web browser (Mozilla or Internet Explorer) they display incorrectly, horizontally oriented.  I know this must have a ridiculously simple explanation and solution, but it is not apparent to me how to tell Bridge or Photoshop to orient the photo in default orientation as it will be viewed in other non-Adobe programs.  Where is this information stored and how can I correct it?  This seems to be an undesirable behavior, as a user can be unaware that the image is not correctly rotated.
    Thank you.

Thank you Curt for your helpful answer.
This topic remains confusing but here is what I have found:
I am examining 2 copies of an image:
    a. an original image which appears unrotated in Bridge and Photoshop and a browser (i.e., appears wider across than in height) which I'll call "Original".
    b. a modified image which appears oriented in portrait orientation in Bridge and Photoshop (rotated from the original) but oriented in landscape orientation (unrotated) in a browser, which I'll call "Anomalous"
    (1) In Bridge, I was previously not displaying the "Orientation" flag.  I have turned this on as you have suggested.  This flag reads:
    Original: Normal
    Anomalous: Rotate -90 degrees
[This is certainly a helpful indication that the image is being displayed as rotated, though you have to hunt for it.]
    (2) In Photoshop CS3, I read the following relevant "File Info" metadata, none of which I can modify:
    Original image:
Camera Data 2 > Pixel Dimension X: 2592 [largest dimension]
       Camera Data 2: Orientation: "Normal"
Advanced > TIFF Properties: Orientation: 1
Advanced > EXIF Properties: PixelXDimension: 2592
File > Page Setup > Orientation: Portrait
    Anomalous image:
Camera Data 2 > Pixel Dimension X: 2592 [largest dimension]
       Camera Data 2: Orientation: "Normal"
Advanced > TIFF Properties: Orientation: 1
Advanced > EXIF Properties: PixelXDimension: 2592
File > Page Setup > Orientation: Portrait
In other words, I can find no imbedded metadata item in the image as Photoshop reads out the metadata that indicates the state of the rotation flag that Bridge has modified.
Given the available and somewhat discordant findings so far, it appears that I'll have to adjust the rotation of the rotated image in Bridge back to "Normal" first before opening and rotating the image in Photoshop.  This seems to be the only way I can find to set the orientation flag to "Normal" in Photoshop, so that the image will open both in Photoshop and in a browser to the proper orientation.
Are you aware of how Photoshop might explicitly display the value of the Bridge-altered orientation flag?
    Thank you again.

  • Navigation based on screen orientation (landscape or portrait) in Flash CS6

I'm creating an app that will have a different menu if the phone is held landscape, or portrait.
I figure I have to tell flash to move to a new frame when the phone moves from landscape to portrait or vice versa, but I'm not sure the exact code to after creating the orientation event listener.

your orientation listener should call a function that executes a gotoAndStop.
the stage has an Stage.OrientationEvent.ORIENTATION_CHANGE event you can use:
    stage.addEventListener(StageOrientationEvent.ORIENTATION_CHANGE,changeF);
    function changeF(e:StageOrientationEvent):void{
    trace(e.afterOrientation.toString());

I put my book together in landscape. It seems like the only cover option is portrait. I set it up in portrait but iTunes did not like it when I tried to publish it. I'm so confused.

I think square might fly, but yes, a landscape cover is a no-go.

  • Printing landscape and portrait orientations in LR

I have usually been printing from Qimage or QTR for my black and white, despite having heard good things about LR's print module.
This afternoon I thought I would give LR a whirl at printing. I had a series of 4 photos (3 portrait orientation, 1 landscape) selected which I wanted to print one per page. In Print they all appeared oriented in the most logical fashion as I paged through the 4 pages (i.e. the longest dimension of the image ran down the longest dimension of the paper).
I then selected my profile for my paper and hit Print... to go into my printer settings (Epson 3800) for that paper. These latter settings exist for both landscape and portrait orientations of my papers. As I had both landscape and portrait images I wished to print and the settings for the printer driver dialog are identical for both apart from the media orientation, I chose the landscape to get a quick feedback on whether LR would be able to handle a mixed bag of portrait and landscape images.
As I feared, my first print (which was an image in portrait orientation) came out with the long axis of the image squeezed into the short dimension of the paper....so LR saw the choice I had made of a landscape orientation within the printer driver as a hard and fixed choice. Does this mean one can only do print runs of either portrait or landscape oriented images in LR and never combine the two?
I realize there may be an easy answer to this as I've really not used LR for printing till now.
    Thanks for input,
    Dave M

Thanks DJ-G....I can't swear but I am almost positive I had Rotate to Fit checked....indeed that would explain why when paging through the 4 pages in LR they were rotated to fit in the correct orientation. I'll check again. I do understand with Custom Package etc. we can print landscape and portrait when printing multiple images on the same page but my specific concern is printing one image per page and whether LR can handle a series of such prints in one print job if the images are a mix of landscape and portrait orientations.
